During the sequential reciprocating motion of the pistons (3), the rods (4) interact with the copiers (56, 60), converting the reciprocating motion of the pistons (3) into the rotational motion of the driven shaft (10). To increase the working volume of the engine without increasing its dimensions, the rods (4) interact with the copiers (56, 60) with their side surface (59), and are made with a cross-section that smoothly changes along the length. The movement of the rods (4) causes a force to appear acting on the cams (56, 60) in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the rods (4). Thanks to this, the restrictions on the piston stroke (3) are removed, which is now determined only by the length of the cylinders.
