Description

label

[0001] The present disclosure relates to labels.

[0002] For purposes such as sales promotion, labels are used that display details of sales promotion campaigns and serial numbers required for entry into giveaways or lotteries. As described in Patent Document 1, for example, such labels are provided in a position where hidden information such as the serial number is not visible when the label is attached, and the serial number can be made visible by, for example, opening a portion of the label. This allows only those who have purchased the product to open or peel off the label and enter the giveaway or lottery. Furthermore, displaying a unique ID such as a two-dimensional code is also effective for authenticating the product.

[0003] Utility Model Registration No. 3169174 JP 2021-144140 A Patent No. 6966745 A

[0004] However, since it was relatively easy to produce similar labels using standard printing techniques, it was difficult to distinguish genuine products from counterfeit ones when a malicious person affixed a counterfeit label to a product.

[0005] Holograms are used as a technology that makes counterfeiting difficult and makes it easy to determine authenticity. For example, holograms have been affixed to parts of gift certificates and the like. If this hologram technology could be applied to the above-mentioned labels, it would be possible to prevent counterfeiting and determine authenticity at a relatively low cost.

[0006] However, labels that display the details of sales promotion campaigns or serial numbers required for entry into prize draws or lotteries require printed markings or other identifying features. Typically, such labels are affixed to products for sale for a specific period of time, and are sometimes only as small as a coin so that they can be affixed in a limited space without interfering with other product displays. Therefore, such small labels often do not have enough surface area to allow the printed markings and holograms to be arranged separately and at a size that makes them both visible. Therefore, it has been impossible to combine printed markings and holograms on such small labels.

[0007] Furthermore, when the article to which such conventional labels are attached is transparent (light-transmitting), there is a risk that information such as the serial number may be visible through the front or back of the label. In particular, when a strong light is shone on the label or the label is held up to a strong light source, the information such as the serial number may not be visible at first glance, or may be observable even when the label is left attached in a state where the information such as the serial number cannot be seen unless it is peeled off.

[0008] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a label that can visually display both a printed display or the like and a hologram even when the label is small. Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a label that can prevent hidden information from being discovered even when the label is attached to a light-transmitting article.

[0009] The present disclosure solves the above-mentioned problems by the following means: For ease of understanding, the following description will be given with reference numerals corresponding to the embodiments of the present disclosure, but the present disclosure is not limited to these.

[0028] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0029] (First Embodiment) FIG. 1 is a front view showing a first embodiment of a label 1 according to the present disclosure from the front side. FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the label 1 taken along the arrow A-A in FIG. 1. FIG. 3 is a front view showing the label 1 with the cover layer 20 removed. Note that the figures shown below, including FIGS. 1 to 3, are schematic views, and the size and shape of each part are exaggerated or omitted as appropriate for ease of understanding. In the following description, specific numerical values, shapes, materials, etc. are used for explanation, but these can be changed as appropriate. In addition, in the present invention, "transparent" refers to something that transmits at least light of the wavelength to be used.

[0030] The label 1 of this embodiment is formed in a substantially square shape when viewed from the front side, and is used by being attached to an article such as a product during a sales promotion campaign, etc. The label 1 has a main body layer 10 and a cover layer 20, and can be opened by simply peeling a portion of the cover layer 20 from the main body layer 10. The front side of the page in Fig. 1 and the protective layer 25 side in Fig. 2 are referred to as the front side (or surface side), and the back side of the page in Fig. 1 and the separator layer 14 side in Fig. 2 are referred to as the back side (or rear side).

[0031] The main body layer 10 is formed by laminating, from the front side, an information display portion 12, a main body-side base material layer 11, a label-attaching adhesive layer 13, and a separator layer 14 in this order.

[0032] The body-side base layer 11 is preferably made of a resin film, a resin sheet, paper, or the like, but any material may be used. For example, the body-side base layer 11 may be made of inkjet paper, fine paper, kraft paper, copy paper, glassine paper, rayon paper, coated paper, synthetic paper, paper laminated with a resin film, NIP fine paper, oriented polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, oriented polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or the like. By forming the body-side base layer 11 using such a material, the label 1 is flexible and can be properly attached to the surface of the object to which it is attached, even if the surface is curved.

[0033] The information display unit 12 displays various types of visible information. The display content of the information display unit 12 may be any type, including, for example, a character code that indicates specific information using a combination of character strings, a barcode, a code containing information using a graphic pattern, or a two-dimensional code. The display content of the information display unit 12 may be fixed information that does not change from label to label, or may be unique variable information (ID: Identification) that differs from label to label. Examples of variable information include a serial number for campaign entries. The information display unit 12 can be printed on the front side of the body-side base material layer 11. In this embodiment, the information display unit 12 displays unique information using a two-dimensional code. The front side of the information display unit 12 is not bonded to the back side of the cover-side base material layer 21.

[0034] The label-attaching adhesive layer 13 is laminated on the back side of the main body-side base material layer 11 and is composed of an adhesive for attaching the label 1 to an article such as a commodity when it is used. A wide variety of ordinary adhesives with adhesive properties can be used to form the label-attaching adhesive layer 13. While rubber-based solvent-based adhesives such as NR, SBR, IR, and CR are the mainstream, emulsion-type acrylic adhesives can also be used. Other adhesives include silicone-based and polyvinyl ether-based adhesives, and any of these can also be used. A hot-melt adhesive may also be used. The label-attaching adhesive layer 13 does not require light transparency because it does not affect the visibility of the information display section 12 and the printing layer 22.

[0035] The separator layer 14, also known as release paper or release sheet, is laminated on the back side of the label adhesive layer 13. The separator layer 14 protects the label adhesive layer 13 when the label 1 is unused, i.e., before it is attached to an item, and prevents the label adhesive layer 13 from accidentally adhering to other items. While the separator layer 14 is shown as a single layer in the figure, it may also be configured as a laminate of, for example, a substrate layer and a release layer. The separator layer 14 is peeled and removed when the label 1 is attached to an item. The separator layer 14 can be made of the same material as the main body substrate layer 11, and the surface on which the label adhesive layer 13 is formed can be coated with an ultraviolet-curable (UV) ink for offset printing to which silicone oil or silicone acrylate has been added to impart releasability. Alternatively, the separator layer 14 may be formed by applying a normal thermosetting release ink to a material similar to that of the main body side substrate layer 11 .

