[0010] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, embodiments of a video display system and an automatic recovery method for a video display system according to the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0011] <First Embodiment> Fig. 1 is a diagram showing an example of a video display system 1 according to a first embodiment. In the example shown in Fig. 1, the video display system 1 includes video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, a control system 12, and a video signal source 13. The video display device 11A displays an image on its screen (see Fig. 2, etc.) based on a video signal input to the video display device 11A. The video display device 11A includes a communication unit 111, a storage area 112, a monitoring unit 113, and a processing unit 114. The communication unit 111 of the video display device 11A communicates with the control system 12, the video display devices 11B, and the video display devices 11C.
[0012] The storage area 112 of the video display device 11A stores the contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the control system 12, the contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the video display device 11B, the contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the video display device 11C, etc. The contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the control system 12 include, for example, commands such as the control command X (see FIG. 3 ) received by the video display device 11A from the control system 12. The contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the video display device 11B include, for example, a request from the video display device 11A to the video display device 11B requesting the control command X received by the video display device 11B from the control system 12, and the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11B to the video display device 11A in response to the request from the video display device 11A. The contents of communication between the video display device 11A and the video display device 11C include, for example, a request from the video display device 11A to the video display device 11C requesting a control command X that the video display device 11C has received from the control system 12, and a control command X that the video display device 11C transmits to the video display device 11A in response to the request from the video display device 11A. The storage area 112 of the video display device 11A also stores a log (command reception log) of when the video display device 11A (its own video display device) receives a control command transmitted from the control system 12. The command reception log of the video display device 11A includes, for example, a command such as the control command X that the video display device 11A has received from the control system 12, and the time at which the video display device 11A received the command.
[0013] The monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11A monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the other video display devices 11. For example, the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11A monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display devices 11B and the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display devices 11C. The command reception log of the video display device 11B includes, for example, a command such as control command X that the video display device 11B received from the control system 12, and the time at which the video display device 11B received the command. The command reception log of the video display device 11C includes, for example, a command such as control command X that the video display device 11C received from the control system 12, and the time at which the video display device 11C received the command. The processing unit 114 of the video display device 11A performs processes such as recovery and setting changes for the video display device 11A.
[0014] 1, the image display devices 11B and 11C have the same configuration as the image display device 11A. In other examples, the configurations of the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C may be different from each other, or the configuration of any one of the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C may be different from the configuration of the other two image display devices.
[0015] 1 , a communication unit 111 of the video display device 11B communicates with the control system 12, the video display device 11A, the video display device 11C, etc. A storage area 112 of the video display device 11B stores the contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the control system 12, the contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the video display device 11A, the contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the video display device 11C, etc. The contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the control system 12 include, for example, commands such as a control command X received by the video display device 11B from the control system 12. The contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the video display device 11A include, for example, a request from the video display device 11B to the video display device 11A requesting the control command X received by the video display device 11A from the control system 12, and the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11A to the video display device 11B in response to the request from the video display device 11B. The contents of communication between the video display device 11B and the video display device 11C include, for example, a request from the video display device 11B to the video display device 11C requesting a control command X that the video display device 11C has received from the control system 12, and a control command X that the video display device 11C transmits to the video display device 11B in response to the request from the video display device 11B. In addition, the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B stores a log (command reception log) when the video display device 11B (its own video display device) receives a control command transmitted from the control system 12.
[0016] The monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11B monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the other video display devices 11. For example, the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11B monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11C. The processing unit 114 of the video display device 11B performs processes such as recovery and setting changes for the video display device 11B.
[0017] The communication unit 111 of the video display device 11C communicates with the control system 12, the video display device 11A, the video display device 11B, etc. The storage area 112 of the video display device 11C stores the contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the control system 12, the contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the video display device 11A, the contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the video display device 11B, etc. The contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the control system 12 include, for example, commands such as a control command X received by the video display device 11C from the control system 12. The contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the video display device 11A include, for example, a request from the video display device 11C to the video display device 11A requesting the control command X received by the video display device 11A from the control system 12, and the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11A to the video display device 11C in response to the request from the video display device 11C. The contents of communication between the video display device 11C and the video display device 11B include, for example, a request from the video display device 11C to the video display device 11A requesting a control command X that the video display device 11B has received from the control system 12, and a control command X that the video display device 11B transmits to the video display device 11C in response to the request from the video display device 11C. In addition, the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C stores a log (command reception log) when the video display device 11C (its own video display device) receives a control command transmitted from the control system 12.
