Description

An electronic device

[0001] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on June 20, 2023, with application number 202310740807.8 and invention name “An Electronic Device”, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference in the embodiments of this application. Technical Field

[0002] The embodiments of the present application relate to the field of wireless transmission technology, and in particular, to an electronic device. Background Art

[0003] Antennas are one of the important components of electronic devices to realize communication functions. Currently, in order to reduce the internal space occupied by antennas in electronic devices, the metal frame of electronic devices will be used as antennas. Antennas formed using metal frames are usually called frame antennas.

[0004] When designing a frame antenna, not only must the type and quantity of antennas be considered to meet the needs of the electronic device, but also the layout of other related components, such as the shape and size of the battery and motherboard, making antenna design relatively complex. This is especially true for foldable electronic devices, where the hinged portion of the frame that can serve as an antenna is smaller, making the design of a frame antenna more challenging.

[0005] Summary of the Invention

[0006] An embodiment of the present application provides an electronic device capable of increasing the electrical length of a radiation section of a metal frame.

[0007] An embodiment of the present application provides an electronic device, the electronic device including a first feeding terminal and a ground terminal, and further including:

[0008] The middle frame includes a metal frame radiation section, and the metal frame radiation section has a first connection position and a second connection position, which are respectively used to be electrically connected to the first feeding terminal and the ground terminal;

[0009] A first metal connecting arm electrically connects at least two of the first connection location and the first feeding terminal, and at least two of the second connection location and the ground terminal, via the first metal connecting arm. The first metal connecting arm has a middle section that is clear of surrounding metal bodies. The surrounding metal bodies include metal components such as the metal frame of the electronic device and metal parts on the motherboard. The first metal connecting arm can be located on the side of the radiating section of the metal frame that faces the motherboard of the electronic device.

[0010] Compared with the prior art, when the positions of the first feeding terminal and the grounding terminal remain unchanged, the first metal connecting arm in the embodiment of the present application has a clearance setting of the middle section, and the electrical length of the antenna between the first feeding terminal and the grounding terminal is equal to the sum of the lengths of the metal section of the metal frame radiating section located between the first connection position and the second connection position and the middle section. The middle section increases the total length of the antenna to a certain extent, thereby realizing the extension of the antenna length between the first feeding terminal and the grounding terminal. In the embodiment of the present application, the middle section can make the low-frequency of the electrical signal radiated by the antenna longer, and the resonance can be lower under the same matching state, so that the resonance is lower when the metal frame radiating section has the same length, thereby solving the problem of insufficient electrical length in a compact layout, resulting in high resonance and deteriorated efficiency.

[0011] In one example, the first connection location and the second connection location are spaced apart along the length of the metal frame radiating segment, and at least a portion of the projection of the middle segment on the metal frame radiating segment is located between the first connection location and the second connection location. Thus, the projection of the middle segment on the metal frame radiating segment is at least partially located between the first connection location and the second connection location, resulting in a relatively compact antenna structure.

[0012] In one example, the extension direction of the middle section is consistent with the length direction of the metal frame radiation section, so that the space in the length direction of the metal frame radiation section is fully utilized to obtain a longer middle section, further increasing the electrical length of the antenna formed by the metal frame radiation section.

[0013] In one example, the middle frame includes a receiving cavity, and the metal frame radiating section further includes a sidewall facing the receiving cavity, the sidewall including a first surface and a second surface, the second surface being recessed relative to the first surface toward a side away from the receiving cavity, a clear space being provided between the middle section and the second surface, and the first metal connecting arm being in electrical contact with the first surface. In the embodiment of the present application, the inner sidewall of the metal frame radiating section (the sidewall facing the receiving cavity is defined as the inner sidewall) is configured as a recessed structure, which can provide a clear space for the middle section, facilitating the clearance setting of the middle section.

[0014] In one example, the first metal connecting arm includes a first plate having a predetermined length along the length of the metal frame's radiating section, a surface of the first plate being arranged opposite the sidewall, the first plate including a middle section and a first connecting portion electrically connected to the first surface, the first connecting portion being located on a side of the middle section away from the ground end. In this embodiment of the present application, the surface of the first plate is opposite the sidewall and extends along the length of the metal frame's radiating section. This minimizes the space occupied by the first metal connecting arm along the width of the middle frame, thereby reducing the width of the electronic device.

[0015] In one example, the middle section includes a second plate at an end distal from the first connection portion. The second plate is bent toward the receiving cavity and includes a second connection portion electrically connected to the ground terminal. The second plate can be substantially perpendicular to the first plate. After the second plate is bent, its surface contacts the ground terminal, facilitating connection.

[0016] In one example, a main board is further included, which is arranged in the accommodating cavity. The surface of the second board is opposite to the surface of the main board, so that the second board occupies a relatively small space in the thickness direction of the electronic device, meeting the ultra-thin design concept of the electronic device.

[0017] In one example, the first plate further includes a positioning segment connected to the side of the first connecting portion away from the middle section. The positioning segment is fixedly connected to the sidewall of the metal frame radiating segment. The positioning segment further increases the fixing area between the first plate and the metal frame radiating segment, thereby improving the reliability of the first plate. The positioning segment and the metal frame radiating segment can be welded together.

