Abstract

A chair cover and blanket with multiple layers includes a first layer comprised of durable waterproof material and a second layer comprised of plush washable material. The first layer is configured to substantially cover a chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment. The second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a chair cover and, more specifically, to a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt, or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.Description of Related Art

[0003] Chairs are well-known pieces of furniture that provide a user a place to sit. Chairs may be constructed of a variety of materials such as wood, fabric, cushions, metal, plastic, or a combination thereof. Material choice for a particular chair may be dependent on the chair's intended use. Outdoor chairs such as patio chairs, or Adirondack style chairs are often made of wood or metal due to their durability and resilient properties, which are desirable for outdoor applications. However, outdoor chairs are still often vulnerable to material fading, scratching, dents, rust, and decomposition due to their exposure to a surrounding environment, elements, and weather. These materials may also render certain chairs relatively uncomfortable for a user to sit in. Chair covers are well-known protective coverings for chairs that may have different intended uses. For example, some chair covers may protect a chair from an outside environment, elements, weather, dirt, and grime. Other chair covers may provide a user comfort such as by providing a soft material or cushion for a user to sit on.

[0004] In certain applications, it is desirable to both protect a chair from the outside environment, and protect a user from residual water, dirt, or grime on the chair, while also providing user comfortability. Existing chair covers may have a singular function such as only protecting the chair, only protecting a user, or only providing a user comfort. Some chair covers may attempt to provide more than one of these functions. In such cases, existing chair covers tend to perform one of these functions better than another, or at the detriment of another. For example, chair covers that are sufficiently durable and weatherproof do not also provide a clean and comfortable place for a user to sit. These solutions are often hard, uncomfortable, and not washable. In some instances, existing chair covers provide a comfortable place for a user to sit, but do not provide adequate weather and environmental protection to the chair.

[0005] In view of the foregoing, there exists a need for a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.SUMMARY

[0006] Accordingly, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to non-limiting embodiments of a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.

[0007] According to an aspect of the disclosure, a chair cover includes a first layer comprised of durable waterproof material, a second layer comprised of plush washable material. The first layer is configured to substantially cover a chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment, and the second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use.

The first layer is configured to substantially cover the chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment, the second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use, and the chair cover is further sized and configured to lay flat for use as a throw blanket or picnic blanket when the chair cover is in a state not attached to a chair.

[0051] Referring now to FIGS. 1A-1C, FIGS. 1A-1C are perspective views of an implementation of a non-limiting embodiment of a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers (hereinafter “chair cover”) 100 in accordance with the present disclosure. As shown in FIGS. 1A-1C, chair cover 100 may include first layer 102 comprised of durable waterproof material and second layer 104 comprised of plush washable material. In some non-limiting embodiments, first layer 102 and second layer 104 may be detachably fastened, and chair cover 100 may include fastening member 106 for detachably fastening first layer 102 to second layer 104. In some non-limiting embodiments, first layer 102 and second layer 104 may be stitched or woven together, riveted together, glued together, stapled together, or otherwise permanently affixed to one another. As further shown in FIGS. 1A-1C, in some non-limiting embodiments, chair cover 100 may include attachment member 108 for detachably attaching chair cover 100 to chair 1. First layer 102 may be configured to substantially cover chair 1 and protect chair 1 from a surrounding environment. Second layer 104 may be configured to substantially cover first layer 102 and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use.

In such an embodiment, first layer 102 may not be easily or safely cleaned with common methods such as a washing machine. Instead, first layer 102 may require cleaning via other cleaning methods such as by hand, hose, power washer, or the like.

In some non-limiting embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, second layer 104 may comprise a blanket or a blanket-like fabric, which may comprise polyester, cotton, flannel, linen, fleece, another fabric, or a combination thereof such that second layer 104 is plush and washable. These materials and properties may provide a comfortable, soft, and / or warm surface for a user when chair 1 is in use. These materials and properties may also allow second layer 104 to be easily washed in a washing machine. Accordingly, fastening member 106 for detachably fastening first layer 102 and second layer 104 makes using and washing chair cover 100 easier, while protecting chair 1 from a surrounding environment and protecting a user from residual moisture, dirt, or other grime on the chair, and while providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.

However, it is to be understood that chair cover 100 may be sized and configured for use with any style of chair and any dimensions of a chair, including indoor and outdoor chairs. For example, chair cover 100 may be used with flat back and / or rounded back style Adirondack chairs, as well as with wing chairs, arm chairs, rocking chairs, chaise longues, recliners, and the like. In some non-limiting embodiments, the size and configuration of chair cover 100 may be adaptive such that the dimensions and attachment member are different for each style, type, and size of chair. In some non-limiting embodiments, the size and configuration of chair cover 100 may be universal such that the dimensions and attachment member accommodate all or multiple styles, types, and sizes of chairs.

