A method for manufacturing dialkylnaphthalene and its uses

Abstract

This invention relates to a method for manufacturing dialkylnaphthalene and its use in the manufacture of heat transfer oils. The method for manufacturing dialkylnaphthalene includes the following steps: 1) subjecting naphthalene to an alkylating agent via an alkylation reaction to obtain crude alkylnaphthalene; 2) subjecting the crude alkylnaphthalene to a disproportionation reaction to obtain a reaction product containing dialkylnaphthalene. Throughout the entire reaction process in steps 1) and 2), the content of free naphthalene is independently maintained at 0.5% by weight or more, based on the total weight of each reaction system. The heat transfer oil composition of this invention has advantages such as low residual carbon and low kinematic viscosity.