[0018] In one example, a first metal connecting arm is connected between a ground terminal and a second connecting position, a third connecting position is further provided on the metal frame radiating segment, the first connecting position, the second connecting position and the third connecting position are arranged in sequence along the length direction of the metal frame radiating segment, the electronic device further comprises a second feeding terminal, the ground terminal is located between the first feeding terminal and the second feeding terminal, the electronic device further comprises a second metal connecting arm, and the third connecting position is electrically connected to the second feeding terminal via the second metal connecting arm. In this way, while the antenna current loop path formed by the segment connected between the first feeding terminal and the ground terminal becomes longer, it will not affect the current loop length formed by the segment between the second feeding terminal and the ground terminal on the metal frame radiating segment, and in this embodiment, two or more feeding terminals are provided on the same metal frame radiating segment, so that the metal frame radiating segment can be loaded with different electrical signals to meet the different functional requirements of the electronic device.

[0019] In one example, the first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm are connected and fixed, or the two are an integral structure. In the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm are connected and fixed, and the first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm can be independent components, and the two can be fixed by means of welding or bonding. The first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm are independent components and can be processed separately, and the processing technology is relatively simple.

[0020] The first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm may both be in the form of antenna metal shrapnel. The antenna shrapnel has a simple structure and occupies a small space.

[0021] In one example, the first metal connecting arm includes a positioning segment, which is connected to the side of the first connecting portion away from the middle section and extends to connect to the second metal connecting arm. In other words, the positioning segment is located between the third connection position and the second connection position, and the positioning segment is connected and fixed to the metal frame radiation segment. This can further improve the fixing reliability of the first metal connecting arm and is conducive to enhancing the overall strength of the electronic device. The positioning segment of the first metal connecting arm located between the third connection position and the second connection position and the metal frame radiation segment can be welded and fixed.

[0022] In one example, the first metal connecting arm is welded and fixed to the metal frame radiation section, and the second metal connecting arm is welded and fixed to the third connection position. Both the first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm are welded and fixed to the corresponding positions of the metal frame radiation section by welding. The welding connection has high reliability and occupies little space.

[0023] In one example, the first metal connecting arm is elastically electrically connected to the first feeding end, and the second metal connecting arm is elastically electrically connected to the second feeding end. The elastic electrical connection is beneficial for buffering the force at the connection position and improving the service life. The second metal connecting arm can be a metal spring to achieve elastic electrical connection. The elastic connection has a buffering effect, which can reduce the impact of external forces on the connection position and ensure the reliability of the connection. The first metal connecting arm and the second metal connecting arm can also be in the form of metal springs to achieve elastic electrical connection. The metal spring is a metal sheet with relatively high elasticity, and has high elasticity and strength.

[0024] In one example, the middle frame includes a metal frame and an intermediate metal plate, the metal frame is located on the periphery of the intermediate metal plate, the metal frame radiation section is a partial section of the metal frame, the ground terminal is provided on the intermediate metal plate, the electronic device includes a mainboard, and the ground terminal is electrically connected to a ground position on the mainboard. The second connecting portion of the first metal connecting arm is fixedly connected to the ground terminal on the intermediate metal plate, which is convenient for connection. The ground terminal of the intermediate metal plate can be connected to the ground position of the mainboard via an elastic electrical connection.

[0025] In the embodiment of the present application, the middle section is separated from the middle metal plate and the metal frame radiating section by a predetermined distance to prevent interference between the middle metal plate and the metal frame radiating section and the middle section's signal radiation. The middle section can be approximately 1 mm apart from the middle metal plate and the metal frame radiating section. The middle section can be positioned between the metal frame and the middle metal plate. The ground terminal and the middle metal plate can be welded together, providing high fixation reliability.

[0026] In one example, the middle frame further includes a plastic body, and the metal frame and the intermediate metal plate are connected to form an integral body through the plastic body. While meeting the requirements of the electronic device, the plastic body is relatively lightweight, which helps reduce the overall weight of the electronic device. The metal frame and the intermediate metal plate can be integrally formed with the plastic body during the injection molding process.

[0027] In one example, the middle frame includes N sequentially connected side edges, and the metal frame radiating section is located on only one side edge, or the metal frame radiating section is located on two adjacent side edges simultaneously; where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2. The shape of the metal frame radiating section can be flexibly arranged according to usage requirements.

[0028] In one example, the electronic device is a foldable electronic device, the middle frame includes a first middle frame and a second middle frame, the foldable electronic device also includes a rotating shaft, the first middle frame and the second middle frame are respectively rotatably connected to both sides of the rotating shaft, and the frame of at least one of the first middle frame and the second middle frame has a metal frame radiation segment, each metal frame radiation segment and the first feeding end and the grounding end electrically connected to the metal frame radiation segment are all located on the same side of the rotating shaft. In this way, there is no need to use a special flexible transmission line to cross the rotating shaft to achieve the connection between the metal frame radiation segment and the first feeding end. This can not only simplify the structure of the foldable electronic device, reduce the thickness of the foldable electronic product, and reduce the cost of using the foldable electronic device, but also reduce the space occupied by the antenna in the middle frame accommodating cavity, which is conducive to optimizing the structure of other components of the electronic device, such as increasing the battery capacity, etc., further improving the quality of the entire machine.

