AI Technical Summary
In existing electronic display products, it is difficult to improve the uniformity of pixel light output, resulting in poor visual effects, especially in large-view angles that are prone to color shifts.
In each pixel unit of the display panel, the sub -pixels are discharged from the inside to the outside, so that the shape of the sub -pixel tends to coincide with the shape of the pixel unit, and set the gap in the outer sub -pixel Differential differences in distributed light and lower voltage drops of the driving voltage.
By uniform distribution of light, the uniformity of pixel out of light is improved, thereby improving the display effect, reducing color bias, and optimizing the uniformity of the driving voltage.

[0025] Modes for Carrying Out the Invention
[0026] In the display panel, the arrangement of pixels will affect the display effect of the display area. In each pixel (which can be called a large pixel), multiple sub-pixels (which can be called sub-pixels) will be set to emit light of any color and any brightness, and the light is composed of the light emitted by different sub-pixels. However, the current pixels are limited by the design of their own structure, and the sub-pixels will have a large offset from the center position of the pixel (such as the centroid), and the offset degree of different sub-pixels is inconsistent, which causes the light emitted by each sub-pixel to not be evenly distributed relative to the center of the pixel, resulting in the visual effect cannot be further improved. For example, at a specific viewing angle, such as a large viewing angle, as the brightness decreases, the human eye will be more likely to distinguish the difference in color, which makes the display area appear to have severe color cast in visual effect.
[0027] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, in each pixel unit, sub-pixels emitting light of different colors are arranged sequentially from the inside to the outside so that the centroid of the sub-pixels tends to coincide with the centroid of the pixel unit, so that the light emitted by the sub-pixels can be evenly distributed relative to the centroid of the pixel unit, thereby solving the above-mentioned problem.
[0028] In addition, for the above design, if the sub-pixels are in a ring shape, the inner sub-pixels will be completely separated by the outer sub-pixels. When driving the sub-pixels to emit light, there will be a large voltage drop between adjacent sub-pixels, resulting in too large a difference in the driving voltage (common voltage) of the sub-pixels. This will affect the light output brightness (grayscale) of the sub-pixels, resulting in the display effect of the display panel failing to meet user needs.
[0029] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, in each pixel unit, the outer sub-pixels (except the innermost sub-pixels) are set to have a gap to present a non-closed ring, so that the driving current can enter from the gap of the sub-pixel, thereby solving the above-mentioned technical problems. The display panel includes a plurality of pixel units, each pixel unit includes a plurality of sub-pixels that respectively emit light of different colors. In each pixel unit, the plurality of sub-pixels are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside, the centroid of the pixel unit is located in the innermost sub-pixel, and at least one of the sub-pixels located on the outside is set to a non-closed ring including at least one gap, and the gap connects the inside and outside of the sub-pixel. In this way, the sub-pixels in each pixel unit are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside, which is equivalent to the sub-pixels being roughly evenly distributed relative to the centroid of the pixel unit, so as to improve the uniformity of light emission, thereby improving the display effect; in addition, by setting the opening, the voltage drop difference between the inner and outer pixel units during driving can be reduced, avoiding excessive voltage drop of the inner sub-pixels.
[0030] Furthermore, at least one embodiment of the present disclosure provides a display panel comprising a substrate and an isolation structure located on the substrate. The isolation structure includes a plurality of first openings, the first openings being divided into a plurality of opening groups, each opening group including a plurality of first openings. In each opening group, the centroid of the opening group is located in the innermost first opening, the first openings are arranged sequentially from the inside out, and at least one of the outer first openings is a non-closed ring. The first openings can be used to define the position of sub-pixels, thereby achieving the technical effects mentioned in the above embodiments, which will not be further described here.
