Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0004] In the above-described toilet for animals, urine excreted onto the granular bodies passes through the gaps between the granular bodies and then moves from the upper space to the lower space through the through-hole in the partition part. The urine that has moved to the lower space accumulates in the lower space in a state of being absorbed by the water-absorbent sheet. When a bad odor is generated from the urine accumulated in the lower space, the odor may rise up to the upper space through the through-hole. This causes the bad odor to waft outside the toilet for animals.
[0005] The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object thereof is to provide a toilet for animals that makes it difficult for the odor of urine accumulated in the lower space to rise up to the upper space.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0006] The animal toilet according to the present invention includes a partition portion having a through-hole through which urine passes, an upper space that exists above the partition portion and in which a plurality of granular bodies are disposed, and a lower space that exists below the partition portion and in which the urine that has passed through the through-hole accumulates, and a depression for capturing the odor from the urine accumulated in the lower space is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion.
[0007] In this animal toilet, a depression for capturing the odor from the urine accumulated in the lower space is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion. Therefore, even when a bad odor is generated from the urine accumulated in the lower space, at least a part of the odor can be captured by the depression. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the odor from rising to the upper space through the through-hole.
Advantages of the Invention
[0008] According to the present invention, an animal toilet is realized in which the situation where the odor of the urine accumulated in the lower space rises to the upper space is less likely to occur.

Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention
[0010] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the description of the drawings, the same reference numerals are given to the same elements, and duplicate descriptions are omitted.
[0011] FIG. 1 is an end view showing an embodiment of an animal toilet according to the present invention. While referring to this figure, the outline of the configuration of the animal toilet 1 will be described. The animal toilet 1 includes a container 10, a drawer portion 14, a partition portion 20, a plurality of granular bodies 30, and a water-absorbing sheet 40. The container 10 has a box shape having a bottom surface portion 10a and a side surface portion 10b. In the present embodiment, the container 10 has a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape. As the material of the container 10, for example, plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene can be used.
[0012] The container 10 has an overhanging portion 10c provided so as to project from the side surface portion 10b to the inside of the container 10. The overhanging portion 10c may be a protrusion or a rib. The overhanging portion 10c may be integrally formed with the side surface portion 10b, or may be formed separately from the side surface portion 10b and then attached to the side surface portion 10b. The overhanging length of the overhanging portion 10c (the length in the direction perpendicular to the inner surface of the side surface portion 10b where the overhanging portion 10c is provided) is, for example, 5 mm or more and 15 mm or less.
[0013] The extraction part 14 can be inserted into and removed from the container 10 through the opening 12 formed in the side surface part 10b. A water-absorbing sheet 40 is accommodated in the extraction part 14. As the material of the extraction part 14, for example, plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene can be used.
[0014] The partition part 20 is placed on the overhanging part 10c. The partition part 20 is not fixed to the container 10. The partition part 20 is detachable from the container 10. The partition part 20 is substantially plate-shaped and is arranged parallel to the bottom surface part 10a. The partition part 20 has a through-hole 22 for urine to pass through. The partition part 20 is provided at a position separated from both the water-absorbing sheet 40 and the upper end of the container 10. Thereby, the partition part 20 vertically partitions the inside of the container 10. That is, the partition part 20 is arranged so as to partition the internal space of the container 10 into an upper space S1 and a lower space S2. The upper space S1 exists above the partition part 20 and is a space in which a plurality of granular bodies 30 are arranged. The lower space S2 exists below the partition part 20 and is a space in which urine passing through the through-hole 22 accumulates. Thus, the animal toilet 1 includes the upper space S1 and the lower space S2 defined by the partition part 20. As the material of the partition part 20, for example, plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene can be used.
[0015] In the upper space S1, a plurality of granular bodies 30 for treating excrement (urine) are arranged. The plurality of granular bodies 30 are arranged in the upper space S1 in a state of being laid on the partition part 20. When the animal toilet 1 is used, the granular bodies 30 will directly receive the excreted urine. The granular bodies 30 have water repellency. That is, the granular bodies 30 have the property of not absorbing any liquid such as urine at all or hardly absorbing it even if they do absorb.