[0029] In one example, the foldable electronic device further includes a mainboard, which is located in a first middle frame. All metal frame radiating segments with transmitting functions are centrally located in the first middle frame. This allows the metal frame radiating segments connected to the mainboard's RF circuitry to be located only in the first middle frame, thus meeting the requirements of the foldable electronic device. There is no need to locate metal frame radiating segments connected to the mainboard's RF circuitry in the second middle frame, simplifying the structure of the foldable electronic device and optimizing its overall structural layout.

[0030] In one example, the second middle frame includes at least one metal frame radiating segment, and the metal frame radiating segment located in the second middle frame only has modulation and / or demodulation functions. This allows the antenna on the second middle frame to be essentially a passive antenna, which can be used in conjunction with the antenna on the first middle frame to improve the radiation performance of the antenna on the first middle frame. [0061] The inventors of this application have conducted extensive research on the design of border antennas in electronic devices. Please refer to Figure 1, which shows a radiation principle diagram of a border antenna. Figure 1 shows two border antenna segments arranged on the same side of the middle frame 100A': a first border segment 1011' and a second border segment 1012'. The first border segment 1011' and the second border segment 1012' have the same working principles. This embodiment of the application uses the first border segment 1011' as an example to illustrate the working principle of the antenna. The first border segment 1011' is used to electrically connect to the ground point G and the RF circuit P1 through the first connection point 101a' and the second connection point 101b', respectively. Because RF circuit P1 is electrically connected to first frame segment 1011', when RF circuit P1 transmits an electrical signal to metal radiating element 101c' located between first connection point 101a' and second connection point 101b', the electric and magnetic fields surrounding metal radiating element 101c' between first connection point 101a' and second connection point 101b' will change, causing metal radiating element 101c' to resonate and radiate wireless signals outward. RF circuit P2 of second frame segment 1012' can be different from RF circuit P1 of first frame segment 1011', or they can be the same.

[0062] Please refer to Figure 2 for understanding. Currently, the first connection point 101a' and the second connection point 101b' are respectively electrically connected to the ground terminal 31' and the feeding terminal 32' located directly below them through the vertically arranged conductive spring 2', wherein the feeding terminal 32' is arranged on the main board 4', and the conductive spring 2' is basically in contact with the first frame segment 1011', the ground terminal 31' or the feeding terminal 32'. Therefore, the length L of the metal radiation unit 101c' determines the radiation frequency band of the frame antenna. The lower the radiation frequency band, the longer L is, and the section of the middle frame that can be used as a frame antenna is limited. The arrangement of a frame antenna with a lower radiation frequency band will inevitably result in a smaller size of the middle frame 100A' that can be used for other radiation frequency bands. In order to meet the use requirements of electronic devices with multiple radiation frequency bands, the arrangement of frame antennas with low radiation frequency bands is usually cancelled when arranging frame antennas, which to a certain extent limits the functional requirements of electronic devices.

[0063] In particular, the layout of the frame antenna has a more significant impact on the overall parameters of a foldable electronic device. Referring to Figure 3, the current foldable electronic device includes a middle frame 100A' and a hinge 103', wherein the middle frame 100A' includes two parts: a first middle frame 101' and a second middle frame 102'. The first middle frame 101' and the second middle frame 102' are arranged on both sides of the hinge 103' and can be folded and unfolded relative to each other through the hinge 103'. Due to the arrangement of the hinge of the foldable electronic device, the first middle frame 101' can only be provided with radiation segments on three sides: the first side 1-1', the second side 1-2', and the third side 1-3'. In order to meet the requirements of multiple antenna functions of the foldable electronic device, it is currently necessary to provide radiation segments on both the first middle frame 101' and the second middle frame 102'. Figure 3 shows that the first middle frame 101' is provided with a first radiation segment 1011' and the second middle frame 102' is provided with a second radiation segment 1012'. However, the main board 2' is usually arranged on one side of the first middle frame 101', and the RF circuits of each radiation section are located on the main board 2'. For example, the first RF circuit P1 and the second RF circuit P2 in Figure 3 are both located on the main board 2', and the first RF circuit P1 and the second RF circuit P2 provide electrical signals for the first radiation section 1011' and the second radiation section 1012' respectively, wherein the electrical signal of the second RF circuit P2 needs to be transmitted to the second radiation section 1012' through the transmission line 3'. The transmission line 3' passes through the area where the rotating shaft 103' is located. Because the transmission line 3' needs to coordinate with the rotating shaft 103' to reciprocate and unfold, the transmission line 3' must be made of special materials, such as polyimide (PI), modified polyimide (MPI), liquid crystal polymer (LCP), etc. The transmission line 3' made of special flexible materials is relatively expensive, resulting in a relatively high cost of the foldable electronic device. In addition, the transmission line 3' made of special flexible materials is thicker than that of conventional flexible printed circuit (FPC) materials, occupies a larger space, increases the thickness of the entire device, and limits the increase in battery capacity, thereby affecting the performance parameters of the entire device.

[0064] Based on the above research findings, the inventors of this application explored and conducted a large number of experiments, and proposed an electronic device that can meet the use requirements of as many radiation frequency bands as possible, has high flexibility of use, and has high overall quality.

