Description

RECHARGEABLE COSMETIC CONTAINERFIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The invention relates generally to a rechargeable cosmetic container, and more specifically, to a rechargeable cosmetic container that is capable of being simplified in recharging processes and being easily recharged without contamination.BACKGROUND

[0002] The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art.

[0003] Generally, in order to perform makeup, various types of cosmetics or contents having various functions and states are selected and used according to preference of a user or characteristics of skin.

[0004] Usually, such cosmetics or contents generally have states such as liquid or gel. In particular, liquid or gel contents such as skin, lotion, essence, cream, and eye cream are packaged in various shapes of cosmetic containers.

[0005] One conventional rechargeable cosmetic container is an easily refillable pump-type cosmetic container as disclosed in WO2021060724A1. The easily refillable pump-type cosmetic container comprises: an outer housing which is open at one side thereof; an inner container which is screw-coupled to the outer housing while being inserted through the open portion of the outer housing and in which cosmetic contents are held; arotary part which is formed in the inner container and has a finger insertion groove; a discharge means which is provided inside the outer housing to discharge the cosmetic contents held in the inner container; and a push button which activates the discharge means by applying pressure thereto, wherein the inner container and the discharge means are connected to or disconnected from each other while the inner container is screw-coupled to or decoupled from the outer housing by rotation of the rotary part.

[0006] With respect to the rechargeable cosmetic container as disclosed in  WO2021060724A1, especially referring to FIG. 7, when a consumer recharges the product, the consumer will open service cap 70, and the consumer will be holding bottom cap 60, and then it would be rotated by hand.

[0007] Another rechargeable cosmetic container is a double-walled container as disclosed in WO2021187718A1. The double-walled container may comprise: an inner container in which a content is stored and which has a neck portion formed at the top thereof; an outer housing in which at least a part of the inner container is received; a neck cap which is coupled to the neck portion of the inner container and is at least partially received in the inner container; a pump assembly which is coupled to the top of the outer housing, is detachably coupled to the outer surface of the neck cap, is at least partially received in the neck cap and inserted into the inner container, and discharges the content; and a nozzle part which discharges, through the outlet thereof, the content delivered from the pump assembly as the pump assembly is pressed by a user.

[0008] Similar to the container as disclosed in WO2021060724A1, the double-walled container as disclosed in WO2021187718A1 also requires a sealing cap to seal with the inner container before the inner container is installed to the outer housing. During the recharging, the sealing cap or service cap must be removed from the inner container.

[0009] It may be appreciated that there continues to be a need for a rechargeable cosmetic container in which no separate sealing cap or service cap is needed for sealing the inner container, less components are required, and there is no leakage or less contamination during the recharging process, and in this respect, the present invention substantially fulfills this need.SUMMARY

[0052] In one example, the guiding collar 113 has one or more vertical guiding mechanisms, such as vertical guiding ribs 1131 for guiding the inner container 120, as will be explained below. In one example, the plug bar 114 has one or more pushing bars 1141 for pushing down the plug cap assembly, as will be explained below. In other words, there will be one or more notches 1142 circumferentially located between the pushing bars 1141. In one example, near the pushing bars 1141, the plug bar 114 has a hopper part 1143 for receiving the ball 190. The diameter of the ball 190 is larger than the smallest diameter of the vertical passage 1144 which runs through the hopper part 1143. The bottom end of the pushing bar 1141 is lower than the bottom end of the hopper part 1143. With such arrangement of the plug bar 114, the cosmetics are allowed to flow through the outer housing 110 so as to be discharged after the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 is installed in position.

[0053] FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing the inner container 120 of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. After installation, the outer housing 120 accommodates the inner container 110 in the inside thereof. The inner container 110  includes an accommodation member 121 and a neck 122. The bottom of the inner container 110 is engaged with a bottom cover 160, as will be explained below.

[0054] The accommodation member 121 provides a storage space for the content. As shown, the accommodation member 121 has a long cylindrical shape, but it may not be limited thereto. In this case, the content is a fluid of liquid or gel, which includes a cosmetic, a medicine, and a quasi-drug like tooth paste, but they are just exemplary, so that the content may include all kinds of materials capable of being discharged by means of pumping. A piston 124 may be provided within the accommodation member 121 so as to seal the contents or cosmetics in the volume or storage space enclosed by the piston 124 and the accommodation member 121. As the contents or cosmetics are consumed, the piston 124 will move upwards automatically so as to keep the storage space free of air.

