Abstract
Description
SKIP OR ACTIVATE AT LEAST ONE MEASUREMENT GAP OCCASIONTECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates to wireless communications, and more specifically to user equipment (UE) , network entity and methods for skipping or activating at least one measurement gap (MG) occasion of at least one MG configuration.BACKGROUND
[0002] A wireless communications system may include one or multiple network communication devices, such as base stations, which may be otherwise known as an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. Each network communication devices, such as a base station may support wireless communications for one or multiple user communication devices, which may be otherwise known as user equipment (UE) , or other suitable terminology. The wireless communications system may support wireless communications with one or multiple user communication devices by utilizing resources of the wireless communication system (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) . Additionally, the wireless communications system may support wireless communications across various radio access technologies including third generation (3G) radio access technology, fourth generation (4G) radio access technology, fifth generation (5G) radio access technology, among other suitable radio access technologies beyond 5G (e.g., sixth generation (6G)) .
[0003] MG configuration is a technical procedure in 5G networks that enables UEs to temporarily suspend their regular uplink transmission and downlink reception activities to perform inter-frequency or intra-frequency radio resource measurements, e.g., for handover decisions. When a UE is configured with periodical MGs for measurement, the UE is not expected to perform any transmissions or receptions of other signals / channels.
[0004] Extended reality (XR) applications typically requires high throughput and low latency, and have a big packet size, variable data packet size and arrival jitter. The periodicities of XR packets are {33.33ms, 16.67ms, 11.11ms, 8.33ms} . When transmitting or receiving protocol data unit (PDU) sets with tight PDU set delay budget for XR traffic, delaying data transmissions until after the MG may result in unnecessary PDU discarding, which decreases the XR capacity in cells with MGs.
[0005] Therefore, how to indicate at least one skipped or activated MG occasion of at least one MG configuration to UE needs to be studied.SUMMARY

Information and signals described herein may be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, and chips that may be referenced throughout the description may be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.
[0095] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a remote unit, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an internet-of-things (IoT) device, an internet-of-everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples. In some implementations, a UE 104 may be stationary in the wireless communications system 100. In some other implementations, a UE 104 may be mobile in the wireless communications system 100.
[0096] The one or more UEs 104 may be devices in different forms or having different capabilities. Some examples of UEs 104 are illustrated in Fig. 1. A UE 104 may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as the network entities 102, other UEs 104, or network equipment (e.g., the core network 106, the packet data network 108, a relay device, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, or another network equipment) , as shown in Fig. 1. Additionally, or alternatively, a UE 104 may support communication with other network entities 102 or UEs 104, which may act as relays in the wireless communications system 100.
[0097] A UE 104 may also be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link 114. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.
[0098] A network entity 102 may support communications with the core network 106, or with another network entity 102, or both. For example, a network entity 102 may interface with the core network 106 through one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The network entities 102 may communicate with each other over the backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or another network interface) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., between the network entities 102) . In some other implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 106) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .
[0099] In some implementations, a network entity 102 may be configured in a disaggregated architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed among two or more network entities 102, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open radio access network (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance) , or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN) ) . For example, a network entity 102 may include one or more of a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a radio unit (RU) , a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) (e.g., a near-real time RIC (Near-RT RIC) , a non-real time RIC (Non-RT RIC)) , a service management and orchestration (SMO) system, or any combination thereof.
[0100] An RU may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , or a transmission reception point (TRP) . One or more components of the network entities 102 in a disaggregated RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entities 102 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 of a disaggregated RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., a virtual CU (VCU) , a virtual DU (VDU) , a virtual RU (VRU)) .
[0101] Split of functionality between a CU, a DU, and an RU may be flexible and may support different functionalities depending upon which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combinations thereof) are performed at a CU, a DU, or an RU. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between a CU and a DU such that the CU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU may host upper protocol layer (e.g., a layer 3 (L3) , a layer 2 (L2) ) functionality and signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) , service data adaption protocol (SDAP) , packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) ) . The CU may be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and the one or more DUs or RUs may host lower protocol layers, such as a layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or an L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU.
