Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a tool holder for holding a tool and a turret to which a plurality of tool holders can be detachably attached. [Background technology]
[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art Machine tools that perform cutting processes on metal workpieces, etc., use tool holders that hold tools for machining the workpieces. Tool holders used may be rotating tool holders (sometimes called "turning tool holders") or non-rotating tool holders (sometimes called "turning tool holders"). Rotating tool holders rotatably hold tools (sometimes called "turning tools" or "rotating tools") that machine fixed workpieces. Non-rotating tool holders non-rotatably hold tools (sometimes called "turning tools" or "non-rotating tools") that machine rotating workpieces. Here, a machine tool equipped with a turret is used to enable a plurality of machining operations to be performed continuously. The turret is configured to be rotatable around the turret center line. In addition, a plurality of tool holder mounting surfaces, to which the mounting surface of a tool holder holding a tool can be attached, are provided along the circumferential direction on the outer periphery of the turret. Then, the turret is rotated by a turret drive mechanism so that the tool holder holding the tool to be used for machining (the tool holder mounting surface to which the mounting surface of the tool holder is attached) is positioned at the machining position. A rotating tool holder or a non-rotating tool holder is attached to the tool holder mounting surface. Such a turret is disclosed, for example, in Patent Document 1 (JP Patent Publication 2006-167862 A).
[0003] When machining a workpiece using a tool, it is necessary to supply a cooling medium such as oil to the cutting edge of the tool to lubricate the workpiece and tool, to cool the workpiece and tool, and to remove chips (sometimes called "swarf") generated during machining. For this reason, a tool holder is used that is provided with a cooling medium supply mechanism that passes a cooling medium supplied from a machine tool and sprays the cooling medium onto the cutting edge of the tool, etc. Furthermore, a tool holder provided with a cooling medium supply mechanism having a pump has been proposed to increase the pressure of the cooling medium. Such a tool holder is disclosed in, for example, Patent Document 2 (JP Patent Publication 62-4550). [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2006-167862 A [Patent Document 2] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 62-4550 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] The pressure of the cooling medium supplied by a general machine tool may not be sufficient to provide a sufficient cooling or lubricating effect from the cooling medium sprayed from the cooling medium supply mechanism provided in the tool holder, and may not be able to fully remove the chips generated during machining. In such cases, the worker must perform the task of removing the chips remaining on the workpiece after machining the workpiece (removal task). Here, it is conceivable that the effect of removing chips can be improved by increasing the pressure of the cooling medium sprayed from a cooling medium supply mechanism provided on the tool holder. In order to increase the pressure of the cooling medium sprayed from the cooling medium supply mechanism provided on the tool holder, it is necessary to increase the pressure of the cooling medium supplied from the machine tool. However, in order to increase the pressure of the cooling medium supplied from the machine tool, the machine tool needs to be designed to high pressure specifications, which becomes very expensive. In addition, as disclosed in Patent Document 2, a tool holder equipped with a cooling medium supply mechanism constituted by a pump having a rotating part that is rotated by a drive mechanism provided on a machine tool may be used, and the pressure of the cooling medium sprayed from the cooling medium supply mechanism may be increased by increasing the rotation speed of the rotating part of the pump. However, the tool holder disclosed in Patent Document 2 injects a cooling medium onto the cutting edge of the tool while rotating the tool held therein to machine a workpiece, and therefore there is a limit to how high the rotation speed of the tool holder can be increased. Furthermore, a non-rotating tool holder, which holds a tool so that it cannot rotate, does not have a rotating part, so it is not possible to increase the pressure of the cooling medium using the pump disclosed in Patent Document 2. In particular, when a non-rotating tool holder that holds a tool so that it cannot rotate is used, long continuous chips are likely to be generated during machining. If such long continuous chips wrap around the tool or workpiece, the tool or workpiece may be damaged. For this reason, there is a demand for the development of technology that can prevent long, continuous chips from wrapping around the tool or workpiece in a non-rotating tool holder that holds a tool so that it cannot rotate. The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned points, and has an object to provide a technology in which a tool holder (non-rotating tool holder) that holds a tool so that it cannot rotate is configured to be able to inject high-pressure cooling medium in a concentrated manner at a predetermined location, thereby breaking up chips generated during machining and preventing long, continuous chips from wrapping around a tool or workpiece. