Then, the prime mover 105 is in an idle state. The vehicle 100 is running due to its own momentum without connecting to the prime mover 105.
[0029] Further, the controlling unit 130 is configured to manage the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 to maintain the one or more parameters within the predefined threshold by the controlling unit 130 if the information of the one or more parameters is one of greater than and lesser than the predefined threshold. During the managing process, the controlling unit 130 is configured to disconnect the prime mover 105 from the transmission unit 110 when the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold.
[0030] On disconnection, the vehicle 100 is adapted to run on its own momentum without any load of the input shaft 115 on the prime mover 105. In that moment, the prime mover 105 is in the idle state. Internal elements, such as, but not limited to, Air Conditioning (AC), and media unit are operated by utilizing the prime mover 105 power. Upon disconnection of the prime mover 105 from the transmission unit 110, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 decreases. Thereby, advantageously, ensuring improved fuel efficiency of the vehicle 100. Further, due to achieving higher fuel efficiency, the system 200 aids in reducing air pollution.
[0031] Furthermore, when the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is lesser than the predefined threshold, the controlling unit 130 is configured to reconnect the prime mover 105 to the transmission unit 110. On reconnection, the momentum of the vehicle 100 is powered by the prime mover 105. Upon reconnection of the prime mover 105 to the transmission unit 110, the controlling unit 130 is configured to gradually increase the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 such that the one or more parameters is one of equal to and greater than the predefined threshold. When the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold, again the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110.
[0032] In one embodiment, owing to a downward slope, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold. In an embodiment, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is controlled by the controlling unit 130 when the controlling unit 130 is configured to receive a second input from the user interface 135. [0034] FIG. 3 is a flow chart illustrating a coasting control method 300 of FIG.l, according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. For the purpose of description, the method 300 is described with the embodiment as illustrated in FIG. 2.
[0035] At step 305, the method includes the step of allowing the user of the vehicle 100 to provide the first input to initiate coasting of the vehicle 100 by the user interface 135. In an embodiment, the first input is at least one of, but not limited to, the switch. In an alternate embodiment, the first input is at least one of, but not limited to, the signal. Upon initiating coasting of the vehicle 100 by the user interface 135, the sensing unit 125 is configured to collect information pertaining to the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100. In one embodiment, the one or more parameters is one of, but not limited to, speed and torque. In an alternate embodiment, the one or more parameters is one of, but not limited to, Revolution Per Minute (RPM), temperature, pressure, emission and battery voltage.
[0036] At step 310, the method includes the step of receiving the collected information pertaining to the one or more parameters from the sensing unit 125 to the controlling unit 130 upon collecting the information pertaining to the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 by the sensing unit 125.
[0037] At step 315, the method includes the step of comparing the information pertaining to the one or more parameters with the predefined threshold by the controlling unit 130. In an embodiment, the predefined threshold is defined by one of the user of the vehicle 100. In an alternate embodiment, the predefined threshold is defined by a vehicle manufacturer. The upper speed limit corresponds to the maximum speed that the vehicle 100 may operate under coasting, being powered by the prime mover 105. The lower speed limit corresponds to the minimum speed at which the vehicle 100 may travel, when the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110.
[0038] On comparing the information pertaining to the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 with the predefined threshold, the controlling unit 130 is configured to determine if the information of the one or more parameters is one of greater than and lesser than the predefined threshold. If the information of the one or more parameters is greater than the predefined threshold, the controlling unit 130 is configured to disconnect the prime mover 105 from the transmission unit 110. Then, the prime mover 105 is in an idle state. The vehicle 100 is running due to its own momentum without connecting to the prime mover 105.
[0039] At step 320, the method includes the step of managing the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 to maintain the one or more parameters within the predefined threshold by the controlling unit 130 if the information of the one or more parameters is one of greater than and lesser than the predefined threshold. During the managing process, the controlling unit 130 is configured to disconnect the prime mover 105 from the transmission unit 110 when the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold.
[0040] On disconnection, the vehicle 100 is adapted to run on its own momentum without any load of the input shaft 115 on the prime mover 105. In that moment, the prime mover 105 is in the idle state. Further, the AC load may be active but the prime mover 105 will operate without any load from the transmission unit 110.
[0041] Furthermore, when the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is lesser than the predefined threshold, the controlling unit 130 is configured to reconnect the prime mover 105 to the transmission unit 110. Whenthe one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold, again the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110.
[0042] In one embodiment, owing to the downward slope, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold. In an embodiment, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is controlled by the controlling unit 130 when the controlling unit 130 is configured to receive a second input from the user interface 135. In an embodiment, the second input is at least one of, a brake. In an alternate embodiment, the second input is at least one of, a switch and an accelerator of the vehicle 100. In this regard, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 gradually increases. In one embodiment, on the downward slope the brake is engaged to reduce the speed of the vehicle 100. Further, on the upward slope, the accelerator is utilized to increase the speed of the vehicle 100.
[0043] In an alternate embodiment, the user interface 135 is configured to provide the second input to deactivate the coasting of the vehicle. In an embodiment, the second input is at least one of, the brake, the switch, and the accelerator of the vehicle 100. Upon receiving the second input from the user interface 135, the controlling unit 130 is configured to deactivate the coasting of the vehicle 100.
