A rigging structure for a compound archery bow includes first and second pulley assemblies, pivotally mounted on axles at tips of corresponding first and second limbs of a compound bow and interconnected by cables. Each pulley assembly includes a dynamic synchronizing component, and the rigging preferably also includes means for avoiding the usual leaning moment imposed upon the pulley assemblies by the cables of conventional riggings.

A compound archery bow includes a rigid riser with, at either end, a pair of side plates which support a spool assembly that includes a bowstring spool and a cam spool which rotate together. As an archer draws the bowstring back, the bowstring spool rotates the cam spool, which reels drive cable off of the major lobe of a cam assembly at the same end of the bow, while the minor lobe of the assembly reels in a buss cable attached to the bow limb tip, flexing the limb.

A modular cam system for an archery bow or crossbow includes swappable cams that change the maximum draw weight of the archery bow or crossbow. An archery bow system incorporating a bow riser and dual limbs supporting cams or a cam and wheel mounted for rotation about respective axles. The dual limbs are independently adjustable to correct for cam lean and are individually supported in pockets that incorporate variable limb angle attachments to the bow riser. The limbs extend from the riser to flex, when at full draw, to positions that cause the respective axles to initially travel rearward toward the archer upon release of the bowstring. A cam for an archery bow is constructed comprising a body for guided entrainment of a bow string. The body accommodates an axle for mounting the body to the bow for rotation about an axis of the axle. At least one adjuster is carried by the body for adjustment between at least two positions. The adjuster is arranged in a first position to define a first draw weight and draw length of the bow, and in a second position to define a second draw weight of the bow. At least one of the draw weights and draw lengths are different, so that moving the adjuster from its first position to its second position changes either the draw weight, draw length, or both.

A crossbow may include a main beam; a compound bow assembly mounted to the main beam; and, a trigger mechanism mounted to the main beam for use in holding a bowstring in a cocked position. The crossbow may include wheels at opposite ends of the bow that operatively receive the bowstring. The wheels may be separated by a wheel distance (WD) when the crossbow is in an un-cocked position. The crossbow may also have a power stroke distance (PD) and the ratio WD/PD may be less than 2.0.

A bowstring vibration and noise suppressor, the vibration and noise suppressor being carried by a support having an attachment device at an end of the support for attachment to a limb of an archery bow. The support carries the vibration and noise suppressor which is configured and arranged to suppress vibration and noise created by the bowstring when launching an arrow.

A compound archery bow with a handle-providing rigid riser and flexible limbs on the riser mounting bow string pulleys has damping interconnection mechanism between the limbs and riser. A damper is carried by each riser inboard of a riser limb seat. A resilient limb cup for each limb seat has portions for engaging the bottom, side walls and inner end wall of a limb and a fastener extends from each limb through each limb cup and limb seat to secure the limb to the damper. Pulley members with bow string tracks are journaled on the outer ends of the flexible limbs. The pulley members relate about lateral axes of revolution. A vertically extending bow string is trained around the revolvable pulley members. The bow string tracks lie in the same front to rear vertical plane. At least of the pulley members comprises an eccentric cam.

Improved compound bows which are smaller, more compact, lighter, and more easily handled and serviced than compound bows of conventional construction but are nevertheless capable of propelling an arrow at an equal or higher velocity and with comparable or greater accuracy than a conventional bow. The improved bows are quieter than those of conventional construction and less apt to snag on brush or other obstacles. They have a rigid riser with ends to which string cams are rotatably mounted and cam-associated power units mounted to and towards the ends of the riser. Each power unit has a component which is elastically deformed to store potential energy as the bow is drawn and a power cable connecting the power storing component to the associated string cam. A bow string extends between and is connected at its opposite ends to the string cams. As the bow is drawn, the string cams are rotated in counter directions, pulling on the power unit cables and thereby elastically deforming and storing potential energy in the power unit components. When the bow string is subsequently released, the elastically deformable power unit components restore to rest configurations, this converting the stored potential energy to arrow propelling kinetic energy. A timing cable arrangement insures that the cams are synchronized to rotate in unison, avoiding the unwanted nock travel that might otherwise occur; and the power units have an adjustment feature which allows the force required to fully draw the bow to be changed.

The invention is directed to a compound archery crossbow wherein the power cables and the bowstring remain substantially parallel allowing the bowstring to be positioned for increased power and accuracy of an arrow and/or wherein the power stroke has been extended by positioning the bowstring farther from the string catch.

A “cross-over” compound crossbow includes a stock and barrel assembly attached to a horizontally mounted compound bow. The compound bow component is similar to that of U.S. Pat. No. 7,047,958 and includes an alternative arrow support system to achieve higher arrow velocity at a reduced draw weight. The crossover compound bow also provides draw weight adjustability and positive cam synchronization.
