[0005] JP 2000-143454 A JP 2020-050613 A
[0006] Oil-based cosmetic compositions having moderately hard properties, such as hair balms, and oil-based cosmetic compositions having hard properties, such as hair clays, are known. These oil-based cosmetic compositions contain an oil component that is solid at 25°C to impart hardness to the oil-based cosmetic composition.
[0007] However, it is difficult to sufficiently improve the spreadability of conventional oil-based cosmetic compositions that contain oily ingredients that are solid at 25°C.
[0008] An object of the present invention is to provide a water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition that can spread better than an oil-based cosmetic composition having the same properties.
[0009] The present inventors have conducted extensive research into cosmetic compositions that can spread better than oil-based cosmetic compositions having the same properties, while still containing an oily component that is solid at 25° C. As a result, the present inventors have found that the above-mentioned problems can be solved by the following cosmetic composition.
[0010] The present invention provides a water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition comprising the following components (A), (B), (C), and (D), wherein the content of component (D) is 15.0 mass% or more and 50.0 mass% or less:
[0011] Component (A): An oily component that is solid at 25°C and has a melting point of 65°C or higher and 100°C or lower, selected from the group consisting of animal and vegetable oils and hydrocarbon oils. Component (B): An oily component that is liquid at 25°C, selected from the group consisting of vegetable oils and fatty acid triglycerides. Component (C): A nonionic surfactant that has a linear saturated alkyl chain having 13 or more carbon atoms and an HLB value of 2.8 or higher and 8.0 or lower. Component (D): Water.
[0012] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention preferably contains the following component (E).
[0013] Component (E): Polyglyceryl polyricinoleate
[0014] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention preferably contains the following component (F).
[0015] Component (F): a phosphate surfactant having an HLB value of more than 8.0 and not more than 12.0
[0016] In the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention, the content of the component (B) and the oily component other than component (B) that is liquid at 25°C and is selected from the group consisting of ester oil, hydrocarbon oil, and silicone oil is preferably 15.0% by mass or more and 70.0% by mass or less.
[0017] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention preferably contains the following component (G), and the content of component (B) and an oily component other than component (B) that is liquid at 25°C and is selected from the group consisting of ester oils, hydrocarbon oils, and silicone oils is 5.0% by mass or more and 25.0% by mass or less.
[0018] Component (G): Powder
[0019] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is preferably a hair cosmetic composition.
[0020] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention contains specific component (A), specific component (B), specific component (C), and specific component (D), and the content of component (D) is 15.0 mass% or more and 50.0 mass% or less. Because the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention has the above-mentioned configuration, it can spread more easily than an oil-based cosmetic composition having the same properties.
[0021] When the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a hair cosmetic composition, component (B) can provide good hair management, and when the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a skin cosmetic composition, component (B) can provide a good moisturizing feel to the skin.
[0022] The present invention will be described in detail below.
[0023] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention comprises an oily component that is solid at 25°C and has a melting point of 65°C or higher and 100°C or lower, and is selected from the group consisting of animal and vegetable oils and hydrocarbon oils; an oily component that is liquid at 25°C and is selected from the group consisting of vegetable oils and fatty acid triglycerides; a nonionic surfactant that has a linear saturated alkyl chain with 13 or more carbon atoms and an HLB value of 2.8 or higher and 8.0 or lower; and water.
[0024] In this specification, the above-mentioned "oil component which is solid at 25°C and has a melting point of 65°C or higher and 100°C or lower, selected from the group consisting of animal and vegetable oils and hydrocarbon oils" may be referred to as "component (A)."
[0025] In this specification, the above-mentioned "oil component that is liquid at 25°C and is selected from the group consisting of vegetable oils and fatty acid triglycerides" may be referred to as "component (B)".
[0026] In this specification, the above-mentioned "nonionic surfactant having a linear saturated alkyl chain with 13 or more carbon atoms and an HLB value of 2.8 or more and 8.0 or less" may be referred to as "component (C)."
[0027] In this specification, the above-mentioned "water" may be referred to as "component (D)."
[0028] Therefore, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention comprises component (A), component (B), component (C), and component (D).
[0029] In the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention, the content of component (D) is 15.0% by mass or more and 50.0% by mass or less.
[0030] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention has the above-mentioned configuration, and therefore can spread more easily than an oil-based cosmetic composition having the same properties. For example, when the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a hair balm, it can spread more easily than a conventional hair balm (oil-based cosmetic composition). Furthermore, when the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a hair clay, it can spread more easily than a conventional hair clay (oil-based cosmetic composition).
[0031] The reason why the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention can spread better than an oil-based cosmetic composition having the same properties is presumed to be as follows.
[0032] In typical oil-based cosmetic compositions, hardness is imparted by the formation of a specific structure in an oil component that is liquid at 25°C due to the oil component being solid at 25°C. However, in oil-based cosmetic compositions, the size of the above structure is relatively large, and it is thought that the spreadability cannot be sufficiently improved. In contrast, in the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention, hardness is imparted by the structure formed by the oil component that is solid at 25°C (component (A)), but the presence of the dispersed aqueous phase inhibits the formation of the above structure to some extent, and the size of the structure formed is relatively small. For this reason, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention can spread better than oil-based cosmetic compositions having the same properties.
[0033] It should be noted that the above mechanism is merely a hypothesis, and the reason why the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention can spread better than an oil-based cosmetic composition having the same properties is not limited to this.
[0034] Furthermore, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention can effectively reduce stickiness.
[0035] When the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a hair cosmetic composition, it can keep hair in place well.
[0036] When the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention is a skin cosmetic composition, it can impart a good moisturizing feeling to the skin.
