Description

RIS communication method, device, equipment and storage medium Technical Field

[0001] The present application relates to the field of communication technology, and in particular to a communication method, apparatus, device, and storage medium of a RIS. Background Art

[0002] As a key enabling technology for expanding the coverage of wireless communication networks, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) can be applied in some communication systems, such as the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system.

[0003] Currently, each array in a RIS uses its own phase shifter for phase adjustment. Each array's phase shifters are made of the same material, and the material determines the RIS array's phase adjustment capability. Using phase shifters with high phase adjustment capabilities results in higher costs, while using phase shifters with low phase adjustment capabilities results in higher beam sidelobe energy, reducing communication quality. Therefore, balancing cost and quality in RIS communication is a pressing issue.

[0004] Summary of the Invention

[0005] The embodiments of the present application provide a RIS communication method, apparatus, device, and storage medium to achieve a balance between cost and communication quality in RIS communication.

[0006] First, embodiments of the present application provide a RIS communication method. The method may be performed by a RIS or a component of a RIS, such as a chip, a chip system, or other functional modules capable of calling and executing programs. For ease of understanding, the following exemplary description uses the RIS as the execution entity.

[0007] The method includes: a RIS determining a data transmission time offset, the data transmission time offset being greater than or equal to a first phase adjustment time, the first phase adjustment time being determined based on M phase adjustment times corresponding to M elements of the RIS, where M is an integer greater than 1, the M elements including at least one first element and at least one second element, the first element having different phase adjustment capabilities than the second element; and processing data transmissions through the M elements according to the data transmission time offset. Data transmissions are processed through elements of the RIS with different phase adjustment capabilities, such as the at least one first element and the at least one second element, to achieve a balance between cost and communication quality within the RIS. Furthermore, the RIS determines that the data transmission time offset used during data transmission processing is greater than the first phase adjustment time, so that the data transmission time offset is larger, allowing elements with different phase adjustment capabilities to perform phase adjustment and other processing within the data transmission time offset, thereby achieving mixed-phase RIS processing of data transmissions.

[0008] The first phase adjustment time can be determined based on the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M arrays of the RIS, so as to ensure that arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities can perform phase adjustment and other processing within the data transmission time offset.

[0009] In one possible implementation, the RIS determines the data transmission time offset in the following two ways: In the first approach, the RIS receives first indication information indicating the data transmission time offset, allowing for flexible configuration of the data transmission time offset. In the second approach, the RIS determines the longest phase adjustment time among M phase adjustment times as the first phase adjustment time, and determines the data transmission time offset based on the first phase adjustment time. This approach reduces signaling overhead.

[0010] In one possible implementation, the first indication information is used to indicate L resource lists, and the data transmission time offset corresponding to the resources in the L resource lists is the data transmission time offset. In this case, the indication of the data transmission time offset can be implemented by multiplexing the information indicating the L resource lists, saving resource overhead.

[0011] In one possible implementation, the RIS further includes receiving second indication information and third indication information, the second indication information including information indicating at least one weight corresponding to each of the at least one first array, and the third indication information including information indicating at least one weight corresponding to each of the at least one second array; and processing the data transmission through the M arrays includes processing the data transmission through the M arrays based on the at least one weight corresponding to each of the at least one first array and the at least one weight corresponding to each of the at least one second array. By indicating the weight of the at least one first array through the second indication information and providing separate indications for arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities, flexible design of the indication information is achieved.

[0012] Optionally, the second indication information includes information indicating a timing of at least one weight value corresponding to the at least one first phase; and / or the third indication information includes information indicating a timing of at least one weight value corresponding to the at least one second phase.

[0013] In one possible implementation, the second indication information indicates a first resource among N resources, where N is a positive integer. The first resource includes information about at least one weight and corresponding timing corresponding to each of the at least one first period. Selecting the first resource corresponding to the first period from the multiple resources increases the selectivity of data transmission processing, thereby improving the performance of the RIS.

[0014] In one possible implementation, the RIS further includes receiving fourth indication information, the fourth indication information being used to indicate at least one resource list among the L resource lists, where L is a positive integer, and the at least one resource list includes the N resources. The N resources are determined from the resource list to increase selectivity of RIS data transmission processing and improve RIS performance.

[0015] In one possible implementation, the second indication information is used to indicate information about at least one weight corresponding to the at least one first asymptote in a first codebook. The first codebook is used to represent weights that can be used by the first asymptote during data transmission. Indicating asymptote weights using a codebook reduces signaling overhead.

[0016] Optionally, the second indication information indicates information of at least one weight corresponding to the at least one first period through a weight index in the first codebook.

[0017] In one possible implementation, the third indication information is used to indicate a second resource among P resources, where P is a positive integer. The second resource includes information about at least one weight and corresponding timing corresponding to the at least one second array. Selecting the second resource corresponding to the second array from the plurality of resources increases the selectivity of data transmission processing, thereby improving the performance of the RIS.