[0036] The cover layer 20 is partially bonded to the front side of the main body layer 10 using a cover bonding layer 30 described below. The cover layer 20 is formed by laminating, from the front side, a protective layer 25, a hologram layer 23, a hologram bonding layer 24, a printing layer 22, and a cover-side base material layer 21 in this order.

[0037] The cover-side substrate layer 21 is preferably made of a resin film, resin sheet, paper, or the like, but any material may be used. For example, the main body-side substrate layer 11 may be made of inkjet paper, fine paper, kraft paper, copy paper, glassine paper, rayon paper, coated paper, synthetic paper, paper laminated with a resin film, NIP fine paper, oriented polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, oriented polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or the like. The cover-side substrate layer 21 may be made of the same material as the main body-side substrate layer 11. Under normal circumstances, the cover-side substrate layer 21 does not have enough light transmittance to allow the display of the information display unit 12 to be visible. Therefore, when the cover layer 20 covers the main body layer 10, the display of the information display unit 12 is usually not visible.

[0038] The printed layer 22 is provided on the front side of the cover-side base material layer 21. For example, the product name, characters representing a campaign, etc. are printed on the printed layer 22. In this embodiment, characters and an explanation representing the campaign, and a symbol (▽OPEN) indicating the position where the cover layer 20 should be opened are printed on the printed layer 22.

[0039] The hologram layer 23 has a first interference fringe pattern that is converted into a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image when detection light from a point light source positioned away from the incident surface is incident thereon, and a second interference fringe pattern that is converted into a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image when light from a light source with no specific irradiation direction is incident on the incident surface, recorded in a superimposed manner. Here, the "incident surface" refers to the incident surface of the hologram layer 23, more specifically, the front surface of the hologram layer 23. However, since the hologram layer 23 is not exposed to the outside, the "incident surface" is essentially the surface of the protective layer 25. Furthermore, "light from a light source with no specific irradiation direction" refers to light that reaches the hologram layer 23 in an uncontrolled light source, such as indoors or outdoors, without irradiating light from a specific direction to visualize the hologram. For example, diffused light reaching the hologram layer 23 from various directions is an example. Furthermore, when the label 1 is attached to an item such as a commodity, it is assumed that the positional relationship between the label 1 and the light source is not specified when the item is picked up, and light reaches the label 1 from various directions. Such a case can also be cited as an example of a state in which "light from a light source with no specified irradiation direction is incident on the incident surface." The configuration and manufacturing method of a hologram layer in which first interference fringes converted into a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image and second interference fringes converted into a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image are superimposed are disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-177038. The hologram layer 23 of this embodiment has the same configuration and is manufactured by the same manufacturing method as those in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-177038, and detailed description thereof will be omitted here.

[0040] Furthermore, in the hologram layer 23 of this embodiment, when observed with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, a second interference fringe is created so that the volume reflection hologram reconstructed image is not displayed outward when observed from within a specified angle range from the normal direction of the label, but is displayed outward when observed from a range beyond the specified angle range from the normal direction of the label.

[0041] The hologram layer 23 is basically optically transparent, and the printed display of the printing layer 22 can be seen through the hologram layer 23. Furthermore, when a hologram reconstruction image is visible, the hologram reconstruction image is also transparent, and therefore the printing layer 22 can be seen through the hologram reconstruction image, but the presence of the hologram reconstruction image makes the printing layer 22 difficult to see clearly. How the hologram layer 23 appears will be described later.

[0042] The hologram bonding layer 24 is laminated between the printing layer 22 and the hologram layer 23 and serves to bond (adhere) the hologram bonding layer 24 to the printing layer 22. The hologram bonding layer 24 may be, for example, a heat-seal layer that exhibits adhesive properties when heated and pressurized. The hologram bonding layer 24 must be optically transparent (transparent) so that the printed display of the printing layer 22 can be visible through the hologram layer 23. The hologram bonding layer 24 may be formed using a material containing cations. For example, the hologram bonding layer 24 may be formed using an emulsion-type acrylic material, a rubber-based material, a silicone-based material, or the like. The hologram bonding layer 24 may also be formed using an adhesive similar to that used for the label-attaching adhesive layer 13, but must be optically transparent. The thickness of the hologram bonding layer 24 is preferably, for example, 0.1 μm to 20 μm. If the thickness of the hologram bonding layer 24 is less than 0.1 μm, sufficient adhesive strength with the print layer 22 cannot be obtained, and if it is more than 20 μm, blocking is likely to occur during the hologram manufacturing process.

[0043] The protective layer 25 is provided on the front side of the hologram layer 23 and is a transparent layer that protects the hologram layer 23. The protective layer 25 may be, for example, an overprint layer (OP layer) formed by applying an overprint varnish.

[0044] In addition to the cover-side substrate layer 21, printing layer 22, hologram bonding layer 24, hologram layer 23, and protective layer 25 described above, the cover layer 20 may also include a primer layer disposed between the hologram bonding layer 24 and the hologram layer 23. The primer layer is not shown in the drawings. The primer layer may be formed between the hologram bonding layer 24 and the hologram layer 23, covering the entire surface or a portion of each layer. The adhesive strength between the hologram bonding layer 24 and the hologram layer 23 is improved by providing the primer layer. Furthermore, the durability of the laminated structure of the cover layer 20 before being laminated with the main body layer 10 and the cover bonding layer 30 is improved by providing the primer layer.

[0045] The cover bonding layer 30 is a layer that bonds the main body layer 10 and the cover layer 20, and is provided in a position that does not overlap with the information display section 12. As shown in Fig. 3, in this embodiment, the cover bonding layer 30 is formed in a substantially U-shape along three sides of a square that surrounds the information display section 12 when viewed from the front side. Because the cover bonding layer 30 is provided in a position that does not overlap with the information display section 12, it does not need to be optically transparent, and can be formed using an adhesive similar to that of the label attachment adhesive layer 13.

