Description

Outdoor equipment inspection system

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a technique for conducting a preliminary survey of a construction site for infrastructure equipment installed outdoors.

[0002] Before construction of outdoor infrastructure facilities, a site inspection is carried out. This involves "visiting the facility to be constructed before construction begins, as construction methods, tools, and safety measures vary depending on the facility and surrounding conditions, and ensuring safe access to the construction site." Traditionally, a person would visit the facility and take on-site photographs showing the condition of the facility.

[0003] Point cloud data is used to collect information on infrastructure facilities (see, for example, Non-Patent Document 1). By using the technology of Non-Patent Document 1, infrastructure facilities can be identified from the point cloud data.

[0004] Yukihiro Goto, Chiharu Matsumoto, Ryuji Honda, Hiroyuki Oshida: "Improvement of the accuracy of the method for identifying equipment to be inspected," 2019 General Conference, Session: Optical Fiber Application Technology, Presentation Number: B-13-2

[0005] Point cloud data is collected regardless of construction work. Therefore, by using point cloud data collected in advance, it is possible to obtain information about the target equipment without having to go to the site of the target equipment. However, while point cloud data can provide information about the shape of objects in three-dimensional space, it cannot provide information about the object's color or pattern, or especially about letters and symbols. In addition, the equipment used to acquire point cloud data is expensive, making it difficult to use in the on-site survey work that is carried out daily throughout the country. As a result, the information required for on-site surveys was not readily available, and it was necessary for people to go to the site of the target equipment.

[0006] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to make it possible to create on-site photographs showing the status of target equipment without having someone go to the site of the target equipment.

[0007] The system disclosed herein includes an equipment inspection device and an information terminal that displays equipment images created by the equipment inspection device. The equipment inspection device and equipment inspection method disclosed herein acquire landscape images of target equipment from a landscape image server that provides landscape images according to geographical location, and create an equipment image showing the status of the target equipment using the acquired landscape images.

[0008] The equipment image may include a panoramic equipment image in which the entire target equipment is captured. In this case, the equipment inspection device and equipment inspection method disclosed herein acquire, from the landscape image server, landscape images taken from a shooting point different from the installation point of the target equipment, looking toward the installation point, and create a panoramic equipment image by searching for landscape images in which the entire target equipment is captured while changing at least one of the shooting point, shooting direction, and magnification.

[0009] The equipment inspection device and equipment inspection method disclosed herein may determine that the target equipment is captured in a landscape image based on the presence of information that can identify the target equipment in the landscape image obtained from the landscape image server.

[0010] The equipment inspection device and the equipment inspection method may store link information in the scenery image server as a scenery image link in a storage unit when a panoramic equipment image capturing the entire target equipment is obtained, thereby enabling the information terminal to acquire the equipment image from the scenery image server by connecting to the scenery image link.

[0011] The facility inspection device and facility inspection method may store, in the storage unit, setting information of at least one of a photographing location, a photographing direction, and a magnification rate when the facility panoramic image was obtained together with the scenery image link, thereby enabling the information terminal to acquire the facility panoramic image from the scenery image server using the setting information.

[0012] The equipment investigation device and the equipment investigation method may calculate an installation point of the target equipment using a photographing point and a photographing direction when the equipment panoramic image was obtained, and store the calculated installation point of the target equipment in the storage unit as a map link. This enables the information terminal to display a map showing the installation point of the target equipment using the map link.

[0013] The above disclosures can be combined as much as possible.

[0014] The equipment inspection device of the present disclosure can create equipment images, which are landscape images of target equipment. Therefore, according to the present disclosure, it is possible to create on-site photos showing the status of target equipment without having to go to the site of the target equipment.

[0016] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments shown below. These implementation examples are merely illustrative, and the present disclosure can be implemented in various forms with various modifications and improvements based on the knowledge of those skilled in the art. Note that components with the same reference numerals in this specification and drawings indicate the same components.

[0017] (First embodiment) Fig. 1 shows an example embodiment of a system according to the present disclosure. The system according to this embodiment includes a center server 20 and an external data source 30. The center server 20 is a device that manages facility information, functions as the "facility survey device" according to the present disclosure, and executes the "facility survey method" according to the present disclosure.

[0018] The external data source 30 includes a map server and a scenic image server. The map server provides maps according to geographic locations. The map server is a device that provides electronic map services over the Internet, such as Google Maps.