[0031] In addition, at least one embodiment of the present disclosure provides a display panel, which may include a substrate and a plurality of first electrodes located on the substrate, the first electrodes are divided into a plurality of electrode groups, each electrode group includes a plurality of first electrodes, and in each electrode group, the centroid of the electrode group is located in the innermost first electrode, the first electrodes are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside, and the first electrodes located on the outside are closed rings. The position and shape of the first electrode will limit the specific position and shape of the sub-pixel, so this design can also make the light emitted by each pixel uniformly distributed relative to the centroid of the pixel unit (equivalent to the center position) to improve the display effect of the display panel. The "outside" in the present disclosure refers to the position other than the innermost side.
[0032] The structure of a display panel according to at least one embodiment of the present disclosure is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In these drawings, a spatial rectangular coordinate system is established with the surface of the display panel (e.g., its display surface, equivalent to the surface of the substrate described in subsequent embodiments) as a reference to illustrate the positional relationships of various structures in the display panel. In this spatial rectangular coordinate system, the X-axis and Y-axis are parallel to the surface of the display panel, and the Z-axis is parallel to the surface of the display panel.
[0033] As shown in Figures 1 to 3 and Figure 8, the planar area of the display panel 10 includes a display area 11 and a border area 12 located on at least one side of the display area 11. A plurality of pixel units 100 are arranged in the display area 11. Each pixel unit 100 includes a plurality of sub-pixels that respectively emit light of different colors, such as a first sub-pixel 101, a second sub-pixel 102, and a third sub-pixel 103. In each pixel unit 100, the plurality of sub-pixels are arranged sequentially from the inside to the outside, with the centroid of the pixel unit 100 located in the innermost sub-pixel, and at least one of the outer sub-pixels is configured as a non-closed ring including at least one gap, where the gap connects the inner and outer sides of the sub-pixel. In this way, the first sub-pixel 101, the second sub-pixel 102 and the third sub-pixel 103 are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside, and the first sub-pixel 101, the second sub-pixel 102 and the third sub-pixel 103 are roughly evenly distributed relative to the centroid of the pixel unit 100, thereby improving the uniformity of light output from the pixel unit 100 and improving the display effect of the display panel 10; in addition, by setting an opening (i.e., a notch), the voltage drop difference between the inner and outer pixel units 100 during driving can be reduced, thereby avoiding excessive voltage drop of the inner sub-pixels.
[0034] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the number of sub-pixels in each pixel unit can be set to three as shown in Figure 2. For example, the first sub-pixel 101, the second sub-pixel 102, and the third sub-pixel 103 respectively emit red light, green light, and blue light (the three primary colors). In other embodiments of the present disclosure, the pixel unit may also include four or more sub-pixels. For example, in addition to the three primary colors mentioned above, additional sub-pixels may emit yellow light, white light, etc. The number and light output type of the sub-pixels included in each pixel unit can be set according to actual process requirements and are not limited in the embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0035] For example, in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in Figures 1 to 5 and Figure 8, the display panel 10 may include a substrate 20 and a display function layer located on the substrate 20, the display function layer including a plurality of light-emitting devices 120, and the light-emitting devices 120 are the physical structure of the sub-pixel. A sub-pixel may include one light-emitting device 120 (for example, as shown in Figure 2), or a sub-pixel may include multiple light-emitting devices 120 (for example, as shown in Figure 9 below, where one light-emitting device is provided in each sub-opening), wherein the first electrodes of the multiple light-emitting devices 120 in the same sub-pixel may be connected to each other.
[0036] The light-emitting device 120 includes a first electrode 121 and a second electrode 122 stacked on a substrate 20, and a light-emitting functional layer 123 located between the first electrode 121 and the second electrode 122. The light-emitting functional layer 123 may include a first functional layer 1231, a light-emitting layer 1232, and a second functional layer 1233, which are sequentially stacked on the first electrode 121. The first functional layer 1231 may include a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an electron blocking layer, etc., and the second functional layer 1233 may include an electron injection layer, an electron transport layer, a hole blocking layer, etc.