[0046] The cover layer 20 also has a planned cutting line 26 that facilitates cutting near the boundary between the area where the cover bonding layer 30 is provided and the area where it is not provided. The planned cutting line 26 may be a perforation in which the cut portion and the non-cut portion are linearly continuous, or may be a half-cut that cuts the cover layer 20 partway through the thickness direction. The planned cutting line 26 may also be a perforation in which the cut portion and the non-cut portion are linearly continuous, and the cut portion may be cut all the way to the main layer 10. In this embodiment, the planned cutting line 26 is a perforation that extends from the end of one side of the cover layer 20 where the cover bonding layer 30 is not provided to the vicinity of the cover bonding layer 30 provided along the side opposite this side, at a position that does not overlap with the cover bonding layer 30.

[0047] 4 is a diagram showing the state in which the cover layer 20 is cut along the planned cutting line 26 and the central portion of the cover layer 20 is peeled open. As shown in FIG. 4 , by cutting along the planned cutting line 26, the central portion of the cover layer 20 in the area where the cover bonding layer 30 is not provided can be peeled open, and the display on the information display unit 12 can be viewed. Even when a portion of the cover layer 20 is peeled open, one end of the cover layer 20 remains bonded to the main body layer 10 by the cover bonding layer 30, and therefore the cover layer 20 is not separated from the main body layer 10. A consumer who purchases a product or the like can peel open a portion of the cover layer 20 as shown in FIG. 4 and use information such as a two-dimensional code displayed on the information display unit 12.

[0048] The label 1 also has cut portions 1a cut at the same positions in both the main layer 10 and the cover layer 20. In this embodiment, the cut portions 1a are provided at each of the four corners of the label 1 when viewed from the front side. When an attempt is made to peel off the label 1 attached to a product, etc., the label 1 will tear at the cut portions 1a, preventing it from being reattached. Furthermore, if the planned cutting line 26 is a perforation in which the cut portion and the non-cut portion are linearly connected, and the cut portion is cut all the way to the main layer 10, the label 1 will not tear at the planned cutting line 26 and be reattached.

[0049] Next, the appearance of the hologram layer 23 will be described. FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the appearance of the label 1 when viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. As shown in FIG. 5 , when viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction (within a range of ±θ in FIG. 5 ), no hologram image is visible from either the first interference fringe or the second interference fringe of the hologram layer 23. Therefore, the hologram layer 23 is observed as transparent, and the display in the printing layer 22 is visible. The information displayed on the printing layer 22, such as product names and campaign information, is important for consumers to easily view. Therefore, it is important that the display in the printing layer 22 is visible without being obstructed by the hologram layer 23 when the label 1 is viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. The ±θ range shown in FIG. 5 , in which the hologram image is not visible, can be appropriately changed by changing the settings of the hologram layer 23.

[0050] Note that even when the display on the printing layer 22 is visible, the volume reflection hologram actually exists, although it merely appears to the human eye as if it has disappeared. That is, when the angle at which the item to which the label 1 is affixed is changed, the volume reflection hologram is visible when observed from a direction that matches the angle at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible, but is difficult to see or is not visible at all when observed from a direction outside the angle range at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible, and appears to have disappeared to the human eye. The range of ±θ shown in Figure 5 in the above example is the angle range in which the direction is outside the angle range at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible.

[0051] For ease of understanding, the following description has been given with reference to an example in which the hologram layer 23 appears transparent when the label 1 is viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. However, the central direction in which the label 1 is not visible under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction (the normal direction of the label 1 is exemplified in the above example) can be changed as appropriate. The angle at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible can be set as appropriate during duplication (manufacturing) and may be set arbitrarily depending on the situation in which the label 1 is used and the item to which the label 1 is affixed. For example, the opposite of the above example may be used, i.e., the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image is observed within an angle range close to the normal direction of the label 1, but the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image is not observed when viewed from a direction angled significantly from the normal direction of the label 1.

[0052] As described above, the label 1 of this embodiment has a predetermined angle range (±θ in the example of FIG. 5 ) within which only the printing layer 22 can be observed, without the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image of the hologram layer 23 being observed. This predetermined angle range within which only the printing layer 22 can be observed, without the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image being observed, can be set appropriately during duplication (manufacturing), and can be set arbitrarily depending on the situation in which the label 1 will be used and the item to which the label 1 will be affixed. For example, when the label 1 is affixed to a flat surface as shown in FIG. 5 , θ = 20 degrees to 60 degrees can be exemplified. Note that the specific example of the angle described above is merely an example and can be changed as appropriate.

[0053] Figure 6 is a diagram showing how the label 1 appears when observed from a range exceeding a predetermined angle from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. As shown in Figure 6, when observed from a range exceeding a predetermined angle from the normal direction of the label 1 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, a volume reflection hologram reconstructed image H2 reconstructed by the second interference fringes is visible superimposed on the display of the printing layer 22. Because this volume reflection hologram reconstructed image H2 is visible under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, i.e., under normal ambient light, it is easy to confirm that the label 1 is authentic and the anti-counterfeiting effect can be enhanced.

[0054] The volume reflection hologram reconstructed image H2 provides an easy and reliable authentication and anti-counterfeiting effect. However, a malicious individual with hologram production technology could potentially create a counterfeit, making authentication difficult. Therefore, in order to further enhance the authentication and anti-counterfeiting effects, the label 1 of this embodiment makes it possible to utilize a Fourier transform hologram reconstructed image H1 (see FIG. 7 ) reconstructed from the first interference fringes.

[0055] FIG. 7 shows how the label 1 appears when detection light from a point light source disposed at a distance from the incident surface is incident on the label 1. As shown in FIG. 7 , the detection light irradiated from the point light source LS causes a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 reconstructed by the first interference fringes to be superimposed on the display on the printing layer 22. Also, as shown in FIG. 7 , the display on the printing layer 22 is difficult to see with the naked eye while the point light source LS is irradiating the label 1. This is because the Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 reconstructed by the first interference fringes is emphasized more than the display on the printing layer 22. By visually recognizing this Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1, it is possible to confirm that the product is genuine. This Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 is visible only when detection light from the point light source is incident on the label 1. Therefore, because it is not visible under normal viewing conditions, the presence of the Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 reconstructed by the first interference fringes is difficult to notice, further enhancing the anti-counterfeiting effect. Furthermore, the high anti-counterfeiting effect increases the effectiveness of authenticity determination, i.e., the certainty that the product is genuine.

