[0001] Cross-citation with related applications
[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority from Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0085228, filed June 30, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0003] Technology field
[0004] The present invention relates to a testing device for testing the performance of a connector installed in a battery module.
[0005] To address environmental pollution caused by the use of petroleum resources and the resulting energy shortage resulting from petroleum depletion, research and development are underway on power generation based on eco-friendly energy sources. In particular, active research is being conducted on secondary batteries, which offer high utility due to their ability to be repeatedly charged and discharged. Research is also being conducted on various aspects of secondary batteries, including their materials, structure, processes, and stability.
[0006] Common types of secondary batteries include nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and lithium-ion polymer batteries. These batteries are used not only in small products such as digital cameras, DVDs, MP3 players, mobile phones, PDAs, portable game devices, power tools, and e-bikes, but also in larger products requiring high output, such as electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as in power storage devices that store surplus power or renewable energy, and as backup power storage devices.
[0007] To manufacture these secondary batteries, first, an electrode active material slurry is applied to a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode current collector to manufacture a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and these are laminated on both sides of a separator to form an electrode assembly of a predetermined shape. Then, the electrode assembly is housed in a battery case, filled with electrolyte, and sealed.
[0008] A battery module is manufactured by configuring a plurality of secondary batteries manufactured in this manner and accommodating them internally. In this case, a control unit is designed to detect the status of the plurality of secondary batteries and control the operation of the plurality of secondary batteries. For example, the control unit includes a configuration such as a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) or a BMS (Battery Management System), and receives electrical signals from the plurality of secondary batteries or transmits electrical signals to the plurality of secondary batteries. In other words, the control unit receives status information of the secondary batteries as electrical signals and controls the operation of the secondary batteries according to the operating conditions, etc. In addition, the control unit is designed inside a battery pack composed of a plurality of battery modules, and can control the operation of the plurality of battery modules.
[0009] Additionally, a connector is designed to electrically connect multiple battery modules and a control unit, or to electrically connect multiple battery modules together. For example, the connector may include a terminal structurally connected to the outer surface of the battery module and electrically connected to the battery module. That is, the connector may include an insertion-type structure, and a portion of the connector may be designed to be detachable or attached to the battery module.
[0010] Connector malfunctions can occur during the connector's use. To verify proper connector operation, a connector inspection device is often used. This device is inserted into the connector and electrically connected to it, allowing it to verify whether the connector is properly transmitting and receiving electrical signals with the battery module.
[0011] However, during the process of inserting and connecting the connector inspection device to the connector, the connector inspection device is not connected in the correct position, which often causes the probe pin of the inspection device to be damaged or the inspection to not be performed properly.
[0012] Therefore, in the process of examining the performance of a connector, there is a need for an inspection device that can adjust the posture and coupling angle of the inspection device to ensure that the connector is coupled to the correct position.
[0013] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a connector inspection device that adjusts the coupling position and direction so that the connector is coupled at the correct position.
[0014] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a connector inspection device that protects a detection member from external factors before being coupled with a connector, and forms the detection member to protrude only when coupled with the connector.
[0015] In a test device for connecting to a connector of a battery module and testing the performance of the connector, the connector test device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first body part, a second body part having one side connected to one side of the first body part, a third body part having one side connected to the other side of the second body part and including a detection member that connects to the connector and receives an electrical signal from the connector, and a fourth body part having one side facing the other side of the third body part, positioning the detection member inside, and being movable toward the third body part, wherein the second body part, the third body part, and the fourth body part can be movable along one side of the first body part.
[0016] The second body part may include a second body main body having one side connected to one side of the first body part and the other side connected to one side of the third body part, and a connecting part that protrudes from the second body main body and is inserted and connected to the first body part.
[0017] The first body part includes an insertion hole formed through which the connecting part is inserted, and a free space can be formed between the connecting part and the insertion hole.
[0018] As the above-mentioned connecting portion moves inside the insertion hole by the above-mentioned free space, the second body main body can move along one side of the first body portion.