[0018] In one possible implementation, the method further includes receiving fifth indication information, the fifth indication information being used to indicate at least one resource list among the Q resource lists, where Q is a positive integer, and the at least one resource list includes the P resources. The P resources are determined from the resource list to increase selectivity of RIS data transmission processing and improve RIS performance.

[0019] In one possible implementation, the third indication information is used to indicate information about at least one weight corresponding to the at least one second axle from a second codebook. The second codebook is used to represent weights that can be used by the second axle during data transmission. Indicating axle weights using the codebook reduces signaling overhead.

[0020] Optionally, the third indication information indicates information of at least one weight corresponding to the at least one second element through a weight index in the second codebook.

[0021] In one possible implementation, the M arrays further include at least one third array, which is an array without an assigned weight. The third array is in an off state, or the weight of the third array is the weight used in the last data transmission process. This eliminates the need for phase shifters and phase control, further reducing power consumption and costs.

[0022] In a possible implementation, the method further includes: the RIS receiving sixth indication information, the sixth indication information being used to indicate whether the third array is in a closed state, so as to achieve flexible control of the array whose position is a weighted value.

[0023] In one possible implementation, the method further includes: the RIS sending seventh indication information, the seventh indication information being used to indicate the data transmission time offset. The RIS may synchronize the data transmission time offset with the communication device via the seventh indication information, so that the communication device performs data transmission based on the data transmission time offset, thereby improving RIS performance.

[0024] In a possible implementation manner, the method further includes: the RIS sending eighth indication information, where the eighth indication information includes at least one of the following:

[0025] The phase adjustment time of the first period;

[0026] The phase adjustment time of the second period;

[0027] The phase adjustment accuracy of this first period;

[0029] The position of the first period in the RIS;

[0030] the position of the second period in the RIS;

[0031] a first codebook for indicating weights of the first period;

[0032] A second codebook is used to indicate the weights of the second period.

[0033] The RIS reports its own parameters by sending the eighth indication information, so that the communication device can transmit data based on the relevant parameters of the RIS, thereby improving the performance of the RIS.

[0091] The technical solution in this application will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0092] FIG1 is a schematic diagram of a communication system of a RIS provided in an embodiment of the present application. As shown in FIG1 , the communication system 100 may include at least one network device and at least one terminal device, such as the network device 110 and terminal devices 121 to 124 shown in FIG1 . The network device 110 and each terminal device (such as 121 to 124) may communicate via a wireless air interface. The terminal devices may communicate with each other via wireless communication technology. For example, the terminal device 121 and the terminal device 123 shown in FIG1 may communicate with each other, and the terminal device 122 and the terminal device 124 may also communicate with each other.

[0093] 1 , the communication system 110 may further include RISs 131 and 132. RISs may be deployed on large surfaces, such as indoor walls or ceilings, or outdoor buildings or signs, to reflect radio frequency (RF) energy around obstacles and create a virtual line of sight (LoS) propagation path between a communication source and a destination. For example, RIS 131 in FIG1 may be used to reflect RF energy between the network device 110 and the terminal device 121, and RIS 132 may be used to reflect RF energy between the terminal devices 122 and 124.

[0094] It should be noted that when RIS is used to reflect RF energy between network equipment and terminal equipment, it can act on both uplink and downlink transmissions; when RIS is used to reflect RF energy between terminal equipment, it can act on sideways transmissions.

[0095] It should also be understood that the above description only uses the RIS reflecting RF energy as an example, but the present application does not limit the way in which the RIS processes data transmission. For example, the RIS can also process data transmission by refraction or transmission.

[0096] As shown in Figure 1, the RIS consists of multiple arrays, each of which features a phase shifter that adjusts phase during data transmission. It should be noted that phase shifters can be made from a variety of materials, such as RF microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), diodes, varactors, liquid crystals, and ferroelectrics. Phase shifters made from different materials have varying phase adjustment capabilities. For example, the power consumption, phase adjustment time (or speed), and accuracy of the phase shifter are affected by the material. The phase adjustment time and accuracy of the phase shifter are particularly important for beam design and timing. The phase adjustment capability of the arrays in the RIS depends on their phase adjustment capability. Using phase shifters with higher phase adjustment capabilities for each array in the RIS results in higher costs. Using phase shifters with lower phase adjustment capabilities results in higher sidelobe energy, which can cause additional interference to other users and reduce the quality of the communication system.

[0097] To facilitate understanding of the embodiments of the present application, the beam is first explained. Beamforming technology refers to adjusting the amplitude and / or phase of the signal so that the radiated signal radiated by the antenna array has a certain directionality, which can achieve a higher antenna array gain. Among them, the main lobe of the radiation pattern of the antenna array can be called a beam. The signal is filtered by a spatial domain transmission filter to achieve amplitude and / or phase adjustment. Different spatial domain transmission filters use different spatial domain filtering parameters to achieve beams in different directions. In an embodiment of the present application, the spatial domain filtering parameter can be replaced by a beam, or the spatial domain filtering parameter can be replaced by a spatial domain transmission filter. The spatial domain transmission filter can also be called a spatial filter.