[0037] For example, the first electrode 121 may be an anode, and the second electrode 122 may be a cathode. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the cathodes of the sub-pixels may be independently controlled, that is, the cathodes of different sub-pixels are not directly or indirectly electrically connected together. For example, the cathodes of the sub-pixels may be connected to an external circuit via a separately provided wiring, or may be connected to an external circuit via the isolation structure described below (which may be provided as a wiring comprising a conductive portion); alternatively, the cathodes of the sub-pixels may be electrically connected together to serve as a common electrode. For example, these cathodes may be indirectly connected together via the conductive portion of the isolation structure described in the following embodiments, and then connected to an external control circuit (e.g., a common electrode line).
[0038] For example, in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in Figures 1 to 8, the display panel may further include an isolation structure 200 located on the substrate 20, the isolation structure 200 includes a plurality of first openings 201 for respectively limiting the sub-pixels (the light-emitting devices 120 included therein), the light-emitting functional layers 123 of the sub-pixels are located in the corresponding first openings 201, and the orthographic projection of the isolation structure 200 on the substrate 20 is located within the gaps and notches of the orthographic projection of the sub-pixels on the substrate 20, that is, the position of the first opening 201 is the position of the sub-pixel. By surrounding a plurality of first openings 201, the isolation structure 200 is actually in a grid shape. During the preparation of the light-emitting functional layer 123, the various film layers in the light-emitting functional layer 123 can be evaporated on the entire surface. At the edge of the isolation structure 200, due to the presence of the step difference, the various film layers in the light-emitting functional layer 123 will be disconnected, so that the light-emitting functional layer 123 is completely located in the first opening 201. In this way, the preparation of the light-emitting functional layer 123 does not require mask alignment, that is, there is no problem of positioning accuracy, so that the position of the sub-pixel can be accurately located so that the centroid of the sub-pixel is substantially coincident with the centroid of the pixel unit 100. Regarding the principle that the grid-shaped isolation structure 200 can accurately control the setting position of the sub-pixel, please refer to the relevant description of the embodiments shown in Figures 15A to 15D below, which will not be repeated here.
[0039] For example, as shown in FIG8 , the isolation structure 200 has a first end 210 facing the substrate 20 and a second end 220 facing away from the substrate 20, and the orthographic projection of the first end 210 on the substrate 20 is located within the orthographic projection of the second end 220 on the substrate 20. That is, the isolation structure 200 is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. This can enhance the isolation structure 200's ability to block the light-emitting function 123. In this case, the first end 210 can be called an isolation column, and the second end 220 can be called a crown.
[0040] The first end 210 and the second end 220 included in the isolation structure 200 can be a double-layer structure as shown in Figure 8, or can be a single-layer structure, that is, the first end 210 and the second end 220 are an integrated structure, which can be specifically designed according to the actual process requirements and will not be elaborated here.
[0041] For example, as shown in FIG8 , the second electrode 122 of the sub-pixel is located in the corresponding first opening 201 , the second electrode 122 is connected to the first end 210 , and the first end 210 is a conductive structure, that is, the second electrode 122 and the first end 210 constitute a common electrode.
[0042] The thickness of the second electrode 122 is set as thin as possible to ensure sufficient light transmittance. However, this also results in a larger square resistance of the second electrode 122, resulting in a large voltage drop when driving the second electrode 122, thereby affecting the grayscale control of the sub-pixel. In the embodiment of the present disclosure, the isolation structure 200 is provided with a sufficiently large height to define the position of the light-emitting device. Therefore, when at least a portion of the first end portion 210, such as the first end portion 210, is configured as a conductive structure, current will primarily pass through the isolation structure 200 to enter the second electrode 122 of the inner sub-pixel. Since the isolation structure 200 is located between the sub-pixels and does not need to be light-transmissive, the conductive structure of the isolation structure 200, such as the first end portion 210, can be made of a highly conductive material, such as metal, thereby alleviating or even eliminating the voltage drop problem.
