[0001] Cross-citation with related applications
[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0104405, filed August 9, 2023, and Korean Patent Application No. 10-2024-0083044, filed June 25, 2024, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
[0003] Technology field
[0004] The present invention relates to a backup battery assembly, and more particularly, to a backup battery assembly that supplies current to a vehicle door lock to unlock the vehicle door lock when the main power of the vehicle door lock is cut off.
[0005] Secondary batteries (rechargeable batteries) are rechargeable and dischargeable, unlike primary batteries, which are non-rechargeable. Low-capacity secondary batteries are used in small, portable electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops, and camcorders, while high-capacity batteries are widely used as power sources for motors in hybrid vehicles and other vehicles.
[0006] In particular, the secondary battery can be used as a main power source to supply current to an electronic door lock installed in a vehicle door, thereby locking or unlocking the vehicle door. However, if the main power source is interrupted, current is not supplied to the door lock, resulting in the vehicle door being unable to be locked or unlocked.
[0007] To solve this problem, a method was devised to supply current to the vehicle door lock using a backup battery in situations where the main power supply is cut off and it is impossible to supply current to the vehicle door lock.
[0008] However, if the backup battery case is impacted by an accident such as a collision while the vehicle is being driven, the backup battery can be damaged and unable to supply current to the vehicle door lock. In particular, if the backup battery case is impacted by an accident such as a collision while the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle door cannot be unlocked due to the damage to the backup battery, which can trap the user inside the accident vehicle.
[0009] The present invention has been conceived in recognition of the above problems, and provides a backup battery assembly capable of supplying current to a vehicle door lock by preventing damage to the backup battery even when the backup battery case is damaged by an external impact.
[0010] A backup battery assembly according to the present invention comprises: a backup battery for supplying current to a vehicle door lock when the main power of the vehicle door lock is cut off; a backup battery case for accommodating the backup battery; and a protection block installed inside the backup battery case to protect the backup battery, wherein the protection block comprises: a first end coupled to one side of the interior of the backup battery case; a second end coupled to the other side of the interior of the backup battery case; and a connecting portion connecting the first end and the second end between the first end and the second end, wherein an area of a cross-section in a width direction (hereinafter, a first direction) of the backup battery case of the first end and the second end is wider than an area of a cross-section in the first direction of the connecting portion, and the protection block may be a rigid block made of SUS, aluminum, or steel.
[0011] The width of the first direction cross-section of the first end may become wider as it goes from the connection part toward one side inside the backup battery case, and the width of the first direction cross-section of the second end may become wider as it goes from the connection part toward the other side inside the backup battery case.
[0012] The area of the first direction cross-section of the above connecting portion may be constant.
[0013] The shapes of the first end and the second end may be symmetrical with respect to the connecting portion.
[0014] The above backup battery may be a cylindrical battery formed to extend in the longitudinal direction of the backup battery case.
[0015] The height direction (hereinafter, second direction) length of the backup battery case of the above protection block may be longer than the diameter length of the backup battery.
[0016] The second direction length of the above connecting portion may be shorter than the diameter length of the backup battery.
[0017] The above backup battery case may include a backup battery mounting portion in which the backup battery is mounted.
[0018] The backup battery mounting portion may include a first mounting portion installed on one side inside the backup battery case; and a second mounting portion installed on the other side inside the backup battery case.
[0019] Each of the first and second mounting portions may have a curved mounting surface formed corresponding to the side shape of the backup battery.
[0020] The above backup battery case may be characterized by being made of an insulating material.
[0021] A plurality of backup batteries are installed inside the backup battery case along the width direction of the backup battery case, and the protection block can be installed between each of the backup batteries.
[0022] Meanwhile, one backup battery is installed inside the backup battery case, and the protection block can be installed on both sides of the backup battery along the width direction of the backup battery case.