[0102] Additionally, or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between a DU and an RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU may support one or multiple different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs) . In some implementations, a functional split between a CU and a DU, or between a DU and an RU may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions for a protocol layer may be performed by one of a CU, a DU, or an RU, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU) .
[0103] A CU may be functionally split further into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. A CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a midhaul communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u) , and a DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface) . In some implementations, a midhaul communication link or a fronthaul communication link may be implemented in accordance with an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 102 that are in communication via such communication links.
[0104] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.
[0105] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 over one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the core network 106 via a network entity 102. The core network 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server 118 using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106) .
[0106] In the wireless communications system 100, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.
[0107] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.
[0108] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.
[0109] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.
[0110] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.
[0111] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.
[0112] Fig. 2 illustrates a signaling diagram illustrating an example process 200 that supports skipping or activation of at least one MG occasion of at least one MG configuration in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The process 200 may involve the UE 104 and the network entity 102 in Fig. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the process 200 will be described with reference to Fig. 1.
[0113] As shown in Fig. 2, the network entity 102 determines 220 at least one MG occasion of at least one MG configuration.
[0114] In turn, the network entity 102 transmits 230 a first indication to the UE 104. The first indication indicates to skip or activate the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration.
[0115] Hereinafter, the first indication which indicates to skip the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration may be referred to as a skip indication, and the first indication which indicates to activate the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration may be referred to as an activation indication.
[0116] Upon receiving the first indication, the UE 104 skips or activates 240 the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration based on the first indication. Hereinafter, the term “skip” may be used interchangeably with the term “cancel” or “deactivate” . If an MG occasion is skipped, the data transmission between the UE 104 and the network entity 102 can be performed during the MG occasion. If an MG occasion is activated, the data transmission between the UE 104 and the network entity 102 cannot be performed during the MG occasion.
[0117] With the process 200, the UE 104 may skip or activate the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration based on the first indication from the network entity 102.
[0118] In some implementations, before determining the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration, the network entity 102 may transmit 210 one or more MG configurations to the UE 104.
[0119] In some implementations, each of the one or more MG configurations may comprise at least one of the following:
[0120] · a type of an MG of an MG configuration which may be represented by gapType (hereinafter, “a type of one or more MGs of an MG configuration” is also referred to as “an MG type” ) ,
[0121] · an MG length of the MG in ms of the MG, wherein the MG length may be represented by MGL,
[0122] · an MG repetition period in (ms) of the MG, wherein the MG repetition period may be represented by mgrp or MGRP,
[0123] · an MG timing advance which may be represented by mgta,
[0124] · a priority of the MG which may be represented by gappriority,
[0125] · a gap offset of the gap pattern with MGRP indicated in the field mgrp, where the value range is from 0 to mgrp-1; if ncsgInd-r17 is present, this offset value refers to the starting point of VIL1 (the visible interruption length before the ML) , or
[0126] · an identifier (ID) of the MG which may be represented by measGapId.
[0127] In some implementations, a value of gapType may comprise one of the following:
[0128] · perUE which indicates that an MG is a per UE,
[0129] · perFR1 which indicates that an MG is for FR1 measurement, or
[0130] · perFR2 which indicates that an MG is for FR2 measurement.
[0131] Hereinafter, some implementations of skipping the at least one MG occasion will be described.
[0132] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may transmit a second indication to the UE 104. The second indication may indicate which MG type is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication. In such implementations, the second indication may indicate an MG type, and at least one MG occasion of the one or more MG configurations with the MG type is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0133] For example, the second indication may indicate which MG for FR1 measurement is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0134] For another example, the second indication may indicate which MG for FR2 measurement is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0135] For a further example, the second indication may indicate which MG for UE measurement is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0136] In some implementations, the second indication may be included in or separate from the one or more MG configurations.