[0043] For example, as shown in Figure 8, the display panel also includes a pixel defining layer 300 located between the substrate 20 and the isolation structure 200, the pixel defining layer 300 includes a plurality of second openings 301 corresponding to the plurality of first openings 201 respectively, the orthographic projections of the second openings 301 on the substrate 20 are located within the orthographic projections of the corresponding first openings 201 on the substrate 20, and the pixel defining layer 300 is located between the first electrode 121 and the isolation structure 200.
[0044] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, both the isolation structure and the anode limit the position and overall shape of the sub-pixel. Therefore, based on the arrangement of the sub-pixels in the above embodiments, the arrangement of the isolation structure and the anode may be as follows.
[0045] For example, in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in Figures 1, 4, 5 and 8, the display panel 10 includes an isolation structure 200 located on a substrate 20, and the isolation structure 200 includes a plurality of first openings 201, and the first openings 201 are divided into a plurality of opening groups (all the first openings shown in Figure 5 constitute an opening group), each opening group includes a plurality of first openings 201, and in each opening group, the first openings 201 can be divided into first-type openings 201a, second-type openings 201b and third-type openings 201c, and the first-type openings 201a, second-type openings 201b and third-type openings 201c are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside, and the centroid of the opening group is located in the innermost first-type opening 201a, and at least one of the second-type openings 201b and the third-type openings 201c located on the outside is a non-closed ring. In this way, the position and shape of the first opening 201 are roughly the position and shape of the sub-pixel (or the light-emitting device included therein).
[0046] As shown in Figure 5, in the area where each opening group is located, the isolation structure 200 includes three annular portions 202a, 202b, and 202c and two connecting portions 203a and 203b. The annular portions 202a, 202b, and 202c respectively surround the first type of opening 201a, the second type of opening 201b, and the third type of opening 201c. The connecting portions 203a and 203b are respectively located in the gaps corresponding to the second type of opening 201b and the third type of opening 201c, and the connecting portion 203a is located between the annular portions 202a and 202b to connect the annular portions 202a and 202b. The connecting portion 203b is located between the annular portions 202b and 202c to connect the annular portions 202b and 202c.
[0047] For example, in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in Figures 1, 6 to 8, the display panel 10 may include a plurality of first electrodes 121 located on a substrate 20, the first electrodes 121 being divided into a plurality of electrode groups 110, each electrode group 110 including a plurality of first electrodes 121, and in each electrode group 110, the first electrodes 121 being divided into electrodes 111, 112, and 113, which are arranged sequentially from the inside out. In each electrode group 110, the centroid of the electrode group 110 is located in the innermost electrode 111, and the outer electrodes 112 and 113 are closed rings. For example, the orthographic projection of the first opening 201 on the substrate 20 is located within the orthographic projection of the first electrode 121 of the corresponding sub-pixel on the substrate 20. In this way, the light-emitting functional layer 123 in the sub-pixel can all be in contact with the first electrode 121, so that the anode voltage can be applied to each region of the light-emitting functional layer 123.
[0048] For example, in each sub-pixel, the edge of the first electrode 121 is roughly conformal to the outer edge or inner edge of the adjacent sub-pixel. Specifically, referring to Figures 3 and 7, the edge of the middle sub-pixel is arc-shaped, and accordingly, the edge of the first electrode 121 included in the middle sub-pixel is also arc-shaped.
[0049] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, there are no restrictions on the number of sub-pixels with notches in each pixel unit, and the number of notches in each sub-pixel is designed based on actual process requirements. The following describes several specific embodiments of the above-mentioned different options, along with the positions and shapes of the sub-pixels under each option, as well as the specific configuration of other structures involved, such as the isolation structure and the first electrode.
[0050] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, referring again to Figures 2 and 3, except for the innermost sub-pixel (first sub-pixel 101), the remaining sub-pixels (second sub-pixel 102 and third sub-pixel 103) are configured to include at least one gap. In this way, in each pixel unit 100, the voltage drop difference between any sub-pixels can be basically ignored, thereby further improving the display effect of the display panel. In addition, correspondingly, referring to Figures 4 and 5, in each opening group, except for the innermost first opening 201, the remaining first openings 201 are configured to be non-closed rings.