[0023] In addition, a plurality of protection blocks are installed inside the backup battery case along the width direction of the backup battery case, and the backup battery can be installed between each of the protection blocks.
[0024] An empty space may be formed inside at least one of the first end and the second end.
[0025] The width of the empty space formed inside the first end may become narrower as it approaches the connecting portion.
[0026] The width of the empty space formed inside the second end may become narrower as it approaches the connecting portion.
[0027] The backup battery assembly according to the present invention is installed inside a backup battery case and has wide cross sections at the upper and lower portions, and includes a protection block made of a rigid material such as SUS, aluminum, or steel, thereby preventing damage to the backup battery even when the backup battery case is damaged by an external impact, thereby having the advantageous effect of supplying current to a vehicle door lock.
[0028] In particular, the backup battery assembly according to the present invention has the advantageous effect of minimizing the size of the external force transmitted to the backup battery even when an impact is applied to the backup battery case, since the height of the protection block installed inside the backup battery case is formed to be longer than the diameter of the backup battery having a cylindrical shape.
[0029] In addition, the backup battery assembly according to the present invention has the advantageous effect of preventing the backup battery from shaking even when an impact is applied to the backup battery case, as it includes a backup battery mounting portion in which the backup battery is mounted.

[0039] In addition, terms or words used in this specification and claims should not be interpreted as limited to their usual or dictionary meanings, but should be interpreted as meanings and concepts that conform to the technical idea of the present invention based on the principle that the inventor can appropriately define the concept of the term to explain his or her own invention in the best way.
[0040] Hereinafter, a membrane connection system according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0041]
[0042] Example 1
[0043] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a backup battery assembly according to Embodiment 1 of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line AA of FIG. 1.
[0044] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a backup battery assembly according to the present invention includes a backup battery (1) that supplies current to a vehicle door lock when the main power of the vehicle door lock is cut off, a backup battery case (10) that accommodates the backup battery (1), and a protection block (20) that is installed inside the backup battery case (10) to protect the backup battery (1). Here, the protection block (20) includes a first end (21) coupled to one side inside the backup battery case (10), a second end (22) coupled to the other side inside the backup battery case (10), and a connecting portion (23) connecting the first end (21) and the second end (22) between the first end (21) and the second end (22), and the width of the cross-section of the first end (21) and the second end (22) in the width direction (hereinafter, the first direction) of the backup battery case (10) can be formed to be wider than the width of the cross-section of the first direction of the connecting portion (23).
[0045] Specifically, the first direction cross-section area of the first end (21) and the second end (22) of the protection block (20) is formed wider than the first direction cross-section area of the connection portion (23), so that the protection block (20) is formed relatively thick in the portion that directly contacts the backup battery case (10). In this case, the protection block (20) can effectively absorb the impact applied to the backup battery case (10), so that even when the backup battery case (10) is impacted by a vehicle collision or the like, the backup battery can be effectively protected.
[0046] In addition, according to the above structure of the protection block (20), in the backup battery installation space formed between two neighboring protection blocks (20), the distance between two neighboring connecting portions (23) is greater than the distance between two neighboring first ends (21) or two neighboring second ends (22). That is, since the backup battery installation space has a wide central area, the backup battery (1) can be installed in the central area that is not adjacent to the backup battery case (10). At this time, since a predetermined gap may exist between the backup battery case (10) and the backup battery (1), even when an external impact is applied to the backup battery case (10), the amount of impact transmitted to the backup battery (1) can be minimized.
[0047] These protective blocks (20) may be rigid blocks that are not easily destroyed by external forces. The rigid convex blocks may be composed of SUS, aluminum, or steel. A rigid block made of SUS has the advantageous effects of high corrosion resistance and high processability, while a rigid block made of aluminum has the advantageous effects of good formability and light weight. In addition, a rigid block made of steel has the advantageous effects of high tensile strength and yield strength, resulting in excellent durability.