[0082] Please refer to FIG6 , which is a structural diagram showing only the approximate positions of the first middle frame, the second middle frame, the rotating shaft and the main board in FIG5 , wherein the dotted line roughly shows the middle metal plate 1 .

[0083] In the embodiment of the present application, the first middle frame 101 may include an intermediate metal plate 1, a metal frame 3, and a plastic body 2. The approximate positions of the three are shown in Figure 6. The metal frame 3 is located on the periphery of the intermediate metal plate 1. In a foldable electronic device, the intermediate metal plate 1 does not have a metal frame 3 on the side where the hinge 103 is located. That is, for the rectangular first middle frame 101, the metal frame 3 includes three sides: a first side 301, a second side 302, and a third side 303. The metal frame 3 is located on the periphery of the intermediate metal plate 1. The intermediate metal plate 1 is located within the space enclosed by the metal frame 3 and the hinge 103. The intermediate metal plate 1 can support the motherboard 4 of the foldable electronic device and components such as the camera 193. The motherboard 4 here can be part of the structure of the processor 110. The first middle frame 101 has a receiving cavity 100b, and components such as the motherboard 4 are installed inside the receiving cavity 100b.

[0084] In the embodiment of the present application, the mainboard 4 of the electronic device 100 can be set in the first middle frame 101. The first middle frame 101 serves as the main frame of the electronic device. The radio frequency circuits of various antennas are all set on the mainboard 4. At least part of the metal frame 3 of the first middle frame 101 can be used as an active antenna. No antenna is set on one side of the second middle frame 102 or only a modulation or / and demodulation antenna is set. The function of modulation is to convert various digital baseband signals into digital modulated signals (modulated signals or frequency band signals) suitable for channel transmission; the function of demodulation is to restore the received digital frequency band signals to digital baseband signals at the receiving end. The antenna formed by the metal frame radiation section provided in the embodiment of the present application can be used for both radio frequency circuits and modulation and demodulation circuits.

[0085] Please refer to Figure 6. In the embodiment of the present application, the metal frame 3 of the first middle frame 101 has a metal frame radiation section 3-1, and the metal frame radiation section 3-1 is disconnected from other sections of the metal frame 3 by a breakpoint 3a. Figure 6 shows that the metal frame radiation section 3-1 is located on the second side 302 of the metal frame 3. In addition to the metal frame radiation section 3-1, the metal frame 3 also includes a first section 3-2 and a second section 3-3. There is a breakpoint 3a between the metal frame radiation section 3-1 and the first section 3-2, and there is also a breakpoint 3a between the metal frame radiation section 3-1 and the second section 3-3. Of course, according to the actual needs of the electronic device, the first section 3-2 and the second section 3-3 can also be used as a frame antenna. That is to say, the metal frame radiation section 3-1 in the present application can be located only on one side of the first middle frame 101, and of course it can also be located on both adjacent sides at the same time. The number of sides of the first middle frame 101 is not limited to 3 as shown in the embodiment of the present application. The first middle frame 101 may have N sides connected in sequence, where N is an integer greater than or equal to 2. For example, N may be 3, 4, 5, or an integer greater than 5.

[0086] For non-foldable electronic devices, the number of sides of the middle frame 100A can also be an integer greater than or equal to 2, and the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 can be located only on one side of the first middle frame 101, and of course it can also be located on two adjacent sides at the same time.

[0087] Please refer to Figures 7 and 8. Figure 7 is a partial cross-sectional view of CC in Figure 5. The structure in Figure 7 only shows the main components; Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of the structure of Figure 7 from another direction.

[0088] Figure 7 shows a support platform 11 provided on the intermediate metal plate 1, which supports the mainboard 4. Furthermore, positioning posts 7 and fixing bolts 6 may be fixed to the intermediate metal plate 1. The positioning posts 7 are used to position the mainboard 4 during assembly, and the fixing bolts 6 securely connect the mainboard 4 to the intermediate metal plate 1 and also ground the mainboard 4. In this embodiment, the metal frame 3 and the intermediate metal plate 1 can be separated and integrated by a plastic body 2. The intermediate metal plate 1 and the metal frame 3 are formed integrally by the plastic body 2, simplifying the molding process and ensuring a relatively lightweight middle frame 100A while maintaining sufficient strength. The metal frame 3 and the intermediate metal plate 1 can be partially separated. For example, only the section of the metal frame 3 that serves as the antenna is separated from the intermediate metal plate 1, while the section that does not serve as the antenna can be connected to the intermediate metal body 1. This can improve the overall strength of the middle frame 100A to a certain extent. Alternatively, the metal frame 3 and the intermediate metal plate 1 can be completely separated.