[0051] For example, in at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, the preset positions of the sub-pixels can be adjusted so that the centroid of the innermost sub-pixel (the first sub-pixel 101) coincides with the centroid of the pixel unit 100; and / or the centroid of the outermost sub-pixel coincides with the centroid of the pixel unit 100; and / or the centroid of the ring in which the outer edges of the sub-pixels located between the outermost sub-pixel and the innermost sub-pixel are located coincides with the centroid of the pixel unit 100.
[0052] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, in each pixel unit 100, the centroid of at least one sub-pixel is substantially coincident with the centroid of the pixel unit 100. For example, referring again to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 , the centroid of the first sub-pixel 101 is completely coincident with the centroid of the pixel unit 100. The centroids of the second sub-pixel 102 and the third sub-pixel 103 are slightly different from the centroid of the pixel unit 100 due to a gap, and the two centroids are roughly coincident. In this way, the uniformity of light output from each sub-pixel in the pixel unit 100 can be improved, thereby further improving the display effect of the display panel. In addition, correspondingly, referring to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 , in each opening group, the centroid of each first opening 201 is substantially coincident with the centroid of the opening group; referring to FIG. 6 and FIG. 7 , in each electrode group 110, the centroid of each first electrode is coincident with the centroid of the electrode group 110.
[0053] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the specific pattern shape of the sub-pixel can be further planned to reduce the offset error between the sub-pixel and the centroid of the pixel unit in which it is located.
[0054] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, referring again to Figures 2 and 3 , in each pixel unit 100, at least one sub-pixel is symmetrical about the centroid of the pixel unit 100. This allows the sub-pixels to be evenly distributed around the centroid of the pixel unit 100, further improving the display quality of the display panel. Accordingly, referring again to Figures 4 and 5 , in each opening group, at least one first opening 201 is symmetrical about the centroid of the opening group.
[0055] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as can be seen again in Figures 2 and 3 , the adjacent edges of adjacent sub-pixels are conformal; correspondingly, as can be seen in Figures 4 and 5 , the adjacent edges of adjacent first openings 201 are conformal. This can reduce the gap between adjacent sub-pixels, increase the design area of the sub-pixels, and thus improve display brightness.
[0056] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring again to Figures 2 and 3 , the shape of the outer edge of the outermost sub-pixel is different from the shape of the inner edge; accordingly, referring to Figures 4 and 5 , the shape of the outer edge of the outermost first opening 201 is different from the shape of the inner edge. In this way, the overall shape of the pixel unit will not be restricted by the shape of the inner sub-pixel, which facilitates the arrangement of pixel units in the display area to increase the pixel unit arrangement density (PPI). When defining the inner and outer edges of a "sub-pixel" in the present disclosure, both refer to the portion of the sub-pixel that effectively emits light.
[0057] In other embodiments of the present disclosure, the outer edge of the outermost sub-pixel conforms to the inner edge (see the embodiment described in FIG11 below); accordingly, as shown in FIG4 and FIG5 , the outer edge of the outermost first opening 201 conforms to the inner edge. This allows the light-emitting areas of the outermost sub-pixels to be evenly distributed relative to the center of the pixel unit.
[0058] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring again to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 , each pixel unit 100 includes sub-pixels categorized as a first sub-pixel 101, a second sub-pixel 102, and a third sub-pixel 103. The first sub-pixel 101 and the third sub-pixel 103 are both symmetrical about the centroid of the pixel unit 100. The second sub-pixel 102 is an axially symmetrical pattern. The second sub-pixel 102 includes a single notch, and the third sub-pixel 103 includes multiple notches. The third sub-pixel 103 includes multiple third sub-pixel blocks (four in FIG. 3 ) separated by the notches. The axis of symmetry of the second sub-pixel 102 passes through the notch of the second sub-pixel 102 and the centroid of the pixel unit 100. Correspondingly, referring to Figures 4 and 5, the first openings 201 included in each opening group are classified into first-class openings 201a, second-class openings 201b and third-class openings 201c. The first-class openings 201a, the second-class openings 201b and the third-class openings 201c are arranged in sequence from the inside to the outside. The first-class openings 201a and the third-class openings 201c are symmetrical about the centroid of the opening group. The second-class openings 201b are axially symmetrical figures. The second-class openings 201b include one notch, the third-class openings 201c include multiple notches, and the third-class openings 201c include multiple third sub-openings separated by notches, and the symmetry axis of the second-class openings 201b passes through the notch of the second-class openings 201b and the centroid of the opening group.