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] The first invention relates to a tool holder (non-rotating tool holder) that non-rotatably holds a tool for machining a rotating workpiece. The present invention includes a body, a rotating member, a pump and a nozzle. The main body has a mounting portion that is detachably mounted to a tool holder mounting portion of a machine tool, for example, a tool holder mounting surface provided on the outer periphery of a turret of the machine tool. The main body also has a main body inner circumferential surface, a main body inner space defined by the main body inner circumferential surface, a first main body passage, and a second main body passage. The rotating member is rotatably disposed within the space inside the main body. Various methods can be used to rotatably dispose the rotating member within the space inside the main body. The pump has a rotating portion, a suction portion, and a discharge portion. The rotating portion of the pump is disposed within the space inside the main body portion so as to be rotatable in conjunction with the rotation of the rotating member. The suction portion communicates with a first main body portion passage of the main body portion, and the discharge portion communicates with a second main body portion passage of the main body portion. The pump is configured to increase the pressure of the cooling medium sucked from the suction portion to a pressure corresponding to the rotation speed of the rotating portion, and to discharge the pressurized cooling medium from the discharge portion. As the pump, any of various known pumps having a rotating part can be used. As a method for rotating the rotating part of the pump in conjunction with the rotation of the rotating member, any of various methods can be used. For example, a method of connecting the rotating part of the pump to the rotating member can be used. The nozzle has an injection hole for injecting a cooling medium, and is attached to the body such that the injection hole communicates with the second body passage of the body. The tool holder of the present invention is configured such that, when the mounting part is mounted on the tool holder mounting part, a cooling medium supplied from a machine tool is passed through the first main body passage, and the rotating member is rotationally driven by a drive mechanism provided on the machine tool. The rotation speed of the rotating part (rotating member) of the pump is set so that the pressure of the cooling medium injected from the injection holes reaches a predetermined pressure capable of breaking up chips generated by machining the workpiece. In the tool holder of the first invention, a high-pressure cooling medium can be sprayed intensively at a predetermined location in a tool holder (non-rotating tool holder) that holds a tool so that it cannot rotate. This breaks up chips that are generated during machining of a workpiece, and prevents long, continuous chips from wrapping around the tool or workpiece. In a different embodiment of the first aspect of the present invention, the main body portion is composed of a main body member, a sleeve, and a cap. The main body member is formed in a cylindrical shape and has an attachment portion, an inner circumferential surface of the main body member, an inner space formed by the inner circumferential surface of the main body member, and a first main body member passage and a second main body member passage opening to the inner circumferential surface of the main body member. The sleeve is formed in a cylindrical shape and has a sleeve inner circumferential surface, a sleeve outer circumferential surface, a sleeve inner space formed by the sleeve inner circumferential surface, and a first sleeve passage and a second sleeve passage opening to the sleeve outer circumferential surface and the sleeve inner circumferential surface. The sleeve is disposed within the body member interior space such that the first sleeve passage communicates with the first body member passage and the second sleeve passage communicates with the second body member passage. The cap is provided on the sleeve so as to close the tip side of the space inside the sleeve. The rotating member is rotatably disposed within the body member interior space. The pump is configured such that the rotating portion is disposed between the rotating member and the cap, the suction portion communicates with the first sleeve passage, and the discharge portion communicates with the second sleeve passage. The nozzle is mounted to the body member such that the nozzle orifice communicates with the second body member passageway. In addition, when the mounting portion is mounted on the tool holder mounting portion, the cooling medium supplied from the machine tool is configured to pass through the first main body member passage. In this embodiment, the tool holder can be easily configured. The second invention relates to a turret. The turret is provided on the machine tool and is rotatable around a turret center line. The turret is provided with a plurality of tool holder attachment portions along the circumferential direction on its outer periphery, to which attachment portions of tool holders can be detachably attached. The machining center also includes a turret drive mechanism that rotates the turret around a turret center line so that one of the multiple tool holder mounting parts (a tool holder mounted