Abstract

The utility model discloses a process for producing powder from Gracilaria salicornia. The process comprises collecting G. salicornia from a natural or cultivated source, transporting the collected material under hygienic conditions, and washing to remove impurities including epiphytes and adhering debris. The washed material is then dehydrated using a mechanical dryer at a temperature of about 70°C for approximately 4.5 hours, or until a reduced moisture content suitable for pulverization is achieved. The dehydrated material is subsequently pulverized to obtain a powder having a substantially uniform particle size, and the resulting powder is stored in a sealed container under ambient conditions. The utility model further relates to a G. salicornia powder product obtainable by the said process.
