[0002] Standard wall art mounting systems typically rely on center-mounted brackets, wires, or top-edge ledges to suspend art against a vertical surface. For example, some known devices utilize angular metal tabs or wooden wedges mounted to the upper-middle back of wall art to facilitate hanging. Other systems employ rotatable toothed brackets or elongated metal tabs running the length of the top internal frame to allow for leveling or distribution of weight across multiple wall anchors. Additionally, magnetic plates have been used to provide a quick-release mounting point at the center of the art. While these systems facilitate hanging, they present several deficiencies, particularly regarding "frameless" wall art, that is, art sold without an external frame that relies on a thin, often weakened, internal wooden or plastic chassis. More specifically, the invention pertains to hardware and methods for anchoring and / or presenting frameless wall art by securing individual corners to a wall or directly to the art to address structural degradation. The wall art corner frame is configured to maintain wall art in a position parallel to a wall surface while providing options for both mechanical anchoring and adhesive mounting on various substrates, including pervious and impervious surfaces such as metal or glass.

Claims

1. A wall art corner holder for the framing of frameless wall art, the wall art corner holder comprising:a plurality of riser walls including at least a first wall and a second wall oriented perpendicularly to one another to define an internal corner seat;a front cover plane integrated with the plurality of riser walls and extending between the first wall and the second wall to enclose the internal corner seat;wherein the plurality of riser walls and the front cover plane collectively define a three-dimensional corner pocket configured to capture and retain a corner of the wall art; andwherein the front cover plane comprises a decorative external surface exhibiting a texture or color configured to provide a photo-album-like presentation when mounted to the wall art.

2. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, further comprising a rear plane positioned in a spaced-apart relationship with the front cover plane and connected to the plurality of riser walls, the rear plane configured to reside behind a corner of a piece of wall art.

3. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the rear plane is configured to reside between the wall and the wall art to hide warps, breaks, or corner wear.

4. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the rear plane is configured to adhere directly to a pre-hung piece of wall art for décor-only application.

5. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the plurality of riser walls and the rear plane are joined at a fixed right angle to maintain the wall art in a position parallel to a wall.

6. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the plurality of riser walls and the rear plane are of a thickness sufficient to maintain a rigid corner enclosure.

7. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, further comprising a removable double-sided adhesive disposed on a surface of the rear plane.

8. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the rear plane comprises a planar surface area sufficient to stabilize the wall art against a wall.

9. The wall art corner holder of claim 2, wherein the rear plane includes a radial edge.

The wall art corner holder of claim 2, further comprising a planar mounting base extending outwardly from the rear plane and configured for attachment to a wall, the planar mounting base comprising:a primary mounting hole sized to receive a fastener for static anchoring of the corner holder; anda plurality of elongated mounting slots oriented perpendicular to one another, the slots configured to allow slidable adjustment of the corner holder relative to a wall fastener to facilitate the installation or removal of wall art in restricted architectural spaces.

11. The wall art corner holder of claim 3, wherein the rear plane is reinforced to support the weight of the wall art.

12. The wall art corner holder of claim 3, wherein the rear plane includes a mounting hole configured to receive a fastener.

13. The wall art corner holder of claim 3, wherein the plurality of riser walls and the rear plane are reinforced for large-format wall art.

14. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, wherein the plurality of riser walls have a height configured to match a thickness of the wall art.

15. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, wherein the corner holder is provided in a plurality of discrete sizes based on standard wall art thicknesses.

16. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, further comprising at least one shim configured to be placed within the three-dimensional corner pocket to fill gaps between the wall art and the front cover plane.

17. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, wherein the front cover plane is triangular to minimize coverage of the wall art.

18. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, wherein the corner holder is configured to be removed from the wall art by a twisting force.

19. The wall art corner holder of claim 1, wherein the decorative external surface includes textures or styles for an art-on-art presentation.

20. A wall art corner frame for structural anchoring and / or decorative presentation of wall art, the wall art corner frame comprising:a planar mounting base configured to reside between a wall and a piece of wall art, the mounting base including at least one primary mounting hole and a plurality of elongated mounting slots;a plurality of riser walls extending substantially perpendicularly from the planar mounting base to a height sufficient to accommodate a thickness of a wall art internal frame, the plurality of riser walls comprising at least a first wall and a second wall oriented perpendicularly to one another to define an internal corner intersection;a front cover plane integrated with the plurality of riser walls and positioned in a spaced-apart relationship with the planar mounting base, the front cover plane extending between the first wall and the second wall to enclose the internal corner intersection;wherein the planar mounting base, the plurality of riser walls, and the front cover plane collectively define a four-sided corner enclosure configured to capture a corner of a piece of wall art; andwherein the elongated mounting slots of the planar mounting base are configured to allow the corner frame to be slidably adjusted relative to a wall-mounted fastener.