[0037] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention also has improved applicability, allowing the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition taken up with the fingers to be easily spread on the palm, and also allowing the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition to be easily and uniformly transferred to the hair or skin when applied to the hair or skin.
[0038] Furthermore, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention can have good wash-off properties.
[0039] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention may contain polyglyceryl polyricinoleate.
[0040] In this specification, the above-mentioned "polyglyceryl polyricinoleate" may be referred to as "component (E)."
[0041] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention may contain a phosphate surfactant having an HLB value of more than 8.0 and not more than 12.0.
[0042] In this specification, the above-mentioned "phosphate surfactant having an HLB value of more than 8.0 and not more than 12.0" may be referred to as "component (F)."
[0043] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention may contain powder.
[0044] In this specification, the above-mentioned "powder" may be referred to as "component (G)".
[0045] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention may contain components other than components (A) to (G).
[0046] The above-mentioned components, for example, component (A), component (B), component (C), component (E), component (F), component (G), and other components, may each be used alone or in combination of two or more.
[0047] In this specification, "solid at 25°C" means a state that is not fluid at 25°C, and includes a state that is semi-solid (paste-like, etc.) at 25°C. On the other hand, "liquid at 25°C" means a state that is fluid at 25°C.
[0048] In addition, in this specification, the content of each component refers to the total content of all of the components contained in the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition. [0164] (Examples 1 to 17 and Comparative Examples 1 to 5) The ingredients shown in Tables 1 to 5 below were blended (blending units are mass %), and the ingredients were mixed and emulsified while heating to prepare mixed liquids. 50 g of the resulting mixed liquid was poured into a jar (cylindrical, bottom diameter 45 mm, height 45 mm). After pouring, the mixed liquid was allowed to stand for 24 hours to cool and solidify, thereby preparing a water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition. The blend amounts in the tables (amount blended out of 100% by mass of the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition) are shown as the pure blend amount (unit: mass %).
[0165] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions prepared in Examples 1 to 10 were balm-like water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions (hair balms), and the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions prepared in Examples 11 to 17 were clay-like water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions (hair clays). The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition prepared in Comparative Example 1 was a cosmetic composition with properties different from either a balm or a clay. In Comparative Examples 2 and 3, the compositions could not be emulsified, and therefore further evaluations were not performed. Furthermore, in Comparative Examples 4 and 5, the compositions could not be emulsified into water-in-oil emulsions, and instead oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic compositions were obtained, and therefore evaluations other than those of Test Example 3 were not performed.
[0166] (Comparative Example 1: Oil-based cosmetic composition (hair balm)) The ingredients shown in Table 6 below were blended (blending units are mass %) and heated and mixed to prepare a mixed liquid. 50 g of the resulting mixed liquid was poured into a jar (cylindrical, bottom diameter 45 mm, height 45 mm). After pouring, the mixed liquid was allowed to stand for 24 hours to cool and solidify, thereby preparing an oil-based cosmetic composition (hair balm). The blend amounts in the table (blending amounts relative to 100% by mass of the oil-based cosmetic composition) are shown as the blend amounts of pure components (unit: mass %).
[0167] (Comparative Example 2: Oil-based cosmetic composition (hair clay)) The ingredients shown in Table 6 below were blended (blending units are mass %) and heated and mixed to prepare a mixed liquid. 50 g of the resulting mixed liquid was poured into a jar container (cylindrical, bottom diameter 45 mm, height 45 mm). After pouring, the mixed liquid was allowed to stand for 24 hours to cool and solidify, thereby preparing an oil-based cosmetic composition (hair clay). The blend amounts in the table (blending amounts relative to 100% by mass of the oil-based cosmetic composition) are shown as the blend amounts of the pure components (unit: mass %).
[0168] (Evaluation) The obtained water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions and oil-based cosmetic compositions were evaluated as follows: Evaluations of Test Examples 1 to 4 were carried out by a panel of three experts, who discussed and decided the evaluation results.
[0169] (Test Example 1: Spreadability) The obtained water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions were evaluated for their good spreadability compared to oil-based cosmetic compositions having the same properties. That is, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions (hair balms) prepared in Examples 1 to 10 were compared with the oil-based cosmetic composition (hair balm) prepared in Comparative Example 1. In addition, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions (hair clays) prepared in Examples 11 to 17 were compared with the oil-based cosmetic composition (hair clay) prepared in Comparative Example 2. The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition prepared in Comparative Example 1 was compared with the oil-based cosmetic composition (hair balm) prepared in Comparative Example 1.
[0170] Approximately 1 g of the obtained cosmetic composition was placed in the palm of the hand, and the palms were rubbed together to spread it on the palms. The ease of spreading was evaluated according to the following criteria.
[0171] <Evaluation criteria for spreadability> ◯ (Good): Spreadability is clearly better than the comparative example. × (Poor): Spreadability is only slightly better than the comparative example or is equal to or worse than the comparative example.
[0172] (Test Example 2: Hair manageability) Approximately 1 g of the obtained water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition was placed in the palm of the hand, spread on the palm, and then applied to a loosely wavy medium-length hair wig (manufactured by Eucalyptus Japan Co., Ltd.) by gripping the hair, followed by styling (wavy hairstyle). Three hours after styling, the wig hair was visually observed, and the manageability of the hair was evaluated according to the following criteria.
[0173] <Evaluation criteria for hair manageability> ○ (Good): Wavy hairstyle is maintained × (Poor): Hair is untidy or loses its waves, and the hairstyle is not maintained
[0174] (Test Example 3: Stickiness) The wigs were touched with their hands immediately after styling in Test Example 2. As a result, the wigs that had been styled using the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions obtained in the Examples did not feel sticky.