[0089] Please refer to Figures 7 and 8 again. In an embodiment of the present application, the antenna of the electronic device includes a metal frame radiation section 3-1 and a first metal connecting arm 5. As shown in Figure 6, the metal frame radiation section 3-1 is a part of the metal frame 3. The metal frame 3 can have one or more metal frame radiation sections 3-1. Please refer to Figure 7. The metal frame radiation section 3-1 includes a first connection position 3a and a second connection position 3b. The first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b can be electrically connected to the first feeding terminal 41 and the grounding terminal 1b respectively, wherein the first feeding terminal 41 and the first RF circuit on the mainboard 4 can be connected through a transmission line, that is, the first feeding terminal 41 can be a RF feeding terminal. When the metal frame radiation section 3-1 is electrically connected to the first RF circuit, the metal frame radiation section 3-1 can be used as a transmitting antenna. Of course, the first feeding terminal 41 can also be electrically connected to the first modulation and demodulation circuit on the mainboard 4, that is, the first feeding terminal 41 can be a modulation and demodulation signal feeding terminal. The structures of the RF feeding terminal and the modulation and demodulation signal feeding terminal are roughly the same. The ground terminal 1b is located on the middle metal plate 1 and can be electrically connected to a corresponding grounding position on the main board 4 via a feeder line or a metal spring. The ground terminal 1b can be connected to the middle metal plate 1 by welding.

[0090] Please refer to Figures 9 and 10 for understanding. Figure 9 is a schematic diagram of the structure shown in Figure 7 without the mainboard and fixing bolts, and Figure 10 is a schematic diagram of the structure shown in Figure 9 without the plastic body. The electronic device in the embodiment of the present application includes a first feeding terminal 41 and a grounding terminal 1b, and the metal frame radiation section 3-1 has a first connection position 3a and a second connection position 3b. The first connection position 3a is electrically connected to the first feeding terminal 41, and the second connection position 3b is electrically connected to the grounding terminal 1b. The section of the metal frame radiation section 3-1 located between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b is connected to the current loop between the first feeding terminal 41 and the grounding terminal 1b.

[0091] In the embodiment of the present application, two of at least one of the first connection position 3a and the first feeding terminal 41, and the second connection position 3b and the grounding terminal 1b are electrically connected through the first metal connecting arm 5. In the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 is connected between the second connection position 3b and the grounding terminal 1b. Among them, the corresponding position of the metal frame radiation section 3-1 and the first metal connecting arm 5 can be fixedly connected by welding. The first metal connecting arm 5 has an intermediate section 53, and the intermediate section 53 and the surrounding metal body of the electronic device have a clearance setting. The so-called clearance setting means that the intermediate section 53 and the surrounding metal body have a certain predetermined gap. The size range of the predetermined gap is: based on not affecting the radiation work of the intermediate section 53, or even if there is an impact, the impact is within the required range. The peripheral metal body includes metal parts such as the metal frame 3 of the electronic device, the intermediate metal plate 1 and the main board 4.

[0092] Referring again to Figures 7 to 10 , in the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 includes two connecting portions, defined as a first connecting portion 51 and a second connecting portion 52, with the middle section 53 connected between the first connecting portion 51 and the second connecting portion 52. In the embodiment of the present application, the second connecting position 3b and the grounding terminal 1b are fixedly connected to the first connecting portion 51 and the second connecting portion 52 of the first metal connecting arm 5, respectively.

[0093] In the embodiment of the present application, the first connecting portion 51 and the second connecting portion 52 are spaced apart along the length direction S of the metal frame radiating segment 3-1. The distance between the first connecting portion 3a and the second connecting portion 3b along the length direction S of the metal frame radiating segment 3-1 is determined based on the antenna length requirements of the specific product. In the embodiment of the present application, the distance between the first connecting position 3a and the second connecting position 3b along the length direction S of the metal frame radiating segment 3-1 is also determined based on the antenna length requirements of the specific product.

[0094] Referring to Figures 7 to 10 , when the first metal connecting arm 5 is connected between the second connection location 3b and the ground terminal 1b, because the first connection portion 51 and the second connection portion 52 are spaced apart in direction S, the second connection location 3b and the ground terminal 1b are also spaced apart in the length direction of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1. In the embodiment of the present application, the first connection location 3a and the first feeding terminal 41 are electrically connected via a metal spring 8. The metal spring 8 is a straight plate structure. The metal spring 8 has a welding area 81 that is welded to the first connection location 3a. The lower end of the metal spring 8 is elastically abutted and electrically connected to the first feeding terminal 41.

[0095] Of course, the structure of the metal spring 8 is not limited to the above description in the present application, and may also be other structures as long as the electrical connection between the first connection position 3 a and the first feeding end 41 can be achieved.

[0096] The metal frame radiation segment 3-1 can be a straight segment. The embodiment of the present application shows a specific example in which the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 is a substantially straight segment, where S is the length direction of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1. Of course, the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 can also be a curved segment.

[0097] In the embodiment of the present application, the first connecting portion 51 and the second connecting portion 52 are arranged at intervals along the extension direction of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1, which is conducive to extending the middle section 53 along the S direction and making full use of the space in the length direction of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1. In this way, a longer middle section 53 can be obtained, further increasing the electrical length of the antenna.

[0098] The first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b are also spaced apart along the length direction S of the metal frame radiating section 3-1, and at least a portion of the projection of the middle section 53 on the metal frame radiating section 3-1 is located between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b. Thus, the projection of the middle section 53 on the metal frame radiating section 3-1 is at least partially located between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b, resulting in a relatively compact antenna structure.