[0137] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may transmit a third indication to the UE 104. The third indication may indicate which MG configuration is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication. In such implementations, the third indication may indicate one or more MG configurations, and at least one MG occasion of the one or more MG configurations is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0138] For example, the third indication may indicate one or more indexes of the one or more MG configurations, and at least one MG occasion of the one or more MG configurations is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0139] In some implementations, the third indication may be included in or separate from the one or more MG configurations.
[0140] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may transmit a fourth indication to the UE 104. The fourth indication may indicate which MG for which purpose is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication. In such implementations, the fourth indication may indicate a purpose of an MG, and at least one MG occasion for the purpose is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0141] In some implementations, a purpose of an MG may comprise positioning purpose or non-positioning purpose. For example, the non-positioning purpose may comprise purpose for RRM measurements.
[0142] For example, the fourth indication may indicate which MG for positioning is to be indicated to be skipped via the first indication.
[0143] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may configure a total number of one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication. The UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, the total number of the one or more MG occasions. Each of the one or more MG occasions is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. The total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may be equal to or greater than one.
[0144] Alternatively, in some implementations, the network entity 102 may configure the number of one or more MG occasions per MG or per MG configuration. In such implementations, the multiple MG configurations may comprise at least the first MG configuration and a second MG configuration. The UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, a first number of at least one MG occasion of the first MG configuration and a second number of at least one MG occasion of the second MG configuration. The first number of at least one MG occasion and the second number of at least one MG occasion are to be indicated in the first indication. The UE 104 may determine the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated as a first sum of the first number and the second number. The network entity 102 may configure the first number and the second number per UE.
[0145] For example, if the first number for the first MG configuration is equal to 5, and the second number for the second MG configuration is equal to 5, the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated is equal to the first sum (i.e., 10) of the first number and the second number. In the first indication, 5 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the first MG configuration, and another 5 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the second MG configuration.
[0146] For another example, if the first number for the first MG configuration is equal to 3, and the second number for the second MG configuration is equal to 5, the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is equal to the first sum (i.e., 8) of the first number and the second number. In the first indication, 3 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the first MG configuration, and another 5 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the second MG configuration.
[0147] Alternatively, in some implementations, the network entity 102 may configure the number of one or more MG occasions per MG or per MG configuration, and the same number (such as a fifth number) of bits in the first indication may be used for at least one MG occasion of each MG configuration. In such implementations, the UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, the fifth number of at least one MG occasion of each of the multiple MG configurations to be indicated in the first indication. The UE 104 may determine the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication as the fifth number multiplied by the number of the multiple MG configurations.
[0148] Alternatively, in some implementations, the network entity 102 may configure the number of the one or more MG occasions per MG type. In such implementations, the multiple MG configurations may comprise at least a first type of MGs and a second type of MGs. The UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, a third number of at least one MG occasion of the first type of MGs to be indicated in the first indication and a fourth number of at least one MG occasion of the second type of MGs to be indicated in the first indication. The UE 104 may determine the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication as a second sum of the third number and the fourth number.
[0149] For example, if the third number for the first type of MGs is equal to 5, and the fourth number for the second type of MGs is equal to 5, the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is equal to the second sum (i.e., 10) of the third number and the fourth number. In the first indication, 5 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the first type, and another 5 bits may be used for the MG occasions of the second type.
[0150] Alternatively, in some implementations, the total number of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may be predefined.
[0151] In some implementations, the at least one MG occasion to be skipped is in a time window.
[0152] In some implementations, the UE 104 may receive a configuration for the time window from the network entity 102. The configuration for the time window may indicate a length of the time window.
[0153] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine a length of the time window based on the number of at least one measurement gap repetition period (MGRP) . For example, the number of at least one MGRP may be equal to the total number of the multiple MG occasions to be indicated.
[0154] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may determine a length of the time window based on the number of the at least one MG occasion to be skipped. For example, the number of the at least one MG occasion to be skipped may be equal to the total number of the multiple MG occasions to be indicated.
