System for trapping flying insects and a method for making the same

A flying insect trapping device configured to be used with a fuel supply containing combustible fuel. The device may include a supporting frame; an insect trap chamber carried on the supporting frame; and a combustion device which may also be carried on the supporting frame. The combustion device comprises an inlet port for connection with the fuel supply, an exhaust port, and a combustion chamber communicating the inlet port with the exhaust port. The inlet port enables the fuel from the fuel supply to flow into the combustion chamber for continuous combustion therein to create an exhaust gas within the combustion chamber. The combustion device further includes a catalyst element disposed within the combustion chamber. The catalyst element has a catalyst body with a plurality of essentially linear elongated conduits for enabling the exhaust gas created in the combustion chamber to flow therethrough towards the exhaust port. The catalyst body includes a catalytically active material that, during operation, converts carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas to carbon dioxide as the exhaust gas flows through the elongated conduits. An insect inlet is communicated with the insect trap chamber to enable flying insects to enter the trap chamber through the insect inlet. A vacuum device communicated to the insect inlet is constructed and arranged to draw insects attracted to the exhaust outlet through the insect inlet and into the insect trap chamber.

Self-reducing flow low-shape change off land deep water net cage

The invention discloses an automatic reducing low-deformation offshore deep-water cage, relating to a cage for marine aquiculture. The invention is capable to reduce the deformation of the cage and the flow rate of the sea water inside the cage. The invention comprises a buoyancy frame, a cage, a sinking ring, a sinking block and an anchoring rope. A supporting and lifting control ring bigger than the buoyancy frame and the diameter of the sinking ring is arranged at the one second depth of the cylindrical cage; a water inlet and a water outlet are arranged in the pipe wall of the supporting and lifting control ring; a girdle rubber inner bag which regulates the lifting and descending of the cage is arranged in the ring pipe; an air-valve is installed in the rubber inner bag and connected with the air supply by a pressure hose; between the outer ring and the supporting and lifting control ring of the double-ring buoyancy frame, the bottom outline of the cylindrical cage and the bottom sinking ring, a plurality of flexible ropes are located and connected according to the ring at geometric proportion, and a netting is arranged among the connecting ropes of the three rings; and finally, a flexibly connected automatic reducing low-deformation offshore deep-water cage with a cylindrical inside and a two-cone platform outside is formed, the stress point of the anchoring rope of the cage is arranged at the supporting and lifting control ring.

Apparatus for controlling aquatic creatures

The present invention provides an apparatus for controlling aquatic creatures in a body of water. The apparatus comprises a power supply, a solar conversion system, two electrodes, a controllable switch unit and a control system. In operation, this apparatus generates electromagnetic emissions that are perceivable by a number of aquatic creatures thereby providing an ability to control the behaviour of these aquatic creatures, for example, attraction or repulsion thereof. The power supply provides the necessary energy and electric voltage level for the apparatus to operate and the solar conversion system provides a means for recharging and / or maintaining a sufficient energy level within the power supply. A controllable switch unit is interconnected to the two electrodes and enables the selective application of energy provided by the power supply, thereby providing for the generation of electromagnetic emissions. The control system is integrated into the apparatus in order to provide a mechanism for controlling each of the components of the apparatus, for example, to control the generation of desired electromagnetic emissions and to control the recharging of the power supply by the solar conversion system. The apparatus according to the present invention is a self-contained system and therefore is capable of continued operation without the interconnection with other systems, for example, recharging the power supply. The present invention can be incorporated into water devices, for example surfboards, lifevests or scuba equipment.