[0098] To balance cost and communication quality, this application proposes a hybrid-phase RIS, in which multiple arrays within the RIS are equipped with phase shifters with varying phase adjustment capabilities. In this case, how to indicate RIS-related information to enable RIS-based communication is the primary issue addressed by this application.

[0099] As shown in Figure 2a, some arrays of the RIS (e.g., the first array) require a 2-bit phase shifter for phase adjustment, while others (e.g., the second array) require only a 1-bit phase shifter. However, when the RIS is performing data transmission, the RIS weights for these two arrays, or the RIS codebook design, should be different. Therefore, the weights for the first and second arrays can be specified separately.

[0100] Referring to FIG2b , in some scenarios, such as the application scenario of a hybrid reflective reconfigurable intelligent surface (HR-RIS), a third array in an off state is also included. In this case, the first array and the second array can be indicated separately. The third array in the off state does not need to be configured with a phase shifter or perform phase control, further reducing power consumption and cost.

[0101] It should be understood that Figures 2a and 2b illustrate only two arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities, but this application is not limited to this. For example, the RIS may also include arrays with three or more phase adjustment capabilities. Furthermore, this application is not limited to the RIS employing a 1-bit phase shifter in the first array and a 2-bit phase shifter in the second array. For example, the first array may employ a 2-bit phase shifter and the second array may employ a 1-bit phase shifter, or the 2-bit phase shifter in the second array may be replaced with a higher-bit phase shifter, i.e., a higher-precision phase shifter.

[0102] Referring to Figure 2c, in a mixed-phase RIS, the phase adjustment speeds of the phase shifters of the first and second arrays, which have different phase adjustment capabilities, are different, meaning that the beam takes effect with a certain delay. Therefore, the time slots in which the mixed-phase beam takes effect are shown in Figure 2c. Here, C2 is the codebook or weight corresponding to the first array, and C1 is the codebook or weight corresponding to the second array. Data transmission time offset (offset) 1 is the phase adjustment time of the phase shifter of the second array, and offset 2 is the phase adjustment time of the phase shifter of the first array. It can be seen that RIS arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities require different phase adjustment times, and it is necessary to determine the data transmission time offset when communicating based on the RIS. Based on this, the embodiments of the present application consider determining the data transmission time based on the phase adjustment time of each array of the RIS.

[0103] The communication method provided in this application can be applied to various communication systems, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, 5G mobile communication systems, and sixth generation (6G) mobile communication systems that have evolved after 5G. The 5G mobile communication system or the 6G mobile communication system may include non-standalone (NSA) and / or standalone (SA) networking.

[0104] The communication method provided in this application can also be applied to machine type communication (MTC), long term evolution technology for machine-to-machine communication (LTE-M), device-to-device (D2D) networks, machine-to-machine (M2M) networks, Internet of Things (IoT) networks or other networks.

[0105] In the embodiment of the present application, the network device can be any device with wireless transceiver function. The network device includes, but is not limited to, an evolved Node B (eNB), a radio network controller (RNC), a Node B (NB), a home base station (e.g., a home evolved NodeB, or a home Node B, HNB), a baseband unit (BBU), an access point (AP) in a wireless fidelity (WiFi) system, a wireless relay node, a wireless backhaul node, a transmission point (TP), or a transmission and reception point (TRP). It may also be a mobile switching center and a device that performs base station functions in device-to-device (D2D), vehicle-to-everything (V2X), and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. It may also be a gNB in a 5G system, one or a group of antenna panels (including multiple antenna panels) of a base station in a 5G system, or a network node constituting a gNB or a transmission point, such as a BBU, or a distributed unit (DBU). unit, DU), etc., which is not specifically limited in the embodiments of the present application.

[0106] In some deployments, the gNB may include a centralized unit (CU) and a DU. The gNB may also include an active antenna unit (AAU). The CU and DU each implement portions of the gNB's functionality, and the CU and DU can communicate over the F1 interface. The AAU implements some physical layer processing, RF processing, and active antenna-related functions.

[0107] It is understood that the network device may include one or more of a CU node, a DU node, and an AAU node. In addition, the CU may be classified as a network device in an access network (RAN) or a network device in a core network (CN), which is not limited in this application.

[0108] In an embodiment of the present application, the terminal device may also be referred to as user equipment (UE), access terminal, user unit, user station, mobile station, mobile station, remote station, remote terminal, mobile device, user terminal, terminal, wireless communication device, user agent or user device.