[0048] Meanwhile, the width of the first direction cross-section of the first end (21) may increase as it goes from the connection part (23) side toward one side inside the backup battery case (10), and the width of the first direction cross-section of the second end (22) may increase as it goes from the connection part (23) side toward the other side inside the backup battery case (10). That is, the protection block (20) may include a first end (21) and a second end (22) whose first direction cross-section widths increase as they go toward both ends.
[0049] In this case, since the thickness of the first end (21) and the second end (22) gradually increases from the center to both ends, a step in which the thickness changes abruptly is not formed at the first end (21) and the second end (22). According to the above structure of the protection block (20), a step in which stress is concentrated is not formed at the first end (21) and the second end (22), so that even when an external force is transmitted to the protection block (20), there is an advantageous effect in which the first end (21) and the second end (22) are not easily damaged.
[0050] Even when the first direction cross-section area of the first end (21) and the second end (22) increases toward one side and the other side inside the backup battery case (10), respectively, the first direction cross-section area of the connection portion (23) can be maintained constant. In this case, since no step is formed in the connection portion (23), there is an advantageous effect that the connection portion (23) is not easily damaged even when an external force is transmitted to the protection block (20).
[0051] The thickness of each of the first end (21) and the second end (22) gradually increases from the connection part (23) toward both ends, the thickness of the connection part (23) is maintained constant, and the thickness of the portion adjacent to the connection part (23) of the first end (21) and the second end (22) can be formed to be substantially the same as the thickness of the connection part (23). In this case, since no step is formed on the entire protection block (20), there is an advantageous effect that the protection block (20) is not easily damaged even when an external force is transmitted to the protection block (20).
[0052] Meanwhile, the backup battery case (10) may be composed of a first case (11) and a second case (12). There is no particular limitation on the method of joining the first case (11) and the second case (12), and each of the first case (11) and the second case (12) may be provided with protrusions and grooves so that the first case (11) and the second case (12) may be fitted together. Meanwhile, the first case (11) and the second case (12) may also be joined together as one piece by soldering.
[0053] The first end (21) and the second end (22) may have shapes that are symmetrical with respect to the connection portion (23). Specifically, the first end (21) and the second end (22) may be formed symmetrically along the height direction (hereinafter, the second direction) of the backup battery case (1) with respect to the connection portion (23).
[0054] Meanwhile, there are no special restrictions on the shape and type of the backup battery (1) installed in the aforementioned backup battery installation space. For example, the backup battery (1) may be a cylindrical battery formed to extend in the longitudinal direction (hereinafter, the third direction) of the backup battery case.
[0055] The second direction length (h1) of the protection block (20) may be longer than the diameter (D) of the backup battery (1). That is, some gap may exist between the backup battery case (10) and the backup battery (1). In this case, even if an external impact, such as a vehicle collision, is applied to the backup battery case (10), the impact is not directly transmitted to the backup battery (1), thereby providing the advantageous effect of minimizing damage to the backup battery (1) caused by the external impact.
[0056] The second direction length (h2) of the connecting portion (23) may be shorter than the diameter (D) of the backup battery (1). Here, the diameter (D) of the backup battery (1) is formed to be shorter than the second direction length (h1) of the entire protection block (20) and longer than the second direction length (h2) of the connecting portion (23), so that the backup battery (1) can sufficiently fill the backup battery installation space while maintaining a certain distance from the backup battery case (10). In this case, there is an advantageous effect of preventing external impact from being directly transmitted to the backup battery (1) while simultaneously maximizing the capacity of the backup battery (1).
[0057] Meanwhile, the backup battery case (10) may include a backup battery mounting portion (30) on which the backup battery (1) is mounted. Specifically, the backup battery mounting portion (30) may include a first mounting portion (31) installed on one side of the interior of the backup battery case (10) and a second mounting portion (32) installed on the other side of the interior of the backup battery case (10).