[0059] In other embodiments of the present disclosure, as shown in FIG9 , the first sub-pixel 101, the second sub-pixel 102, and the third sub-pixel 103 are all symmetrical about the centroid of the pixel unit 100. The second sub-pixel 102 and the third sub-pixel 103 each include a plurality of notches. The second sub-pixel 102 includes a plurality of second sub-pixel blocks separated by notches, and the third sub-pixel 103 includes a plurality of third sub-pixel blocks separated by notches. Correspondingly, referring to FIG10 , the first type of opening 201a, the second type of opening 201b, and the third type of opening 201c are all symmetrical about the centroid of the opening group. The second type of opening 201b and the third type of opening 201c each include a plurality of notches. [0060] In the embodiment of the present disclosure, there is no limitation on the specific shape of the sub-pixel. As shown in FIG9 and FIG11 to FIG13 , the shape of the edge of the sub-pixel is at least one of a circle, a triangle, a rectangle, and a parallelogram.
[0061] The pattern shapes shown in FIG. 9 , FIG. 12 and FIG. 13 can be helpful in reducing the spacing between pixel units to increase the arrangement density PPI of the pixel units.
[0062] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, referring back to FIG. 8 , the display panel may further include a protective layer 410 that covers at least the light-emitting devices 120 to protect the film layers of the light-emitting devices 120 during the display panel manufacturing process. The light-emitting devices 120 emitting different light are manufactured independently, but the film layers (evaporated film layers, such as the light-emitting functional layer) in each light-emitting device 120 are evaporated onto the entire surface of the display panel. For example, the light-emitting device 120 is classified into a light-emitting device 120 that emits red light (R, for example, corresponding to the first sub-pixel), green light (G, for example, corresponding to the second sub-pixel) and blue light (B, for example, corresponding to the third sub-pixel), respectively. During the preparation process, the light-emitting devices R, G, and B are prepared in sequence. When preparing the light-emitting device R, a light-emitting device R is formed in each first opening, and a protective layer 410 is prepared on the display panel to cover the light-emitting device G. Then, the protective layer 410 in some of the first openings (used to form the light-emitting devices G and B in the final product) and the cathode and light-emitting functional layer of the light-emitting device R are removed. During this process, the protective layer 410 is used to protect the light-emitting devices R in other first openings. Based on this method, the light-emitting devices G and B are prepared in sequence, and finally the protective layer 410 as shown in Figure 8 is formed.
[0063] In at least one embodiment of the present disclosure, as shown in FIG14 , the display panel may include an encapsulation layer 400 covering the display function layer, and the protective layer 410 may be a film layer in the encapsulation layer 400. Specifically, the encapsulation layer 400 includes a first inorganic encapsulation layer (protective layer 410) and a second inorganic encapsulation layer 420 sequentially stacked on the display function layer, and an organic encapsulation layer 430 located between the first inorganic encapsulation layer (protective layer 410) and the second inorganic encapsulation layer 420. The organic encapsulation layer 430 can flatten the surface of the display panel to facilitate the provision of structures such as a touch function structure, an optical film, and a cover plate on the light-emitting side of the display panel.
[0064] Next, the manufacturing process of the display panel shown in FIG. 8 will be described with reference to FIG. 15A to FIG. 15D .