[0018] The monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11C monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the other video display devices 11. For example, the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11C monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11B. The processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C performs processes such as recovery and setting changes for the video display device 11C.
[0019] In the example shown in FIG. 1 , the control system 12 controls the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. The control system 12 includes a communication unit 121 and a control unit 122. The communication unit 121 communicates with the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. The control unit 122 controls the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. For example, the communication unit 121 of the control system 12 transmits the same control command X to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, and the control unit 122 collectively controls the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. The video signal source 13 generates video signals to be input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. The video signal source 13 includes a communication unit 131 and a video signal generation unit 132. The communication unit 131 communicates with the control system 12, the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, etc. The video signal generation unit 132 generates video signals to be input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. The video signal generation unit 132 also has a function of changing the video signals to be input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C in response to commands from the control system 12.
[0020] Fig. 2 is a diagram showing an example of the mutual connection relationship between the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and the control system 12 shown in Fig. 1. In the example shown in Fig. 2, the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and the control system 12 are mutually connected via a network NW.
[0021] 3 is a diagram showing an example of a case in which the control system 12 shown in FIG. 2 transmits the same control command X to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C to collectively control the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. In the example shown in FIG. 3, the control system 12 transmits the same control command X to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C to collectively control the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C (specifically, to simultaneously change the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C). In the example shown in FIG. 3, the control command X includes information indicating that the control command X will be simultaneously transmitted to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. In another example, the information indicating that the control command X will be simultaneously transmitted to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C may be transmitted from the control system 12 to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C separately from the control command X.
[0022] In the example shown in FIG. 3 , the video display device 11A successfully receives the control command X transmitted from the control system 12, and the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11A changes the setting value of the video display device 11A based on the control command X. The video display device 11A also stores the control command X transmitted from the control system 12 and the time of reception of the control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00) in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A as a command reception log. The video display device 11B also successfully receives the control command X transmitted from the control system 12, and the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11B changes the setting value of the video display device 11B based on the control command X. The video display device 11B also stores the control command X transmitted from the control system 12 and the time of reception of the control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01) in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B as a command reception log. On the other hand, the video display device 11C fails to receive the control command X sent from the control system 12.
[0023] In the example shown in Figure 3, regardless of whether the video display device 11C fails to receive the control command X transmitted from the control system 12, the video display device 11A periodically monitors the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B and the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C via the network NW, the video display device 11B periodically monitors the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C via the network NW, and the video display device 11C periodically monitors the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B via the network NW.
[0024] Figure 4 is a diagram for explaining an example of monitoring by video display device 11A via network NW of the command reception log stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11B and the command reception log stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11C.
[0025] In the example shown in FIG. 4 , the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11A monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display devices 11B and 11C via the network NW. As a result, the video display device 11A recognizes that the video display devices 11A and 11B received the same control command X at approximately the same time based on the command reception logs (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception logs (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) stored in the storage areas 112 of the video display device 11B. Because the video display device 11A has already changed the setting values of the video display device 11A based on the control command X, the video display device 11A does not further change the setting values based on the results of the monitoring by the video display device 11A.
[0026] 4, the difference between the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11A and the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11B is within 5 seconds, so the video display device 11A recognizes that the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11A and the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11B are the same. In another example, if the difference between the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11A and the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11B is within any threshold other than 5 seconds (for example, 10 seconds, a value set depending on the system or environment), the video display device 11A may recognize that the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11A and the reception time of the control command X by the video display device 11B are the same.
[0027] In the example shown in Figure 4, the video display device 11A recognizes that the command reception log corresponding to the command reception log (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11A is not stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C, but does not take any action such as notifying the video display device 11C of the recognition result.