[0056] As described above, this embodiment includes a hologram layer 23 in which the volume reflection hologram reconstructed image is not displayed outward when observed from within a predetermined angle range relative to the label 1, but is displayed outward when observed from an angle beyond the predetermined range relative to the label 1. This makes it possible to make the display on the printing layer 22 and the hologram image both clearly visible, even when they coexist in a small area. Therefore, even on a small label, it is possible to have a printed display or the like and a hologram coexist in a state where both are visible.

[0057] The hologram layer 23 also includes first interference fringes that are converted into a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image when detection light from a point light source LS disposed at a distance from the incident surface is incident thereon. This Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 is emphasized more than the printed layer 22, making the display on the printed layer 22 less visible. This further enhances the effectiveness of authenticity determination and counterfeit prevention.

[0058] Second Embodiment Fig. 8 is a front view showing a second embodiment of a label 201 according to the present disclosure from the front side. Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the label 201 taken along the position of arrow A-A in Fig. 8. Fig. 10 is a front view showing the label 201 with the cover layer 220 removed.

[0059] The label 201 of this embodiment is formed in a substantially square shape when viewed from the front side, and is used by being attached to an article such as a product during a sales promotion campaign, etc. The label 201 has a main body layer 210 and a cover layer 220, and is designed to be opened by simply peeling a portion of the cover layer 220 from the main body layer 210. The front side of the page in Fig. 8 and the protective layer 225 side in Fig. 9 are referred to as the front side (or surface side), and the back side of the page in Fig. 8 and the separator layer 214 side in Fig. 9 are referred to as the back side (or rear side).

[0060] The main body layer 210 is formed by laminating, from the front side, an information display portion 212, a main body-side base material layer 211, a concealable adhesive layer 213 for attaching a label, and a separator layer 214 in this order.

[0061] The body-side substrate layer 211 is preferably made of a resin film, a resin sheet, paper, or the like, but any material may be used. For example, the body-side substrate layer 211 may be made of inkjet paper, fine paper, kraft paper, copy paper, glassine paper, rayon paper, coated paper, synthetic paper, paper laminated with a resin film, NIP fine paper, oriented polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, oriented polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or the like. By forming the body-side substrate layer 211 using such materials, the label 201 is flexible and can be properly attached to even curved surfaces of the object to which it is attached. Furthermore, the body-side substrate layer 211 is preferably made of a white or light-colored material close to white to improve the visibility of the display content of the information display unit 212. The thickness of the body-side substrate layer 211 is preferably, for example, 10 μm or more and 100 μm or less. If the thickness is less than 10 μm, the label is likely to wrinkle during the manufacturing process, making it difficult to process, and if the thickness is more than 100 μm, the label may peel off depending on the shape of the article to which it is attached.

[0062] The information display unit 212 displays various types of visible information. The display content of the information display unit 212 may be any type, including, for example, a character code that indicates specific information using a combination of character strings, a barcode, or a two-dimensional code. The display content of the information display unit 212 may be fixed information that does not change from label to label, or may be unique variable information (ID: Identification) that differs from label to label. Examples of variable information include a serial number for campaign entries. The information display unit 212 can be formed by printing on the front side of the main body-side base layer 211. In this embodiment, the information display unit 212 displays unique information using a two-dimensional code. The thickness of the information display unit 212 is preferably, for example, 0.1 μm or more and 40 μm or less. A thickness of 0.1 μm or less can result in blurred printing and poor readability, while a thickness of 40 μm or more can easily cause blocking due to insufficient drying.

[0063] When the label 201 is attached to an item such as a product and displayed in a store, the information such as the two-dimensional code displayed by the information display unit 212 is covered by the cover layer 220 described below and is therefore not visible from the outside. Hereinafter, information that is hidden under certain circumstances, such as the two-dimensional code displayed by the information display unit 212, will also be referred to as "hidden information." As will be described later, the information such as the two-dimensional code displayed by the information display unit 212 can be easily obtained by peeling off and opening a portion of the cover layer 220.

[0064] Furthermore, the front side of the information display unit 212 is not joined to the back side of the cover-side base material layer 221. When the display on the body-side base material layer 211 is a barcode, a two-dimensional code, or the like, it is desirable to print it in black or a dark color to improve recognition by a scanner, camera, or the like.

[0065] The label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 is laminated on the back side of the main body-side base material layer 211 and is composed of an adhesive for attaching the label 201 to an article such as a commodity when the label 201 is used. The label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 also functions as an information-concealing portion that prevents the concealed information displayed by the information display portion 212 from being seen from either the front or back side through the label 201. To provide this function as an information-concealing portion (concealing ability), the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 contains a black pigment and is formed in black. As a result, the light transmittance of the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 at a wavelength of 500 nm, a typical visible light wavelength, is equal to or less than the light transmittance of the portion (e.g., ink, toner, etc.) forming the concealed information displayed by the information display portion 212, thereby ensuring concealment. The thickness of the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 is preferably, for example, 5 μm or more and 40 μm or less. If the thickness is less than 5 μm, the adhesive strength to the article to which it is attached is insufficient, and the label is likely to peel off, whereas if the thickness is more than 40 μm, the adhesive will protrude from the label and blocking will occur.

[0066] A wide variety of ordinary adhesives with adhesive properties can be used to form the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213. While rubber-based solvent-based adhesives such as NR, SBR, IR, and CR are the mainstream, emulsion-type acrylic adhesives can also be used. Other adhesives include silicone-based and polyvinyl ether-based adhesives, and any of these can be used. Hot-melt adhesives are also acceptable. By adding a black pigment that imparts concealing properties (light opacity) to these materials, the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 can be formed.

