Description

Field of the Disclosure

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a vertical filter press, such as a tower press, having a filter plate frame for supporting filter plates and a filter plate sub-frame that can be accommodated within the filter plate frame. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a filter plate sub-frame as described above. Background of the Disclosure

[0002] In conventional vertical filter presses, the filter chambers are formed between adjacent and overlapping filter plates. Typically, the filter plates are supported on the apparatus by a filter plate frame, and the filter plate frame further defines the filter chambers between adjacent filter plates in the transverse direction. In other words, the filter plate frame must be arranged with sufficient rigidity to support the associated filter plates and withstand the influence of the pressure difference without excessive deformation during operation. As a result, such a filter plate frame is relatively heavy and bulky, which hinders the replacement of associated wearing parts such as seals and diaphragms. This is because, in order to safely perform such replacement, the entire filter plate frame must be removed from the filtration device.

[0003] In recent years ... the provision of a separately detachable sub-frame on the filter plate frame, to which a number of attachable parts can be attached has been seen has been proposed. Since the support force and rigidity can still be obtained by the filter plate frame, the structure of the sub-frame can be made relatively lighter, thereby enabling the sub-frame to be easily removed and worn parts to be replaced. Brief Description of the Disclosure

[0004] The present disclosure aims to provide a filter plate sub-frame that enables more the smooth replacement of associated attachable parts.

[0005] The object of the present disclosure is achieved by a filter plate sub-frame characterized by the matters described in the independent claims. Preferred embodiments of the present disclosure are disclosed in the dependent claims.

[0006] The present disclosure is based on the idea of providing a substantially rectangular sub-frame. The sub-frame has a tip surface portion with a bending rigidity higher than that of the side surface portion, while the side surface portion has a structure with a lower linear density than that of the tip surface portion. To achieve this purpose, reinforcing bars are arranged on one or both of the tip surface portions. Further, the sub-frame can slide longitudinally along the support surface of the first flat surface portion of the side surface portion and can be accommodated in an associated filter plate frame, where it is supported within the frame.

[0007] The sub-frame according to the present disclosure has the advantages that the rigidity of the sub-frame in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction is increased and the overall weight of the sub-frame is reduced. As a result, the overall weight becomes lighter and handling of most sub-frames becomes easier, so that replacement of parts attachable to the associated sub-frame becomes smoother. Also, by increasing the rigidity in the orthogonal direction, when the sub-frame is supported by the side surface portion, deformation of the orthogonal plane of the sub-frame is alleviated. For this reason, the sub-frame can be easily inserted into and removed from the frame.

[0008] According to a first aspect of the present disclosure, a filter plate sub-frame is provided with respect to a filter plate frame assembly. Such a filter plate frame assembly has a filter plate frame and a filter plate sub-frame that can be accommodated therein.

[0009] The filter plate sub-frame includes individually divided outer edge pieces that are attached to each other to form a continuous outer edge region of the sub-frame. The outer edge region surrounds and defines the open region of the sub-frame. The open region of the sub-frame defines a filter chamber in the transverse direction during use.

[0010] The outer edge portion is substantially rectangular and has a first side surface portion and a second side surface portion that faces the first side surface portion in parallel. These side surface portions extend along the longitudinal direction of the sub-frame. Further, the outer edge portion has a first tip surface portion and a second tip surface portion that faces the first tip surface portion in parallel, and these tip surface portions are orthogonal to the side surface portions.

[0011] Specifically, the linear density of the side surface portion is lower than that of the tip surface portion, and the bending rigidity of the tip surface portion is higher than that of the side edge. Further, one or both of the first tip surface portion and the second tip surface portion are provided with a reinforcing bar for increasing the bending rigidity of the tip surface portion. Most preferably, the reinforcing bar is a separate body from the outer edge piece, but is detachably fixed to the outer edge piece.

[0012] Furthermore, the sub-frame is configured to be slidably accommodated in the filter plate frame along the longitudinal direction of the sub-frame. A support surface is provided on the first flat surface portion of the outer edge piece forming the side surface portion. The support surface is configured to support on the corresponding accommodation surface of the filter plate frame that links the filter plate sub-frame, and the sub-frame slides into the frame along the accommodation surface.

[0013] In one embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, the support surface is arranged such that the dry coefficient of kinetic friction with respect to steel calculated according to ASTM standard D1894 is only 0.3. This can be achieved by selecting a material and / or surface roughness suitable for the support surface.

[0014] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, the reinforcing bar extends up to or beyond a corner between the tip surface portion associated with the reinforcing bar and the side surface portion adjacent to the tip surface portion. That is, by extending the reinforcing bar over the entire width of the sub-frame 1 (that is, in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction), the reinforcing bar will surely extend on the accommodation surface of the associated filter plate frame during use.

[0015] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, the reinforcing bar is made of a material different from that of the outer edge piece, and has a higher modulus of elasticity than that of the outer edge piece.

[0016] This can be achieved, for example, by making the reinforcing bar from a composite material such as steel or FRP, and making the outer edge piece from a synthetic resin material.