[0019] The above second body main body can be moved in a direction parallel to one side of the above first body part.
[0020] The above-mentioned connecting portion can move inside the insertion hole in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which it is inserted into the insertion hole.
[0021] The fourth body part may include a fourth body main body having one side connected to the other side of the third body part and movable toward the third body part, and a connecting part formed to protrude from the other side of the fourth body main body and positioning the detection member on the inside, and coupled with the connector.
[0022] The third body part may further include a third body main body having one surface connected to the other surface of the second body part and having the detection member formed on the other surface, and a compression member installed in the third body main body and elastically compressible by the fourth body main body.
[0023] The compression member is positioned in the space between the third body main body and the fourth body main body, and as the fourth body part moves toward the third body part, the compression member can be elastically compressed by the fourth body main body.
[0024] The third body main body includes a compression hole formed through the penetration and in which the compression member is positioned, and both ends of the compression member can contact the other surface of the second body part and one surface of the fourth body main body.
[0025] The above connecting portion may include a connecting hole formed through which the detecting member is inserted.
[0026] As the fourth body main body moves toward the third body part, the detection member can move along the connection hole and be formed to protrude from the outer surface of the connection part.
[0027] In a state where the above detection member is formed to protrude from the outer surface of the connection portion, the above detection member can be connected to the connector.
[0028] The second body part, the third body part, and the fourth body part are connected as one body and can move together.
[0029] The above detection member may include a pin shape.
[0030] The connector inspection device according to an embodiment of the present invention may further include a circuit board positioned between the other surface of the second body part and one surface of the third body part and electrically connected to the detection member.
[0031] According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, by adjusting the coupling position and direction so as to couple to the correct position of the connector, the problem of the detection member being damaged or not being able to properly perform the inspection can be prevented.
[0032] According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the detection member is protected from external factors before being coupled with the connector, and the detection member is formed to protrude only when coupled with the connector, thereby preventing the problem of the detection member being damaged during coupling.
[0033] In addition, the configurations according to preferred embodiments of the present invention may include effects that can be easily predicted by those skilled in the art.

[0045] In order to clearly explain the present invention, a detailed description of a part that is irrelevant to the description or a related known technology that may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the present invention has been omitted, and when adding reference signs to components of each drawing in this specification, the same or similar reference signs are attached to the same or similar components throughout the specification.
[0046] In addition, terms and words used in this specification and claims should not be interpreted as limited to their usual or dictionary meanings, but should be interpreted as meanings and concepts that conform to the technical idea of the present invention based on the principle that the inventor can appropriately define the concept of the term to explain his or her own invention in the best way.
[0047] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a connector inspection device (1) and a connector (C) combined according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0048] Referring to FIG. 1, a connector inspection device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention can be coupled with a connector (C) and electrically connected to the connector (C). The connector inspection device (1) can transmit and receive electrical signals to and from the connector (C) while being inserted and coupled to the connector (C), thereby inspecting the performance of the connector (C). In other words, the connector inspection device (1) can inspect whether the connector (C) is operating normally.
[0049] Specifically, the connector (C) is structurally connected to the outer surface of the battery module (M) and can be electrically connected to the battery module (M). In other words, the connector (C) can be designed in a form that can be detached or attached to the battery module (M), including a terminal form. That is, the connector (C) includes a female connector (C) and a male connector (C) that is inserted and connected to the female connector (C), and can include a structure in which the male connector (C) is separated from the female connector (C) or inserted into the female connector (C).
[0050] In this case, the coupling portion of the connector inspection device (1), i.e., the connecting portion, has the same structure as the connecting portion of the male connector (C), and by coupling and electrically connecting to the female connector (C), the performance of the connector (C) can be inspected.
[0051] Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a connector inspection device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A' in Fig. 2.
[0052] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the connector inspection device (1) may include a first body part (10), a second body part (11), a third body part (12), and a fourth body part (13).