[0065] As shown in Figure 15A, a substrate 20 is provided and first electrodes 121 arranged in an array are formed on the substrate 20; an insulating material film layer (for example, an inorganic material film layer) is deposited on the substrate 20 on which the first electrodes 121 are formed; a first end 210 and a second end 220 are formed on the display panel, wherein a first opening and a second opening are formed (not shown in the figure, refer to the previous series of figures); the insulating material film layer is subjected to a composition process to form a pixel defining layer 300 (the plane shape is a grid shape), and the pixel defining layer 300 covers the gaps between adjacent first electrodes 121, so that the plane shape of the pixel defining layer 300 is a grid shape.
[0066] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the patterning process may be a photolithography patterning process, which may include, for example, coating a photoresist on a structural layer to be patterned, exposing the photoresist using a mask, developing the exposed photoresist to obtain a photoresist pattern, etching the structural layer using the photoresist pattern (optionally wet etching or dry etching), and then optionally removing the photoresist pattern. In the case where the material of the structural layer (e.g., the photoresist pattern 500 described below) includes photoresist, the structural layer may be directly exposed through a mask to form the desired pattern.
[0067] As shown in Figure 15B , a light-emitting functional layer 123 and a second electrode 122 are evaporated on the substrate 20 to form a light-emitting device 120 in each first opening of the isolation structure 200. No mask is used in this evaporation process, so the evaporated material is also deposited on the second end portion 220 and in the second opening. A protective layer 410 is then deposited to cover the light-emitting device 120. At this stage, the protective layer 410 covers the entire display area. For example, the light-emitting layer 1232 in the evaporated light-emitting functional layer 123 can emit red light (R). That is, at this stage, a light-emitting device 120 emitting red light is formed in each first opening of the isolation structure 200.
[0068] As shown in FIG15C , a photoresist is formed (e.g., coated) on the substrate 20 on which the protective layer 410 is formed, and then patterned to form a photoresist pattern 500. The photoresist pattern 500 only covers a portion of the first opening of the isolation structure 200 (the first opening corresponding to the sub-pixel emitting red light after the display panel is prepared).
[0069] As shown in FIG15D , the surface of the display panel is etched using the photoresist pattern 500 as a mask to remove the protective layer 410 , the second electrode 122 and the light-emitting functional layer 123 covered by the photoresist pattern 500 ; and then the remaining photoresist pattern 500 is removed.
[0070] Repeat the steps of FIG. 15A to FIG. 15D to form a light emitting device 120 emitting green light and a light emitting device 120 emitting blue light in other first openings, respectively, and form the display panel shown in FIG. 8 .
[0071] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, some film layers in the light-emitting unit, such as the light-emitting layer, can be prepared using a non-evaporation method such as inkjet printing. The specific method can be selected according to the material of these film layers. For example, when these film layers are made of polymer materials and are not suitable for evaporation, inkjet printing can be used to prepare them.
[0072] For example, in an embodiment of the present disclosure, the display panel may further include an encapsulation layer covering the display function layer, which may isolate the light-emitting devices in the display function layer and has a flattening function, so as to facilitate the provision of functional structures such as a touch function layer, a polarizer, a lens layer, and a cover plate on the encapsulation layer. For example, the encapsulation layer may include a first inorganic encapsulation layer, an organic encapsulation layer, and a second inorganic encapsulation layer sequentially stacked on the display function layer, the first inorganic encapsulation layer and the second inorganic encapsulation layer having high density to isolate water, oxygen, etc., the organic encapsulation layer having a large thickness and a flattening function. For example, in the case where the aforementioned protective layer is provided in the display panel, the protective layer may be independently provided to be located between the first encapsulation layer and the display function layer, or may serve as the first inorganic encapsulation layer.
[0073] For example, in the embodiments of the present disclosure, the display panel may be any product or component with a display function, such as a television, a digital camera, a mobile phone, a watch, a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a navigator.
[0074] The above description is only a preferred embodiment of this specification and is not intended to limit this specification. Any modifications, equivalent replacements, etc. made within the spirit and principles of this specification should be included in the scope of protection of this specification.