[0044] FIG. 4 is a flow chart illustrating the coasting control method 300 for the vehicle 100, according to one or more embodiments of the present invention. For the purpose of description, the method 300 is described with the embodiment as illustrated in FIG. 2.
[0045] At step 405, the method includes the step of allowing the user of the vehicle 100 to provide the first input to initiate coasting of the vehicle 100 by the user interface 135. The first input is at least one of, but not limited to, the switch, and the signal. In an embodiment, the first input is at leastone of, but not limited to, the switch. In an alternate embodiment, the first input is at least one of, but not limited to the signal.
[0046] Upon initiating coasting of the vehicle 100 by the user interface 135, the sensing unit 125 is configured to collect the information pertaining to the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100. In one embodiment, the one or more parameters is one of, but not limited to, speed and torque. In an alternate embodiment, the one or more parameters is one of, but not limited to, Revolution Per Minute (RPM), temperature, pressure, emission and battery voltage. Upon collecting the information pertaining to the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 by the sensing unit 125, the collected information from the sensing unit 125 is transmitted to the controlling unit 130.
[0047] Further, the method 300 includes comparing the information pertaining to the one or more parameters with a predefined threshold by the controlling unit 130. In an embodiment, the predefined threshold is defined by one of the user of the vehicle 100 and the vehicle manufacturer. In an alternate embodiment, the predefined threshold refers to an upper speed limit and a lower speed limit. The lower limit has to be decided by the manufacturer of the system 200 and is one of up to 10% or more below the coasting speed. The lower speed limit corresponds to the minimum speed at which the vehicle 100 may travel, when the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110. In one embodiment, the upper and lower speed limit is determined by at least one of the user interface 135 and the controlling unit 130.
[0048] At step 410, the method 300 includes the step of determining if the information of the one or more parameters is one of greater than and lesser than the predefined threshold by the controlling unit 130. If the information of the one or more parameters is greater than the predefined threshold, the controlling unit 130 is configured to disconnect the prime mover 105 from the transmission unit 110. Then, the prime mover 105 is in the idle state. Further the AC load may be active but the prime mover 105 will operate without any load from the transmission unit 110. Thevehicle 100 is running due to its own momentum without connecting to the prime mover 105 as per step 426 or 422.
[0049] In one embodiment, the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110. On disconnection, the vehicle 100 is adapted to run on its own momentum without any load of the input shaft 115 on the prime mover 105, as shown in step 412. Thereby, advantageously, ensuring improved fuel efficiency of the vehicle 100. Further, due to achieving higher fuel efficiency, the method 300 and the system 200 aid in reducing air pollution.
[0050] In one embodiment, as the vehicle 100 is running on its own momentum, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is adapted to gradually reduce. Accordingly, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is one of equal to and is lesser than the lower speed limit. At step 415, the system 200 determines that the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is one of lesser than the lower speed limit and is equal to the lower speed limit based on the information received from the sensing unit 125.
[0051] Accordingly, at step 420, the method includes reconnecting the transmission unit 110 to the prime mover 105. Upon reconnection of the transmission unit 110 to the prime mover 105, the controlling unit 130 is configured to gradually increase the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 such that the one or more parameters is one of equal to and greater than the predefined threshold. When the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold, again the prime mover 105 is disconnected from the transmission unit 110.
[0052] At step 422, when the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is equal to the upper speed limit, the system 200 is configured to repeat the steps 410 to 420.
[0053] At step 424, in one embodiment, as the vehicle 100 is running on its own momentum along a downward slope, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is greater than the predefined threshold. In an embodiment, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 is controlled by the controlling unit 130 when the controlling unit 130 is configured to receive the second input from the user interface 135. In an embodiment, the second input is at least one of, the brake of the vehicle100. In an alternate embodiment, the second input is at least one of, the switch and the accelerator of the vehicle 100. On receiving the second input from the user interface 135, the one or more parameters of the vehicle 100 gradually increases.
[0054] At step 426, in such a scenario, the method 300 is adapted to control the speed of the vehicle 100 via one of braking and reconnecting the prime mover 105 to the transmission unit 110, and thereby maintain the speed of the vehicle 100 at one of equal to and below the upper speed limit.
[0055] At step 428, In an alternate embodiment, the user interface 135 is configured to provide the second input to deactivate the coasting of the vehicle. In a preferred embodiment, the second input is at least one of, the brake. In an alternate embodiment, the second input is at last one of, the switch and the accelerator of the vehicle 100.
[0056] At step 430, deactivating the coasting of the vehicle 100 based on receiving the second input from the user interface 135.
[0057] Various embodiments disclosed herein are to be taken in the illustrative and explanatory sense and should in no way be construed as limiting of the present disclosure.
[0058] While aspects of the present invention have been particularly shown and described with reference to the embodiments above, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various additional embodiments may be contemplated by the modification of the disclosed machines, systems and methods without departing from the scope of what is disclosed. Such embodiments should be understood to fall within the scope of the present invention as determined based upon the claims and any equivalents thereof.
