ET2201- FLEXIBLE EXPANSION TANKTechnical Field of the Invention
[0001] The invention can be characterized by an expansion tank system in combi boilers and all similar products that absorbs the volume that increases as the water in the system expands by heating, by stretching with a central focus, and thus does not allow the system pressure to increase, and provides the advantage of production compatible with any desired shape and connection by means of its flexibility feature. It relates to an expansion tank system that, compared to state-of-the-art products, can stretch centrally by means of the internal pool in the middle area, does not require additional gas for back pressure, does not require a membrane, is much lighter, takes up much less space, is made of plastic material, is not affected by corrosion in any way, has freedom of shape and size, has a self-mounting bracket (1) and does not require additional parts / joining screws for assembly, does not need to use additional material by nailing the couplings to be connected to the inlet and air discharge outlets (3), provides heat saving by means of its insulating feature, is designed to remain within the elastic zone at all times, allowing the increasing volume of heated water by expanding with its stretching character, and in this way, ensures that the system pressure does not increase, and in case the water cools down and loses volume, regains its previous shape with the help of its elastic structure and maintains the system pressure and to which a purge valve can be added if desired.
[0002] By means of its special forms, the system does not allow any deformation that may occur in the system, and by means of its ribbed (4) structure, it is characterised by being able to withstand the pressure required in combi boiler systems. By combining the two structures with welding in the inner-middle parts of the flexible modules, controlled and homogeneous stretching of these modules is ensured. The system is capable of withstanding high temperature values and is suitable for operation in the dirty water line (CH). In addition, since the system is produced from plastic material, it is characterised by eliminating rust / corrosion problems that may occur over time with the use of sheet metal material and the resulting high service costs, and by incorporating environmentally friendly and ecological measures. The State of the Art
[0003] In known applications, when water is heated in closed heating systems, it expands and causes the system pressure to increase. Due to this pressure increase, some fluctuations occur in the system, and these fluctuations begin to damage the system over time. If the expanding water in the system is not controlled, it may cause leakage in heating systems, reduce heating efficiency, damage pipes and cause system malfunctions. To prevent these possible dangers and pressure fluctuations in the system, expansion tanks are used. In general, expansion tanks are used in closed systems (central systems, combi boilers, boilers, etc.) to absorb the excess pressure created by the expanding fluid by increasing the volume. By controlling the pressure in the system, damage to pipes and other mechanical parts is prevented and the system is ensured to operate at the desired performance values. Pressure and volume criteria are important in the selection of expansion tanks, and the basic operating principles are based on these two criteria.
[0004] Expansion tanks are used in devices such as floor heaters, combi boilers, etc., directly integrated into the product.
[0005] In cases where the water temperature in the system does not exceed 80°C, membrane type expansion tanks are generally used to control the resulting pressure. Open and closed type expansion tanks are available, and in open type expansion tanks, the pressure is balanced with the atmospheric pressure in contact. Closed type expansion tanks are divided into two: diaphragm membrane and closed membrane. In these systems with a membrane inside, water comes into direct contact with the sheet metal. Since water remains in the system constantly, the oxygen in the water causes corrosion in the radiator and tank parts, and may even cause holes to form in the tank in the future. In these systems that are known to be produced with membranes, air leaks may occur over time, negative consequences such as dirt and odour in the water may occur, and punctures / tears and explosions may occur in membranes that cannot last for a long time. After all, there may be situations where not only the ruptured membrane but the entire tank changes. This option is not used for products with spare parts, and in this case, users may lose energy, time and extra costs.Brief Description of the Invention

[0016] Expansion tanks are used in closed cooling and heating systems to balance the volume increase / decrease that occurs due to temperature changes. When water heats up, it expands. Expanding water causes an increase in pressure in the closed systems it is in and fluctuations in the pressure values in the system. When there is no water in the tank, the pressure is balanced by the air in the tank. When the water heats up and expands, excess water fills the tank and the gas pressure increases. If the system cools down, the water volume decreases, shrinkage occurs in the tank, and water drains from the tank. In the system that is the subject of the invention, pressure increases resulting from expansion of water can be kept in balance by means of the swelling of the volume and the flexible structure of the system, and proper operation is ensured by preventing excessive increases.
[0017] The present invention is suitable for use in all heating systems such as combi boilers and similar and is characterised by an expansion tank system that stretches and absorbs the volume that increases as the water in the system expands by heating, and thus does not allow the system pressure to increase, can be produced suitable for all kinds of connections, is centrally focused, flexible, does not require additional gas for back pressure, does not require a membrane, is much lighter, takes up much less space, is made of plastic material, is not affected by corrosion in any way, has freedom of shape and size, has a self-mounting bracket (1) and does not require additional parts or coupling screws for assembly, does not require additional sealing material, provides heat saving and energy efficiency with its insulating feature, is designed to remain within the elastic zone at all times, expands with its stretching character, and allows the increasing volume of heated water, thus ensuring that the system pressure does not increase, and as the water cools and loses volume, regains its former shape by means of its elastic structure.