[0053] The first body part (10) may be the part most distant from the connector (C). That is, the second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) may be sequentially formed from the first body part (10) toward the connector (C). In other words, when the user couples the connector inspection device (1) to the connector (C), the first body part (10) may be the part that is held by the user.
[0054] The second body part (11) can be connected to the first body part (10). For example, one side (11a) of the second body part (11) can be connected to one side (10a) of the first body part (10), and the other side (11b) of the second body part (11) can be connected to the third body part (12) described later. That is, the second body part (11) can be connected to one side (11a) of the first body part (10) facing the connector (C).
[0055] The third body part (12) can be connected to the second body part (11). For example, one side (12a) of the third body part (12) can be connected to the other side (11b) of the second body part (11), and the other side (12b) of the third body part (12) can be connected to the fourth body part (13) described later.
[0056] In addition, the third body part (12) can be connected to the connector (C). In other words, the third body part (12) is electrically connected to the connector (C) and can receive an electrical signal from the connector (C). Specifically, the connector inspection device (1) moves along the X-axis direction, which is the connection direction, and the third body part (12) can move along the connection direction to be connected to the connector (C).
[0057] The third body part (12) may include a third body main body (120) and a detection member (121).
[0058] One side (12a) of the third body main body (120) can be connected to the other side (11b) of the second body part (11). In other words, the third body main body (120) can be connected to the other side (11b) of the second body part (11) facing the connector (C).
[0059] The detection member (121) can be connected to the connector (C) and receive an electrical signal from the connector (C). For example, the detection member (121) can be formed to protrude from the other surface (12b) of the third body main body (120) toward the connector (C). In other words, the detection member (121) can be formed to protrude along the X-axis direction from the other surface (12b) of the third body main body (120).
[0060] Specifically, the detection member (121) is formed on the lower side of the other surface (12b) of the third body main body (120), moves along the upper surface of the battery module (M), and is then inserted and coupled to the connector (C), so that it can be electrically connected to the connector (C).
[0061] The detection member (121) may include a pin shape. In other words, the detection member (121) may include a plurality of probe pins arranged. The probe pins have a structure that becomes thinner and sharper toward the ends, and can be electrically connected by contacting the current collecting circuit inside the connector (C).
[0062] The fourth body part (13) may be connected to the third body part (12). For example, one side (13a) of the fourth body part (13) may face the other side (12b) of the third body part (12). In addition, the fourth body part (13) may have a detection member (121) positioned on the inside. That is, the fourth body part (13) may include a structure surrounding the outside of the detection member (121).
[0063] The second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) can move along one side (10a) of the first body part (10). The second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) can be integrally connected and move together. For example, the second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) can be integrally connected through screw coupling or the like and move in the same direction as one.
[0064] Specifically, the second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) can move in a direction parallel to one side (10a) of the first body part (10). Referring to Fig. 2, the second body part (11), the third body part (12), and the fourth body part (13) can move in the Y-axis or Z-axis direction.
[0065] More specifically, the second body part (11) may include a second body main body (110) and a connecting part (111).
[0066] One side (11a) of the second body main body (110) may be connected to one side (10a) of the first body part (10), and the other side (11b) of the second body main body (110) may be connected to one side (12a) of the third body part (12). The connecting portion (111) may be formed to protrude from the second body main body (110) and may be inserted and connected to the first body part (10). For example, the connecting portion (111) may be formed to protrude toward the first body part (10) so as to penetrate the first body part (10) while being inserted and connected to the second body main body (110).
[0067] The first body part (10) may include an insertion hole (100) formed through which a connecting part (111) is inserted. When the connecting part (111) is inserted into the insertion hole (100), the end of the connecting part (111) may be connected to the inner surface of the first body part (10) inside the insertion hole (100).
[0068] The connecting portion (111) can move a predetermined distance inside the insertion hole (100). For example, a free space can be formed between the connecting portion (111) and the insertion hole (100). In addition, the connecting portion (111) can move a predetermined distance along the inner surface of the first body portion (10) while being connected to the inner surface of the first body portion (10) inside the insertion hole (100).