on the tool holder mounting part) is located at a predetermined machining position. The machine tool also includes a cooling medium supply mechanism that is provided in the machine tool and is configured to be able to supply a cooling medium to the tool holder that is attached to the tool holder attachment part that is disposed at the machining position. The machine tool also includes a drive mechanism that is provided in the machine tool and is configured to be able to rotate and drive a rotating part of a tool holder that is attached to a tool holder attachment part that is disposed at a machining position. The above-mentioned tool holder (non-rotating tool holder) that has a pump and holds a tool non-rotatably is attached to at least one of the plurality of tool holder attachment portions. The drive mechanism has, for example, a pump on the tool holder attachment portion, and drives the rotating member to rotate when a tool holder that non-rotatably holds a tool (non-rotating tool holder) is attached to the tool holder attachment portion, and drives the rotating shaft that rotates the tool when a tool holder that rotatably holds a tool (rotating tool holder) is attached to the tool holder attachment portion. The turret of the second invention has the same effects as the first invention when using a tool holder (non-rotating holder) that is attached to the tool holder attachment portion and holds a tool non-rotatably. Effect of the Invention
[0007] By using the tool holder of the first invention and the turret of the second invention, when machining a workpiece using a tool held non-rotatably in the tool holder, a high-pressure cooling medium can be sprayed intensively at a predetermined location. This breaks up the chips generated during machining, preventing long, continuous chips from wrapping around the tool or workpiece. [Brief description of the drawings]
[0008] [Figure 1] FIG. 2 illustrates one embodiment of a turret of the present invention. [Diagram 2] FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of one embodiment of a tool holder of the present invention. [Diagram 3] FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of a main part of FIG. 2. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0009] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, an embodiment of a tool holder according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In the following, the direction along the center line P of the tool holder 100 (the rotational center line of the rotating member 130 and the rotating parts of the pump 200) will be referred to as the "axial direction", the side along the axial direction opposite to the side on which the rotating member 130 is arranged (the side of arrow A (left side) in Figures 2 and 3) will be referred to as the "tip side" or "one axial side", and the side on which the rotating member 130 is arranged (the side of arrow B (right side) in Figures 2 and 3) will be referred to as the "rear end side" or "other axial side".
[0010] First, an embodiment of a turret 10 of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The turret 10 is provided on a machine tool and is rotatable about a turret center line O. A plurality of tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c are provided along the circumferential direction on the outer periphery of the turret. In this embodiment, the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c are provided at equal intervals. A mounting surface of a tool holder is detachably attached to the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c. In this embodiment, the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c extend in a direction intersecting (preferably perpendicular to) the extension direction of mounting surface centerlines Q1 to Q3 that extend at equal intervals around the turret centerline O. In Fig. 1, a mounting surface 112a of a tool holder 100 is detachably mounted on the tool holder mounting surface 11a. The tool holder 100 holds a tool 170 having a cutting edge 171 such that it cannot rotate. Hereinafter, the tool holder 100 will be referred to as a "non-rotating tool holder 100" and the tool 170 will be referred to as a "non-rotating tool 170." A tool that is held such that it cannot rotate is sometimes called a "turning tool." An attached surface 312a of the tool holder 300 is attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11b. The tool holder 300 holds the tool 370 rotatably around a tool rotation center line q2 that intersects (preferably perpendicular to) the extension direction of the attachment surface center line Q2. Hereinafter, the tool holder 300 will be referred to as a "rotating tool holder 300" and the tool 370 will be referred to as a "rotating tool 370." The tool that is rotatably held may also be referred to as a "cutting tool." An attachment surface 412a of a tool holder 400 is attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11c. The tool holder 400 holds a tool 470 rotatably around a center line Q3 of the attachment surface. Hereinafter, the tool holder 400 will be referred to as a "rotating tool holder 400" and the tool 470 will be referred to as a "rotating tool 470." The turret 10 is rotated around the turret center line O by a turret drive mechanism (not shown) so that any one of the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c (the tool holders 100, 300, 400 mounted on the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c) is positioned at a predetermined machining position.