Additionally, a zipper member may be provided on zipper 206 to zip and unzip (i.e., to attach and detach) first side 208 to / from second side 210 of zipper 206, and thus, to detachably fasten first layer 102 to second layer 104.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a chair cover and, more specifically, to a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt, or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.Description of Related Art

[0003] Chairs are well-known pieces of furniture that provide a user a place to sit. Chairs may be constructed of a variety of materials such as wood, fabric, cushions, metal, plastic, or a combination thereof. Material choice for a particular chair may be dependent on the chair's intended use. Outdoor chairs such as patio chairs, or Adirondack style chairs are often made of wood or metal due to their durability and resilient properties, which are desirable for outdoor applications. However, outdoor chairs are still often vulnerable to material fading, scratching, dents, rust, and decomposition due to their exposure to a surrounding environment, elements, and weather. These materials may also render certain chairs relatively uncomfortable for a user to sit in. Chair covers are well-known protective coverings for chairs that may have different intended uses. For example, some chair covers may protect a chair from an outside environment, elements, weather, dirt, and grime. Other chair covers may provide a user comfort such as by providing a soft material or cushion for a user to sit on.

[0004] In certain applications, it is desirable to both protect a chair from the outside environment, and protect a user from residual water, dirt, or grime on the chair, while also providing user comfortability. Existing chair covers may have a singular function such as only protecting the chair, only protecting a user, or only providing a user comfort. Some chair covers may attempt to provide more than one of these functions. In such cases, existing chair covers tend to perform one of these functions better than another, or at the detriment of another. For example, chair covers that are sufficiently durable and weatherproof do not also provide a clean and comfortable place for a user to sit. These solutions are often hard, uncomfortable, and not washable. In some instances, existing chair covers provide a comfortable place for a user to sit, but do not provide adequate weather and environmental protection to the chair.

[0005] In view of the foregoing, there exists a need for a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.SUMMARY

[0006] Accordingly, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to non-limiting embodiments of a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers configured to protect a chair from a surrounding environment and protect a user from residual moisture, dirt or other grime on the chair, while also providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.

[0007] According to an aspect of the disclosure, a chair cover includes a first layer comprised of durable waterproof material, a second layer comprised of plush washable material. The first layer is configured to substantially cover a chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment, and the second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use.

[0008] According to another aspect of the disclosure, a chair cover includes a first layer comprised of a durable waterproof polymeric material, a second layer comprised of a plush washable blanket material, a hood configured to fit over a back of a chair and one or more straps for detachably attaching the chair cover to a chair, at least one wrap configured to cover a user when a user sits in the chair and at least one wrap pouch configured to contain the at least one wrap when the at least one wrap is not in use, a durable waterproof shell configured to cover the first layer, the second layer, and the chair when the chair is not in use and at least one shell pouch configured to contain the shell when the shell is not in use, and a head rest. The first layer is configured to substantially cover the chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment, the second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use, and the chair cover is further sized and configured to lay flat for use as a throw blanket or picnic blanket when the chair cover is in a state not attached to a chair.

[0051] Referring now to FIGS. 1A-1C, FIGS. 1A-1C are perspective views of an implementation of a non-limiting embodiment of a chair cover and blanket with multiple layers (hereinafter “chair cover”) 100 in accordance with the present disclosure. As shown in FIGS. 1A-1C, chair cover 100 may include first layer 102 comprised of durable waterproof material and second layer 104 comprised of plush washable material. In some non-limiting embodiments, first layer 102 and second layer 104 may be detachably fastened, and chair cover 100 may include fastening member 106 for detachably fastening first layer 102 to second layer 104. In some non-limiting embodiments, first layer 102 and second layer 104 may be stitched or woven together, riveted together, glued together, stapled together, or otherwise permanently affixed to one another. As further shown in FIGS. 1A-1C, in some non-limiting embodiments, chair cover 100 may include attachment member 108 for detachably attaching chair cover 100 to chair 1. First layer 102 may be configured to substantially cover chair 1 and protect chair 1 from a surrounding environment. Second layer 104 may be configured to substantially cover first layer 102 and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use.

[0052] In exemplary embodiments where first layer 102 and second layer 104 are detachably fastened to one another, the detachable connection of first layer 102 and second layer 104 with fastening member 106 may allow first layer 102 and second layer 104 to be detached and cleaned independently. In such an embodiment, first layer 102 may not be easily or safely cleaned with common methods such as a washing machine. Instead, first layer 102 may require cleaning via other cleaning methods such as by hand, hose, power washer, or the like.