[0016] For the granular material 30 to have water repellency, it is necessary that the water repellency rate measured by the following test is 80% or more. First, put 50 g equivalent of the granular material 30 (sample) into a sieve with an inner diameter of 10 cm and a mesh opening of 1 mm. Place an empty beaker under the sieve. Then, using a syringe (Terumo 60 ml syringe) with an outer cylinder inner diameter of 3 cm and a cylinder tip inner diameter of 4 mm, drip 30 ml of water onto the sample over 10 seconds. After leaving it for 1 minute, measure the amount of water in the beaker. The water repellency rate is defined as the ratio of the measured amount of water in the beaker to the amount of water dripped (30 ml). That is, if the amount of water in the beaker is 24 ml or more, the water repellency rate is 80% or more, so it can be said that the granular material 30 has water repellency. For reference, the water repellency rate of commercially available general absorbent cat litter is about 5%.
[0017] The granular material 30 is formed into a granular shape. Examples of such granular shapes include a sphere, a cylinder, an ellipsoid, etc. The particle size of the granular material 30 is, for example, 5 mm or more and 20 mm or less. Here, the particle size is defined as the diameter of the smallest sphere that can enclose the granular material 30. The granular material 30 preferably has an organic substance as the main material. Here, the main material refers to the material among one or two or more materials constituting the granular material 30 that has the largest weight ratio in the granular material 30. As the organic substance, for example, papers, tea leaves, plastics, or okara can be used.
[0018] Papers refer to materials mainly composed of pulp. Examples of papers include, in addition to ordinary paper, vinyl wallpaper classified material, photographic paper, release paper, fluff pulp, paper mill sludge, pulp sludge, etc. The vinyl wallpaper classified material is obtained by removing a part of polyvinyl chloride from vinyl wallpaper containing paper and polyvinyl chloride. Examples of plastics include, in addition to ordinary plastics, aluminum vapor-deposited film, disposable diaper classified material (plastic obtained by classifying disposable diapers), etc. The okara is preferably dried okara. These materials may be subjected to water repellent treatment.
[0019] The material constituting the granular body 30 may be only one, or may be two or more. In the former case, the material constituting the granular body 30 is only the above-described main material. In the latter case, the granular body 30 is composed of a mixture of the main material and other materials. Examples of other materials include gypsum. By adding gypsum, the water repellency of the granular body 30 can be enhanced. The amount of gypsum is, for example, 5% by weight or more and 15% by weight or less based on the whole of the granular body 30.
[0020] The granular body 30 can be manufactured, for example, by the following method. First, a granulated product that becomes the granular body 30 is formed by granulating the material to be granulated (the material constituting the granular body 30) using a granulating device. As the granulating device, for example, an extrusion granulator can be used. The granulated product may be subjected to a water repellency treatment as necessary. The water repellency treatment can be performed, for example, by coating the surface of the granulated product with a water repellent. When the water repellency treatment is not performed, it is preferable to increase the pressure applied to the material to be granulated during granulation so that gaps are not generated as much as possible in the granulated product. This is because such gaps serve as a path for moisture such as urine to penetrate into the granular body 30. Prior to granulation, the material to be granulated is subjected to pretreatment such as pulverization, kneading, and water addition as necessary. Further, after granulation, post-treatment such as sieving (sizing) and drying is performed as necessary.
[0021] A water-absorbing sheet 40 is disposed in the lower space S2. In the present embodiment, the water-absorbing sheet 40 is disposed in the lower space S2 in a state of being housed in the drawing portion 14. The water-absorbing sheet 40 absorbs urine that has passed through the through-hole 22 of the partition portion 20. That is, the urine that has passed through the through-hole 22 accumulates in the lower space S2 in a state of being absorbed by the water-absorbing sheet 40.
[0022] When the animal toilet 1 is in use, the urine excreted onto the granular body 30 passes through the gaps between the granular bodies 30 and flows downward. The urine moves from the upper space S1 to the lower space S2 through the through-hole 22 of the partition portion 20 and is absorbed by the water-absorbing sheet 40.