[0109] The terminal device may be a device that provides voice / data connectivity to users, such as a handheld device or vehicle-mounted device with wireless connection function. At present, some examples of terminals may include: mobile phones, tablet computers, computers with wireless transceiver functions (such as laptops, PDAs, etc.), customer-premises equipment (CPE), smart point of sale (POS) machines, mobile internet devices (MID), virtual reality (VR) devices, augmented reality (AR) devices, wireless terminals in industrial control, wireless terminals in self-driving, wireless terminals in remote medical, wireless terminals in smart grids, wireless terminals in transportation safety, wireless terminals in smart cities, wireless terminals in smart homes, cellular phones, cordless phones, session initiation protocol (SIP) phones, wireless local loop (WLL) stations, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and so on. assistant, PDA), handheld devices with wireless communication capabilities, computing devices or other processing devices connected to a wireless modem, vehicle-mounted devices, wearable devices, terminal devices in a 5G network or terminal devices in a system evolved after 5G, etc.

[0110] It should be understood that this application does not limit the specific forms of network devices and terminal devices.

[0111] To facilitate understanding of the embodiments of the present application, the following explanations are made:

[0112] First, in the embodiments shown below, the first, second, third, and various numerical numbers are merely used for ease of description and are not intended to limit the scope of the embodiments of the present application. For example, different phase adjustment times, indication information, arrays, etc. are used to distinguish different phase adjustment times, indication information, arrays, etc.

[0113] Second, “predefinition” can be achieved by pre-saving corresponding codes, tables or other methods that can be used to indicate relevant information in devices (for example, including terminal devices and network devices). This application does not limit its specific implementation method.

[0114] "Pre-configuration" can be achieved by pre-saving corresponding codes, tables or other methods that can be used to indicate relevant information in devices (for example, including terminal devices and network devices), or by signaling pre-configuration, such as network devices being implemented through signaling pre-configuration, etc. This application does not limit its specific implementation method.

[0115] Third, the "protocol" involved in the embodiments of the present application may refer to a standard protocol in the field of communications, for example, it may include an LTE protocol, a New Radio (NR) protocol, a WiFi protocol, and related protocols used in communication systems evolved after 5G. This application does not limit this.

[0116] Fourth, the “data transmission” mentioned in the embodiments of the present application can be replaced by “data communication”, including data sending and / or data receiving.

[0117] Fifth, the "sending" and "receiving" in the embodiments of the present application indicate the direction of signal transmission. For example, "sending information to XX" can be understood as the destination of the information being XX, which can include direct sending through the air interface, and indirect sending through the air interface by other units or modules. "Receiving information from YY" can be understood as the source of the information being YY, which can include direct receiving from YY through the air interface, and indirect receiving from YY through the air interface from other units or modules. "Sending" can also be understood as the "output" of the chip interface, and "receiving" can also be understood as the "input" of the chip interface.

[0118] In other words, sending and receiving can be performed between devices, for example, between network devices, RIS and terminal devices, or can be performed within a device, for example, sending or receiving between components, modules, chips, software modules or hardware modules within the device through buses, traces or interfaces.

[0119] It is understandable that information may be processed between the source and destination of information transmission, such as coding, modulation, etc., but the destination can understand the valid information from the source. Similar expressions in this application can be understood similarly and will not be repeated.

[0120] Sixth, in the embodiments of the present application, "indication" may include direct indication and indirect indication, and may also include explicit indication and implicit indication. The information indicated by a certain information (such as the indication information described below) is called information to be indicated. In the specific implementation process, there are many ways to indicate the information to be indicated, such as but not limited to, directly indicating the information to be indicated, such as the information to be indicated itself or the index of the information to be indicated. The information to be indicated may also be indirectly indicated by indicating other information, wherein the other information and the information to be indicated have an association relationship; it may also be possible to indicate only a part of the information to be indicated, while the other parts of the information to be indicated are known or agreed in advance, for example, the order of arrangement of each information agreed in advance (such as predefined by the protocol) can be used to implement the indication of specific information, thereby reducing the indication overhead to a certain extent. The present application does not limit the specific method of indication. It is understandable that, for the sender of the indication information, the indication information can be used to indicate the information to be indicated, and for the receiver of the indication information, the indication information can be used to determine the information to be indicated.

[0121] The communication method provided in the embodiments of the present application will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0122] It should be understood that the following description is only for ease of understanding and explanation, and in some embodiments, the description is based on a RIS as the execution entity. The RIS may be, for example, the RIS 131 or 132 in FIG1 .

[0123] In other embodiments, the interaction between a first communication device and a RIS is described as an example. The first communication device may be a network device, such as network device 110 in FIG. 1 , and the RIS may be, for example, RIS 131 in FIG. 1 ; or the first communication device may be a terminal device, such as terminal device 122 or 124 in FIG. 1 , and the RIS may be, for example, RIS 132 in FIG. 1 .

[0124] In some other embodiments, the interaction between a first communication device and a second communication device is used as an example for description. The first communication device may be a network device, and the second communication device may be a terminal device, or the first communication device may be a terminal device, and the second communication device may be a network device, for example, the network device is the network device 110 in FIG. 1 , and the terminal device is the terminal device 121 in FIG. 1 ; or both the first communication device and the second communication device may be terminal devices, for example, the first communication device is the terminal device 122 in FIG. 1 , and the second communication device is the terminal device 124 in FIG. 1 , or for another example, the first communication device is the terminal device 124 in FIG. 1 , and the second communication device is the terminal device 122 in FIG. 1 .