[0055] The neck 122 of the inner container 110 includes one or more axial extending ribs 1221 on the outer peripheral surface thereof as well as a step part 1222 on the inner peripheral surface thereof. The axial extending rib is one example of an axial extending guiding mechanism. During installation of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100, the axial extending ribs 1221 and the guiding ribs 1131 will cooperate with each other to vertically guide the inner container 120 for inserting into the outer housing 110 from the bottom thereof. As those skilled in the art would easily understand, there are many other kinds of guiding mechanisms for guiding the inner container 120 with respect to the outer housing 110. Near the lower end periphery of the accommodation member 121, there are external threads 123 on the outer peripheral surface of the accommodation member 121.

[0056] FIG. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing a plug cap assembly of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5a is a perspective view showing that the plug cap assembly is in the closed position as shown in FIG. 3a, and FIG. 5b is a perspective view showing that the plug cap assembly is in the open  position as shown in FIG. 3b according to one embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5c is a sectional view showing that the plug cap assembly is in the open position as shown in FIG. 5b according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0057] As shown in FIG. 4, the plug cap assembly includes a cap member 130 and a plug member 140. The cap member 130 includes a bottom member 131 and a cap body 132 axially extending from the bottom member 131. The bottom member 131 includes one or more axial through-holes 133. The cap body 132 is a cylinder and one or more windows 134 are formed at the bottom end of the cap body 132. In one example, a dome 135 is extending from the bottom member 131 and it is spaced from the cap body 132. In one example, the bottom member 131 includes a circumferential ridge 136 on the inner peripheral surface thereof, as schematically shown in fig. 2.

[0058] The plug member 140 includes a cylindrical plug 141, a plug flange 143 and one or more axial protrusions 144. In one example, the plug member 140 further includes a step portion 142 so that it may be inserted into the neck 122 of the inner container 120 more easily. The axial protrusion 144 includes a widen part 1441 at the end thereof. In other words, the axial protrusion 144 includes one wedge 1442 on each lateral side thereof. During assembly, the axial protrusions 144 are inserted into the axial through-holes 133, and the wedge 1442 helps for this insertion. After insertion, the widen part 1441 will prevent the cap member 130 from moving away from the plug member 140. After insertion, the cap member 130 may move upwards on the outer peripheral surface of the plug member 140. The circumferential ridge 136 will help to realize an interference fit or transition fit between the cap member 130 and the plug member 140, so that the plug cap assembly may be kept in closed position.

[0059] As shown in FIG. 5a, when the plug cap assembly is in the closed position, the bottom wall portion of the cylindrical plug 141 will block or close the window 134, and thus the window 134 is closed by the plug member 140, and at this time, no content or cosmetics is allowed to flow  through the plug cap assembly. As shown in FIG. 5b, when the plug cap assembly is in the open position, the bottom wall portion of the cylindrical plug 141 will leave the cap member 130 and thus no longer block the window 134, and thus the window 134 is not closed by the plug member 140, and at this time, contents or cosmetics are allowed to flow through the plug cap assembly. As shown in FIG. 5c, when the plug cap assembly is in the open position by the pushing down of the plug bar 114 against the dome 135 which will be explained below, the cap member 130 will move down relative to the plug member 140, and then the window 134 is left open, and the contents or cosmetics are allowed to flow through the window 134, and then through the open space between the axial protrusions 144 to flow out, as shown by the arrows in FIG. 5c.

[0060] During recharging process, firstly the contents or cosmetics are filled in the inner container 120. After the inner container 120 is filled with predetermined quantity of contents or cosmetics, the plug cap assembly will be capped to the neck 122 of the inner container 120, and the plug flange 143 of the plug member 140 will engage with the step part 1222 of the neck 120 of the inner container 120. At this time, the plug cap assembly is kept in the closed position due to the interference fit or transition fit between the cap member 130 and the plug member 140 and thus the inner container 120 is also closed and sealed, and thus no separate or extra sealing cap or service cap is needed for sealing the inner container. Then the inner container 120 is ready for use, and it can also be used for inventory reserve, with contents or cosmetics being filled and sealed therein.

[0061] During installation, the inner container 120 is inserted into the outer housing 110 from the bottom of the outer housing 110, and the guiding mechanisms as explained above may help such insertion. Referring to FIG. 3a, the inner container 120 full of the content is inserted into the open underside of the outer housing 110. Then, the plug bar 114 will contact the plug cap assembly, more specifically speaking, the pushing bars 1141 will contact the cap member 130 (for example, the dome 135 thereof) . Further  insertion of the inner container 120 will lead that the pushing bars 1141 push down the cap member 130, and then the cap member 130 will move down with respect to the plug member 140 as shown in FIG. 5b. At the end of the insertion, as shown in FIG. 3b, the inner container 120 is installed to the outer housing 110, and the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 in the open position in which the cosmetics in an inner container 120 of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 is allowed to be dispensed.