[0058] Specifically, the backup battery case (10) may include a first mounting portion (31) and a second mounting portion (32) that are installed on one side and the other side of the backup battery (1), respectively, to mount the backup battery (1). In this case, the backup battery (1) is mounted in a fixed position inside the backup battery case (10), so that the backup battery (1) can be prevented from moving out of the installation position when an external impact is transmitted to the backup battery case (10).
[0059] In addition, since each of the first mounting portion (31) and the second mounting portion (32) is installed between the backup battery (1) and the backup battery case (10), they can function as a buffering member that buffers external shock transmitted to the backup battery case (10) before it reaches the backup battery (1).
[0060] That is, the first mounting portion (31) and the second mounting portion (32) may be configured to determine the position of the backup battery (1) and support the backup battery (1). Here, the protection block (20) may be configured to prevent the backup battery (1) from being damaged when an external impact is applied to the backup battery case (10), and may be unrelated to determining the position of the backup battery (1) and supporting the backup battery (1).
[0061] Each of the first mounting portion (31) and the second mounting portion (32) may include a mounting surface corresponding to the shape of the backup battery (1). Here, when the backup battery (1) is a cylindrical battery, the mounting surfaces formed in each of the first mounting portion (31) and the second mounting portion (32) may include a curved surface corresponding to the side surface of the cylindrical battery. Meanwhile, the backup battery case (10) may be composed of an insulating material. In this case, there is an advantageous effect of preventing static electricity, etc. generated in the backup battery (1) from leaking out to the outside of the backup battery case (10), thereby protecting electronic components installed around the backup battery case (10).
[0062] The backup battery assembly may have a backup battery case (10) made of an insulating material and a protection block (20) made of stainless steel, aluminum, or steel. In this case, the backup battery assembly may be manufactured by a double injection process in which the protection block (20) is first injected and then the backup battery case (10) is secondarily injected.
[0063] Here, the first injection process is a process of injecting a protection block (20) using a mold, and the second injection process is a process of injecting a backup battery case (10) on top of the firstly injected protection block (20) using a new mold. The backup battery case (10) may include a first case (11) and a second case (12), and the second injection process may be a process of injecting the first case (11) and the second case (12) on top of the firstly injected protection block (20).
[0064] In this way, when utilizing the double injection molding method in the manufacture of the backup battery assembly, the protection block (20) is joined to the backup battery case (10), and thus, no gap is formed between the protection block (20) and the backup battery case (10), which has the advantageous effect of increasing the durability of the product. Furthermore, since the double injection molding method uses a mold, it is suitable for mass production of products, and thus has the advantageous effect of improving the productivity of the backup battery assembly.
[0065] In addition, the backup battery case (10) may be formed by coating an insulating material on a body made of steel, aluminum, or the like. In this case, the backup battery case (10) can secure high rigidity while preventing static electricity generated from the backup battery (1) from leaking out to the outside of the backup battery case (10).
[0066] Here, the insulating material can be coated on the body using various methods. For example, a powder coating process can be used to coat the insulating material on the body.
[0067] Meanwhile, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a plurality of backup batteries (1) are installed inside the backup battery case (10) along the width direction (first direction) of the backup battery case, and protection blocks (20) can be installed between each of the backup batteries (1). In this case, since the backup batteries (1) and protection blocks (20) are installed crosswise along the first direction inside the backup battery case (10), there is an advantageous effect of effectively protecting a plurality of backup batteries (1) accommodated inside the backup battery case (10).
[0068] In addition, according to the above structure of the backup battery assembly, since a protection block (20) is installed between each of the backup batteries (1), the backup batteries (1) must be spaced apart so that a protection block (20) having sufficient rigidity can be installed between them. Here, there is no particular limitation on the spacing between the backup batteries (1). For example, the spacing between the backup batteries (1) may exceed 2 mm so that a protection block (20) having a first direction thickness of 2 mm or more can be installed between the backup batteries (1).