In some non-limiting embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, second layer 104 may comprise a blanket or a blanket-like fabric, which may comprise polyester, cotton, flannel, linen, fleece, another fabric, or a combination thereof such that second layer 104 is plush and washable. These materials and properties may provide a comfortable, soft, and / or warm surface for a user when chair 1 is in use. These materials and properties may also allow second layer 104 to be easily washed in a washing machine. Accordingly, fastening member 106 for detachably fastening first layer 102 and second layer 104 makes using and washing chair cover 100 easier, while protecting chair 1 from a surrounding environment and protecting a user from residual moisture, dirt, or other grime on the chair, and while providing a comfortable place for a user to sit.

However, it is to be understood that chair cover 100 may be sized and configured for use with any style of chair and any dimensions of a chair, including indoor and outdoor chairs. For example, chair cover 100 may be used with flat back and / or rounded back style Adirondack chairs, as well as with wing chairs, arm chairs, rocking chairs, chaise longues, recliners, and the like. In some non-limiting embodiments, the size and configuration of chair cover 100 may be adaptive such that the dimensions and attachment member are different for each style, type, and size of chair. In some non-limiting embodiments, the size and configuration of chair cover 100 may be universal such that the dimensions and attachment member accommodate all or multiple styles, types, and sizes of chairs.

Additionally, a zipper member may be provided on zipper 206 to zip and unzip (i.e., to attach and detach) first side 208 to / from second side 210 of zipper 206, and thus, to detachably fasten first layer 102 to second layer 104.

2. The chair cover of claim 1, wherein the chair cover further comprises a fastening member for detachably fastening the first layer and the second layer, andwherein the fastening member for detachably fastening the first layer and the second layer is a zipper.

3. The chair cover of claim 2, wherein a first side of the zipper is disposed on a first border of the first layer and a second side of the zipper is disposed on a second border of the second layer.

4. The chair cover of claim 1, wherein the chair cover further comprises a fastening member for detachably fastening the first layer and the second layer, andwherein the fastening member for detachably fastening the first layer and the second layer is a hook and loop fastening system.

The chair cover of claim 4, wherein the hook and loop fastening system is comprised of one or more hook portions and one or more loop portions disposed on the first layer and the second layer such that the one or more hook portions correspond to the one or more loop portions to fasten the first layer to the second layer.

6. The chair cover of claim 1, wherein the chair cover further comprises an attachment member for detachably attaching the chair cover to the chair.

7. The chair cover of claim 6, wherein the attachment member for detachably attaching the chair cover to a chair includes a hood configured to fit over a back of a chair.

8. The chair cover of claim 6, wherein the attachment member for detachably attaching the chair cover to a chair includes one or more pockets configured to fit over one or more arms of a chair.

9. The chair cover of claim 6, wherein the attachment member for detachably attaching the chair cover to a chair includes one or more straps.

10. The chair cover of claim 9, wherein the one or more straps comprise a deformable loop.

11. The chair cover of claim 10, wherein the one or more straps comprise elastic.

12. The chair cover of claim 9, wherein the straps comprise one or more snap button fasteners.

13. The chair cover of claim 9, wherein the straps comprise a hook and loop fastening system.

14. The chair cover of claim 1, wherein the first layer comprises a polymeric material.

15. The chair cover of claim 14, wherein the first layer comprises at least one of polyester, nylon, vinyl, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride.

23. The chair cover of claim 22, wherein the chair cover further comprises at least one pouch configured to contain the shell when the shell is not in use.

24. The chair cover of claim 1, wherein the chair cover further comprises a head rest.

A chair cover, the chair cover comprising:a first layer comprised of a durable waterproof polymeric material;a second layer comprised of a plush washable blanket material;a hood configured to fit over a back of a chair and one or more straps for detachably attaching the chair cover to a chair;at least one wrap configured to cover a user when a user sits in the chair and at least one wrap pouch configured to contain the at least one wrap when the at least one wrap is not in use;a durable waterproof shell configured to cover the first layer, the second layer, and the chair when the chair is not in use and at least one shell pouch configured to contain the shell when the shell is not in use; anda head rest,wherein the first layer is configured to substantially cover the chair and protect the chair from a surrounding environment,wherein the second layer is configured to substantially cover the first layer and provide a comfortable surface for a user when the chair is in use,wherein the at least one wrap is comprised of plush washable material, andwherein the chair cover is further sized and configured to lay flat for use as a throw blanket or picnic blanket when the chair cover is in a state not attached to a chair.

26. The chair cover of claim 25, wherein the chair cover further comprises a fastening member for detachably fastening the first layer and the second layer.
