Abstract

The Lacandone trap allows the collection of mosquitoes in the cups of trees and the monitoring of viruses that can transmit. Placing in canopy the traps currently on the market is challenging for researchers. Studies to know the mosquitoes reproduced in the cups of trees were carried out with personnel who arrive at their life in order to collect flies. This problem and many others, such as autonomy, lightness, inclusion of a CO2 source, a light source, and a chemical attractant in the same trap, allow to ensure successful collections. In addition to its lightness and battery size, the trap, thanks to the manoeuvrability, can be placed at great heights, by means of ropes or drones. The increase in mosquito-borne diseases has given the creation of multiple research groups which, together with governments, increasingly reverse resources for the production of tools useful for the research and monitoring of mosquitoes and the diseases they transmit. This global market requires future traps to be developed in the future. Many interested see in our technology a response to the need for the study of mosquito-borne diseases.