[0069] Specifically, the coupling portion (111) can move inside the insertion hole (100) in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which it is inserted into the insertion hole (100). For example, the coupling portion (111) can be inserted into the insertion hole (100) along the X-axis direction and move a predetermined distance along the Y-axis direction or the Z-axis direction, which is a direction perpendicular to the direction in which it is inserted.
[0070] A structure of a connecting portion (111) and an insertion hole (100) like this can be formed in multiple pieces on one side (10a) of the first body portion (10).
[0071] As the connecting portion (111) moves inside the insertion hole (100) by the free space, the second body main body (110) can move along one side (10a) of the first body part (10). That is, the second body main body (110) can move in the Y-axis or Z-axis direction, which is parallel to the one side (10a) of the first body part (10). At the same time, the third body part (12) and the fourth body part (13), which are integrally connected with the second body part (11), can also move in the same direction.
[0072] FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the fourth body part (13) according to an embodiment of the present invention before moving, FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the fourth body part (13) according to an embodiment of the present invention after moving, and FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line B-B' in FIG. 2.
[0073] Referring to FIGS. 4 to 6, the fourth body part (13) can be moved toward the third body part (12). In other words, the fourth body part (13) can be moved toward the third body part (12) in a direction parallel to the X-axis direction. For example, the fourth body part (13) can be moved in a direction opposite to the direction in which the connector inspection device (1) is connected.
[0074] For movement of the fourth body part (13) as described above, the third body part (12) may further include a compression member (122) that is installed on the third body main body (120) and can be elastically compressed by the fourth body main body (130). The compression member (122) includes a spring that can be elastically deformed, is compressed and deformed when an external force is applied, and can be restored to its original shape when the external force is removed.
[0075] The compression member (122) may be positioned in the space between the third body main body (120) and the fourth body main body (130). Specifically, the third body main body (120) includes a compression hole (1200) formed through the compression member (122), and the compression member (122) may be positioned in the compression hole (1200). Both ends of the compression member (122) may be in contact with the other surface (11b) of the second body part (11) and one surface (13a) of the fourth body main body (130).
[0076] As the fourth body part (13) moves toward the third body part (12), the compression member (122) can be elastically compressed by the fourth body main body (130). That is, when one end of the compression member (122) is in close contact with the other surface (11b) of the second body part (11), the other end of the compression member (122) receives an external force by one surface (13a) of the fourth body main body (130), so that the compression member (122) can be elastically deformed in the direction opposite to the connection direction.
[0077] The third body part (12) may further include a support member (123) positioned inside the compression member (122) and supporting the compression member (122). For example, when the support member (123) is inserted into the compression hole (1200), both ends of the support member (123) may be fixedly connected to each of the second body part (11) and the fourth body part (13).
[0078] According to the structure of the support member (123) as described above, even if the compression member (122) is elastically deformed in the form of a spring, the compression member (122) is supported by the support member (123), so that it may not bend and may not deviate from the deformation path.
[0079] The fourth body part (13) may include a fourth body main body (130) and a connecting part (131).
[0080] One side (13a) of the fourth body main body (130) is connected to the other side (12b) of the third body part (12) and can move toward the third body part (12). That is, the fourth body main body (130) can move toward the third body part (12) when the connector inspection device (1) is coupled to the connector (C) while being spaced apart from the third body part (12) by a certain distance. At this time, one side (13a) of the fourth body main body (130) can apply an external force to the compression member (122) to compressively deform the compression member (122).
[0081] The connecting portion (131) can be coupled with the connector (C). For example, the connecting portion (131) can be formed to protrude from the other surface (13b) of the fourth body main body (130) and the detection member (121) can be positioned on the inside. In other words, the connecting portion (131) can be formed to protrude from the other surface (13b) of the fourth body main body (130) in the X-axis direction, i.e., the connecting direction.
[0082] The connecting portion (131) may include a connecting hole (1310) formed through which the detection member (121) is inserted. As the fourth body main body (130) moves toward the third body part (12), the detection member (121) may move along the connecting hole (1310) and protrude from the outer surface of the connecting portion (131).