[0019] The scenic image server provides scenic images according to geographical locations. The scenic image server is a device that provides a service, such as Google Street View (registered trademark), that processes scenic images captured in advance on roads using a 360-degree camera via the Internet to create images similar to the human field of vision, displays them, and allows users to move the viewpoint along the road, change the shooting direction, and change the magnification ratio. Changing the magnification ratio allows users to change the range captured in the scenic image.

[0020] The map server and the scenic image server are provided with an API (application interface) for programmatic communication, which accepts requests in a predetermined text format such as TypeScript or JavaScript and responds in accordance with the requests.

[0021] The scenic image server may also have a function to change the shooting location, shooting direction, and magnification, and an API to turn to a specified direction from a certain location. The scenic image server may also have a function to find a shooting location from a certain location that is the closest and has a panoramic image.

[0022] 2 shows an example of the configuration of the center server 20. The center server 20 includes a communication unit 21, a processing unit 22, a storage unit 23, and a display unit 24. The storage unit 23 stores an equipment database that manages equipment information. The equipment database manages the equipment's unique identification number, the type of equipment, the geographic coordinates of the equipment installation location, and the type and number of additional equipment.

[0023] While the present disclosure is applicable to any facility installed outdoors, the following embodiment describes an example in which the facility is a utility pole. In this case, the facility-specific identification number is, for example, a utility pole number. The type of facility can be, for example, a utility pole, a "power pole" on which electric wires are hung, a "telegraph pole" on which communication lines such as internet and telephone lines are hung, or a "common pole" on which electric wires and communication lines are hung. The geographic coordinates of the facility installation point are the latitude and longitude of the utility pole installation point. The type of additional facility can be, for example, a number tag bearing the utility pole number, a closure, a branch line, or a transformer.

[0024] When the center server 20 executes the facility inspection method of the present disclosure, link information when a facility panoramic image is obtained is stored as a scenery image link in the storage unit 23. In this embodiment, in addition to the scenery image link, setting information when a facility panoramic image is obtained is stored in the storage unit 23. Here, the setting information is control information in the external data source 30 for obtaining a facility panoramic image, and includes at least one of the geographic coordinates of the shooting location, the shooting direction (viewpoint direction), and the magnification rate.

[0025] In the present disclosure, the center server 20 may store, for target equipment that is the subject of the equipment investigation method, equipment images showing the status of the target equipment in the storage unit 23. By storing the equipment images in the storage unit 23, landscape images and maps necessary for construction of the target equipment can be displayed offline, and therefore the equipment images can be displayed on the information terminal (reference numeral 10 in FIG. 7 ) even in a situation where the external data source 30 cannot be accessed.

[0026] The equipment images showing the status of the target equipment are landscape images necessary for construction of the equipment, and include equipment images in which the target equipment is captured and equipment surrounding images in which the surroundings of the target equipment are captured. The equipment images include equipment panoramic images in which the entire target equipment is captured, and additional equipment images in which additional equipment attached to the target equipment is captured. The equipment surrounding images include landscape images in which buildings around the target equipment are captured and landscape images in which roads around the target equipment are captured.

[0027] 3 shows an example of a sequence diagram of the system of this embodiment. The calculation processing unit 22 acquires a scenic image of the installation site where the target equipment is installed from a scenic image server (S1) and identifies the scenic image captured of the target equipment (S5). The calculation processing unit 22 creates a scenic image required for construction of the equipment using the scenic image acquired from the scenic image server (S8) and outputs it (S9). As a result, the scenic image created in step S8 is stored in the storage unit 23.

[0028] In this way, the system of this embodiment performs on-site survey work using the external data source 30. The created landscape images are managed in the equipment database of the center server 20. Therefore, the system of the present disclosure can acquire on-site photos of the target equipment from the equipment database of the center server 20 without having a person visit the site of the target equipment. Therefore, the system of the present disclosure makes it possible to automatically create on-site photos of the target equipment without having a person visit the site of the target equipment.

[0029] In step S8, the calculation processing unit 22 acquires an equipment panoramic image P1 in which the entire utility pole is captured as shown in Fig. 4, creates an additional equipment image Z1 in which the closure shown in Fig. 4 is enlarged, and creates an additional equipment image Z2 in which the number tag shown in Fig. 4 is enlarged. The calculation processing unit 22 also creates an equipment surroundings image P2 in which images of buildings surrounding the target equipment are captured as shown in Fig. 5.