[0011] In this embodiment, the tool holder 100 corresponds to the "tool holder that non-rotatably holds a tool" of the present invention. Moreover, the tool holder mounting surfaces 11a to 11c correspond to the "tool holder mounting portion" of the present invention, and the mounted surfaces 112a, 312a, 412a correspond to the "mounted portion" of the present invention.
[0012] Further, there is provided a drive mechanism 20 that rotates and drives a rotating part of the tool holder attached to the tool holder attachment surface arranged at the processing position. As the drive mechanism 20, for example, a drive mechanism constituted by a drive means such as a motor is used. 1, the rotating part of the non-rotating tool holder 100 with a pump of the present invention, which is attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11a arranged at the machining position, is a rotating member 130 (described later). Note that a conventional non-rotating tool holder does not have a rotating part because it holds a non-rotating tool so that it cannot rotate and does not have a pump that pressurizes the cooling medium. The rotating part of the rotating tool holder 300 attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11b is a rotating shaft 330. When the rotating shaft 330 rotates, the rotating tool 370 rotates. The rotating part of the rotating tool holder 400 attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11c is a rotating shaft 430. When the rotating shaft 430 rotates, the rotating tool 470 rotates.
[0013] Also provided is a cooling medium supply mechanism (not shown) that supplies a cooling medium to the tool holder attached to the tool holder attachment surface arranged at the machining position. In the non-rotating tool holder 100 shown in FIG. 1, the cooling medium supplied from the cooling medium supply mechanism is pressurized by a pump 200 (described later) and then sprayed from an injection hole 161 of a non-rotating nozzle 160. In the rotary tool holders 300 and 400, the cooling medium supplied from the cooling medium supply mechanism is directly sprayed from the spray holes which rotate together with the tool. As disclosed in Patent Document 2, the rotating tool holders 300 and 400 may be configured such that the cooling medium supplied from the cooling medium supply mechanism is pressurized by a pump and then sprayed from a spray hole that rotates together with the tool.
[0014] Next, one embodiment of a non-rotating tool holder 100 will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a non-rotating tool holder 100 according to one embodiment, and FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of a main portion of FIG.
[0015] The non-rotating tool holder 100 of this embodiment has a main body, a rotating member 130, a pump 200, and a nozzle 160. The non-rotating tool holder 100 is provided with a tool holding mechanism (not shown) that non-rotatably holds the non-rotating tool 170. As the tool holding mechanism that holds the non-rotating tool 170, any of various known tool holding mechanisms having various configurations can be used.
[0016] The main body is composed of a main body member 110 , a sleeve 120 , and a cap 150 .
[0017] The main body member 110 is formed in a cylindrical shape, and has a main body member inner circumferential surface 111 and a main body member outer circumferential surface 112. The main body member inner circumferential surface 111 forms a main body member inner space 113. In this embodiment, the main body member inner circumferential surface 111 has main body member inner circumferential surface portions 111a to 111c. The main body member inner circumferential surface portions 111a and 111c have a circular cross section and extend along the axial direction. The main body member inner circumferential surface portion 111c is disposed on the rear end side of the main body member inner circumferential surface portion 111a and has an inner diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the main body member inner circumferential surface portion 111a. The main body member inner circumferential surface portion 111b extends along the radial direction and forms a step surface connecting the main body member inner circumferential surface portions 111a and 111c. A female thread is formed in the main body member inner circumferential surface portion 111a. The main body member outer peripheral surface 112 has a main body member outer peripheral surface portion 112a. The main body member outer peripheral surface portion 112a extends in the radial direction. The main body member outer peripheral surface portion 112a is configured to be freely attachable to the tool holder attachment surfaces 11a to 11c of the turret 10. The outer peripheral surface portion 112a of the main body member corresponds to the "outer peripheral surface portion of the main body" or the "attached portion" of the present invention.
