Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims benefit to Provisional Application No. 63 / 671,356, filed Jul. 15, 2024, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONField of Endeavor

[0002] The present invention relates to handbag accessories, and more particularly, to a non-destructive device for protecting handbags from soiling or damage when contacting surfaces.Background of Related Art

[0003] Handbags are a large accessory having both functional an aesthetic qualities users find important. As functional items handbags, contain a variety of pockets, compartments, and / or other storage mechanisms for storage and organization of items. As aesthetic items handbags can be made from a variety of materials having varied qualities such as quality, durability, expense, etc., and as such protection from damage is a paramount concern. Due to their daily usage, handbags can become damaged, or soiled when they are placed on a surface because there is no buffer between the handbag and the surface.

[0004] Current solutions for preventing damage, or soiling, require modification of the handbag such as puncturing to attach a buffer. However, modification in this manner causes damage to the handbag thereby reducing its value, and potentially degrading its useful life.

[0005] As can be seen, there is a need for a handbag protection device capable of non-destructive attachment which is configured to protect a handbag from damage and / or soiling.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The present invention provides a handbag protection device. The handbag protection device includes a heel having a recessed portion with an attachment means disposed therein, and a cuboid base that includes a second attachment means. The attachment means of both the base and the heel can be a magnet, such as a neodymium magnet. The heel of the present invention can be shaped in one of a number of three-dimensional shapes, such as a cuboid, hemisphere, semi-sphere, etc.

[0007] In an additional embodiment a handbag is provided. The handbag includes a floor, and at least four walls extending from the floor. The handbag includes at least one handbag protection device of the present invention installed thereon. The at least one handbag protection device is installed by placing the base on an interior surface of the handbag, such as the floor, and the heel is installed on an exterior of the surface handbag at the base in alignment with the base.

[0008] In another embodiment, a method of using a handbag protection device in a handbag. The method provides the handbag protection device of the present invention. The cuboid base is placed on an interior surface of the handbag, and the heel is placed on an exterior surface of the handbag proximate to the cuboid base.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009] FIG. 1 is a bottom perspective view of a handbag with a plurality of handbag protection devices installed thereon;

[0010] FIG. 2 is a top perspective view of a handbag with a plurality of handbag protection devices installed thereon;

[0011] FIG. 3 is an exploded view of a handbag protection device;

[0012] FIG. 4 is a cross-section view of a portion of a handbag with handbag protection device installed thereon; and

[0013] FIG. 5 is a bottom perspective view of a handbag with a second plurality of handbag protection devices installed thereon.DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

[0015] Current devices for protecting handbags from damage, or soiling, due to surface contact require destructive modification of the handbag and are not easily removable. Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides an interchangeable handbag protection device that can be easily installed / removed from a handbag without requiring modification to the handbag. The present invention prevents damage, or soiling, of handbags due to contact with surfaces thereby preserving the value and utility of the handbag.

[0016] Referring now to FIG. 1-5, aspects of the present invention are illustrated. As an initial matter, FIG. 3 illustrates an embodiment of a handbag protection device including base 10 and heel 12, 20. Base 10 and heel 12, 20 include attachment means configured to secure heel 12, 20 to bag 14 utilizing base 10, as illustrated in FIGS. 1-2 and 5. In embodiments, the attachment means can be a magnet, such as a neodymium magnet, ferromagnet, etc.

[0017] In embodiments, heel 12, 20 can be a 3-dimensional structure such as a semi-sphere (as illustrated in FIG. 1-4), frustum, cuboid (as illustrated in FIG. 5), etc., and can be made from a polymer, such as plastic, or alternatively from one or more metal(s), alloy(s), and / or certain mineral(s). In embodiments, heel 12, 20 includes one or more magnet materials, such as ferro-magnetic materials, or certain alloys, rare earth metals, and / or minerals. In embodiments, heel 12, 20 can have an aperture, or recessed portion, therein adapted to receive an attachment means. In embodiments, the attachment means can be a magnet, such as a neodymium magnet, and can be installed within the recessed portion of heel 12, 20. In embodiments, one or more of base 10, and / or heel 12, 20 are coated or covered in one or more materials, such as polymer, plastic, or other coatings. In embodiments, the one or more materials is one or more of PET / PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate), HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), and PS (Polystyrene). In embodiments, heel 12, 20 can be injection molded, 3-d printed, or manufactured utilizing additive manufacturing techniques.

[0018] FIGS. 1-2 and 4 illustrate the handbag protection device of the present invention in use. To use the present invention a user can place at least one base 10 on the interior of a handbag, such as handbag 14. In embodiments, the at least one base 10 is placed on an interior surface of handbag 14, such as interior of floor 16, and at least one heel 12, 20 is placed on an exterior surface of handbag 14, such as exterior of floor 16, such that the attachment means of both the at least one base 10 and the at least one foot 12, 20 secure to one another. In embodiments, the attachment means, being magnets, allows the at least one base 10 and the at least one foot 12, 20 to be securely attached to one another without piercing, or otherwise modifying, the structure of handbag 14. In embodiments, there is a one-to-one relationship between heel 12, 20 and backing 10, but any number of heels 12 and backings 10 can be paired on bag 14 to prevent contact with a surface. Advantageously, pairing in this manner prevents modification to bag 14, and is customizably configurable to provide the greatest support for bag 14.

[0019] It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