[0099] In one example, the metal frame radiation section 3-1 also includes a side wall 31 facing the rotating shaft 103 or the side of the main board 4. Of course, the side wall 31 also faces the accommodating cavity 100b of the middle frame 100A. The side wall 31 includes a first surface 311 and a second surface 312. The second surface 312 is recessed relative to the first surface 311 toward the side away from the main board 4. A predetermined gap is formed between the middle section 53 and the second surface 312, and the first connecting portion 52 contacts the first surface 311 for electrical connection.

[0100] In the above embodiment, a recessed section is set on the side wall 31 of the metal frame radiation section 3-1 toward the first metal connecting arm 5 to meet the clearance requirement between the middle section 53 and the metal frame radiation section 3-1, thereby reducing the mutual interference between the two during radiation operation. This setting method is relatively simple and can minimize the size of the first middle frame 101 along the S1 direction.

[0101] In order to improve the overall strength of the first middle frame 101 , the concave portion of the second surface 312 may be properly filled with the plastic body 2 .

[0102] Please further refer to Figure 11, which is a cross-sectional view EE of the structure shown in Figure 10. Figure 11 shows a predetermined gap m between the middle section 53 and the metal frame radiating section 3-1 along the S1 direction. The predetermined gap m is based on the assumption that the middle section 53 and the metal frame radiating section 3-1 do not affect each other during radiation operation, or even if they do affect each other, the effect is within the required range. In one specific embodiment, the predetermined gap m is approximately 1 mm.

[0103] In the embodiment of the present application, after the middle section 53 of the first metal connecting arm 5 is cleared, when the antenna is working, please refer to Figure 12 for the path of the current I1, and the total length of the antenna connected between the first feeding terminal 41 and the ground terminal 1b is L'=L1+L2, where L1 is the length of the section of the metal frame radiation section 3-1 between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b, and L2 is the length of the middle section 53.

[0104] In combination with Figures 9 and 12, it can be understood that the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 also has a first end 3e and a second end 3d. When the antenna formed by the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 and the first metal connecting arm 5 is working, the section of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 located between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b plays a major radiation role, and the section between the first connection position 3a and the first end 3e and the section between the second connection position 3b and the second end 3d can also play a radiation role according to the requirements of the radiation frequency band.

[0105] Compared with the prior art, when the positions of the first feeding terminal 41 and the grounding terminal 1b remain unchanged or the positions of the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b on the first metal connecting arm 5 remain unchanged, in the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 has a clearance setting of the middle section 53, and the electrical length of the antenna is equal to the sum of the length of the metal section of the metal frame radiation section 3-1 located between the first connection position 3a and the second connection position 3b and the middle section 53, which is approximately twice the length of L2 compared with the prior art, that is, the middle section 53 increases the electrical length of the antenna to a certain extent, thereby achieving the extension of the antenna length between the first feeding terminal 41 and the grounding terminal 1b. In the embodiment of the present application, the middle section 53 can be used to lengthen the low frequency, and the resonance can be lower under the same matching state. When the metal frame radiation section 3-1 has the same length, the antenna formed by the metal frame radiation section 3-1 and the first metal connecting arm 5 provided by the present application has a lower resonance, which solves the problem of insufficient electrical length in a compact layout, resulting in high resonance and deteriorated efficiency.

[0106] In the embodiment of the present application, when the antenna is used as a low-frequency band antenna, within the 703MHz-960MHz operating frequency band, the antenna of the embodiment of the present application can improve the antenna performance by 0.5dB; when the antenna's operating frequency band is 1.7GHz-2.69GHz, compared with the prior art, the antenna of the embodiment of the present application can improve the antenna performance by about 0.5dB. Of course, the antenna's operating frequency band includes but is not limited to the above operating frequency bands. The antenna in the embodiment of the present application can be expanded in more forms according to different usage environments, and the performance improvement of different frequency bands can be controlled by increasing and decreasing the length of the middle section 53, and the coverage range can reach 0.5GHz-6GHz operating frequency band. Where 1GHz = 1000MHz.

[0107] FIG13 shows a simulation diagram of the antenna in the embodiment of the present application and the antenna in the prior art, wherein the horizontal axis represents frequency and the vertical axis represents efficiency.

[0108] Under the condition that other parameters are the same and only the structure of the first metal connecting arm 5 is different, it can be seen from the figure that the mark ① is the resonant frequency of the antenna in the embodiment of the present application, and its value is 0.92GHZ; the mark ② is the resonant frequency of the border antenna of the current existing solution, and its value is 0.990GHZ. Obviously, the resonant frequency gain of the antenna in the embodiment of the present application is 70MHZ.

[0109] Marked ③ in the figure is the peak efficiency of the current existing border antenna, with a value of -4.3dBi; marked ④ is the peak efficiency of the antenna in the embodiment of the present application, with a value of -4.1dBi (dBi is the unit that represents the antenna gain). Compared with the existing border antenna, the antenna gain in the embodiment of the present application is increased by approximately 0.2dBi.