[0018] Body member 110 also has a first body member passageway 114 and a second body member passageway 115 formed therein. The first body member passage 114 opens to the body member outer peripheral surface portion 112a and the body member inner peripheral surface (body member inner peripheral surface portion 111c). The second body member passage 115 opens to the body member inner peripheral surface (body member inner peripheral surface portion 111c). The first body member passage 114 is configured so that a cooling medium supplied from a machine tool flows in the first body member passage 114 when the body member outer circumferential surface portion 112a is attached to the tool holder attachment surfaces 11a to 11c. The nozzle 160 is attached to the body member 110 such that the injection hole 161 of the nozzle 160 communicates with the second body member passage 115 .
[0019] The sleeve 120 is formed in a cylindrical shape and has a sleeve inner circumferential surface 121, a sleeve outer circumferential surface 122, a sleeve front end surface 120A, and a sleeve rear end surface 120B. A sleeve inner space 123 is formed by the sleeve inner circumferential surface 121. In this embodiment, the sleeve inner circumferential surface 121 has sleeve inner circumferential surface portions 121a to 121c. The sleeve inner circumferential surface portions 121a and 121c have a circular cross section and extend along the axial direction. The sleeve inner circumferential surface portion 121c is disposed on the rear end side of the sleeve inner circumferential surface portion 121a and has an inner diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the sleeve inner circumferential surface portion 121a. The sleeve inner circumferential surface portion 121b extends along the radial direction and forms a step surface connecting the sleeve inner circumferential surface portions 121a and 121c. A female thread is formed in the sleeve inner circumferential surface portion 121a. The sleeve outer peripheral surface 122 has sleeve outer peripheral surface portions 122a to 122c. The sleeve outer peripheral surface portions 122a and 122c have a circular cross section and extend along the axial direction. The sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122c is disposed on the rear end side of the sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122a and has an outer diameter smaller than that of the sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122a. The sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122b extends along the radial direction and forms a stepped surface connecting the sleeve outer peripheral surface portions 122a and 122c. The sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122a has a male thread that can be screwed into a female thread formed on the main body member inner peripheral surface portion 111a.
[0020] The sleeve 120 is fixed to the main body member 110 in a state where it is inserted into the main body member inner space 113. In this embodiment, the sleeve 120 is fixed to the main body member 110 by inserting the sleeve 120 to a position where the sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122b abuts against the main body member inner peripheral surface portion 111b in a state where the male thread formed on the sleeve outer peripheral surface portion 122a is screwed into the female thread formed on the main body member inner peripheral surface portion 111a. The method for fixing the sleeve 120 to the main body member 110 is not limited to this, and various known methods can be used. In this embodiment, a space in which a rotating member 130 (described later) is disposed is formed on the rear end side of the sleeve rear end surface 120B within the main body member inner space 113. Between the main body member 110 and the sleeve 120, seal members 116a to 116c such as O-rings are disposed.
[0021] The sleeve 120 also has a first sleeve passage 124 and a second sleeve passage 125 . The first sleeve passage 124 is configured to communicate with the first body member passage 114 and the suction portion 201 of the pump 200 when the sleeve 120 is fixed to the body member 110 . The second sleeve passage 125 is configured to communicate with the second body member passage 115 and the discharge portion 202 of the pump 200 when the sleeve 120 is secured to the body member 110 . In this embodiment, the suction section 201 and the discharge section 202 of the pump 200 (the first sleeve passage 124 communicating with the suction section 210 and the second sleeve passage 125 communicating with the discharge section 202) are arranged at positions spaced apart along the axial direction.
