AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The water spray generated by racing cars on wet surfaces reduces visibility for drivers, increasing the risk of accidents, especially at high speeds where the spray is more pronounced and visibility is severely impaired.

Method used

A diverter device that channels and redirects the water spray downward using a rectangular front opening and a horizontal slot, with a deflector that folds to avoid damage when hitting track limits, ensuring the spray is directed towards the ground and maintaining visibility for drivers.

Benefits of technology

Effectively redirects the water spray away from the drivers' line of sight, enhancing safety by improving visibility during racing on wet tracks, reducing the risk of collisions and accidents.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a diverting device that channels and diverts the water spray generated by cars, improving visibility for drivers. The diverting device can be used at any race competition and only requires sufficient space in order to place the diverting device just below the bodywork. If there is not sufficient space, it can be placed just behind said bodywork, in the lower portion thereof, thus diverting the spray. The diverting device has a symmetrical rectangular shape, the length of which covers the entire rear portion of the race car, with a front horizontal opening and a horizontal opening in its rear end portion. Furthermore, the diverting device comprises a deflector in the lower portion thereof that is as long as the diverting device.

Description

[0001] QUALIFICATION

[0002] Water Spray Diverter Generated by Racing Cars on Wet Roads.

[0003] FIELD OF INVENTION

[0004] Fluid Mechanics is the branch of Physics that studies the phenomena in which fluids participate in one way or another. There are two divisions: Fluid Statics and Fluid Dynamics, the latter of which is where the field of Innovation lies.

[0005] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0006] An object of the present invention is to deflect the spray generated by racing vehicles on wet surfaces toward the ground. This spray obscures the visibility of the drivers behind each racing car.

[0007] This lack of vision poses a risk to drivers themselves and increases the risk of accidents, as they can overshoot when negotiating a curve or crash into the car in front during sudden braking. This is a safety issue for drivers and is therefore of the highest priority.

[0008] The higher the speed of a vehicle, the greater the spray and the lower the visibility. This invention was developed to solve this problem.

[0009] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) BACKGROUND

[0010] Unlike previous designs, this diverter does not come into contact with the spray in the form of a shock, but instead channels and redirects it thanks to its innovative design.

[0011] In current racing vehicles, no devices are used to solve this problem.

[0012] Street cars have mudguards, or mud flaps, that prevent various materials such as rainwater, stones, and debris from being thrown around once they're hit by the tires. Below are some patents related to my invention:

[0041] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0042] The water spray that impedes the visibility of the drivers behind each car begins to spread once the racing car moves forward on wet ground, the diverter [Fig. 4] redirects the spray.

[0043] As the car moves across the wet road, the spray disperses in several directions. The diverter redirects the spray before it disperses further.

[0044] The diverter [Fig. 1] captures this spray through a rectangular front opening marked with the number 1, which has the same dimension as the width of the racing vehicle and with an inclination of 170 degrees with respect to the floor as in [Fig. 4],

[0045] Said spray is channeled by being conducted internally by the shape of the diverter [Fig. 1] and the flow of water formed is discharged through a horizontal slot in the rear part of the diverter marked with the number 2, which is smaller in height than the front slot.

[0046] The derailleur position [Fig. 6] is located just behind the race cars at the bottom, it is 7 centimeters from the ground at its lowest part of the derailleur, 2 centimeters at the part closest to the tire and with an inclination of 170 degrees with respect to the ground.

[0047] Due to its shape and the angle at which it is positioned, the water flow at the diverter outlet is directed toward the floor, redirecting the spray that obscures visibility. The shape of the diverter and the water outlet opening are designed to divert the water flow downward.

[0048] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) Components: . Diverter. . Deflector, its purpose is to divert water spray that is not captured in the diverter inlet slot towards the floor when it exits in a direction with a very few degrees of inclination with respect to the floor.

[0049] By having the deflector at an angle of 120 degrees, it is possible to redirect the water spray towards the ground and in the event that the racing car invades the limits of the track called "washes" or "pianos" (these have a height difference with respect to the race track of approximately 7 centimeters).

[0050] The deflector collapses when it hits these track limits and does not suffer breakage or modifications. This prevents damage to the deflector and once the race car returns to the race track, the deflector returns to its original position.

[0051] The deflector can be folded down with the help of hinges and 120-degree torsion springs. . Metal Hinge. . 120-degree torsion springs. . Rivets.

[0052] 6. Base that fixes one end of the torsion springs.

[0053] 7.Screw that secures the other end of the torsion spring.