[0067] The separator layer 214 is a component also known as release paper or release sheet, and is laminated on the back side of the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213. The separator layer 214 protects the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 when the label 201 is unused, i.e., before being attached to an article, and prevents the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 from accidentally adhering to other articles, etc. Although the separator layer 214 is shown as a single layer in the figure, it may also be configured as, for example, a laminate of a base layer and a release layer. The separator layer 214 is peeled and removed when the label 201 is attached to an article. The separator layer 214 can be made of the same material as the main body-side base layer 211, and the surface on which the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 is formed can be coated with an ultraviolet-curable (UV) ink for offset printing to which silicone oil or silicone acrylate has been added to impart releasability. Alternatively, the separator layer 214 may be formed by applying a normal thermosetting release ink to a material similar to the main body-side base material layer 211. The thickness of the separator layer 214 is preferably, for example, 25 μm to 300 μm. If the thickness is 25 μm or less, the separator layer is likely to break during application by a labeling machine, whereas if the thickness is 300 μm or more, the label will not be able to be unwound from the release plate during application by a labeling machine.

[0068] The cover layer 220 is partially bonded to the front side of the main body layer 210 using a cover bonding layer 230 described below. The cover layer 220 is formed by laminating, from the front side, a protective layer 225, a hologram layer 223, a hologram bonding layer 224, a printing layer 222, a cover-side base material layer 221, and a concealing printing layer 226 in this order.

[0069] The cover-side substrate layer 221 is preferably made of a resin film, resin sheet, paper, or the like, but any material may be used. For example, the main body-side substrate layer 211 may be made of inkjet paper, fine paper, kraft paper, copy paper, glassine paper, rayon paper, coated paper, synthetic paper, paper laminated with a resin film, NIP fine paper, oriented polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, oriented polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, or the like. The cover-side substrate layer 221 may be made of the same material as the main body-side substrate layer 211. Under normal circumstances, the cover-side substrate layer 221 does not have enough light transmittance to allow the display of the information display unit 212 to be visible. Therefore, when the cover layer 220 covers the main body layer 210, the display of the information display unit 212 is usually not visible. Although the cover-side substrate layer 221 depends on the printing color of the printing layer 222 formed thereon, it is usually desirable to use a white or light-colored material close to white to ensure good color development of the printing layer 222. The thickness of the cover-side base material layer 221 is preferably, for example, 15 μm or more and 100 μm or less. If it is 15 μm or less, it is difficult to peel off the cover-side base material when obtaining the concealed information, and if it is 100 μm or more, the label may peel off depending on the shape of the article to which it is attached.

[0070] The printed layer 222 is provided on the front side of the cover-side base material layer 221. The printed layer 222 has, for example, a product name or characters representing a campaign printed thereon. In this embodiment, the characters and explanation representing the campaign, as well as (▽OPEN) indicating the position where the cover layer 220 should be opened, are printed thereon. The thickness of the printed layer 222 is preferably, for example, 0.1 μm or more and 40 μm or less. If the thickness is 0.1 μm or less, color unevenness is likely to occur, and if the thickness is 40 μm or more, blocking due to insufficient drying is likely to occur.

[0071] Hologram layer 223 has superimposed thereon a first interference fringe pattern that is converted into a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image when detection light from a point light source disposed apart from the incident surface is incident thereon, and a second interference fringe pattern that is converted into a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image when light from a light source with no specified irradiation direction is incident on the incident surface. Here, the "incident surface" refers to the incident surface of hologram layer 223, more specifically, the front surface of hologram layer 223. However, since hologram layer 223 is not exposed to the outside, the "incident surface" is essentially the surface of protective layer 225. Furthermore, "light from a light source with no specified irradiation direction" refers to light that reaches hologram layer 223 in an uncontrolled light source, such as indoors or outdoors, without irradiating light from a specific direction to view a hologram. For example, diffused light reaching hologram layer 223 from various directions is an example of this. Furthermore, when the label 201 is attached to an item such as a commodity, the positional relationship with the light source is not specified when the item is picked up, and it is assumed that light will reach the label 201 from various directions. Such a case can also be cited as an example of a state in which "light from a light source with no specified irradiation direction is incident on the incident surface." The configuration and manufacturing method of a hologram layer in which a first interference fringe converted into a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image and a second interference fringe converted into a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image are superimposed are disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-177038. The hologram layer 223 of this embodiment has the same configuration and is manufactured by the same manufacturing method as those disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-177038, and detailed description thereof will be omitted here. The thickness of the hologram layer 223 is preferably, for example, 1 μm or more and 30 μm or less. If it is less than 1 μm, the brightness of the hologram will be low and the reproduced image will be difficult to see, and if it is more than 30 μm, the hologram material will protrude from the label and blocking will easily occur.

[0072] In addition, in the hologram layer 223 of this embodiment, a second interference fringe is created so that, when observed with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, the volume reflection hologram reconstructed image is not displayed outward when observed from within a specified angle range from the normal direction of the label, but the volume reflection hologram reconstructed image is displayed outward when observed from a range beyond the specified angle range from the normal direction of the label.

[0073] Hologram layer 223 is basically optically transparent, and the printed display of printing layer 222 can be seen through hologram layer 223. Furthermore, when a hologram reconstruction image is visible, hologram layer 223 also has transparency, and therefore printing layer 222 can be seen through the hologram reconstruction image, but the presence of the hologram reconstruction image makes printing layer 222 difficult to see clearly. How hologram layer 223 appears will be described later.

[0074] The hologram bonding layer 224 is laminated between the printing layer 222 and the hologram layer 223 and serves to bond (adhere) the hologram bonding layer 224 to the printing layer 222. The hologram bonding layer 224 may be, for example, a heat-sealable layer that exhibits adhesive properties when heated and pressurized. The hologram bonding layer 224 must be optically transparent (transparent) so that the printed display of the printing layer 222 can be visible through the hologram layer 223. The hologram bonding layer 224 may be formed using an adhesive similar to that of the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213, but must be optically transparent. The hologram bonding layer 224 may be formed using a material containing a cation. For example, the hologram bonding layer 24 may be formed using an emulsion-type acrylic material, a rubber-based material, a silicone-based material, or the like. The thickness of the hologram bonding layer 224 is preferably 0.1 μm or more and 20 μm or less. If the thickness is less than 0.1 μm, sufficient adhesive strength with the print layer 222 cannot be obtained, and if the thickness is more than 20 μm, blocking is likely to occur during the hologram manufacturing process.