[0030] Furthermore, in step S9, the calculation processing unit 22 may store a map showing the installation location of the target equipment on a map, linked to the scenery image created in step S8, in the equipment database of the storage unit 23. As a result, the map application of the information terminal (reference numeral 10 shown in FIG. 7) can display the installation location of the target equipment on a map, as shown in FIG. 6, by displaying the map in the equipment database of the storage unit 23.

[0031] In step S9, link information for the scenery image acquired from the scenery image server in step S8 may be output as a scenery image link, and the geographic coordinates of the target equipment may be output as a map link. As a result, equipment images, scenery image links, and map links showing the status of the target equipment are managed in the equipment database of the storage unit 23. Here, the data format of the scenery image links when stored may be a format that can be read by a scenery image application, and the data format of the map links when stored may be a format that can be read by a map application.

[0032] As described above, the system disclosed herein includes the center server 20 of this embodiment, and therefore can automatically collect equipment images of the target equipment, images of the equipment's surroundings, scenery image links, and map links in the equipment database of the storage unit 23. This allows the system disclosed herein to automatically create on-site photos of the target equipment without requiring a person to visit the site of the target equipment.

[0033] Second Embodiment Fig. 7 shows an example embodiment of the system of the present disclosure. The system of this embodiment includes an information terminal 10 in addition to a center server 20 and an external data source 30. The information terminal 10 is a terminal device used by a worker performing construction work on the target facility.

[0034] 8 shows an example of the configuration of the information terminal 10. The information terminal 10 includes a communication unit 11, a processing unit 12, a storage unit 13, and a display unit 14.

[0035] Before a worker performs construction work on the target equipment, the communication unit 21 of the center server 20 reads out the equipment information of the target equipment from the memory unit 23 and transmits it to the work terminal 10. The communication unit 11 of the work terminal 10 receives the equipment information of the target equipment from the center server 20 and stores it in the memory unit 13.

[0036] The facility information of the target facility includes scenery images necessary for the facility construction and a map showing the installation location of the target facility. Therefore, the information terminal 10 can display scenery images and maps necessary for the construction of the target facility offline.

[0037] The processing unit 12 includes a map application and a landscape image application. The landscape image application is an application that displays landscape images acquired from a landscape image server on the display unit 14. The map application is an application that displays maps acquired from the map server on the display unit 14.

[0038] The facility information of the target facility may include a scenery image link, whereby a scenery image application included in the information terminal 10 can connect to the scenery image link to obtain a scenery image of the target facility from a scenery image server and display the image on the display unit 14.

[0039] The equipment information of the target equipment may include a map link, so that a map application included in the information terminal 10 can connect to the map link to obtain a map showing the installation location of the target equipment from the map server and display route guidance to the installation location of the target equipment on the display unit 14.

[0040] 9 shows an example of the configuration of the center server 20 according to this embodiment. In this embodiment, the calculation processing unit 22 includes a geographic coordinate conversion unit 31, an equipment detection unit 32, a landscape image adjustment unit 33, an additional equipment detection unit 34, a character recognition unit 35, and a landscape coordinate conversion unit 36.

[0041] The geographic coordinate conversion unit 31 is a functional unit that converts information on the installation location of the target equipment into geographic coordinates suitable for each of the map server and the scenery image server. The scenery image adjustment unit 33 is a functional unit that operates the API of the scenery image server and acquires scenery images by performing viewpoint operations such as "enlarging twice" or "viewing that point from 5 m away from that point."

[0042] The equipment detection unit 32 is a functional unit that detects predetermined equipment from a landscape image. In this embodiment, the predetermined equipment is a utility pole. The additional equipment detection unit 34 is a functional unit that detects additional equipment from a landscape image. The additional equipment is an accessory to the equipment, and in this embodiment, examples of the additional equipment include a closure, a number tag, and a transformer. The character recognition unit 35 is a functional unit that recognizes characters displayed in the form of an image as text, and is sometimes called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). The detection method used by the equipment detection unit 32, the additional equipment detection unit 34, and the character recognition unit 35 can be any known technology, such as image recognition. For example, AI (artificial intelligence) that recognizes images or characters, such as deep learning, can be used.

[0043] The landscape coordinate conversion unit 36 is a functional unit that calculates the actual installation location of the target equipment using the positions of objects in the landscape image. The calculation is performed using information such as the viewpoint coordinates, direction, elevation and depression angles, and magnification rate of the landscape image.