[0062] In one embodiment of the present application, the outer housing 110 is provided with a circumferential groove 115 near the bottom end thereof. The circumferential groove 115 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer housing 110. The circumferential groove 115 is configured to receive one or more circumferential bosses 1531 of the bottom ring 150, so that the bottom ring 150 is constrained by the outer housing 110 in the axial direction, as will be explained below.

[0063] FIG. 8 is a perspective view showing a bottom ring 150 of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one example, the bottom ring 150 includes an outer cylinder 151 and an inner cylinder 152 axially extending from the outer cylinder 151, wherein the inner cylinder 152 is to be inserted into the outer housing 110 from the bottom, and the inner cylinder 152 is positioned between the wall of the outer housing 110 and the wall of the inner container 120 after the installation of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100.

[0064] In one example, the inner cylinder 152 includes one or more elastic wall pieces 153 by cutting through some parts of the inner cylinder 152. In the example as shown in FIG. 8, the elastic wall pieces 153 are formed by cutting out a “n” shape in the inner cylinder 152. The elastic wall pieces 153 is free at the up ends thereof, so that they are elastic. In one example, the elastic wall piece 153 is provided with a circumferential boss 1531 on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and the circumferential boss 1531 is to be received within the circumferential groove 115 of the outer housing 110, so that the bottom ring 150 is constrained by the outer housing 110 in the  axial direction.

[0065] In one example, the outer cylinder 151 is provided with internal threads 154 on the inner peripheral surface thereof. The internal threads 154 are to engage with the external threads 123 on the inner container 120. During installation, the bottom ring 150 is firstly inserted into the outer housing 110, and the circumferential boss 1531 is received within the circumferential groove 115 of the outer housing 110, and thus the bottom ring 150 can only rotate with respect to the outer housing 110, but cannot move axially with respect to the outer housing 110. Then the inner container 120 is inserted into the outer housing 110 by passing through the bottom ring 150. Then the external threads 123 on the inner container 120 will engage with the internal threads 154 on the bottom ring 150, at the same time the inner container 120 is guided by the guiding mechanisms as explained above (i.e., the axial extending ribs 1221 on the neck 122 of the inner container 110 will cooperate with the guiding ribs 1131 to vertically guide the inner container 120) and thus only vertical movement of the inner container 120 is allowed. When rotating the bottom ring 150 in a clockwise direction (i.e., in a “CLOSE” direction as shown by the mark and arrow on the outer cylinder 151 as shown in FIG. 8) , the internal threads 154 on the bottom ring 150 engages with the external threads 123 on the inner container 120 so as to push the inner container 120 upwards, and then the inner container 120 is lifted up to the installation position relating to the outer housing 110. There may be a click sound which may be an auditory feedback to the user that the inner container 120 is already installed to the outer housing 110. Thanks to the structure of the plug cap assembly, when a user assembles the rechargeable cosmetic container by rotation force, it would be “press opening” . In the sense of translating the rotary motion from the bottom ring to linear motion of the inner container, the combination of the bottom ring and the inner container behaves like a ball screw or a lead screw to some extent.

[0066] Regarding an uninstalling process of the rechargeable cosmetic container 100, the user may rotate the bottom ring 150 in a counter- clockwise direction (i.e., in a “OPEN” direction as shown by the mark and arrow on the outer cylinder 151 as shown in FIG. 8) , then the internal threads 154 on the bottom ring 150 engages with the external threads 123 on the inner container 120 so as to pull the inner container 120 downwards. After the internal threads 154 on the bottom ring 150 disengages with the external threads 123 on the inner container 120, the inner container 120 can be pulled out by a force on the exposed parts of the inner container 120. In this way, a new inner container 120 can be installed to outer housing 110, so that the cosmetic container 100 is rechargeable and reusable.

[0067] According to one embodiment of the present application, the discharge unit, and / or the inner container 110, and / or the outer housing 120, and / or the plug cap assembly 130, 140 may be made of Polypropylene (PP) , or Polyethylene (PE) including LDPE and HDPE, or Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) . PP is a greener solution than PVC, PCTA, PETG, ABS or PC because of its reduced emissions and is lighter than other materials.

[0068] Aspects of the present disclosure have been described in detail with reference to the illustrated embodiments; those skilled in the art will recognize, however, that many modifications may be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not limited to the precise construction and compositions disclosed herein; any and all modifications, changes, and variations apparent from the foregoing descriptions are within the scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims. Moreover, the present concepts expressly include any and all combinations and sub combinations of the preceding elements and features.
