The present disclosure discloses an external-type water interception tank for preventing siltation on shaft lining and application method thereof, the water interception tank comprises a water storage tank, a protruding part integrally formed with the water storage tank, and an installation part integrally formed with the protruding part, the protruding part is arranged on the upper part of the water storage tank, and the installation part is fixed with the shaft lining through fasteners, the water storage tank is connected with a dredging pipeline, which can realize the collection of seepage water from the shaft lining and prevent the solid debris of the shaft lining from falling into the water storage tank.