[0110] By using the antenna provided in the embodiment of the present application, the total length of the frame antenna of the first middle frame 101 is extended by utilizing the middle section 53 of the first metal connecting arm 5, so that more antennas can be arranged at the first middle frame 101, or the length of the antenna formed by the single metal frame radiation section 3-1 can be increased, which is suitable for the radiation of medium and low frequency band electrical signals. In this way, an antenna connected to the radio frequency signal of the mainboard 4 can be set only at the first middle frame 101, which can meet the use requirements of the foldable electronic device. There is no need to set an antenna connected to the radio frequency signal of the mainboard at the second middle frame 102, and the flexible transmission line passing through the rotating shaft 103 in the prior art is eliminated. This not only simplifies the structure of the foldable electronic device and can reduce the thickness of the foldable electronic product, but also increases the available space inside the middle frame 100A, which is conducive to optimizing the structure or layout of other components, such as increasing the battery capacity, further improving the quality of the whole machine, and reducing the use cost of the foldable electronic device.

[0111] For example, in a foldable electronic device, all first metal connecting arms 3-1 with a transmitting function are centrally arranged in the first middle frame 101. The main board 4 includes M radio frequency circuits for providing radio frequency signals to each first metal connecting arm 3-1. The main board 4 is arranged in the first middle frame 101. Where M is an integer greater than or equal to 1.

[0112] Figures 14 to 17 show another embodiment of a partial schematic diagram of an electronic device of the present application, wherein the positions of the structures shown in Figure 14 and Figure 7 in the electronic device are roughly the same. The main difference between the structures shown in Figure 14 and Figure 7 is that the metal frame radiation section 3-1 in the embodiment shown in Figure 14 is also provided with a third connection position 3c, and the antenna also includes a second metal connecting arm 9. The third connection position 3c is electrically connected to the second feeding terminal 42 of the mainboard 4 through the second metal connecting arm 9. The second feeding terminal 42 is used to electrically connect to the second RF circuit or the second modulation and demodulation circuit provided on the mainboard 4. The local section 91 of the second metal connecting arm 9 is welded to the third connection position 3, and the two are formed into a whole by welding, and the connection reliability is high. The second metal connecting arm 9 and the second feeding terminal 42 can elastically abut to achieve electrical connection. The second metal connecting arm 9 can be in the form of a metal spring. The first feeding terminal 41 and the second feeding terminal 42 can have the same structure, and the frequencies of the electrical signals loaded by the first RF circuit and the second RF circuit can be the same, or of course different.

[0113] In conjunction with Figure 18 , the metal frame radiating segment 3-1 in the antenna of this embodiment can be configured to form two current loops: a first current loop and a second current loop. The direction of current I1 in the first current loop is: 41-3a-3b-53-1b; the direction of current I2 in the second current loop is: 42-3c-3b-53-1b. The first and second RF circuits can carry electrical signals of different frequencies. By time-sharing activation or other control methods, the metal frame radiating segment 3-1 can radiate different electrical signals, meeting the diverse functional requirements of electronic devices.

[0114] Please refer to Figures 15 to 18 to understand that in the embodiment of the present application, the ground terminal 1b can be located between the first feeding terminal 41 and the second feeding terminal 42, and the first connection position 3a, the second connection position 3b, and the third connection position 3c are arranged in sequence along the length direction S of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1. As can be seen from Figure 18, when the first metal connecting arm 5 is connected to the ground terminal 1b and the metal frame radiation segment 3-1, the path of the first current loop becomes longer, which will not affect the change in the path of the second current loop. That is, the total length of the radiating antenna formed by the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 and the second RF circuit remains roughly unchanged, meeting the use requirements of specific environments and having relatively high flexibility of use.

[0115] The specific structure of the first metal connecting arm 5 in the embodiments shown in FIG. 7 to FIG. 18 can be understood in conjunction with FIG. 19 .

[0116] Referring to Figures 20 and 21 , this application also provides another embodiment of a partial structure of an electronic device. Compared to the two embodiments shown in Figures 7 and 14 , the antennas shown in Figures 20 and 21 differ primarily in that the first metal connecting arm 5 and the metal frame radiating section 3-1 are integrally formed. Compared to forming the two components separately and securing them by welding, the integral formation of the two components in this embodiment simplifies the assembly steps of the electronic device.

[0117] Please understand in conjunction with Figures 22 to 24 that the embodiment of the present application also provides another specific embodiment of the local structure of the electronic device, wherein the position of the structure shown in Figure 22 and the structure shown in Figure 7 in the electronic device is roughly the same. In the embodiment of the present application, in order to improve the reliability of the fixation of the first metal connecting arm 5, the first plate body 5-1 may also include a positioning segment 54, the positioning segment 54 is connected to the side of the first connecting portion 51 away from the middle section 53, and the positioning segment 54 is at least partially connected and fixed to the side wall 31 of the metal frame radiation section 3-1. The positioning segment 54 has a welding area 541, and the welding area 541 is welded and fixed to the side wall 31.

[0118] Please refer to Figures 25, 26 and 27. The embodiment of the present application also provides another specific embodiment of the local structure of the electronic device. In the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 is connected and fixed to the second metal connecting arm 9. The first metal connecting arm 5 and the second metal connecting arm 9 can be independent components, and the two are fixed by means of welding or bonding. The first metal connecting arm 5 and the second metal connecting arm 9 are independent components and can be processed separately, and the processing technology is relatively simple.

[0119] Of course, the first metal connecting arm 5 and the second metal connecting arm 9 can also be an integral structure, and the two can be integrally formed by stamping, etc. The integrally formed structure is easy to install and operate.