[0028] Although not shown, the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11B monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception logs stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11C via the network NW. As a result, the video display device 11B recognizes that the video display device 11B and the video display device 11A received the same control command X at approximately the same time, based on the command reception log stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) and the command reception log stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)). Because the video display device 11B has already changed the setting values of the video display device 11B based on the control command X, the video display device 11B does not further change the setting values based on the results of the monitoring by the video display device 11B. Furthermore, although the video display device 11B recognizes that the command reception log corresponding to the command reception log (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B is not stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C, it does not take any action such as notifying the video display device 11C of the recognition result.
[0029] Figure 5 is a diagram for explaining an example of monitoring by video display device 11C via network NW of the command reception log stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11A and the command reception log stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11B.
[0030] 5 , the monitoring unit 113 of the video display device 11C monitors the command reception logs stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A and the command reception logs stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B via the network NW. As a result, the video display device 11C recognizes that the command reception logs corresponding to the command reception log stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) and the command reception log stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) are not stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11C, and recognizes that the video display device 11C failed to receive the control command X that was simultaneously transmitted to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. In this case, a video display device 11 that is recognized as not having a command reception log corresponding to other video display devices 11 (video display devices 11A and 11B), such as video display device 11C, is a "video display device that failed to receive the control command." On the other hand, video display devices 11 that successfully received control command X, such as video display devices 11A and 11B other than video display device 11C, are "video display devices that successfully received the control command."
[0031] In addition, the video display device 11C recognizes that the latest command reception log (i.e., the command reception log with the latest reception time of control command X) among the command reception logs stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11A (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) and the command reception logs stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) is stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B.
[0032] FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating an example of recovery processing of the video display device 11C executed by the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C. In the example shown in FIG. 6, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C requests transmission of the control command X from the video display device 11B, which is one of the video display devices 11A and 11B that successfully received the control command X that the video display device 11C was unable to receive and stores the latest command reception log (control command X and the reception time of control command X (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)). Next, in response to the request from the video display device 11C, the video display device 11B transmits the control command X included in the command reception log stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B to the video display device 11C. Next, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C changes the setting value of the video display device 11C based on the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11B. That is, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C executes recovery processing for the video display device 11C using the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11B. As a result, the video display device 11C recovers from the state in which it failed to receive the control command X, and the settings of the video display device 11C become the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B.
[0033] 6, the video display device 11C finds the video display device 11B that received the control command X at a time newer than the reception time in its own command reception log (not shown), and requests the video display device 11B to transmit the control command X included in the command reception log stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B to the video display device 11C. As a result, even if the video display device 11C fails to receive the control command X transmitted from the control system 12, it can recover from the state in which it failed to receive the control command X transmitted from the control system 12 by using the control command X transmitted from the video display device 11B.
[0034] In the example shown in Figures 1 to 6, the settings of the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C are changed by using a control command X sent from the control system 12 to the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, but in other examples of the image display system 1 of the first embodiment, the settings of the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C can also be changed by changing the video signal input to the image display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0035] Figure 7 is a diagram for explaining an example of commands and instructions transmitted from the control system 12 and signals transmitted from the video signal source 13 when the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C are changed by changing the video signals input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0036] In the example shown in Fig. 7 , similar to the example shown in Fig. 2 , video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and control system 12 are connected to one another via network NW. Furthermore, video signal source 13 is connected to each of video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and control system 12. In the example shown in Fig. 7 , in order to simultaneously change the settings of video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, control system 12 transmits the same signal change notification command Y to video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, and also issues a signal change command to video signal source 13, which is a command to change the video signal input to video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. In the example shown in Fig. 7 , video display device 11A successfully receives signal change notification command Y transmitted from control system 12, and then detects a change in the video signal input to video display device 11A by video signal source 13 within a certain period of time. Therefore, the video display device 11A determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11A. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11A changes the setting values of the video display device 11A based on the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13.
[0037] 7 , the video display device 11B successfully receives the signal change notification command Y transmitted from the control system 12 and then detects a change in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13 within a certain period of time. Therefore, the video display device 11B determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11B. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11B changes the setting values of the video display device 11B based on the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13. The video display device 11C successfully receives the signal change notification command Y transmitted from the control system 12 and then detects a change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 within a certain period of time. Therefore, the video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C changes the setting values of the video display device 11C based on changes in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13.
