Abstract
A subsurface monitoring system comprises at least two transmitters (1, 2), a plurality of sensors (3), and a server (4). Each transmitter (1, 2) is configured to deliver a current to a subsurface, which induces a corresponding voltage that is indicative of the properties of the subsurface. Each sensor (3) is communicatively coupled to the transmitters (1, 2) and is configured to record the voltage and to convert the recorded voltage into digital data. The server (4) is communicatively coupled to the transmitters (1, 2) and to the plurality of sensors (3), and is configured to receive the digital data and to process the digital data into a resistivity map representing conditions of the subsurface. At least one of the transmitters (1, 2) is an electrical resistivity transmitter (1) for monitoring the subsurface in a static mode that acquires high temporal resolution data at fixed locations in the subsurface. At least one of the transmitters (1, 2) is a capacitive resistivity imaging transmitter (2) for monitoring the subsurface in a dynamic mode that acquires high spatial resolution data at multiple subsurface locations.