[0044] 10 shows a specific example of step S1 for acquiring a scenic image of the installation site where the target equipment is installed from the scenic image server. When a user of the center server 20 inputs an identification number unique to the equipment, the processing unit 22 acquires information about the installation site from the equipment database (S11). The geographic coordinate conversion unit 31 converts the acquired information about the installation site into geographic coordinates suitable for each of the map server and the scenic image server (S12). The processing unit 22 transmits the geographic coordinates converted by the geographic coordinate conversion unit 31 to the map server and the scenic image server.

[0045] When the map server receives the geographic coordinates from the center server 20, it transmits map data indicating the received geographic coordinates to the center server 20. When the scenery image server receives the geographic coordinates from the center server 20, it transmits a scenery image captured at the geographic coordinates to the center server 20. As a result, the calculation processing unit 22 acquires a scenery image and a map of the target facility from the external data source 30 (S13).

[0046] To obtain a landscape image of the target equipment, the processing unit 22 acquires, from the landscape image server, a landscape image of the target equipment taken from a different shooting location facing the installation location. For example, the landscape image adjustment unit 33 uses the API of the landscape image server to find a shooting location that is closest to the installation location of the target equipment and has a panoramic image, adjusts the shooting direction to the installation location of the target equipment, and acquires the landscape image at that time. The acquired landscape image may not properly depict the equipment because the installation location information in the equipment database differs from the geographic coordinates of the external data source 30, such as the equipment being missing, being cut off, or the magnification ratio being inappropriate. Therefore, the processing unit 22 searches for a landscape image in which the entire target equipment is captured while changing at least one of the shooting location, shooting direction, and magnification ratio. This allows the processing unit 22 to create a panoramic image of the equipment as shown in FIG. 4. Furthermore, by understanding the entire target equipment, the actual installation location of the target equipment can be calculated based on the information in the external data source 30, and the installation location of the target equipment in the equipment database can be corrected.

[0047] 11 shows a specific example of step S5 for identifying a landscape image of the target facility. (Step S2) The facility detection unit 32 detects a utility pole. If no utility pole is detected, the landscape image adjustment unit 33 looks around the surrounding area using the API for 360-degree panoramic images of the landscape image server (S21) and detects a nearby utility pole (S22). At this time, the landscape image adjustment unit 33 may move the viewpoint coordinates.

[0048] If the utility pole is not detected even after adjusting the landscape image by the landscape image adjustment unit 33 (No in S23), the processing is terminated. For example, the termination of the processing is determined by setting an upper limit on the amount of movement of the viewpoint coordinates. This prevents the search for the utility pole from continuing. When the processing is terminated, the calculation processing unit 22 outputs a landscape image link that can obtain a landscape image of the installation point listed in the equipment database in the memory unit 23, instead of the equipment image of the target equipment and the image of the equipment surroundings.

[0049] (Step S3) When a utility pole is detected, the additional equipment detection unit 34 detects information that can identify the target equipment. Examples of information that can identify the target equipment include additional equipment such as a number tag with characters for identifying the utility pole or a closure. Furthermore, information that can identify the target equipment may also be the texture of metal, concrete, or plastic. There are two types of utility poles: metal and concrete, and it is possible to determine whether the equipment is the target equipment based on this texture.

[0050] (Step S4) For example, if a number tag is detected in step S3, the character recognition unit 35 identifies the utility pole number written on the number tag (S41). If the calculation processing unit 22 is able to read the utility pole number on the number tag but the utility pole number written on the number tag does not match the utility pole number of the target equipment, the calculation processing unit 22 returns to step S21 and searches for another utility pole. If the utility pole number written on the number tag matches the utility pole number of the target equipment, the calculation processing unit 22 proceeds to step S5.

[0051] If the number tag cannot be detected or the pole number on the number tag cannot be read, the additional equipment detection unit 34 detects the additional equipment (S42) and determines whether the equipment information of the target equipment matches that in the equipment database. For example, it determines whether the number of installed cables or the number of closures matches that in the equipment database. If they do not match, the calculation processing unit 22 returns to step S21 and searches for another utility pole.

[0052] In some cases, the equipment surrounding the target equipment also has similar additional equipment. Therefore, if the number and type of additional equipment match in step S42, the processing unit 22, when the additional equipment detection unit 34 determines that there is a match, checks the additional equipment status of the utility poles before and after in the equipment database. In the case of similar additional equipment, steps S2 to S4 are repeated to comprehensively identify the target equipment from the status of multiple pieces of equipment, taking into account the status of the surrounding utility poles as well (S43). This prevents erroneous detection of the target equipment.

