Abstract
Description
METHOD FOR REMOTE ASSISTANCE AND DEVICETechnical Field
[0001] The present invention mainly relates to the field of industrial digitization, in particular to a license management method and apparatus for an open industrial system.Background
[0002] Due to a rapid evolution capability of software, a digital technology is being widely used in a manufacturing industry. On the one hand, this software may significantly improve operational efficiency of enterprises, but on the other hand, the enterprises need to pay more usage fees. Repeated or excessive licensing of the software may result in significant waste of resources.
[0003] License management software is one of effective ways for the enterprises to reduce costs, so as to optimize software usage, and avoid losses caused by illegal use. The license management software enables the enterprises to centrally manage all agreements, contracts, licenses, and software catalogs. The current license management software mainly includes three types: the first type is a local type, where installation and use of the software are local, and this type of software limits a type of a device installed, requires manual maintenance, and has no limit on its usage period. The second type is a cloud type, where any network device may download and activate the software from a cloud, maintenance and update of the software are provided by a software supplier, and the software is usually purchased through a subscription mode. The third type is a hybrid type, which combines the local type and the cloud type, and fuses security of the cloud type with stability of the local type, but increases software complexity. The current three types of license management software are developed for two-tier architectures, namely a cloud and a local.
[0004] An open industrial system is a trend of the manufacturing industry, and is a new industrially-control ecosystem. A developer may develop industrial software on this platform. The current open industrial system includes three-tier architectures, namely, a software application market layer, an edge management layer and an edge device layer. The edge management layer and the edge device layer are located locally. The three-tier architectures may provide a flexible, efficient and safe industrial control environment. The current license management software is developed for the two-tier architectures and cannot be applied to the open industrial system with the three-tier architectures.Summary
[0005] In order to solve the above technical problems, the present invention provides a license management method and apparatus for an open industrial system, so as to achieve license management of the open industrial system.
[0006] To achieve the above objective, the present invention provides a license management method for an open industrial system, the open industrial system includes a cloud, an industrial edge management device and an industrial edge device, and the method includes: downloading a software package and corresponding license information from the cloud on the industrial edge management device; deploying the software package to at least one industrial edge device managed by the industrial edge management device; and checking, in response to a request to start a software application in the software package deployed in the industrial edge device, validity of a license in the industrial edge management device, and starting the software application in the industrial edge device if the license is checked to be valid. [0069] Step 110, a software package and corresponding license information are downloaded from the cloud on the industrial edge management device.
[0070] A large number of software packages and software license information that may provide various functions are stored in the cloud. A supplier or a certified third-party developer may upload the software packages and the license information to the cloud. The cloud may provide the supplier or the developer with functions such as creating, deleting, retrieving, and updating. The license information is encrypted through an encryption algorithm, such as an AES256 encryption algorithm combined with a private symmetry encryption algorithm, to ensure the security of the license information. The industrial edge management device may establish a connection with the cloud through Internet, and download the software package and the corresponding license information from the cloud through the established connection.
[0071] As shown in FIG. 2, the cloud 21 includes a first management unit 211, a software package storage unit 212, a license management unit 213, a license storage unit 214, and a first application program interface 215. The first management unit 211 is used for performing management, such as permission management, on the industrial edge management device 22. The software package storage unit 212 is used for storing the software packages that execute various functions, such as DataService, MES, and APS. The second management unit 221 is used for managing the industrial edge devices 23 and 24. The license control unit 222 is used for controlling the use of the license. The file storage unit 223 is used for storing the software package and the license information. The second application program interface 224 is used for providing API, and the developer may call the API for secondary development. The industrial edge management device 22 downloads the software package and the corresponding license information from the cloud 21 and stores the same in the file storage unit 223.
[0073] In some embodiments, the downloading the software package and the corresponding license information from the cloud on the industrial edge management device includes: checking subscribe information of the industrial edge management device on the cloud, and downloading, when it is determined that the subscribe information of the industrial edge management device is valid, the software package and the corresponding license information from the cloud on the industrial edge management device. To this end, the industrial edge management device is verified on the cloud to avoid connection of a non-registered device and improve system security.
[0074] As a non-restrictive example, FIG. 3 is a timing diagram of a downloading process in a license management method according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 3, the downloading process includes:
[0075] step 301, a software developer 25 prepares a software package and a license requirement;

[0077] step 303, the software developer 25 calls a first application program interface 215;
[0078] step 304, the software package is uploaded to a software package storage unit 212;
[0079] step 305, the license requirement is loaded to a license management unit 213;
[0080] step 306, the license management unit 213 converts the license requirement into standard license information;
[0081] step 307, the license management unit 213 saves the license information to the license storage unit 214;
[0082] step 308, a software user 26 triggers the download of the software package;
[0083] step 309, the software user 26 registers and purchases a software application license;
[0084] step 310, the software developer 25 calls the first application program interface 215;