[0075] The protective layer 225 is provided on the front side of the hologram layer 223 and is a transparent layer that protects the hologram layer 223. The protective layer 225 can be, for example, an overprint layer (OP layer) formed by applying overprint varnish. The thickness of the protective layer 225 is preferably, for example, 0.1 μm to 20 μm. If it is 0.1 μm or less, the abrasion resistance decreases and the hologram layer 223 becomes more susceptible to scratches, while if it is 20 μm or more, transparency is impaired.

[0076] The concealing printing layer 226 is formed on the back side of the cover-side substrate layer 221, more specifically, in this embodiment, on the back surface of the cover-side substrate layer 221. The concealing printing layer 226 functions as an information concealing section that prevents the concealed information displayed by the information display section 212 from being seen through the label 201 from either the front or back side. The concealing printing layer 226 is printed with ink containing a black pigment to provide this function (concealment) as an information concealing section. In FIG. 9, the concealing printing layer 226 is shown as being provided over the entire back surface of the cover-side substrate layer 221, but it is sufficient that the concealing printing layer 226 is provided at least in a position that overlaps with the information display section 212 in the thickness direction of the label 201. The concealing printed layer 226 also has a light transmittance of 500 nm, a typical wavelength of visible light, that is equal to or less than the light transmittance of the portion (e.g., ink, toner, etc.) that forms the concealing information displayed by the information display unit 212, thereby ensuring concealment. The thickness of the concealing printed layer 226 is preferably, for example, 0.1 μm or more and 40 μm or less. If it is 0.1 μm or less, color unevenness is likely to occur, and if it is 40 μm or more, blocking due to insufficient drying is likely to occur.

[0077] Furthermore, the concealing printing layer 226 does not necessarily have to be solidly printed, as long as it has sufficient concealing properties to prevent the concealed information displayed by the information display unit 212 from being seen through the label 201 from either the front or back side. Unlike the previously described concealing adhesive layer 213 for label attachment, the concealing printing layer 226 can be printed in any desired pattern. Therefore, for example, if the concealed information of the information display unit 212 is a two-dimensional code, the concealing printing layer 226 may have a pattern, design, or the like positioned to overlap the two-dimensional code. In this case, even if the two-dimensional code (concealed information) of the information display unit 212 and the printed pattern or design of the concealing printing layer 226 are observed through the front or back side of the label 201, the overlapping of the concealing information of the information display unit 212 and the printed pattern, etc., of the concealing printing layer 226 prevents the concealed information from being perceived as the correct information (the two-dimensional code cannot be read correctly). In this embodiment, for ease of manufacturing, the concealing printed layer 226 is provided as a solid print over the entire rear surface of the cover-side base material layer 221 .

[0078] As described above, the information hiding portions (213, 226) only need to have a degree of concealment that prevents the hidden information displayed by the information display portion 212 from being seen from either the front or back side through the label 201. Therefore, when the information hiding portions (213, 226) are uniformly formed as in this embodiment, they need to have a light transmittance that is equal to or lower than the light transmittance of the portion (e.g., ink, toner, etc.) that forms the hidden information displayed by the information display portion 212. Alternatively, when the information hiding portions (213, 226) are formed into a pattern or design, the light transmittance of the portion (e.g., ink, toner, etc.) that forms the pattern or design needs to be equal to or lower than the light transmittance of the portion (e.g., ink, toner, etc.) that forms the hidden information displayed by the information display portion 212.

[0079] In order to provide a degree of concealment that prevents the concealed information from being seen through the label 201 from either the front or back, it is desirable that the light transmittance of the ink (or toner, transfer layer, etc.) used in the concealing printing layer 226 itself be equal to or lower than the light transmittance of the information displayed by the information display unit 212.

[0080] In addition to the cover-side substrate layer 221, printing layer 222, hologram bonding layer 224, hologram layer 223, protective layer 225, and concealing printing layer 226 described above, the cover layer 220 may also include a primer layer disposed between the hologram bonding layer 224 and the hologram layer 223. The primer layer is not shown in the drawings. The primer layer may be formed between the hologram bonding layer 224 and the hologram layer 223, covering the entire surface or a portion of each layer. The adhesive strength between the hologram bonding layer 224 and the hologram layer 223 is improved by providing the primer layer. Furthermore, the durability of the laminated structure of the cover layer 220 before being laminated with the main body layer 210 and the cover bonding layer 230 is improved by providing the primer layer.

[0081] The cover bonding layer 230 is a layer that bonds the main body layer 210 and the cover layer 220 and is located in a position that does not overlap the information display section 212. As shown in FIG. 10 , in this embodiment, the cover bonding layer 230 is formed in a generally U-shape along three sides of a square that surrounds the information display section 212 when viewed from the front side. Because the cover bonding layer 230 is located in a position that does not overlap the information display section 212, it does not need to be optically transparent and can be formed using an adhesive similar to the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213. The thickness of the cover bonding layer 230 is preferably 5 μm or more and 40 μm or less. If the thickness is 5 μm or less, the adhesive strength between the main body-side base material layer 211 and the concealing printing layer 226 will be insufficient, which could result in the cover layer 220 unintentionally peeling off from the main body layer 210. If the thickness is 40 μm or more, the adhesive is likely to protrude beyond the label, causing blocking.

[0082] The cover layer 220 also has a planned cutting line 227 that facilitates cutting near the boundary between the area where the cover bonding layer 230 is provided and the area where it is not provided. The planned cutting line 227 may be a perforation that linearly connects the cut portion and the non-cut portion, or may be a partial cut that cuts the cover layer 220 partway through the thickness direction. The planned cutting line 227 may also be a perforation that linearly connects the cut portion and the non-cut portion, and the cut portion may be cut all the way to the main layer 210. In this embodiment, the planned cutting line 227 is a perforation that extends from the end of one side of the cover layer 220 where the cover bonding layer 230 is not provided to the vicinity of the cover bonding layer 230 that is provided along the side opposite this side, to a position that does not overlap with the cover bonding layer 230.

[0083] 11 is a diagram showing the state in which the cover layer 220 is cut along the planned cutting line 227 and the central portion of the cover layer 220 is peeled open. As shown in FIG. 11 , by cutting along the planned cutting line 227, the central portion of the cover layer 220 in the area where the cover bonding layer 230 is not provided can be peeled open, making the display on the information display unit 212 visible. Even when a portion of the cover layer 220 is peeled open, one end of the cover layer 220 remains bonded to the main body layer 210 by the cover bonding layer 230, and therefore the cover layer 220 is not separated from the main body layer 210. A consumer who purchases a product or the like can peel open a portion of the cover layer 220 as shown in FIG. 11 and use information such as a two-dimensional code displayed on the information display unit 212.