[0022] The cap 150 has a cap outer circumferential surface 152, a cap leading end surface 150A, and a cap trailing end surface 150B. The cap outer peripheral surface 152 has cap outer peripheral surface portions 152a to 152c. The cap outer peripheral surface portions 152a to 152c have a circular cross section and extend along the axial direction. The cap outer peripheral surface portion 152c is disposed on the rear end side of the cap outer peripheral surface portion 152a. The cap outer peripheral surface portion 152b is disposed between the cap outer peripheral surface portions 152a and 152c, and has an outer diameter larger than the outer diameters of the cap outer peripheral surface portions 152a and 152c. The cap outer peripheral surface portion 152b is formed with a male thread that can be screwed into a female thread formed on the sleeve inner peripheral surface portion 121a. The cap 150 is fixed to the tip side of the sleeve 120. In this embodiment, the cap 150 is fixed to the sleeve 120 by screwing a male thread formed on an outer peripheral surface portion 152b of the cap into a female thread formed on an inner peripheral surface portion 121a of the sleeve. Between the sleeve 120 and the cap 150, a seal member 126a such as an O-ring is disposed. The method for fixing the cap 150 to the sleeve 120 is not limited to this, and various known methods can be used.
[0023] The rotating member 130 is rotatably disposed in the main body member inner space 113. In this embodiment, the rotating member 130 is rotatably disposed at the rear end portion (rear end side from the sleeve rear end surface 120B) of the main body member inner space 113 via a bearing 211. This allows the rotating member 130 to rotate relative to the main body member 110. In addition, when the main body member outer peripheral surface portion 112a of the tool holder 100 is attached to the tool holder mounting surface 11a, the rotating member 130 is rotationally driven by a driving mechanism 20 provided in the machine tool. In detail, when the tool holder mounting surface 11a is placed at the machining position, the rotating member 130 of the tool holder 100 attached to the tool holder mounting surface 11a is rotationally driven by the driving mechanism 20.
[0024] The pump 200 is disposed between the cap 150 and the rotating member 130 . The pump 200 has a rotating part that is rotatably disposed in the sleeve inner space 123. Various known pumps having a rotating part can be used as the pump 200. In this embodiment, an internal gear pump is used. One end of the rotating part of the pump 200 is connected to the rotating member 130. In this embodiment, the rear end of the rotating part of the pump 200 is connected to the rotating member 130 via a knock pin 140. The other end of the rotating part of the pump 200 is rotatably supported by the cap 150. In this embodiment, the tip end of the rotating part of the pump 200 is rotatably supported in a recess formed in the cap rear end surface 150B of the cap 150. This allows the rotating portion of the pump 200 to rotate in conjunction with the rotation of the rotating member 130. Pump 200 also has a suction portion 201 and a discharge portion 202. Suction portion 201 is in communication with first body member passage 114 via first sleeve passage 124. Discharge portion 202 is in communication with second body member passage 115 via second sleeve passage 125. The pump 200 increases the pressure of the cooling medium sucked from the suction portion 201 to a pressure corresponding to the rotation speed of the rotating portion, and discharges the pressurized cooling medium from the discharge portion 202 .
[0025] In this embodiment, the main body member 110, the sleeve 120, and the cap 150 constitute the "main body" of the present invention. Furthermore, the outer peripheral surface 112 of the main body member constitutes the "outer peripheral surface of the main body portion" of the present invention, the inner peripheral surface 111 of the main body member and the inner peripheral surface 121 of the sleeve constitute the "inner peripheral surface of the main body portion" of the present invention, and the inner space 113 of the main body member and the inner space 123 of the sleeve constitute the "inner space of the main body portion" of the present invention. Furthermore, the first body member passage 114 and the first sleeve passage 124 constitute the "first body portion passage" of the present invention, and the second body member passage 115 and the second sleeve passage 125 constitute the "second body portion passage" of the present invention. Moreover, the sleeve 120, the rotating portion, the suction portion 201 and the discharge portion 202 constitute the "pump" of the present invention.