[0023] Hereinafter, with reference to FIGS. 2 to 10, the configuration of each part of the animal toilet 1 will be described in detail. FIGS. 2, 3, and 4 are an end view, a front view, and a plan view showing the container 10, respectively. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, an opening 12 for inserting and removing the drawer portion 14 is formed in the side surface portion 10b of the container 10. The opening 12 is located near the bottom surface portion 10a and has a horizontally long rectangular shape. The length of the opening 12 in the horizontal direction (the left-right direction in FIG. 3) is substantially equal to the inner width of the container 10, for example, 20 cm or more and 40 cm or less. The length of the opening 12 in the vertical direction (the up-down direction in FIG. 3) is, for example, 2 cm or more and 5 cm or less. Further, as shown in FIG. 4, in the present embodiment, the protruding portion 10c is composed of a ridge provided annularly over the entire circumference of the inner surface of the side surface portion 10b in plan view.
[0024] FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing the drawer portion 14. The drawer portion 14 has a bottom plate 14a, a front plate 14b, a front end plate 14c, and a pair of side plates 14d. The size of the bottom plate 14a is substantially equal to the size of the bottom surface portion 10a of the container 10. The front plate 14b has substantially the same shape and size as the opening 12. A handle 15 is attached to the front plate 14b.
[0025] FIGS. 6 and 7 are a plan view and a bottom view showing the partition portion 20, respectively. That is, FIGS. 6 and 7 show the upper surface (the surface on the upper region S1 side) and the lower surface (the surface on the lower region S2 side) of the partition portion 20, respectively. FIGS. 8 and 9 are end views along the lines VIII-VIII and IX-IX in FIG. 6, respectively. The partition portion 20 has a substantially rectangular shape in plan view (see FIG. 6). Here, the substantially rectangular shape means not limited to a rectangle but also includes a shape close to a rectangle such as a rounded rectangle.
[0026] The partition portion 20 has a plurality of through holes 22. In the following description, the "plurality of through holes 22" shall refer to all the through holes 22 provided in the partition portion 20 unless otherwise specified. The plurality of through holes 22 are two-dimensionally arranged in the partition portion 20. Specifically, the plurality of through holes 22 are two-dimensionally arranged along a first direction (the left-right direction in FIG. 6) and a second direction (the up-down direction in FIG. 6) intersecting the first direction. In the present embodiment, the second direction is a direction orthogonal to the first direction. That is, the plurality of through holes 22 are arranged in a square lattice pattern. The planar shape of each through hole 22 is circular. Each through hole 22 allows urine to pass through while preventing the granular material 30 from passing through.
[0027] As shown in FIG. 10, the lower surface of the partition portion 20 includes an inter-hole region R1 (the first inter-hole region), an inter-hole region R2 (the second inter-hole region), an internal region R3, and a peripheral region R4. The figure shows the lower surface of the partition portion 20. However, in the figure, the illustration of the depression 24 described later is omitted. The inter-hole region R1 is the region between adjacent through holes 22 along the first direction. The inter-hole region R2 is the region between adjacent through holes 22 along the second direction. The width of each of the inter-hole regions R1 and R2 is equal to the diameter of each through hole 22. The internal region R3 is the region surrounded by the inter-hole region R1 and the inter-hole region R2. In the present embodiment, the internal region R3 has a rectangular shape. The peripheral region R4 is the region other than the inter-hole region R1, the inter-hole region R2, and the internal region R3 on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. The peripheral region R4 is a frame-shaped region along the edge of the partition portion 20. All the through holes 22 are present inside the peripheral region R4.
[0028] As can be seen from FIG. 7, a recess 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. The recess 24 captures the odor from the urine accumulated in the lower space S2. The partition portion 20 is thinned at the portion where the recess 24 is provided. Therefore, the bottom of the recess 24 (the portion closest to the upper surface of the partition portion 20) is located above the lower end of the through hole 22. Only one recess 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. The recess 24 is provided across the inter-hole region R1, the inter-hole region R2, the inner region R3, and the peripheral region R4. That is, the recess 24 exists in all of the inter-hole region R1, the inter-hole region R2, the inner region R3, and the peripheral region R4.