[0083] In a state where the detection member (121) is formed to protrude from the outer surface of the connection portion (131), the detection member (121) can be connected to the connector (C). That is, in a state where the compression member (122) is compressed by the fourth body portion (13) and the fourth body portion (13) is in close contact with the third body portion (12), the detection member (121) protruding from the outer surface of the connection portion (131) can be connected to the connector (C).
[0084] The connector inspection device (1) may further include a circuit board (14) positioned between the other surface of the second body part (11) and one surface of the third body part (12) and electrically connected to the detection member (121). The circuit board (14) may be a PCB (Printed Circuit Board). The circuit board (14) may receive an electrical signal related to the performance of the connector (C) from the detection member (121).
[0085] The connector inspection device (1) may further include a tape (15) positioned between the first body part (10) and the second body part (11). The tape (15) includes a Teflon material and may act to allow the second body part (11) to move more easily along one surface of the first body part (10).
[0086] FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a connector inspection device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention before being combined, FIG. 8 is a perspective view of a connector inspection device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention when combined, and FIG. 9 is a perspective view of a connector inspection device (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention when combined.
[0087] Referring to FIGS. 7 to 9, a series of processes in which a connector inspection device (1) is coupled to a connector (C) will be described. Since each edge of the fourth body part (13) is formed to be inclined, the insertion path of the fourth body part (13) can be more flexibly adjusted during the process in which the fourth body part (13) is inserted into the connector (C). In this case, the inclined surface of each edge of the connection part (131) can be formed so that the connection part (131) becomes narrower along the connection direction.
[0088] The fourth body part (13) can move a predetermined distance in the Y-axis or Z-axis direction, and at the same time, the second body part (11) and the third body part (12) that are integrally connected can move a predetermined distance in the Y-axis or Z-axis direction.
[0089] Through the corner structure of the fourth body part (13) and the movable structure of the second body part (11) to the fourth body part (13), the connector inspection device (1) can adjust the connection position and can be coupled with the connector (C) along a pre-designed connection path. Therefore, the connector inspection device (1) can be coupled and connected to the connector (C) more precisely, thereby improving the inspection quality and preventing problems in which the inspection is not properly performed.
[0090] Next, in the process of the connector inspection device (1) being inserted into the connector (C) by contacting it, the fourth body part (13) receives an external force from the connector (C) and is pushed in the opposite direction to the connection direction, and the fourth body part (13) pushed by the connector (C) can compress the compression member (122) and come into close contact with the third body part (12).
[0091] At this time, the detection member (121) located on the inside of the fourth body part (13) is formed to protrude to the outside of the fourth body part (13), thereby being exposed to the outside and being able to contact and be electrically connected to the circuit inside the connector (C).
[0092] According to the protruding structure of the detection member (121) as described above, the detection member (121) is designed to protrude outward only when the fourth body part (13) is normally connected to the connector (C) along the connection path while the detection member (121) is located inside the fourth body part (13) before coupling, thereby preventing the problem of the detection member (121) being damaged during the coupling process.
[0093] A connector inspection device according to another embodiment of the present invention may include only one structure among a structure in which the second to fourth body parts are movable in the Y-axis or Z-axis direction, or a structure in which the fourth body part is movable toward the third body part. In other words, a connector inspection device according to another embodiment of the present invention may be designed by utilizing only one of the two structures depending on the structure of the battery module, the process conditions, etc.
[0094] The above description is merely an example of the technical idea of the present invention, and those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications and variations can be made without departing from the essential characteristics of the present invention.
[0095] Accordingly, the embodiments disclosed in the present invention are not intended to limit the technical idea of the present invention but to explain it, and the scope of the technical idea of the present invention is not limited by these embodiments.
[0096] The scope of protection of the present invention should be interpreted by the claims below, and all technical ideas within the scope equivalent thereto should be interpreted as being included in the scope of the rights of the present invention.