[0125] However, it should be understood that this does not constitute any limitation on the execution subject of the method provided in this application. As long as it is possible to execute the method provided in accordance with the embodiment of the present application by running a program that records the code of the method provided in the embodiment of the present application, it can serve as the execution subject of the method provided in the embodiment of the present application. For example, the first communication device shown in the embodiment below can also be replaced by a component in the first communication device, such as a chip, a chip system or other functional module that can call a program and execute a program. The second communication device can also be replaced by a component in the second communication device, such as a chip, a chip system or other functional module that can call a program and execute a program. The RIS can also be replaced by a component in the RIS, such as a chip, a chip system or other functional module that can call a program and execute a program.

[0126] FIG3 is an interactive flow chart of a RIS communication method 200 provided in an embodiment of the present application. As shown in FIG3 , the method 200 may include S210 and S220. Each step in the method 200 is described below.

[0127] S210: The RIS determines a data transmission time offset, where the data transmission time offset is greater than or equal to a first phase adjustment time. The first phase adjustment time is determined based on M phase adjustment times corresponding to M arrays of the RIS, where M is an integer greater than 1. The M arrays include at least one first array and at least one second array. The first array and the second array have different phase adjustment capabilities.

[0128] S220 , the RIS processes the data transmission according to the data transmission time offset through M phases.

[0129] It should be noted that, in addition to the first and second arrays having different phase adjustment capabilities, the M arrays may also include other arrays having different phase adjustment capabilities from the first and second arrays. For ease of understanding, the embodiment of the present application only takes two arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities as an example for illustration.

[0130] As previously mentioned, for arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities, the RIS beams take effect in different time slots, meaning that the data transmission time offsets between beams are different. In this case, the data transmission time offset is greater than or equal to a first phase adjustment time determined based on the M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M arrays. This ensures a large data transmission time offset, allowing arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities to perform phase adjustment and other processing within the data transmission time offset, thereby achieving mixed-phase RIS data transmission processing.

[0131] Exemplarily, the first phase time may be the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M arrays; or the first phase time may be determined based on the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M arrays, for example, the first phase time is the sum or product of the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times and a first value, the first value may be a preset value, or the first value may be the data response (or processing) time of the RIS, etc.

[0132] In addition, the first phase time may be calculated based on the M phase adjustment times. For example, the first phase time may be the mean, variance, etc. of the M phase adjustment times.

[0133] Furthermore, the RIS may process data transmission through M arrays according to the data transmission time offset. For example, the RIS determines the time domain position of the data transmission based on the transmission time offset, and then processes the data transmission through the M arrays at the determined time domain position.

[0134] The hybrid-phase RIS communication solution provided in embodiments of the present application utilizes arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities within the RIS, such as at least one first array and at least one second array, to perform data transmission processing, thereby achieving a balance between cost and communication quality within the RIS. Furthermore, the RIS determines that a data transmission time offset employed during data transmission processing is greater than a first phase adjustment time, and the first phase adjustment time is determined based on the M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M arrays of the RIS, such that the data transmission time offset is larger. Arrays with different phase adjustment capabilities can perform phase adjustment and other processing within the data transmission time offset, thereby achieving hybrid-phase RIS data transmission processing.

[0135] In a first embodiment, the data transmission time offset may be determined by the RIS based on M phase adjustment times corresponding to its M arrays. For example, the RIS determines the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times as the first phase adjustment time, and then determines the first phase adjustment time as the data transmission time offset. Alternatively, the RIS determines a time offset greater than the first phase adjustment time based on the first phase adjustment time, for example, by determining the data transmission time offset as the sum or product of the first phase adjustment time and a second value. The second value may be a preset value or the second value is related to the data response (or processing) time of the RIS. In a second embodiment, the data transmission time offset may be indicated by the first communication device. The second embodiment may be illustrated in conjunction with FIG4 below.

[0136] In the first embodiment described above, after determining the data transmission time offset, the RIS may indicate the data transmission time offset to the first communication device and / or the second communication device. For example, the RIS may send seventh indication information to the first communication device, where the seventh indication information is used to indicate the data transmission time offset.

[0137] In some embodiments, the RIS may send an indication message to the first communication device to report the parameter. For example, the RIS sends eighth indication message to the first communication device, where the eighth indication message includes at least one of the following:

[0138] The phase adjustment time for the first period;

[0139] Phase adjustment time for the second period;

[0140] Phase adjustment accuracy for the first period;

[0141] Phase adjustment accuracy of the second period;

[0142] The position in RIS for the first period;

[0143] The second period of position in RIS;

[0144] A first codebook for indicating weights of a first period;

[0145] A second codebook for indicating weights of a second period.