[0053] (Step S5) Once the scenic image of the target facility has been identified through the above steps, output images and links are created. Based on the information on the range of the detected utility poles and additional facilities, the scenic image adjustment unit 33 operates the API of the scenic image server to obtain the information. Steps S6 and onward are the contents of this process.

[0054] 12 shows a specific example of the procedure for creating a landscape image required for construction of equipment using a landscape image. (Step S6) The landscape coordinate conversion unit 36 calculates the geographic coordinates of the target equipment using the setting information of the landscape image in which the target equipment is captured. For example, the coordinates of the utility pole are calculated from the capture point of the landscape image, the direction of the image, the magnification, and the base of the utility pole. This makes it possible to obtain the geographic coordinates of the actual installation location of the target equipment. The installation location of the target equipment obtained by the calculation is linked to the panoramic image of the equipment as a map link.

[0055] (Step S7) The scenery image adjustment unit 33 sets the shooting location, shooting direction, and magnification ratio so that the entire part recognized as a utility pole is captured, and creates a panoramic equipment image in which the entire utility pole is captured from the scenery image. At this time, the equipment detection unit 32 detects the utility pole from the created panoramic equipment image and confirms that the entire utility pole is captured (S71). If the entire utility pole is not captured in the panoramic equipment image, or only a portion of the utility pole is captured in the panoramic equipment image, step S7 is performed again. In step S7 again, the scenery image adjustment unit adjusts the scenery image so that the entire utility pole is included in the panoramic equipment image.

[0056] Step S72: If the entire utility pole is captured in the equipment panoramic image, the equipment panoramic image created in step S7 is output. At this time, link information for the scenery image that is the source of the equipment panoramic image is obtained from the scenery image server and output as a scenery image link. The scenery image link includes setting information such as the shooting location of the scenery image that is the source of the equipment panoramic image, the shooting direction at the shooting location, and the magnification rate. By obtaining this scenery image link from the scenery image server, the information terminal 10 can directly obtain the equipment panoramic image from the scenery image server using a scenery image app.

[0057] (Step S8) Landscape images necessary for various tasks are created and output. For example, an additional equipment image Z1 is an enlarged version of the closure shown in Figure 4, an additional equipment image Z2 is an enlarged version of the number tag shown in Figure 4, and an equipment surroundings image P2 is created as shown in Figure 5. In this case, the shooting location, angle of view, and magnification are adjusted so that the entire equipment detected and the object to be photographed are centered, so that the equipment is not cut off due to an inappropriate angle of view or magnification.

[0058] By executing the above procedure by the calculation processing unit 22, equipment images of the target equipment, images of the equipment surroundings, scenic image links, and map links can be automatically collected in the equipment database of the storage unit 23.

[0059] When construction work on the same facility occurs, a scenic image is acquired in step S1 by connecting to the scenic image link stored in the storage unit 23. This allows steps S2 to S6 to be omitted, and makes it possible to create a panoramic image of the facility that is relatively close to the latest situation.

[0060] The system of this embodiment automatically creates the information necessary for equipment construction on the center server 20, thereby reducing the amount of desk work required to instruct on-site investigations and even reducing the amount of work required to go to the site to investigate by performing on-site investigation work on behalf of the system.

[0061] The system of this embodiment includes steps S2 to S6, which can prevent similar equipment in the vicinity from being mistaken for the target equipment, thereby increasing the likelihood that a landscape image containing the target equipment will be acquired.

[0062] (Other Embodiments) The center server 20 and the information terminal 10 described above can also be realized by a computer and a program, and the program can be recorded on a recording medium or provided via a network. The program of the present disclosure is a program for causing a computer to realize each function of the center server 20 or the information terminal 10 according to the present disclosure, and is a program for causing a computer to execute each procedure of the facility survey method executed by the center server 20 or the information terminal 10 according to the present disclosure.

[0063] As described above, according to the present disclosure, it is possible to create on-site photographs showing the status of target equipment without having to go to the site of the target equipment. This reduces the amount of desk work involved in issuing on-site inspection instructions, and further reduces the amount of work involved in visiting the site by performing on-site inspection work on behalf of other personnel.

[0064] In this disclosure, image data is used to identify target equipment using multiple elements in conjunction with an equipment database, enabling more accurate identification. Furthermore, by using publicly available external data sources, the system can be built inexpensively. Furthermore, equipment images showing the status of the target equipment are created as a result of the on-site inspection, allowing for visual confirmation of the status of the equipment being repaired and safety confirmation of the surrounding area.