[0017] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, equal corner outer edge pieces are disposed at each corner between adjacent tip faces and side faces.

[0018] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, at least one of the outer edge pieces is a supply part piece including one or a plurality of supply openings for supplying a slurry to be filtered into the open area during use, and the supply part piece is detachably attached to an adjacent outer edge piece.

[0019] As a result, the supply part piece, which is easily worn by the influence of the coarse-grained slurry flow passing through the supply openings, can be individually replaced without replacing the entire sub-frame.

[0020] Although not necessarily required, preferably, the supply part piece can be removed from the adjacent outer edge piece in a direction away from the open area. According to this, since it is not necessary to remove the supply part piece inwardly toward the open area, the replacement of the supply part piece becomes even easier.

[0021] Although not necessarily required, preferably, the supply part piece is disposed on one or both of the first side face and the second side face. This position is particularly advantageous for the supply part piece because the side face is supported by the filter plate frame over its entire length. Also, since the supply part piece is not as structurally strong as the outer peripheral edge piece having no supply openings, it is important to provide it at this position.

[0022] Although not necessarily required, preferably, equal supply part pieces are disposed on both the first side face and the second side face.

[0023] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, a diaphragm groove is provided on a second flat surface facing the first flat surface of the outer edge region to accommodate and further attach a corresponding ball edge of the filter diaphragm. The diaphragm groove extends along the outer edge region and is formed on the individually separated outer edge pieces attached to each other to form a continuous annular groove.

[0024] For example, the diaphragm groove may have a cross-sectional profile having a hole portion opening toward the second flat portion of the filter plate sub-frame, a bottom portion, and a neck portion provided between the hole portion and the bottom portion. Further, the extending range of the bottom portion in the transverse direction may exceed the extending range of the neck portion. That is, in the cross-sectional profile of the diaphragm groove, a narrow constricted portion is formed with respect to the bottom portion 5a by the neck portion. Thereby, the corresponding bead edge of the filter diaphragm having the corresponding cross-sectional profile can be attached so as to fit exactly into the diaphragm groove.

[0025] Also, the range in which the bottom portion 5a extends in the transverse direction may be defined as the maximum extending range (i.e., width) in the transverse direction thereof, and in contrast, the range in which the neck portion extends in the transverse direction may be defined as the minimum extending range (i.e., width) in the transverse direction thereof. Therefore, the groove may preferably have a cross-sectional profile that is asymmetric with respect to a vertical axis of symmetry passing through the center point in the transverse direction of the minimum width portion of the neck portion. The vertical axis of symmetry is perpendicular to the plane extending over the entire sub-frame, and this plane is defined by the plane of the open region. The minimum width portion of the neck portion may be defined as a point on the cross-sectional profile of the groove, at which point the neck portion exhibits the minimum transverse extending range. In other words, the minimum width portion is defined as the narrowest point of the neck portion, i.e., the point having the minimum region of the neck portion along the horizontal direction that is perpendicular to the extending direction of the groove and parallel to the plane extending over the entire frame 4.

[0026] Furthermore, the bottom portion preferably extends further in the transverse direction from the axis of symmetry on the outer side in the transverse direction (the side facing outward when viewed from the open region) rather than on the inner side in the transverse direction (the side facing the open region).

[0027] With the above-described configuration, when the corresponding bead edge of the associated diaphragm is inserted into the diaphragm groove, it can withstand well the influence of torsion caused by the weight of the diaphragm itself.

[0028] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, a strip-shaped sealing groove is provided on the first flat portion of the outer edge region, and a corresponding sealing strip for sealing the filter plate below the sub-frame during use is accommodated and attached. The strip-shaped sealing groove extends along the outer edge region and is formed on individually separated outer edge pieces that are attached to each other, forming a continuous annular groove.

[0029] Although not necessarily required, preferably, the strip-shaped sealing groove has a cross-sectional profile including a bottom portion and a neck portion that opens between the bottom portion and the first flat portion of the sub-frame. Also, the cross-sectional width of the neck portion may be narrower than the cross-sectional width of the bottom portion. That is, in the cross-sectional profile of the sub-frame, the neck portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove is narrower than the bottom portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove when viewed along the direction in which the groove extends at a predetermined point.

[0030] Furthermore, the cross-sectional profile of the strip-shaped sealing groove may be asymmetric with respect to a perpendicular line extending perpendicular to the first flat portion through the lateral center point of the bottom portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove, thereby defining the chamber side (open region side) and the outside.

[0031] Although not necessarily required, preferably, the curvature of the bottom portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove on the chamber side may be greater than the curvature of the outside of the bottom portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove.

[0032] Although not necessarily required, preferably, in the cross-sectional profile of the filter plate sub-frame, on the chamber side, the curve of the bottom of the curved portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove extends to the neck portion without interruption. For example, the curvature of the bottom portion may transform into a continuous curve and extend to the neck portion.

