Vehicle control device and vehicle control method

The vehicle control system addresses the instability in yaw moment control by dynamically adjusting braking force distribution between rear and front wheels based on vehicle conditions, ensuring stable operation and extended travel distance even when the steer-by-wire system fails.

Abstract

In one aspect of a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method according to the present invention, when an abnormality occurs in the turning function of a steer-by-wire system, braking moment control for causing a vehicle to generate a yaw moment by using frictional breaking force applied to the wheels of the vehicle is performed in response to a steering operation input to the steering wheel. In the braking moment control, braking-moment braking force to be applied to a first wheel that is a turning wheel and a second wheel that is not a turning wheel is distributed in accordance with the state of the vehicle. As a result, braking moment control can function stably even when there is a change in the vehicle state.