[0120] Referring again to Figures 25 and 26 , in the embodiment where the first metal connecting arm 5 and the second metal connecting arm 9 are integrally formed, the section of the first metal connecting arm 5 between the third connection location 3c and the first connecting portion 51 is further connected and fixed to the metal frame radiating segment 3-1. The section of the metal frame radiating segment 3-1 between the third connection location 3c and the first connecting portion 51 is a positioning segment 54. The positioning segment 54 primarily serves to fix the connection and conduct current and does not need to serve as an antenna radiating segment. The figure shows a welding area 541 where the first metal connecting arm 5 is welded to the metal frame radiating segment 3-1.

[0121] In the embodiment of the present application, the third connection position 3c and the second feeding end 42 can be arranged in a direction perpendicular to the thickness of the mainboard 4, and the second metal connecting arm 9 can be a straight plate structure mainboard, which occupies a smaller space and is conducive to the compact structure of the electronic device.

[0122] In the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 can be in the form of a metal spring. The metal spring has a simple structure and occupies a small space. The two connection positions are elastically connected and have a buffering effect, which can reduce the impact of external force on the connection position and ensure the connection reliability of the connection position.

[0123] In the embodiment of the present application, the first connection portion 51 can be fixedly connected to the second connection position 3b by welding, and the second connection portion 52 can be fixedly connected to the ground end 1b by welding.

[0124] Referring to Figures 19, 20, 23, and 26, in the embodiment of the present application, the first metal connecting arm 5 includes a first plate 5-1 having a predetermined length along the length direction S of the metal frame radiation section 3-1. The plate surface 501 of the first plate 5-1 is arranged opposite the side wall 31. The first plate 5-1 includes a middle section 53 and a first connecting portion 51. The first connecting portion 51 is located on the side of the middle section 53 away from the ground terminal 1b. In the embodiment of the present application, the plate surface 501 of the first plate 5-1 is opposite the side wall 31 and extends along the length direction of the metal frame radiation section 3-1. In this way, the first metal connecting arm 5 occupies less space in the S1 direction, reducing the size of the electronic device in this direction.

[0125] Referring again to Figures 9, 19, 20, 23, and 26, in the embodiment of the present application, the end of the first plate 5-1 away from the first connection portion 51 includes a second plate 5-2. The second plate 5-2 is bent toward the mainboard 4, and the second connection portion 52 is located on the second plate 5-2. The second plate 5-2 can be approximately perpendicular to the first plate 5-1. In the embodiment of the present application, the second connection portion 52 on the second plate 5-2 is connected to the ground terminal 1b of the intermediate metal plate 1 located below the mainboard 4. The plate surface 503 of the second plate can be arranged approximately parallel to the plate surface of the mainboard 4. This reduces the height of the second plate 5-2 on the electronic device, making it easier to insert it under the mainboard 4 and weld it to the ground terminal 1b on the intermediate metal plate 1. In the embodiment of the present application, the second plate 5-2 is connected to the side of the first plate 5-1 extending along the length S of the metal frame radiation segment 3-1. The plate surface 503 of the second plate contacts the first feed terminal 41 or the ground terminal 1b to form an electrical connection. After the second plate 5 - 2 is bent, the plate surface 503 of the second plate contacts the ground terminal 1 b , which can reduce the space occupied by the electronic device in the thickness direction and meet the ultra-thin design concept of the electronic device.

[0126] When the electronic device is a foldable electronic device, the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 and the first feeding end 41 and the grounding end 1b electrically connected to the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 can all be located on the same side of the rotating shaft. The structure is simple and compact, and there is no need to use a special flexible transmission line to cross the rotating shaft 103 area, saving costs and reducing space occupancy.

[0127] The above embodiments of the present application all introduce the technical solutions by taking the first metal connecting arm 5 of the above structure as an example, which is set between the second connection position 3b and the ground terminal 1b. Those skilled in the art should understand that the first metal connecting arm 5 of the above structure can also be set between the first connection position 3a and the first feeding terminal 41, as shown in Figure 28.

[0128] It should be noted that the fixed connection positions in Figures 7 to 28 are marked with multiple small circles.

[0129] Of course, the antenna formed by the metal frame radiation segment 3-1 and the first metal connecting arm 5 in the embodiment of the present application is also applicable to non-folding electronic devices, which can optimize the frame antenna arrangement of non-folding electronic devices, meet the needs of multiple radiation frequency bands, increase the use function of electronic devices, and thus improve the quality of the whole device. For non-folding electronic devices, the number of middle frames 100A is one. This application does not provide a drawing showing an antenna arranged on a non-folding electronic device, but it does not prevent those skilled in the art from applying the above antenna to non-folding electronic devices.

[0130] In addition, another embodiment of the antenna is given below.

[0131] Please refer to Figure 29, which is another structural diagram of the current frame antenna. In some application environments, due to layout or structural limitations, the grounding end 1b' is relatively far away from the metal frame radiation section 3-1'. The metal frame radiation section 3-1' needs to be provided with a small branch 31'. The free end of the small branch 31' can extend to a position near the grounding end 1b', and then the connecting spring 5' is fixed to the free end of the small branch 31'. The connecting spring 5' mainly serves to electrically connect the small branch 31' and the grounding end 1b'.
