AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing tools for removing hard materials like ice, slush, or crushed concrete from surfaces require separate operations for crushing and removal, leading to inefficiencies and safety hazards due to flying fragments.

Method used

A dual-purpose tool with a semicircular metallic or plastic blade, featuring a sharp edge for crushing and an indented edge for removal, attached to a shaft via a socket, allowing mode switching by twisting, which directs milled material away from the user.

Benefits of technology

Enables quick and efficient switching between crushing and removal modes with reduced effort and safety, preventing fragments from flying towards the operator.

Abstract

The invention provides a. dual-purpose tool to remove various hard materials such as ice, slush or crushed concrete from various surfaces. In the invention, the crushing action and the removal of the material action are arranged in the same tool. During operation of the tool, the working mode can be switched from one to another by twisting the tool by half a round. This can be done quickly and with minor effort. The dual functionality of the tool is achieved by machining the other edge of the from behind, closed tool blade to be sharp and the other edge to be indented.

Description

[0001] DUAL-PURPOSE TOOL TO REMOVE HARD MATERIALS FROM SURFACES

[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The invention provides a dual-purpose tool to remove various hard materials such as ice , slush or crushed concrete from various surfaces .

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] There are separate tools for crushing and removal of various hard materials from various surfaces . As an example, iron bar, stamper, rasp and shovel can be mentioned . These can be used for example to crush and remove snow, hard ridges of snow, ice , concrete and mortar from lanes , stairways and floors and to mill various soil surf aces and myceliums . However, by the aid of the exist ing tools only one operation can be accomplished at a time and, for example , for crushing and removal of the crushed product separate tools are needed . Switching between these tools during operation spends time and energy of the worker . The flying fragments due to crushing can also be dangerous for the eyes and face of the worker .

[0006] PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The purpose of the invention is to remove the said drawbacks of the known technology . Especiall y, the purpose of the invention is to introduce a new tool , which can be conveniently used to both crush the material and to remove the crushed materi al from surfaces by pushing . In addition, owing to the closed shape of the backside of the invented tool , the milled material is shooted away from the tool user, and the fragments due to operation are blocked from flying towards the user. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] Concerning the characteristics of the invented ram iron i t is referred to Claim 1 In the invention, the crushing action and the removal of the material are arranged in the same tool . During operation of the tool, the working mode can be changed from one to another by twisting the tool by hal f a round . This can be done quickly and with minor ef fort . The dual functionality of the tool is achieved by machining the other edge of the from behind closed too l blade to be sharp and the other edge to be indented . The blade part is attached to a shaft by a socket .

[0009] In one embodiment of the invention the blade part is metallic and semici rcul ar and the teeth of the indented edge are 10 mm deep and 10 mm wide . The bottoms of the indentat ion cavities are rounded to lower the probability of fatigue fractures . The radius of the semicircle is 50 mm . The blade part can also be made of plastics or compos ite materi al resulting in a lighter tool .

[0010] Signi ficant advantages compared to known technology are achieved by use of the invented ram iron . By one small movement the operating mode of the tool can be switched quickly and wi th minor ef fort from crushing to push and back .

[0011] In addition, the closed form of the backside of the tool blocks fragments from flying towards the worker .

[0012] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the following the invention is explained by referring to the accompanying drawings wherein :

[0013] FIG . 1 is a side view of the blade part and socket ,

[0014] FIG . 2 is a front view of the blade part and socket seen from the side of the indentation, and FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the ram iron

[0015] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0016] Referring to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 a possible embodiment of the ram iron is presented. One edge of the bent blade 1 of FIG. 1 has a sharp beveled edge 2 and the other edge has an indented and partly beveled edge 3. A fastening socket 4 for the shaft is attached to the blade 1. FIG. 2 displays the teeth 5 of the indented edge and indentation cavities 6. FIG. 3 displays the shaft 7 of the ram iron. Switching between the working modes occurs by twisting the ram iron half a round around the shaft 7.

[0017] The invention is not limited solely to the above presented example, rather many variations are possible within the scope of the claims determining the invention.

Claims

CLAIMS1. A ram iron comprising a dual-purpose tool to remove various hard materials such as ice, slush or crushed concrete from various surfaces, characterised by comprising: a blade part (1) , whose one edge (2) is machined to be sharp and the other edge (3) to be indented; the indented edge (3) includes indentation cavities (6) , whose bottoms are rounded and the indentation cavities (6) are entirely beveled to be sharp; the blade part (1) can be attached to the shaft (7) , whereupon switching between the working modes occurs by twisting the ram iron half a round around the shaft (7) ; and the blade part (1) is curved or particularly semicircular.

2. A ram iron in accordance with claim 1 wherein the indented edge (3) is entirely beveled to be sharp.

3. A ram iron in accordance with claims 1 or 2 wherein the blade part (1) is made of metal, plastics or composite material .

4. A ram iron in accordance with any of the claims 1~3 wherein the blade part (1) has a socket (4) enabling the blade part (1) to be attached to the shaft (7) .