[0069]
[0070] Example 2
[0071] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing a backup battery assembly according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention.
[0072] Embodiment 2 of the present invention differs from Embodiment 1 in that only one backup battery (1) is included inside the backup battery case (10). Common contents with Embodiment 1 will be omitted as much as possible, and Embodiment 2 will be described focusing on the differences. In other words, it is self-evident that contents not described in Embodiment 2, if necessary, may be considered as contents of Embodiment 1.
[0073] Referring to FIG. 3, one backup battery (1) is installed inside the backup battery case (10), and protection blocks (20) can be installed on both sides of the backup battery (1) along the width direction (first direction) of the backup battery case (10). Since one backup battery (1) is installed in the backup battery case (10), miniaturization of the backup battery assembly is possible. In this case, even when the structure of the vehicle door lock is complex or the installation space inside the vehicle door lock is insufficient, the backup battery assembly can be easily installed. In addition, since protection blocks (20) are installed on both sides of the backup battery assembly (1) in the first direction, even when an impact due to a vehicle collision accident, etc. is transmitted to the backup battery case (10), the backup battery (1) can be effectively protected.
[0074] Meanwhile, a protection block (20) is installed between the backup battery (1) and the backup battery case (10), and the gap between the backup battery (1) and the backup battery case (10) must be spaced apart so that a protection block (20) having sufficient rigidity can be installed. For example, the gap between the backup battery (1) and the backup battery case (10) may exceed 2 mm so that a protection block (20) having a first direction thickness of 2 mm or more can be installed between the backup battery (1) and the backup battery case (10).
[0075]
[0076] Example 3
[0077] Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view showing a backup battery according to Example 3 of the present invention.
[0078] Embodiment 3 of the present invention differs from Embodiments 1 and 2 in that a plurality of backup batteries (1) are included inside a backup battery case (10), and protection blocks (20) are installed on both sides of all backup batteries (1). Common contents with Embodiments 1 and 2 will be omitted as much as possible, and Embodiment 3 will be described focusing on the differences. In other words, it is obvious that contents not described in Embodiment 3, if necessary, can be regarded as contents of Embodiments 1 and 2.
[0079] Referring to FIG. 4, a plurality of protection blocks (20) are installed inside the backup battery case (10) along the width direction (first direction) of the backup battery case (10), and the backup battery (1) can be installed between each protection block (20). In this case, the protection blocks (20) can be installed on both sides of the first direction of all the backup batteries (1) included in the backup battery case (10), so that even when an impact due to a vehicle collision accident, etc. is transmitted to the backup battery case (10), the protection effect of all the backup batteries (1) installed in the backup battery case (10) can be maximized.
[0080]
[0081] Example 4
[0082] FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing a backup battery assembly according to Embodiment 4 of the present invention, and FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along the BB direction of FIG. 5.
[0083] Embodiment 4 of the present invention differs from Embodiments 1 to 3 in that a mounting groove (24) in which a backup battery (1) is mounted is formed in the connecting portion (23) of the protection block (20). Common contents with Embodiments 1 to 3 will be omitted as much as possible, and Embodiment 4 will be described focusing on the differences. In other words, it is self-evident that contents not described in Embodiment 4, if necessary, can be regarded as contents of Embodiments 1 to 3.
[0084] Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, a mounting groove (24) is formed in the connecting portion (23) of the protection block (20) into which a backup battery (1) is mounted. Here, the mounting groove (24) is formed to correspond to the shape of the backup battery (1), and the backup battery (1) can be stably accommodated in the mounting groove (24).
[0085] According to the above structure of the protection block (20), even when an external force is transmitted to the backup battery case (10) due to a vehicle collision or the like, the protection block (20) absorbs the impact, which has the advantageous effect of preventing damage to the backup battery (1). In addition, according to the above structure of the protection block (20), even when the backup battery case (10) is shaken by an external impact, the backup battery (1) is stably received on the mounting groove (24), which has the advantageous effect of preventing the backup battery (1) from moving inside the battery case (10) due to the external impact.