[0026] The nozzle 160 has an injection hole 161 that is open at both ends. The nozzle 160 is attached to the body member 110 so that one opening of the injection hole 161 communicates with the second body member passage 115. In this embodiment, the nozzle 160 is attached to the body member 110 by a male screw formed on the outer periphery of the rear end side of the nozzle 160 and a female screw formed on the inner periphery of the second body member passage 115 being screwed together. As a result, the cooling medium injected from the opening 161a of the injection hole 161 of the nozzle 160 is not affected by the rotation of the opening 161a of the injection hole 161. In other words, the cooling medium can be injected in a concentrated manner at a predetermined location. The shape of the nozzle 160 is set so that the cooling medium sprayed from the opening on the other side of the injection hole 161 (the opening opposite the opening communicating with the second main body member passage 115) 161a is sprayed onto the machined portion of the workpiece W. The rotation speed of the rotating part (rotating member 130) of the pump 200 is set to a predetermined rotation speed at which the pressure of the cooling medium sprayed from the opening 161a of the injection hole 161 of the nozzle 160 is high enough to break up the chips generated during machining. By breaking up the chips generated during machining, it is possible to prevent long, continuous chips from wrapping around the tool or the workpiece W.
[0027] An example of the operation when machining the workpiece W using the non-rotating tool 170 will be described below. A workpiece W is attached to the machine tool. Among the tool holders, a non-rotating tool holder 100 holding a non-rotating tool 170 required for machining is attached to the tool holder attachment surface 11 a of the turret 10 . The turret 10 is rotated so that the tool holder mounting surface 11a is located at the machining position. By controlling the rotation speed and position of the workpiece W, the workpiece W is machined using a non-rotating tool 170 held in a non-rotating tool holder 100. At this time, the rotating member 130 connected to the rotating part of the pump 200 is set to a predetermined rotation speed. As a result, the cooling medium having a pressure capable of breaking up chips generated by machining is injected from the opening 161a of the injection hole 161 of the nozzle 160 onto the machined part of the workpiece W (the part machined by the cutting edge 171 of the non-rotating tool 170).
[0028] As described above, by using the non-rotating tool holder 100 of this embodiment, when machining the workpiece W with the non-rotating tool 170, it is possible to intensively inject high-pressure cooling medium onto the machining portion from the opening 161a of the injection hole 161 of the nozzle 160. This makes it possible to prevent long continuous chips from wrapping around the non-rotating tool 170 and the workpiece W, thereby preventing damage to the non-rotating tool 170 and the workpiece W. Furthermore, since the drive mechanism that rotates the rotation shaft of the rotary tool holder is used as the drive source that rotates the rotating portion of the pump, there is no need to provide a separate drive source.
[0029] The present invention is not limited to the configurations described in the embodiments, and various modifications, additions, and deletions are possible. As the tool holding mechanism for holding a non-rotating tool in a non-rotating tool holder, tool holding mechanisms of various configurations can be used. The body of the non-rotating tool holder can be detachably attached to the machine tool in a variety of ways. Various methods can be used to pass the cooling medium supplied from the machine tool through the first main body passage. As the pump, any of various known pumps having a rotating portion, a suction portion, and a discharge portion can be used. Various methods can be used to rotatably dispose the rotating member within the space inside the main body. Various methods can be used to connect the rotating member to the rotating portion of the pump. The shapes and configurations of the main body member, sleeve, cap, and rotating member are not limited to those described in the embodiment, and can be modified in various ways. As the nozzle, nozzles of various configurations can be used. In the embodiment, the main body is constituted by a main body member, a sleeve, and a cap, but is not limited thereto. For example, the main body may be constituted by a single member in which the main body member, the sleeve, and the cap are integrated. The main body may also be constituted by a member in which the main body member and the sleeve are integrated, and the cap, or by a member in which the sleeve and the cap are integrated, and the main body. The configurations described in the embodiments can be used alone or in combination with a number of appropriately selected configurations. [Explanation of symbols]