[0146] It should be noted that if the M arrays include arrays having different phase adjustment capabilities from the first and second arrays, the eighth indication information may include the phase adjustment time of each array, the phase adjustment accuracy, the position in the RIS, a codebook for indicating the weight of each array, and the like.

[0147] The phase adjustment time and phase adjustment accuracy of the array (including the first array and the second array) can be used by communication devices in the system (such as the first communication device and / or the second communication device) to determine the data transmission time offset; the position of the array (including the first array and the second array) in the RIS can be used by the communication device to control phase adjustment; and the codebook indicating the array (including the first array and the second array) (such as the first codebook corresponding to the first array and the second codebook corresponding to the second array) can be used by the communication device to indicate the weight of the array (including the first array and the second array). Part of the information in the eighth indication information can be configured by the communication device to achieve synchronization. For example, the first communication device can configure the RIS with a first codebook for indicating the weight of the first array and / or a second codebook for indicating the weight of the second array.

[0148] It should also be understood that some or all of the parameters in the eighth indication information may be agreed upon by protocol. For example, to save signaling overhead, the positions of a larger number of arrays in the RIS may be agreed upon by protocol. For example, assuming that there are a larger number of second arrays with lower phase adjustment capabilities and a smaller number of first arrays with higher phase adjustment capabilities, the positions of the second arrays in the RIS may be agreed upon by protocol, while the positions of the first arrays in the RIS may be indicated by the eighth indication information.

[0149] Similar to the RIS, the first communication device may also determine a data transmission time offset. Exemplarily, the first communication device may determine the data transmission time offset based on M phase adjustment times corresponding to the M phases of the RIS. For example, the first communication device may determine the longest phase adjustment time among the M phase adjustment times as the first phase adjustment time, and further determine the first phase adjustment time as the data transmission time offset. Alternatively, the first communication device may determine a data transmission time offset greater than the first phase adjustment time based on the first phase adjustment time, for example, by determining the data transmission time offset as the sum or product of the first phase adjustment time and a second value. The second value may be a preset value or may be related to the data response (or processing) time of the RIS.

[0150] In this case, the first communications device may obtain the first phase adjustment time and / or the M phase adjustment times, and then determine the data transmission time offset based on the obtained adjustment times. For example, the first communications device receives the ninth indication information reported by the RIS, where the ninth indication information is used to indicate the first phase adjustment time and / or the M phase adjustment times. It is understandable that when the RIS indicates the phase adjustment time of an array (such as the first array and / or the second array) to the first communications device via the eighth indication information, the ninth indication information may not repeatedly indicate the phase adjustment time of the array.

[0151] Furthermore, the first communication device may perform data transmission according to the data transmission time offset, for example, the first communication device transmits uplink data or downlink data based on the data transmission time offset.

[0152] 4 is a schematic diagram of an interaction flow of a RIS communication method 300 provided in an embodiment of the present application. The method 300 may include part or all of the processes from S310 to S340.

[0153] The second embodiment described above can be referred to S310 - 1 and S320 - 1 in FIG. 4 .

[0154] S310-1, the first communication device sends first indication information to the RIS, and accordingly, the RIS receives the first indication information sent by the first communication device;

[0155] S310-2, the first communication device sends first indication information to the second communication device, and correspondingly, the second communication device receives the first indication information sent by the first communication device.

[0156] As mentioned above, the data transmission time offset is greater than or equal to the first phase adjustment time. The first phase adjustment time has been explained in the above example and will not be repeated for the sake of brevity.

[0157] The first communication device may send first indication information to the RIS to indicate the data transmission time offset. Of course, this embodiment of the application does not exclude the possibility that the first indication information indicates a first phase adjustment time. In this case, the RIS may determine the data transmission time offset based on the first phase adjustment time indicated by the first communication device.

[0158] Exemplarily, the first indication information may further indicate L resource lists, where L is a positive integer, and the data transmission time offset corresponding to the resources in the L resource lists is the data transmission time offset. In this case, the first communications device may implement the indication of the data transmission time offset by multiplexing information indicating the L resource lists. The L resource lists will be described below.

[0159] Exemplarily, the first communication device may receive the data transmission time offset sent by the RIS. Exemplarily, the first communication device may receive seventh indication information sent by the RIS, where the seventh indication information is used to indicate the data transmission time offset.

[0160] In the above S310-1 and S310-2, the first indication information sent by the first communication device to the RIS and the first indication information sent by the first communication device to the second communication device are both information used to indicate the data transmission offset, but this application does not limit the two to being the same information. For example, the first communication device can send the first indication information to the RIS and the second communication device in the form of a broadcast, so that both the RIS and the second communication device receive the first indication information. For another example, the first communication device can send the first indication information to the RIS and the second communication device respectively, so that the RIS and the second communication device respectively receive their respective first indication information. The various indication information hereinafter (such as any one or more of the second to eighth indication information) are distinguished by the content of the indication, and the timing of sending and receiving and the sending and receiving ends are not limited.