[0038] Fig. 8 is a diagram for explaining another example of a case where the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C are changed by changing the video signals input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. In the example shown in Fig. 8, similar to the example shown in Fig. 7, the control system 12 transmits the same signal change notification command Y to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C in order to simultaneously change the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, and also issues a signal change command to the video signal source 13, which is a command to change the video signals input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0039] In the example shown in FIG. 8 , similar to the example shown in FIG. 7 , the video display device 11A successfully receives the signal change notification command Y transmitted from the control system 12 and then detects a change in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13 within a certain period of time. Therefore, the video display device 11A determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11A. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11A changes the setting value of the video display device 11A based on the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13. Also, similar to the example shown in FIG. 7 , the video display device 11B successfully receives the signal change notification command Y transmitted from the control system 12 and then detects a change in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13 within a certain period of time. Therefore, the video display device 11B determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11B. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11B changes the setting values of the video display device 11B based on changes in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13.
[0040] 8, unlike the example shown in Fig. 7, the video display device 11C fails to receive the signal change notification command Y transmitted from the control system 12. Furthermore, the video display device 11C detects a change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13. The video display device 11C needs to determine whether the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C. Therefore, video display device 11C requests command reception logs from other video display devices 11A, 11B connected to the same network NW (i.e., video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C other than video display device 11C among the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C that are subject to centralized control by control system 12), and checks the command reception log of video display device 11A (signal change notification command Y and the time of reception of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) and the command reception log of video display device 11B (signal change notification command Y and the time of reception of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)).
[0041] 8 , video display device 11C detects a change in the video signal input to video display device 11C by video signal source 13 at time 2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:02, but does not receive signal change notification command Y transmitted from control system 12. In contrast, the command reception log of video display device 11A includes signal change notification command Y and the reception time of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00), and the command reception log of video display device 11B includes signal change notification command Y and the reception time of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01). In other words, the command reception logs of video display device 11A and video display device 11B store the fact that video display device 11A received signal change notification command Y and video display device 11B received signal change notification command Y at approximately the same time that video display device 11C detected a change in the video signal input to video display device 11C by video signal source 13, 2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:02.
[0042] Therefore, the video display device 11C determines that it failed to receive the signal change notification command Y that it should have received, and determines that it is necessary to change the setting values of the video display device 11C based on the change in the video signal detected at time 2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:02. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C changes the setting values of the video display device 11C based on the result of this determination and the change in the video signal detected at time 2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:02. As a result, the video display device 11C recovers from the state in which it failed to receive the signal change notification command Y, and the settings of the video display device 11C become the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B.
[0043] In the example shown in Figure 8, the signal change notification command Y is included in both the command reception log of video display device 11A (signal change notification command Y and the time of reception of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:00)) and the command reception log of video display device 11B (signal change notification command Y and the time of reception of signal change notification command Y (2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:01)) (i.e., both video display device 11A and video display device 11B successfully received signal change notification command Y).
[0044] 8 , when the control system 12 changes the video signal input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and simultaneously changes the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C by transmitting the same signal change notification command Y to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, if the video display device 11C fails to receive the signal change notification command Y but the video display devices 11A and 11B receive the signal change notification command Y, the video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C is for changing the setting of the video display device 11C based on the confirmation result of whether the video display devices 11A and 11B received the signal change notification command Y. Furthermore, the video display device 11C changes the setting of the video display device 11C based on the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C.
[0045] In another example, the signal change notification command Y may be included in only one of the command reception logs of the video display device 11A and the video display device 11B (i.e., either the video display device 11A or the video display device 11B may successfully receive the signal change notification command Y, while the other of the video display devices 11A and 11B may fail to receive the signal change notification command Y). In this example, the video display device 11C also determines that it failed to receive the signal change notification command Y that it should have received, and determines that it is necessary to change the setting value of the video display device 11C based on the change in the video signal detected at 09:00:02 on 2021 / 01 / 01. Furthermore, the processing unit 114 of the video display device 11C changes the setting value of the video display device 11C based on the result of this determination and the change in the video signal detected at 09:00:02 on 2021 / 01 / 01. As a result, the video display device 11C recovers from the state in which it failed to receive the signal change notification command Y, and the settings of the video display device 11C become the same as the settings of the video display device out of the video display devices 11A and 11B that successfully received the signal change notification command Y. In this example, the remaining video display device out of the video display devices 11A and 11B that failed to receive the signal change notification command Y also performs the same recovery process as the video display device 11C.