[0086] Meanwhile, the backup battery (1) is a cylindrical battery formed to extend in the longitudinal direction (third direction) of the backup battery case (10), and the mounting groove (24) may be an arc-shaped groove into which the side of the cylindrical battery is mounted. Therefore, due to the above-described shape of the mounting groove (24), the connecting portion (23) may be formed to be thinnest in the central portion and may become thicker toward the upper and lower sides. In particular, the thickness of each of the upper and lower portions of the connecting portion (23) may be formed to be substantially the same as the thickness of the second end (22) and the first end (21) described above. According to the above-described structure of the protection block (20), there is an advantageous effect of being able to stably accommodate the backup battery (1), which is a cylindrical battery, inside the battery case (10).
[0087] An insulating coating layer may be formed on the outer surface of the protection block (20) for insulation from the backup battery (1). Here, the insulating coating layer may be coated on the body portion using various methods. For example, the insulating coating layer may be coated on the protection block (20) through a powder coating process. In this case, the insulating coating layer prevents static electricity generated from the backup battery (1) from leaking out to the outside, thereby providing an advantageous effect of protecting electronic components installed around the backup battery case (10).
[0088]
[0089] Example 5
[0090] Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view showing a backup battery assembly according to Example 5 of the present invention.
[0091] Embodiment 5 of the present invention differs from Embodiments 1 to 4 in that an empty space (S) is formed inside at least one of the first end (21) and the second end (22) of the protection block (20). Common contents with Embodiments 1 to 4 will be omitted as much as possible, and Embodiment 5 will be described focusing on the differences. In other words, it is obvious that contents not described in Embodiment 5, if necessary, can be regarded as contents of Embodiments 1 to 4.
[0092] Referring to Fig. 7, an empty space (S1, S2) may be formed inside at least one of the first end (21) and the second end (22) of the protection block (20). The first end (21) and the second end (22) are made of SUS, aluminum, or steel, and since the horizontal cross-section area of the protection block (20) is relatively wide, even when the empty space (S1, S2) is formed inside the first end (21) and the second end (22), the rigidity can be sufficiently secured.
[0093] Accordingly, even when empty spaces (S1, S2) are formed inside the first end (21) and the second end (22), the protection block (20) can sufficiently withstand an impact transmitted from the outside, and can prevent the external impact from being directly transmitted to the backup battery (1) and causing damage to the backup battery (1). In addition, when empty spaces (S1, S2) are formed inside the first end (21) and the second end (22), the weight of the protection block (20) is reduced, which has the advantageous effect of increasing the overall energy density of the backup battery assembly.
[0094] Meanwhile, the width of the empty space (S1) formed inside the first end (21) may become narrower as it goes upward, and the width of the empty space (S2) formed inside the second end (22) may become narrower as it goes downward. That is, the widths of the empty spaces (S1, S2) formed inside the first end (21) and the second end (22), respectively, may become narrower as they get closer to the connecting portion (22).
[0095] The empty space (S1) formed inside the first end (21) and the empty space (S2) formed inside the second end (22) may have a vertically symmetrical structure with respect to the connecting portion (23). In addition, although not shown in Fig. 7, the boundary surfaces of the empty spaces (S1, S2) may both be formed as curved surfaces.
[0096] In this case, no sharp edges are formed inside the first and second ends (21, 22), so even if an external impact is applied to the protection block (20), there is no area where stress is concentrated in the empty spaces (S1, S2) inside the first and second ends (21, 22). Therefore, there is an advantageous effect of preventing the first and second ends (21, 22) from being broken due to the concentration of stress.
[0097]
[0098] Although the present invention has been described above with reference to limited embodiments and drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various embodiments are possible within the scope equivalent to the technical idea of the present invention and the patent claims to be described below by a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the present invention pertains.