[0155] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the length of the time window based on a sum of numbers of MG occasions per MG configuration. For example, the UE 104 may determine the length of the time window based on the first sum of the first number and the second number.
[0156] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the length of the time window based on a sum of numbers of MGRPs per MG configuration.
[0157] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine a start of the time window based at least on a time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled. In some implementations, the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled may comprise one of the following: symbol, slot, sub-frame, radio frame or millisecond (ms) .
[0158] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the start of the time window as a first MG occasion immediately after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0159] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after the last symbol of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carrying the first indication.
[0160] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after the last symbol of a PDCCH scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) including the first indication.
[0161] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after the last symbol of a PDSCH carrying the first indication.
[0162] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the start of the time window as a second MG occasion immediately after a sixth number of time units after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled. The sixth number may be predefined or configured by the network entity 102. Hereinafter, the sixth number may be represented by X, where X is greater than zero.
[0163] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDCCH carrying the first indication.
[0164] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDCCH scheduling a PDSCH including the first indication.
[0165] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the time window starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDSCH carrying the first indication. In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine an order of one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based on at least one of the following: start time of the one or more MG occasions, indexes of one or more MG configurations for the one or more MG occasions, lengths of the one or more MG occasions, end time of the one or more MG occasions, MG types of the one or more MG occasions, or MG purposes of the one or more MG occasions.
[0166] In some implementations, one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is subsequent one or more MG occasions after receiving the first indication.
[0167] For example, if the start time of two MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is the same as each other, the UE 104 may determine an order of two MG occasions based on indexes of MG configurations associated with the two MG occasions.
[0168] For another example, if the start time of two MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is the same as each other, the UE 104 may determine an order of two MG occasions based on end time of the two MG occasions.
[0169] For a further example, multiple MG occasions of multiple configurations may be indicated in the first indication. MG purposes of the multiple configurations may be different while indexes of the multiple configurations may be the same as each other. In order to determine an order of the multiple MG occasions, a unique index may be configured for each of the multiple configurations. Thus, the UE 104 may determine the order of the multiple MG occasions based on the unique indexes of for the multiple configurations.
[0170] For a still further example, a first MG occasion and a second MG occasion are to be indicated in the first indication. A first MG type of the first MG occasion is for FR1 measurement and a second MG type of the second MG occasion is for FR2 measurement. The UE 104 may determine an order of the two MG occasions in an order of the second MG type and the first MG type.
[0171] For a still further example, a first MG occasion and a second MG occasion are to be indicated in the first indication. A first MG purpose of the first MG occasion is for positioning and a second MG purpose of the second MG occasion is for non-positioning. The UE 104 may determine an order of the two MG occasions in an order of the second MG purpose and the first MG purpose.
[0172] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the order of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based on at least one of the following:
[0173] · a first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions,
[0174] · a second ascending order of indexes of the one or more MG configurations,
[0175] · a third ascending order of lengths of the one or more MG occasions,
[0176] · a fourth ascending order of end time of the one or more MG occasions,
[0177] · a fifth descending order of the lengths of the one or more MG occasions,
[0178] · a sixth descending order of the end time of the one or more MG occasions,
[0179] · a seventh order of MG types of the one or more MG occasions, or
[0180] · an eighth order of MG purposes of the one or more MG occasions.
[0181] · a ninth order of cell group (s) , by which the MG configurations are configured.
[0182] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the order of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based on the order of cell group (s) , by which the MG occasions are configured. For example, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication is in an order of MCG and SCG if the MG occasions are configured by both cell groups.
[0183] For example, the UE 104 may determine the order of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based on a first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. If the start time is same, the UE 104 may determine the order of the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based on a second ascending order of indexes of the one or more MG configurations.