[0097] step 323, the download request is rejected.
[0098] Step 120, the software package is deployed to at least one industrial edge device managed by the industrial edge management device.
[0099] After downloading the software package, the industrial edge management device deploys the software package to the at least one managed industrial edge device. The deployment of the software package does not need to check the license information. The industrial edge management device directly sends the software package to the industrial edge device, and the industrial edge device installs the software package in an environment to generate the software application. For example, the industrial edge management device sends a software package of DataService into the industrial edge device, and the industrial edge device deploys and installs the software application of DataService on local hardware, which may run after license checking.
[0100] As a non-restrictive example, FIG. 4 is a timing diagram of deploying and starting processes in a license management method according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 4, the deploying and starting processes include:
[0101] step 401, a software user 26 triggers the deployment of a software package;
[0102] step 402, the software user 26 sends a request to a second management unit 221;
[0103] step 403, the second management unit 221 captures the software package from a file storage unit 223;
[0104] step 404, the software package is deployed to an industrial edge device 23;
[0105] step 405, an App management unit 234 installs the software package;
[0106] step 406: an installation result is returned;

[0109] step 409, the software user 26 sends a request to a second management unit 221;
[0110] step 410, the second management unit 221 requests the App management unit 234 to start the software;
[0111] step 411, the App management unit 234 requests to check validity of a license;
[0112] step 412, the license information is captured;
[0113] step 413, the license information is returned;
[0114] step 414, the license is decrypted and checked;
[0115] step 415, a license validity result is returned, if it is valid, step S416 is performed, otherwise step 420 is performed;
[0116] step 416, the software application is started;
[0117] step 417, the license information is requested to be updated;
[0118] step 418, a valid result is returned;
[0119] step 419, the valid result is displayed;
[0120] step 420, an invalid result is returned; and
[0121] step 421, the invalid result is displayed.
[0122] Step 130, in response to a request to start the software application in the software package deployed in the industrial edge device, the validity of the license is checked in the industrial edge management device, and the software application is started in the industrial edge device if the license is checked to be valid.
[0123] Operation and maintenance personnel inputs the request to start the software application in the industrial edge device through a man-machine interface in the industrial edge management device, and the industrial edge device requests the industrial edge management device to check the validity of the license. If the license is checked to be valid, the software application is started in the industrial edge device, otherwise the software application fails to start in the industrial edge device. The industrial edge device requests to check the validity of the license, which may be to check whether the license is a fixed license or a floating license.
[0124] The following table is an example of the license information of the software application DataService. As shown in the following table, the license information includes a software application, a license key, expired time, a total valid count, an available valid count, a floating license, an industrial edge device hardware identification list and a status.
[0125] In some embodiments, the checking the validity of the license in the industrial edge management device includes: acquiring the total count of the licenses and an industrial edge device hardware identification list, binding the license to industrial edge device hardware identification, and determining that the license is valid when the available valid count of the license is provided. This mode is a fixed license mode. For the fixed license mode, the license is bound to hardware identification of the industrial edge device, that is, the license cannot be bound to other industrial edge devices after being bound to the industrial edge device. For example, for the license information of DataService, the available valid count of the licenses is 2, and it may be determined that the license is valid at this time. To this end, through the fixed license mode, a process of license checking may be simplified, and efficiency of license checking may be improved.
[0126] In some embodiments, the checking the validity of the license in the industrial edge management device includes: acquiring the total count of the licenses and the number of industrial edge devices with the licenses installed, and determining that the license is valid when the number of the industrial edge devices with the licenses installed is not greater than the total count of the licenses. This mode is a floating license mode. For the floating license mode, the license is not bound to the hardware identification of the industrial edge device, that is, after being bound to the industrial edge device, the license may be released and then bound to other industrial edge devices, and as long as the number of the industrial edge devices with the licenses installed is not greater than the total count of the licenses, the license may be allocated to the industrial edge device. For example, the license information of DataService is licensed in the floating license mode, and four industrial edge device may be licensed at the same time. Therefore, through the floating license mode, the license may be shared among the industrial edge devices to improve flexibility of license checking.
[0127] In some embodiments, the method further includes: acquiring a heartbeat signal of running the software application on the industrial edge device on the industrial edge management device, and stopping, when an interval of the heartbeat signal is greater than a preset interval, running of the software application and releasing the license of the software application, or restoring the software application. To this end, through the heartbeat signal and the preset interval, the software application can be maintained to be run for a period of time, so as to avoid losses caused by stop of the software application, and improve system reliability.
[0128] As a non-restrictive example, FIG. 5 is a timing diagram of a running process in a license management method according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5, the running process includes:
[0129] step 501, a running status of a software application is checked;
[0130] step 502, a result is returned;
[0131] step 503, a software application status is periodically maintained;
[0132] step 504, a license status of the software application is maintained by using a heartbeat signal;
[0133] step 505, a processing algorithm of the heartbeat signal is processed (S1 is a heartbeat timeout algorithm, including steps 507-510; and S2 is a heartbeat timeout recovery algorithm, including steps 511-515) ;
[0134] step 506, the license information is updated and saved;
[0135] step 507, the software application is allowed to continue running within a preset interval time;
[0136] step 508, if there is no heartbeat signal, the preset interval is waited;
[0137] step 509, running of the software application is stopped;
[0138] step 510, a software application license is released;
[0139] step 511, the software application is allowed to continue running within the preset interval time;
[0140] step 512, if there is no heartbeat signal, the preset interval is waited;
[0141] step 513, heartbeat recovery processing is performed on the software application;
[0142] step 514, a heartbeat recovery processing algorithm is executed; and
[0143] step 515, the software application license is updated.
[0144] An embodiment of the present invention provides a license management method for an open industrial system. By downloading a software package and license information on an industrial edge management device, and checking validity of a license when an industrial edge device needs to start a software application, flexible security management of the license in the open industrial system is achieved.
[0145] The present invention further provides a license management apparatus for an open industrial system.
