EQUIPMENT FOR MOUNTING, CUTTING AND STAINING SAMPLES IN PARAFFIN BLOCKS.

Abstract

The present invention describes equipment for mounting, sectioning, and staining samples in paraffin blocks. This equipment includes motors that move the paraffin block containing a histological sample to perform a sectioning with a blade, which is activated by an actuator. The blade is sharpened at both ends to allow for sectioning in both directions of the actuator's movement. The equipment of the present invention includes a compartment where a slide is placed to collect the sample, which falls by gravity after sectioning. It also incorporates a bidirectional pump for supplying or draining water into the sample collection compartment. The compartment has a heating element that raises the temperature of the water in which the sample is immersed to remove the paraffin before staining.The equipment for the purpose of the present invention has a plurality of containers for storing different types of reagents for staining the samples.