[0184] In some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a first plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are configured for the UE 104. In such implementations, the first indication may indicate to skip one or more MG occasions of all the configured MG configurations. In case of dual connection (DC) , a secondary cell group (SCG) and a master cell group (MCG) may exchange the MG configurations. It is beneficial to have full picture of the MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication and allocate unique index (es) for the MG configuration (s) for the UE 104.
[0185] Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a second plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are configured to be allowed to be skipped or activated. In such implementations, the first indication may indicate to skip one or more MG occasions for part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be skipped. In such implementations, the first indication may indicate to activate one or more MG occasions for part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be activated.
[0186] Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a third plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are activated. In such implementations, the first indication may indicate to skip one or more MG occasions.
[0187] Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a fourth plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are activated and deactivated. In such implementations, the first indication may indicate to skip one or more MG occasions of the activated and deactivated MG configuraiton (s) .
[0188] Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a fifth plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are associated with an MG type determined based on a frequency of a serving cell from which the first indication is received.
[0189] For example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from a cell of FR1, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise one or more MG occasions for FR1 measurement and one or more MG occasions for the UE 104.
[0190] For example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from a cell of FR2, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise one or more MG occasions for FR2 measurement and one or more MG occasions for the UE 104. Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a sixth plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations which are predefined. For example, an MG type of the one or more MG occasions may be predefined or an MG purpose of the one or more MG occasions may be predefined. In such an example, the first indication may indicate to skip one or more MG occasions with the MG type or for the MG purpose.
[0191] Alternatively, in some implementations, the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication may comprise a seventh plurality of MG occasions of MG configurations, which are configured by a cell group determined based on a cell group from which the first indication is received. For example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from MCG, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are configured by the MCG. For another example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from SCG, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are configured by the SCG. In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine a start MG occasion among one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication based at least on a time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled. The start MG occasion among the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication is a start MG occasion among one or more MG occasions to which the first indication is to be applied.
[0192] In some implementations, the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled may comprise one of the following: symbol, slot, sub-frame, radio frame or millisecond (ms) .
[0193] In some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the start MG occasion among one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication as a first MG occasion immediately after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0194] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after the last symbol of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carrying the first indication.
[0195] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after the last symbol of a PDCCH scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) including the first indication.
[0196] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after the last symbol of a PDSCH carrying the first indication.
[0197] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may determine the start MG occasion as a second MG occasion immediately after a sixth number of time units after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled. The sixth number may be predefined or configured by the network entity 102. Hereinafter, the sixth number may be represented by X, where X is greater than zero.
[0198] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDCCH carrying the first indication.
[0199] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDCCH scheduling a PDSCH including the first indication.
[0200] For example, the UE 104 may determine that the one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first indication starts after X time units after the last symbol of a PDSCH carrying the first indication.
[0201] In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap associated with one or more MG occasions, and each of the one or more MG occasions is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with an MG occasion of one of the multiple MG configurations. Each of the bits indicates whether the MG occasion is to be skipped or activated. This will be described with reference to Fig. 3.
[0202] Fig. 3 illustrates an example format of a first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in Fig. 3, the first bitmap is associated with one or more MG occasions (MGOs) . For example, the first bitmap is associated with MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi, where i is the ascending or descending order of start time of the one or more MGOs. Each of MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. A bit associated with MGOi indicates whether MGOi is to be skipped. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates MGOi is to be skipped, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates MGOi is not to be skipped.
[0203] Fig. 4 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 4, the UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap. The UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2, and both MGs are activated.
[0204] For example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions of the one or more MG configurations. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “11” . The first bitmap indicates that an MG occasion 410 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for an MG configuration #2 (represented by MG 2) and an MG occasion 420 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for an MG configuration #1 (represented by MG 1) is to be skipped.
[0205] For another example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 4. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions of one or more MG configurations. Bit values of the first bitmap are “1101” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 410 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2, the MG occasion 420 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG1 and an MG occasion 440 (i.e., MG occasion #4) for MG 1 are to be skipped.