[0033] Although not necessarily required, preferably, in the cross-sectional profile of the sub-frame, on the outside, the bottom portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove exhibits a straight contour that extends to the neck portion of the strip-shaped sealing groove.

[0034] In another embodiment according to the first aspect of the present disclosure, a partial seal is provided at the joint between adjacent outer edge pieces. Optimally, such a partial seal is provided at each joint between adjacent outer edge pieces.

[0035] Although not necessarily required, preferably, such a partial seal is provided at a part of the joint where the diaphragm groove and the strip seal groove coincide, as described above, and the partial seal is provided as a cylindrical wedge extending between the bottom of the diaphragm groove and the bottom of the strip seal groove.

Figure 5

Figure 6

[0037] FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a filter plate sub-frame 1 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The sub-frame 1 is substantially rectangular and includes an outer edge region 1a having a first side surface portion 2 and a second side surface portion 3 opposite thereto. The first and second side surface portions extend along the longitudinal direction of the sub-frame 1 and are parallel to each other. The outer edge region 1a further has a first front end surface portion 4 and a second front end surface portion 5 opposite thereto. These front end surface portions are parallel to each other and orthogonal to the side surface portions 2 and 3. The corner portions 6 connect the adjacent side surface portions 2 and 3 and the front end surface portions 4 and 5 to each other. Specifically, the outer edge region 1a defines a partition body and an open region 1b within the region.

[0038] Figure 2 more clearly shows a state where the outer edge region 1a includes a plurality of outer edge pieces, and the plurality of outer edge pieces form the outer edge of the sub-frame 1. Specifically, the first side surface portion 2 includes individually separated outer edge pieces that are attached to each other, and one of these outer edge pieces is the supply portion piece 2a'. Similarly, the second side surface portion 3 includes individually separated outer edge pieces that are detachably attached to each other, and one of these outer edge pieces is the supply portion piece 3a'. Although not shown, the supply portion pieces 2a', 3a' have one or more supply openings for supplying the slurry to be filtered into the open region during use. Specifically, the supply portion pieces 2a', 3a' can be removed from the adjacent outer edge pieces 2a, 3a in a direction away from the open region. Also, although not easily distinguishable in the attached drawings, the supply portion pieces 2a', 3a' match each other.

[0039] The first tip surface portion 4 includes a single outer edge piece 4a, or alternatively, the first tip surface portion 4 may be formed of a plurality of outer edge pieces. Similarly, the second tip surface portion 5 also consists of a single outer edge piece 5a, or alternatively, the second tip surface portion 5 may be formed of a plurality of outer edge pieces.

[0040] In the embodiment shown in the figure, the side surface portions 2, 3 and the tip surface portions 4, 5 are connected to each other at the corner portion 6. Specifically, the corner portion 6 includes a corner piece 6a that is detachably attached to the adjacent outer edge pieces 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a. It should be noted that the side surface portions 2, 3 and the tip surface portions 4, 5 may be configured to be directly coupled to each other without using the corners of individual parts as another method. In the embodiment of the attached drawings, the corner pieces 6a match each other.

[0041] Both the first tip surface portion 4 and the second tip surface portion 5 are each detachably attached to the outer edge pieces 4a and 5a of the first tip surface portion 4 and the second tip surface portion, and are provided with reinforcing bars 4b and 5b extending across the outer edge pieces. In the specifically illustrated embodiment, the reinforcing bars 4b and 5b are also detachably attached to the associated corner pieces 6a and extend across the corner pieces.

[0042] As already described, the reinforcing bars 4b and 5b are made of a material different from that of the outer edge pieces 2a to 6a, and the elastic modulus of the reinforcing bars 4b and 5b is higher than that of the outer edge pieces 2a to 6a. For example, the reinforcing bars 4b and 5b may be made of steel or a composite material, while the outer edge pieces 2a to 6a may be made of a synthetic resin material.

[0043] FIG. 3 shows a plan view of the sub-frame 1 of FIG. 1 as seen from the second flat portion 1d of the outer edge region. And FIG. 4 shows a plan view of the same exploded structure as FIG. 2 as seen from the second flat portion 1d of the outer edge region.

[0044] FIG. 5 shows a detailed view of the portion circled in FIG. 3 between the lower left corner 6 and the first side surface portion. Specifically, the diaphragm groove 7 accommodates the corresponding ball edge in the filter plate diaphragm and attaches such a diaphragm to the filter plate sub-frame 1. As can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 5, the diaphragm groove 7 is provided on the second flat portion 1d and extends along the outer edge region 1b. Specifically, the groove 7 is formed on the individually separated outer edge pieces 2a to 6a that are attached to each other, forming a continuous annular groove 7.

[0045] Also, FIG. 5 shows a sealing body 8 provided at the joint between the adjacent outer edge pieces 2a and 6a.

[0046] And FIG. 6 shows how the filter plate sub-frame 1 looks when viewed from the side. Specifically, it shows the first flat portion 1c and the second flat portion 1d of the outer edge region 1a. List of reference numerals