[0084] The label 201 also has a cut portion 201a cut at the same position in both the main layer 210 and the cover layer 220. In this embodiment, the cut portion 201a is provided at each of the four corners of the label 201 when viewed from the front side. When an attempt is made to peel off the label 201 attached to a product or the like, the label 201 is prevented from tearing at the cut portion 201a and being reattached. Furthermore, if the planned cutting line 227 is a perforation in which the cut portion and the non-cut portion are linearly connected, and the cut portion is cut all the way to the main layer 210, the label 201 is prevented from tearing at the planned cutting line 227 and being reattached.

[0085] Next, the appearance of the hologram layer 223 will be described. FIG. 12 is a diagram showing the appearance of the label 201 when viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 201 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. As shown in FIG. 12 , when viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 201 (within the range of ±θ in FIG. 12 ) under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, neither the first nor second interference fringes of the hologram layer 223 is visible. Therefore, the hologram layer 223 is observed as transparent, and the display of the printing layer 22 is visible. The information displayed on the printing layer 222 is product name, campaign information, etc., and it is important that it is easy for consumers to see. Therefore, it is important that the display of the printing layer 222 is visible without being obstructed by the hologram layer 223 when the label 201 is viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 201 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. The range of ±θ shown in FIG. 12 in which the hologram image is not visible can be changed as appropriate by changing the settings of the hologram layer 223 .

[0086] Note that even when the display on the printing layer 222 is visible, the volume reflection hologram actually exists, although it merely appears to the human eye as if it has disappeared. That is, when the angle at which the article to which the label 201 is attached is changed, the volume reflection hologram is visible when observed from a direction that matches the angle at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible, but is difficult to see or is not visible at all when observed from a direction outside the angle range at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible, and appears to have disappeared to the human eye. The range of ±θ shown in Figure 12 in the above example is the angle range in which the direction is outside the angle range at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible.

[0087] For ease of understanding, the following description has been given with reference to an example in which the hologram layer 223 is observed as transparent when the label 201 is viewed within a predetermined angle range from the normal direction of the label 201 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. However, the central direction in which the label 201 is not visible under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction (the normal direction of the label 201 is exemplified in the above example) can be changed as appropriate. The angle at which the hologram reconstruction image is visible can be set as appropriate during duplication (manufacturing) and may be set arbitrarily depending on the situation in which the label 201 is used, the item to which the label 201 is affixed, etc. For example, the opposite of the above example may be used, i.e., the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image is observed within an angle range close to the normal direction of the label 201, but the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image is not observed when viewed from a direction angled significantly from the normal direction of the label 201.

[0088] As described above, the label 201 of this embodiment has a predetermined angle range (±θ in the example of FIG. 12 ) within which only the printed layer 222 can be observed, without the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image of the hologram layer 223 being observed. This predetermined angle range within which only the printed layer 222 can be observed, without the volume reflection hologram reconstruction image being observed, can be set appropriately during duplication (manufacturing), and can be set arbitrarily depending on the situation in which the label 201 will be used, the item to which the label 201 will be affixed, etc. For example, when the label 201 is affixed to a flat surface as shown in FIG. 12 , θ = 20 degrees to 60 degrees can be exemplified. Note that the specific example of the angle described above is merely an example and can be changed as appropriate.

[0089] FIG. 13 is a diagram showing how the label 201 appears when observed from a range exceeding a predetermined angle from the normal direction of the label 201 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction. FIG. 13 and FIG. 14 , which will be described later, show a state in which the label 201 is attached to a transparent article 100. Examples of the transparent article 100 include, but are not limited to, liquid containers such as PET bottles and glass bottles. As shown in FIG. 13 , when observed from a range exceeding a predetermined angle from the normal direction of the label 201 under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image H2 reconstructed by the second interference fringes is visible superimposed on the display of the printing layer 222. Because this volume reflection hologram reconstruction image H2 is visible under observation with a light source that does not specify an irradiation direction, i.e., under normal ambient light, the authenticity of the label 201 can be easily confirmed and the anti-counterfeiting effect can be enhanced.

[0090] The volume reflection hologram reconstructed image H2 described above provides an easy and reliable method of determining authenticity and preventing counterfeiting. However, a malicious individual with hologram production technology could potentially create a counterfeit product, making authenticity determination difficult. Therefore, in order to further enhance the authenticity determination and counterfeit prevention effects, the label 201 of this embodiment makes it possible to utilize a Fourier transform hologram reconstructed image H1 (see FIG. 14 ) reconstructed from the first interference fringes.

[0091] FIG. 14 shows how the label 201 appears when detection light from a point light source disposed away from the incident surface is incident on the label 201. As shown in FIG. 14 , the detection light irradiated from the point light source LS causes a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 reconstructed by the first interference fringes to be visually recognized as being superimposed on the display of the printing layer 222. Also, as shown in FIG. 14 , the display of the printing layer 222 becomes difficult to see with the naked eye while the point light source LS is irradiating the label 201. This is because the Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 reconstructed by the first interference fringes is emphasized more than the display of the printing layer 222. By visually recognizing this Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1, it is possible to confirm that the product is authentic. This Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image H1 is visible only when detection light from the point light source is incident on the label 201.

[0092] Furthermore, the detection light from the point light source for observing the Fourier transform hologram reproduction image H1 is emitted with an intensity higher than that under normal circumstances. When such light with an intensity higher than that of a normal environment is irradiated onto the label 201, in a label that does not have the function as an information concealing section exhibited by the label-affixing concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing printed layer 226 of the present embodiment, there is a risk that the concealed information, such as the two-dimensional code displayed by the information display section 212, may be observed through the transparent article 100 or may be projected onto other articles, etc.