[0018] The system has a water inlet and outlet (2) at the bottom and an air discharge outlet (3) at the top, and a purge valve can be added to the system if desired. By means of its special forms, it does not allow any deformation that may occur in the system. The present invention is an expansion tank system that, with its ribbed (4) structure, can withstand the pressure required in combi boiler systems, provides controlled and homogeneous stretching of the modules joined by welding, and is suitable for operation in the dirty water line (CH). Since the system is produced from plastic material, it is characterised by the fact that it eliminates rust / corrosion problems that may occur over time with the use of sheet-metal materials and the high service costs that may arise from this. In addition, it consists of gaps (5) and modules (chambers) (6) made for homogeneous distribution, and it is characterised by the controlled and homogeneous stretching of the modules by combining the two structures with welding in the inner-middle parts of the flexible modules (chambers). This module (chambers) balances the pressure in the system and protects the system by opening and closing to prevent damage to the system.
[0019] Another feature of the invention can be characterised by preventing the rotation structure by grouping without using an additional sealing material, by the plastic being assembled and grouped by self-welding without the need for an additional part / adhesive or joining screw by means of the body structure and connection coupling with self-removing mounting brackets (1), by easy mounting into the device and nailing these connection points to the inlet and air discharge parts,
[0020] Another feature of the invention is that, by means of its flexibility, it can be produced in any desired shape and in accordance with all kinds of connections, and it provides sealing by taking advantage of the stretching of the plastic expansion tank.
[0021] Another feature of the invention is that there is a water inlet and outlet at the bottom of the system and an air discharge outlet at the top. In closed circuit heating systems, those areas are not heated due to the inability of hot water to reach the areas where the air remains. In order to remove air, air vents called purge valves must be added. Purge valves can be produced to suit all kinds of hydraulic pipe connections and can be added to the system if desired.
[0022] Another feature of the invention is that the operating temperature of the system is such that it can withstand high temperature values and is suitable for operation in the dirty water line (CH).
[0023] Another feature of the invention is that the flexible modules, consisting of specially shaped joints that do not deteriorate when stretching and opening and contracting and closing as a result of the pressure differences in the system, constantly maintain their shape and do not allow deformation. These flexible modules can withstand the pressure required by combi boiler systems by means of the ribbed (4) structure on them. In addition, in the inner-middle parts of these flexible modules, the two structures are joined by welding and there are gaps (5) for controlled and homogeneous distribution of the modules, thus ensuring homogeneous stretching.
[0024] Another feature of the invention can be characterised by combining the two structures by welding in the inner-middle parts of the flexible modules (chambers), providing adhesion in the middle part, and providing the modules with gaps (5) for controlled and homogeneous distribution and ensuring homogeneous stretching.
[0025] Another feature of the invention is to ensure that the stretching is centrally focused and homogeneous and equal in both directions of the tank by means of the internal pool in the middle area.
[0026] Another feature of the invention is that it works without the need for counter-balancing gas and without a membrane. By means of this feature, compared to membrane expansion tanks, risks such as membrane puncture / wear / explosion that may occur over time are eliminated.
[0027] Another feature of the invention is that it has freedom of shape and size. By means of this feature, unlike known expansion tanks, it can be placed in the spaces in the internal volume of the boiler to be used, and can be produced in variable sizes and shapes, helping to reduce the total volume of the boiler.
[0028] Another feature of the invention is that, due to the use of plastic material, it is lighter than similar products produced using other known sheet metal, and also takes up less space in the boiler by means of its flexible and thin structure.
[0029] Another feature of the invention is that the system, which is grouped without the use of an additional sealing material, provides the feature of non-rotation by nailing the coupling to the inlet and air discharge parts.
[0030] Another feature of the invention can be characterised by the use of flexible materials that are resistant to abrasion, can absorb energy and have the ability to bend, allowing the volume of heated water to expand by stretching so that the part remains within the elastic region, and shrinking again by stretching when the water cools down again.
[0031] Another feature of the invention is characterised in that it prevents deformities and deformations by means of its flexible modules consisting of nodes.
[0032] Another feature of the invention is that since it will be produced from said plastic material, rust / corrosion and economic life problems that may occur over time in expansion tanks made of sheet metal material are eliminated. At the same time, by means of the plastic material used, it has a structure that is flexible, resistant to abrasion and bending, and able to absorb energy. Because it is produced from plastic material, it is characterised by eliminating rust / corrosion problems that may occur over time due to the use of sheet-metal materials and the high service costs that may arise from this.
[0033] Another feature of the invention is characterized by comprising ecological measures by the use of environmentally friendly and compatible materials and the absence of paint during the production phase and being environmentally friendly and longer lasting.
[0034] Another feature of the invention is that it provides heat saving and energy efficiency by keeping the temperature of the heated water in the combi boiler many times higher than the metal tanks used in the state of the art, by means of its insulating feature due to being produced from plastic material.