[0046] 9 is a diagram illustrating another example in which the video signal input to the video display device 11C changes. In the example shown in FIG. 9, the control system 12 has no intention of changing the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. Therefore, the control system 12 does not send the signal change notification command Y to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. Furthermore, the control system 12 does not issue a command (signal change command) to the video signal source 13 to change the video signal input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0047] 9, no command reception log is stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11A, and no change occurs in the video signal input to the video display device 11A by the video signal source 13. Also, no command reception log is stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11B, and no change occurs in the video signal input to the video display device 11B by the video signal source 13.
[0048] In the example shown in Fig. 9, similarly to the video display devices 11A and 11B, no command reception log is stored in the memory area 112 of the video display device 11C, but the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 changes due to noise, etc. In the example shown in Fig. 9, similarly to the example shown in Fig. 8, the video display device 11C needs to determine whether the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C or whether it is not intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C (in other words, whether the video signal input to the video display device 11C has changed due to noise, etc.).
[0049] 9, similar to the example shown in FIG. 8, video display device 11C requests command reception logs from video display devices 11A and 11B other than video display device 11C among video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C that are subject to centralized control by control system 12, and confirms that no command reception logs exist for video display device 11A and no command reception logs exist for video display device 11B. As a result, video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal detected at 09:00:02 on 2021 / 01 / 01 is not intended to change the setting value of video display device 11C, but is instead caused by noise or the like. Based on this determination, processing unit 114 of video display device 11C does not change the setting value of video display device 11C.
[0050] If the setting values of the video display device 11C have already been changed, the video display device 11C checks the current settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B via the network NW and makes the settings of the video display device 11C the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B. In other words, the settings of the video display device 11C are recovered.
[0051] 9 , when video display device 11C of video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C detects a change in the video signal input to video display device 11C, and none of video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C other than video display device 11C receives signal change notification command Y corresponding to the change in the video signal input to video display device 11C, video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal input to video display device 11C is not for changing the settings of video display device 11C based on the confirmation result of whether video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C other than video display device 11C received signal change notification command Y. When video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal input to video display device 11C is not for changing the settings of video display device 11C, it checks the current settings of video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C other than video display device 11C. Furthermore, the video display device 11C sets the settings of the video display device 11C to be the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B other than the video display device 11C among the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0052] 9 , the control system 12 has no intention of changing the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. Therefore, the control system 12 does not transmit the signal change notification command Y to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. Furthermore, the control system 12 does not issue to the video signal source 13 a command (signal change command) to change the video signal input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C.
[0053] 9, in this example, a past command reception log (i.e., a command reception log stored at a timing different from the timing at which the video signal input to the video display device 11C changes) is stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11A. Also, a past command reception log is stored in the storage area 112 of the video display device 11B.
[0054] 9, the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 changes due to noise, etc. In this example, too, the video display device 11C needs to determine whether the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C by the video signal source 13 is intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C or whether it is not intended to change the settings of the video display device 11C (in other words, whether the change in the video signal input to the video display device 11C is due to noise, etc.).
[0055] Therefore, in this example, video display device 11C requests command reception logs from video display devices 11A and 11B other than video display device 11C among video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C that are subject to centralized control by control system 12, and confirms that only past command reception logs are stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11A and that only past command reception logs are stored in memory area 112 of video display device 11B. As a result, video display device 11C determines that the change in the video signal detected at time 2021 / 01 / 01 09:00:02 is not intended to change the setting value of video display device 11C, but is caused by noise or the like. Based on the result of this determination, processing unit 114 of video display device 11C does not change the setting value of video display device 11C.
[0056] 9, in this example, if the setting values of the video display device 11C have already been changed, the video display device 11C checks the current settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B via the network NW and makes the settings of the video display device 11C the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B. In other words, the settings of the video display device 11C are recovered.
[0057] 10 is a flowchart for explaining an example of processing executed by, for example, the video display device 11C of the video display system 1 of the first embodiment. In the example shown in FIG. 10, in step S1, the video display device 11C determines whether recovery of the video display device 11C (i.e., its own recovery) is necessary. If its own recovery is necessary, the process proceeds to step S2. On the other hand, if its own recovery is not necessary, the routine shown in FIG. 10 ends.