[0161] In this embodiment of the present application, when the RIS processes data transmission, it is also necessary to determine the weight corresponding to each array so that each array can perform phase adjustment based on the weight. In the mixed-phase RIS solution provided in this embodiment of the present application, it is necessary to determine the weights of different arrays. In this case, the first communication device can indicate the corresponding arrays using different indication information, for example, indicating the weight of at least one first array using second indication information and indicating the weight of at least one second array using third indication information. Referring to Figure 4, method 300 may include:

[0162] S320-1, the first communication device sends second indication information to the RIS, and accordingly, the RIS receives the second indication information sent by the first communication device;

[0163] S320-2, the first communication device sends second indication information to the second communication device, and correspondingly, the second communication device receives the second indication information sent by the first communication device;

[0164] S330-1, the first communication device sends third indication information to the RIS, and accordingly, the RIS receives the third indication information sent by the first communication device;

[0165] S330-2, the first communication device sends third indication information to the second communication device, and correspondingly, the second communication device receives the third indication information sent by the first communication device.

[0166] The second indication information includes information indicating at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array. The third indication information includes information indicating at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array. In some embodiments, the second indication information may further include information indicating the timing of the at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array, and the third indication information may further include information indicating the timing of the at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array.

[0167] As an example, the second indication information may directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period.

[0168] As another example, the second indication information may indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period in a first codebook. The first codebook is used to represent weights that can be used by the first period when performing data transmission processing. Exemplarily, the first period can use multiple weights for data transmission processing. In the first codebook, each weight may correspond to a weight index. The information indicating the at least one weight corresponding to the at least one first period may be a weight index in the first codebook. The second indication information indicates the information of the at least one weight corresponding to the at least one first period via the weight index in the first codebook.

[0169] It should be noted that the weight index can also be called a beam index. The weight index can be information in the form of a bitmap, such as the second weight index can be indicated by the bitmap "0100"; the weight index can be information in binary form, such as the fourth weight index can be indicated by the binary value "0100"; the weight index can be information in the form of a modulation constellation, such as using 16QAM, where a symbol represents the corresponding weight index; the weight index can be a combination of multiple sub-weight indexes, or the weight index has a corresponding relationship with the combination of multiple sub-weight indexes, see Table 1 below, wherein the weight index consists of sub-weight index A and sub-weight index B, or the weight index corresponds to the combination of sub-weight index A and sub-weight index B, such as the combination of index 1 of sub-weight index A and index 1 of sub-weight index corresponds to index 1 in the weight index, the combination of index 1 of sub-weight index A and sub-weight index 2 corresponds to index 2 in the weight index, and so on.

[0170] Table 1

[0171] The third indication information is similar to the second indication information. The third indication information can directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array, or the third indication information can indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array in a second codebook. The second codebook is used to represent the weights that can be used by the second array during data transmission. The second codebook is similar to the first codebook, and the method for indicating the weight of at least one second array based on the second codebook can be referred to the implementation method for indicating at least one first array based on the first codebook described above. For the sake of brevity, this method is not further described.

[0172] It should be noted that the manner in which the second indication information indicates the weights of the first period and the manner in which the third indication information indicates the weights of the second period may be the same or different. For example, the second indication information may directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period, and the third indication information may directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second period. For another example, the second indication information may indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period based on the first codebook, and the third indication information may indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second period based on the second codebook. The manner in which the second indication information indicates the weights of the first period and the manner in which the third indication information indicates the weights of the second period may be different. For example, the second indication information may indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period based on the first codebook, and the third indication information may directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to a second period. For another example, the second indication information may directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first period, and the third indication information may indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second period based on the second codebook.

[0173] Indicating weights (or phases) for each array with higher phase adjustment capability can increase RIS beam gain and improve communication quality. To reduce signaling overhead, when there are a large number of arrays with the same phase adjustment capability, their weights can be indicated based on a codebook, while when there are a small number of arrays with the same phase adjustment capability, their weights can be indicated directly. Assuming that there are a large number of second arrays with lower phase adjustment capabilities and a small number of first arrays with higher phase adjustment capabilities, the second indication information can directly indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array, and the third indication information can indicate at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array based on the second codebook.

[0174] Optionally, the information directly indicating the weight of the array can be carried by radio resource control (RRC) signaling or media access control (MAC) control element (CE), and the weight index of the weight of the array based on the codebook indication can be carried by downlink control information (DCI). For example, when the second indication information directly indicates at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array, the second indication information can be RRC signaling or MAC CE, carrying at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array and the timing corresponding to the at least one weight through RRC or MAC CE; when the third indication information indicates at least one weight corresponding to at least one second array based on the second codebook, the second indication information can be DCI.

[0175] In some embodiments, the second indication information may indicate a weight of a first array based on a resource. Exemplarily, the second indication information indicates a first resource among N resources, where N is a positive integer. The first resource includes information about at least one weight corresponding to at least one first array among the M arrays and information about a timing corresponding to the at least one weight.