[0029] The depth d1 of the recess 24 (see FIGS. 8 and 9) is preferably 1 / 4 or more of the thickness d2 of the partition portion 20, and more preferably 1 / 2 or more. The thickness d2 is the thickness of the partition portion 20 at the portion where the recess 24 is not provided and is equal to the length of each through hole 22. The thickness d2 is, for example, 5 mm or more and 20 mm or less. On the lower surface of the partition portion 20, the area of the portion where the recess 24 is provided is preferably larger than the area of the portion where the through holes 22 are provided (the total opening area of the plurality of through holes 22). Also, in a bottom view (see FIG. 7), the area ratio of the recess 24 in the partition portion 20 is preferably 25% or more, and more preferably 50% or more. Here, the area ratio of the recess 24 in the partition portion 20 is the ratio of the area of the portion where the recess 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20 to the entire area of the lower surface (including the portion where the through holes 22 are provided).
[0030] The recess 24 is spaced apart from each through hole 22. Therefore, the recess 24 is not continuous with the through hole 22. On the lower surface of the partition portion 20, the recess 24 is preferably spaced 2 mm or more from each through hole 22. The recess 24 is also spaced apart from the edge of the partition portion 20. For this reason, the recess 24 exists only in a part of each region (the inter-hole region R1, the inter-hole region R2, the inner region R3, the peripheral region R4).
[0031] The effects of the animal toilet 1 will be described. In the animal toilet 1, a depression 24 for capturing the odor from the urine accumulated in the lower space S2 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. Therefore, even when a foul odor is generated from the urine accumulated in the lower space S2, at least a part of the odor can be captured by the depression 24. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the odor from rising to the upper space S1 through the through hole 22. Therefore, an animal toilet 1 is realized that makes it difficult for the odor of the urine accumulated in the lower space S2 to rise to the upper space S1.
[0032] Making the depth d1 of the depression 24 larger makes it more difficult for the captured odor to escape from the depression 24. From such a viewpoint, the depth d1 is preferably 1 / 4 or more of the thickness d2 of the partition portion 20, and more preferably 1 / 2 or more. On the other hand, if the depth d1 is too large, the strength of the partition portion 20 may become insufficient. From such a viewpoint, the depth d1 is preferably 3 / 4 or less of the thickness d2.
[0033] When the area of the portion where the depression 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20 is larger than the area of the portion where the through hole 22 is provided, it is advantageous for increasing the ratio of the odor captured by the depression 24 (reducing the ratio of the odor rising to the upper space S1 through the through hole 22).
[0034] Increasing the area ratio of the depression 24 in the partition portion 20 makes it easier to capture more odor with the depression 24. From such a viewpoint, the area ratio of the depression 24 in the partition portion 20 as viewed from the bottom is preferably 25% or more, and more preferably 50% or more. On the other hand, if the area ratio is too large, the strength of the partition portion 20 may become insufficient. From such a viewpoint, the area ratio is preferably 75% or less.
[0035] The depression 24 is spaced apart from the through hole 22. By isolating the depression 24 from the through hole 22 in this way, it is possible to prevent the odor captured in the depression 24 from leaking into the upper space S1 through the through hole 22. Further, isolating the depression 24 from the through hole 22 is also advantageous in ensuring the strength of the partition portion 20. From this perspective, it is preferable that the depression 24 is spaced 2 mm or more from each through hole 22 on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. When the partition portion 20 is made of plastic, it becomes particularly important to sufficiently ensure the strength of the partition portion 20 in this way.
[0036] Only one depression 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20. In this case, compared with the case where a plurality of depressions 24 are provided, there is an advantage that it is easy to spread the depression 24 over a wide range of the lower surface of the partition portion 20.
[0037] The partition portion 20 has a plurality of through holes 22 two-dimensionally arranged along the first and second directions. By providing such a plurality of through holes 22, urine can be smoothly moved from the upper space S1 to the lower space S2.
[0038] The depression 24 is present in the inner region R3 of the lower surface of the partition portion 20. The inner region R3 is the region inside the four through holes 22 arranged at positions corresponding to the vertices of the quadrilateral. By providing the depression 24 in such an inner region R3, it is possible to effectively prevent the odor from rising up to the upper space S1 through the through holes 22.