[0058] In step S2, the video display device 11C determines whether or not to recover itself using the control command X. That is, in step S2, the video display device 11C determines whether or not the video display device 11C (i.e., itself) failed to receive the control command X when the control system 12 transmits the same control command X to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C to collectively control the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. If the video display device 11C recovers itself using the control command X, that is, if the control system 12 transmits the same control command X to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C to collectively control the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and the video display device 11C fails to receive the control command X, the process proceeds to step S3. On the other hand, if the video display device 11C does not recover itself using the control command X, more specifically, when the control system 12 changes the video signal input to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C and sends the same signal change notification command Y to the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C to simultaneously change the settings of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C, if the video display device 11C fails to receive the signal change notification command Y, the process proceeds to step S4.
[0059] In step S3, the video display device 11C that failed to receive the control command X requests the video display device that received the control command X (i.e., video display device 11A or video display device 11B) to transmit the control command X that was received by one of the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C other than the video display device 11C. Furthermore, the video display device 11C recovers from the state in which it failed to receive the control command X by using the control command X transmitted to the video display device 11C from the video display device that received the control command X (i.e., video display device 11A or video display device 11B).
[0060] In step S4, the video display device 11C that failed to receive the signal change notification command Y checks whether the video display devices 11A and 11B other than the video display device 11C among the video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C have received the signal change notification command Y. Furthermore, based on the check results as to whether the video display devices 11A and 11B have received the signal change notification command Y, the video display device 11C sets the settings of the video display device 11C to be the same as the settings of the video display devices 11A and 11B.
[0061] Second Embodiment A second embodiment of the video display system and the automatic recovery method for the video display system of the present invention will now be described. The video display system 1 of the second embodiment has the same configuration as the video display system 1 of the first embodiment described above, except for the points described below. Therefore, the video display system 1 of the second embodiment can achieve the same effects as the video display system 1 of the first embodiment described above, except for the points described below.
[0062] As described above, the video display system 1 of the first embodiment includes three video display devices 11A, 11B, and 11C. On the other hand, the video display system 1 of the second embodiment includes any number of video display devices other than three (however, multiple).
[0063] In an environment where multiple video display devices are installed, such as a video wall, the video display devices and a control system may be placed on the same network, and the control system may send control commands to the video display devices to control the multiple video display devices collectively. Even though the control system sends the same control command to all the video display devices, some video display devices may fail to receive the control command due to factors such as noise or the video display devices themselves being unable to accept the control command, causing the video display devices to fail to operate as intended by the control system. In such cases, the video display system 1 of the first or second embodiment can automatically recover the video display devices that failed to receive the control command to the state that they should have been in upon receiving the control command.
[0064] Furthermore, a video display device may change its settings due to changes in the video signal input to the video display device, other than when it receives a control command. In an environment where multiple video display devices are installed, when the same video signal is to be input to all video display devices, an unstable signal input to a certain video display device may cause an unintended setting change in that video display device. In such a case, the video display system 1 of the first or second embodiment can restore the settings of the video display device that has experienced the unintended setting change to the same settings as the other surrounding video display devices that are receiving a stable signal, i.e., restore the settings to the settings before the unintended setting change occurred.
[0065] Although the present invention has been described above using the embodiments, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments, and various modifications and substitutions can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. The configurations described in the above-described embodiments and examples can be combined as appropriate.
[0066] Note that all or part of the functions of each unit of the video display system 1 in the above-described embodiment may be realized by recording a program for implementing those functions on a computer-readable recording medium and loading and executing the program on the recording medium into a computer system. Note that the term "computer system" as used herein includes hardware such as an OS and peripheral devices. Furthermore, the term "computer-readable recording medium" refers to portable media such as floppy disks, optical magnetic disks, ROMs, and CD-ROMs, as well as storage units such as hard disks built into computer systems. Furthermore, the term "computer-readable recording medium" may also include media that dynamically store programs for a short period of time, such as communication lines used when transmitting programs via networks such as the Internet or telephone lines, or media that store programs for a fixed period of time, such as volatile memory within the computer systems that serve as servers or clients in such cases. Furthermore, the programs may be programs that implement part of the aforementioned functions, or may be programs that can be implemented in combination with programs already stored in the computer system.