[0176] The N resources may be preset resources, such as resources preset in the first communication device, the RIS, and / or the second communication device. When the N resources are preset in the first communication device, the first communication device may configure the N resources to the RIS and / or the second communication device. For another example, the N resources may be agreed upon by a protocol. Each resource includes a weight and a timing, or each resource may include a weight index and a timing, where the weight index has a corresponding weight in the first codebook. Alternatively, the N resources may be resources in a resource list.

[0177] Exemplarily, the first communications device may further send fourth indication information to the RIS and / or the second communications device, where the fourth indication information is used to indicate at least one resource list among L resource lists, where L is a positive integer, and the at least one resource list includes the aforementioned N resources. The L resource lists may be preset resource lists, such as resource lists preset in the first communications device, the RIS, and / or the second communications device. When the L resource lists are preset in the first communications device, the first communications device may configure the L resource lists to the RIS and / or the second communications device. For another example, the L resource lists may be agreed upon by a protocol.

[0178] Similarly, the third indication information can indicate the weight of the first period based on the resource. Exemplarily, the third indication information is used to indicate a second resource among P resources, where P is a positive integer. The second resource includes information about at least one weight corresponding to at least one second period, and information about the timing corresponding to the at least one weight.

[0179] The P resources and the N resources are similar and will not be described in detail for brevity. The difference is that the weight index included in each resource has a corresponding weight in the second codebook. The P resources and the N resources can be the same or different resources, which is not limited in this application. The P resources and the N resources being the same can mean being partially or completely the same.

[0180] The P resources may be resources in a resource list. Exemplarily, the first communication device may send fifth indication information to the RIS and / or the second communication device, where the fifth indication information is used to indicate at least one resource list in the Q resource lists, where Q is a positive integer, and the at least one resource list includes the above-mentioned P resources. The Q resource lists are similar to the above-mentioned L resource lists and will not be described in detail for the sake of brevity. The Q resource lists and the L resource lists may be the same or different resource lists, and this application does not limit this. The sameness of the Q resource lists and the L resource lists may mean that some resource lists are the same or all resource lists are the same.

[0181] Exemplarily, a resource list (such as L resource lists and / or Q resource lists) can be configured by RRC signaling; information indicating at least one resource list from the configured resource lists (such as L resource lists and / or Q resource lists) can be carried by a MAC CE, that is, the fourth indication information and the fifth indication information indicating a resource list are MAC CE; information indicating resources (such as N resources and / or P resources) from at least one resource list can be carried by a DCI, that is, the second indication information indicating the first resource and the third indication information indicating the second resource are DCI.

[0182] When indicating weights based on resources, configuring a resource list can increase the selectivity of array weights, thereby improving the performance of RIS.

[0183] In some embodiments, in addition to the first and second arrays described above, the M arrays further include at least one third array, where no weight is indicated. In this case, the third array can be in a disabled state, such as the disabled third array in the HR-RIS scenario shown in FIG2b , where no phase shifter or phase adjustment control is required. Alternatively, the weight of the third array without a weight is the weight used in the last data transmission process.

[0184] The first communication device may send sixth indication information to the RIS and / or the second communication device, where the sixth indication information may indicate whether the third array is in a disabled state. For example, when the sixth indication information is 1 (or 0), it indicates that the third array is in a disabled state. Optionally, when the sixth indication information indicates that the third array is not in a disabled state, for example, when the sixth indication information is 0 (or 1), it may indicate that the weight of the third array is the weight used in the last data transmission process.

[0185] The embodiment of the present application does not limit the execution order of the above-mentioned S310-1 to S330-2. It can transmit information synchronously, or transmit information sequentially, or transmit part of the information synchronously and transmit part of the information sequentially.

[0186] S340: Perform data transmission according to the data transmission time offset. It should be noted that the data transmission between the first communication device and the second communication device may include uplink transmission, downlink transmission, and sidelink transmission. Taking uplink transmission as an example, the first communication device, the RIS, and the second communication device all synchronize the data transmission time offset. The second communication device performs uplink data transmission based on the data transmission time offset. The RIS processes the uplink data transmission of the second communication device based on the data transmission time offset. The first communication device receives the uplink data transmission processed by the RIS based on the data transmission time offset.

[0187] In some embodiments, the first communication device, the RIS, and the second communication device further perform data transmission based on the weights of the M phases of the synchronized RIS and the timing corresponding to the weights.

[0188] In some embodiments, the first communications device may determine the weights or codebooks for each phase in the RIS based on channel state information (CSI) feedback. Optionally, the CSI may be RSI based on reference signal feedback, or the second communications device based on reference signal feedback, which is not limited in this application.

[0189] Figure 5 is a schematic block diagram of a communication device provided in an embodiment of the present application. The communication device 400 can be a RIS, a terminal device, or a network device, or a device in a RIS, a terminal device, or a network device, or a device that can be used in conjunction with a RIS, a terminal device, or a network device.