[0039] The depression 24 is present in the peripheral region R4 of the lower surface of the partition portion 20. The peripheral region R4 is the region along the edge of the partition portion 20. By providing the depression 24 in such a peripheral region R4, it is possible to effectively prevent the odor from rising up to the upper space S1 through the edge of the partition portion 20 (the gap between the edge and the container 10).
[0040] The depression 24 is present in all of the inter-hole region R1, the inter-hole region R2, the inner region R3, and the peripheral region R4. Thereby, the depression 24 can be spread over a wide range of the lower surface of the partition portion 20.
[0041] Each granular body 30 has water repellency. In this case, most of the urine excreted onto the granular body 30 will not be absorbed by the granular body 30 but will pass through the gaps between the granular bodies 30. Thereby, the urine can be smoothly guided to the partition portion 20.
[0042] The animal toilet 1 is provided with a container 10 having an internal space partitioned into an upper space S1 and a lower space S2 by a partition portion 20. In this case, an animal toilet 1 having an upper space S1 and a lower space S2 can be realized with one container (container 10). This is advantageous for simplifying the configuration of the animal toilet 1.
[0043] The partition portion 20 is not fixed to the container 10. In this case, the attachment and detachment of the partition portion 20 to and from the container 10 become easy.
[0044] The partition portion 20 is placed on the overhanging portion 10c. Thereby, the partition portion 20 can be held at a predetermined position within the container 10 without being fixed to the container 10.
[0045] A water-absorbent sheet 40 is disposed in the lower space S2. Thereby, the urine accumulated in the lower space S2 can be confined within the water-absorbent sheet 40. Therefore, the generation of a bad odor caused by the urine can be alleviated.
[0046] The animal toilet 1 is provided with a drawer portion 14 that can be inserted and removed with respect to the container 10. Thereby, the operation of replacing the used water-absorbent sheet 40 with a new one can be easily performed.
[0047] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications are possible. In the above-described embodiments, the case where only one depression 24 is provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20 was illustrated. However, a plurality of depressions 24 may be provided on the lower surface of the partition portion 20, for example, as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12. In both figures, there are no depressions 24 in the inter-hole regions R1 and R2. In FIG. 11, the depressions 24 exist only in the internal region R3 and the peripheral region R4. In FIG. 12, the depressions 24 exist only in the internal region R3.
[0048] When providing a plurality of depressions 24 in this way, since the partition portion 20 is not thinned between the depressions 24, it is advantageous for ensuring the strength of the partition portion 20. Also, between the through holes 22 is a relatively fragile portion of the partition portion 20. Therefore, not providing the depressions 24 in the inter-hole regions R1 and R2 is particularly advantageous for ensuring the strength of the partition portion 20.
[0049] In the above-described embodiments, the case where the planar shape of the through hole 22 is circular was illustrated. However, the planar shape of the through hole 22 is arbitrary and may be, for example, a polygon such as a rectangle or an ellipse.
[0050] In the above-described embodiments, the case where the drawing portion 14 is provided was illustrated. However, it is not essential to provide the drawing portion 14. When the drawing portion 14 is not provided, the water-absorbing sheet 40 is disposed directly on the bottom surface portion 10a. In that case, of course, the opening 12 is not provided in the side surface portion 10b.
[0051] In the above-described embodiments, the case where the water-absorbing sheet 40 is disposed in the lower space S2 was illustrated. However, it is not essential to dispose the water-absorbing sheet 40 in the lower space S2. When the water-absorbing sheet 40 is not disposed, the drawing portion 14 is not provided either.
[0052] In the above-described embodiment, the case where the upper space S1 and the lower space S2 are constituted by one container 10 was exemplified. However, for example, as shown in FIG. 13, the container 52 that constitutes the upper space S1 and the container 54 that constitutes the lower space S2 may be provided separately. In the figure, each of the containers 52 and 54 has a box shape having a bottom surface portion and a side surface portion. The container 52 is stacked on the container 54. And the bottom surface portion of the container 52 serves as the partition portion 20.
[0053] In the above-described embodiment, the case where a water-repellent granular material is used as the granular material 30 was exemplified. However, as the granular material 30, a water-permeable granular material may be used. The water-permeable granular material is configured such that urine passes through its interior.