[0093] However, the label 201 of this embodiment has a function as an information concealing section exerted by the label-affixing concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing printed layer 226. Therefore, even if the label 201 is irradiated with light of a stronger intensity than under normal circumstances, as shown in Fig. 14 , only a shadow S of the outer diameter shape of the label 201 is observed from the back side of the article 100, and concealed information such as a two-dimensional code displayed by the information display section 212 can be prevented from being discovered. Note that the example of Fig. 14 illustrates a case where detection light is irradiated onto the label 201 from the front side of the label 201, but even if detection light is irradiated onto the label 201 from the back side of the label 201 via the article 100, concealed information such as a two-dimensional code displayed by the information display section 212 can be similarly prevented from being discovered.

[0094] As described above, according to this embodiment, the label 201 includes the label-affixing concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing printed layer 226 as information-concealing sections, and therefore, even when high-intensity light is irradiated onto the label 201, it is possible to prevent concealed information, such as a two-dimensional code displayed on the information display section 212, from being obtained through the label 201. Furthermore, because the label 201 includes the label-affixing concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing printed layer 226 as information-concealing sections, it is possible to safely observe the first interference fringes that are converted into a Fourier transform hologram reproduction image when detection light from a point light source LS arranged at a distance from the incident surface is incident thereon, while preventing leakage of the concealed information.

[0095] (Modifications) The present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications and variations are possible, and these are also within the scope of the present disclosure.

[0096] (1) In the second embodiment, an example was described in which two layers, the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing print layer 226, were provided as the information concealing portion. However, the present invention is not limited to this. The function of the information concealing portion may be provided in only one of the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213 and the concealing print layer 226. That is, for example, the function of the information concealing portion may be imparted to only the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213, and the concealing print layer 226 may be omitted. Alternatively, for example, the function of the information concealing portion may be imparted to only the concealing print layer 226, and a normal adhesive layer without concealing properties may be provided in the portion corresponding to the label-attaching concealing adhesive layer 213.

[0097] (2) In the first and second embodiments, the cover bonding layer 30 or the cover bonding layer 230 is described as being formed in a substantially U-shape along three sides of a square surrounding the information display unit 12 or the information display unit 212, respectively, when viewed from the front side. The arrangement of the cover bonding layer 30 or the cover bonding layer 230 can be modified as appropriate. FIGS. 15 and 16 are diagrams showing modified arrangements of the cover bonding layer 30 or the cover bonding layer 230. For example, the cover bonding layer 30 or the cover bonding layer 230 may be arranged along two opposing sides as shown in FIG. 15 . Furthermore, for example, the cover bonding layer 30 or the cover bonding layer 230 may be arranged along all four sides except for the vicinity of one corner as shown in FIG. 16 .

[0098] (3) In the first and second embodiments, the label 1 and the label 201 have been described as having the cut portion 1 a and the cut portion 201 a, respectively. However, the present invention is not limited to this example, and the cut portion 1 a and the cut portion 201 a may be omitted.

[0099] (4) In the first and second embodiments, the information display unit 12 or the information display unit 212 has been described as an example of variable information for campaign applications. This is not limiting, and the information display unit 12 or the information display unit 212 may be fixed information or variable information for use in authenticity determination. By using the display on the information display unit 12 or the information display unit 212 for authenticity determination, a three-stage authenticity determination can be performed, including an authenticity determination using a Fourier transform hologram reconstructed image based on the first interference fringes and an authenticity determination using a volume reflection hologram reconstructed image based on the second interference fringes.

[0100] (5) In the first and second embodiments, an example was given in which a portion of the cover layer 20 or the cover layer 220 can be peeled off and opened from the main body layer 10 or the main body layer 210, respectively, and the cover layer 20 or the cover layer 220 does not separate from the main body layer 10 or the main body layer 210, respectively. However, this is not limiting, and for example, the entire cover layer 20 or the cover layer 220 may be peeled off and separated from the main body layer 10 or the main body layer 210, respectively.

[0101] (6) In the first or second embodiment, even when the label 1 or label 201 is attached to a container with a curved surface, such as a plastic bottle, an aluminum can, a steel can, or a glass bottle, and observed, it is possible to recognize a Fourier transform hologram reconstructed image due to the first interference fringes of the printing layer 22 and the hologram layer 23, or the printing layer 222 and the hologram layer 223, and a volume reflection hologram reconstructed image due to the second interference fringes. Here, a curved surface refers to a curved, circular, or curved shape. Even when the label 1 or label 201 is attached to not only a flat surface but also a curved surface, it is possible to recognize the presence of the printing layer 22 or the printing layer 222, respectively, and to observe a Fourier transform hologram reconstructed image due to the first interference fringes and a volume reflection hologram reconstructed image due to the second interference fringes. Furthermore, if the information on the printing layer 22 or information display unit 12, or the printing layer 222 or information display unit 212 is a two-dimensional code, unique information, or variable information, the curved surface can also be provided with an authenticity determination function using machine authentication. Therefore, a single medium, label 1 or label 201, can be provided with three types of authenticity determination functions: a Fourier transform hologram reconstruction image, a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image, and machine authentication. While there are three types of authenticity determination functions, two-stage authentication using two of the three types is also possible. The ability to attach to curved surfaces broadens the range of brand protection applications. Furthermore, label 1 or label 201 can be attached anywhere on a container or product, providing both the benefits of clearly and easily conveying information to consumers and purchasers while simultaneously protecting the product being protected from counterfeiting. There are many different types of containers and products available in the world, and even if they are partially flat or have curved surfaces, the label 1 or label 201 in the first or second embodiment can be affixed to any location on the container or product, thereby preventing counterfeiting.

[0102] 17 is a diagram showing a state in which label 1 or label 201 is attached to the curved surface of article 100. When label 1 or label 201 is attached to the curved surface as shown in FIG. 17 , an example of θ is 90 degrees to 100 degrees. That is, when label 1 or label 201 is attached to a curved surface, the range in which only printed layer 22 or printed layer 222 is observed without a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image can be, for example, a direction between +90 degrees (to 100 degrees) and −90 degrees (to −100 degrees) with respect to the normal direction at an arbitrary position on label 1 or label 201 (the predetermined angular range in which only printed layer 22 or printed layer 222 is observed without a volume reflection hologram reconstruction image is approximately 180 degrees to 200 degrees).

[0103] The embodiments and modifications may be used in combination as appropriate, but detailed description thereof will be omitted. The present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiments.