[0206] For a further example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 1.The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions of one or more MG configurations. Bit value of the first bitmap is “1” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 410 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 is to be skipped.
[0207] In some implementations, an MG occasion overlapped with the skipped MG occasion is to be skipped or not, which may be configured by the network entity 102 or predefined. For example, MG occasion #1 for MG 2 is skipped based on the first indication and the MG occasion #2 for MG 1 is overlapped with the skipped MG occasion #1 for MG 2. The MG occasion #2 for MG 1 may be skipped.
[0208] Fig. 5 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 5, the UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap. The UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2. MG 1 is activated, and MG 2 is deactivated.
[0209] For example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions of the one or more MG configuration which are activated. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “11” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 510 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 1 and an MG occasion 520 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 are to be skipped. MG occasions 530 and 540 for MG 2 are not ordered in the first bitmap.
[0210] Fig. 6 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 6, the UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap. The UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2. MG 1 is activated, and MG 2 is deactivated.
[0211] For example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions of the one or more MG configuration which are activated and deactivated. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. An MG occasion 610 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 and an MG occasion 620 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 are ordered in the first bitmap. Bit values of the first bitmap are “01” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 620 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 is to be skipped.
[0212] In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap and a second bitmap. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether at least one MG occasion of a respective one of the MG configurations is mapped to at least one bit in the second bitmap. Each of bits in the second bitmap is associated with an MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations and indicates whether the MG occasion is to be skipped or activated. This will be described with reference to Fig. 7.
[0213] Fig. 7 illustrates example formats of a first bitmap and a second bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 7, each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether at least one MG occasion of a respective one of the MG configurations is mapped to at least one bit in the second bitmap. The MG configurations may be represented by MG0, MG1, …, MGj, where j is the ascending or descending order of indexes of the MG configurations. A bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj indicates whether at least one MG occasion of MGj is mapped to at least one bit in the second bitmap.
[0214] For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates that at least one MG occasion of MGj is mapped to at least one bit in the second bitmap, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates that at least one MG occasion of MGj is not mapped to at least one bit in the second bitmap
[0215] In some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a first plurality of MG configurations which are configured for the UE 104. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the occasions for all the configured MG configurations.
[0216] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a second plurality of MG configurations which are configured to be allowed to be skipped or activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the occasions for part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be skipped or activated.
[0217] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a third plurality of MG configurations which are activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the activated MG configurations.
[0218] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a fourth plurality of MG configurations which are activated and deactivated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the occasions of the activated and deactivated MG configurations.
[0219] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a fifth plurality of MG configurations which are associated with an MG type determined based on a frequency of a serving cell from which the first indication is received. For example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from a Pcell, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are associated with the Pcell. For another example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from a PScell, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are associated with the PScell. Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a sixth plurality of MG configurations which are predefined. For example, an MG type of the MG configurations may be predefined or an MG purpose of the MG configurations may be predefined.
[0220] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a seventh plurality of MG configurations which are configured by a cell group determined based on a cell group from which the first indication is received. For example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from MCG, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are configured by the MCG. For another example, if the UE 104 receives the first indication from SCG, the MG occasions indicated in the first indication are configured by the SCG.
[0221] With continued reference to Fig. 7, the second bitmap is associated with MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi, where i is the ascending or descending order of one or more start time of the one or more MGOs. Each of MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi is associated with one of the MG configurations indicated in the first bitmap. A bit associated with MGOi indicates whether MGOi is to be skipped. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates MGOi is to be skipped, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates MGOi is not to be skipped.
[0222] For example, a value of a bit MG1 in the first bitmap is equal to 1, and a value of a bit MG2 in the first bitmap is equal to 1. MG occasions for MG1 and MG2 are mapped to bits in the second bitmap. In other words, the MG occasions for MG1 and MG2 are ordered or indicated in the second bitmap. For example, the MG occasions for MG1 and MG2 may be ordered based on at least one of the following:
[0223] · a first ascending order of start time of the MG occasions,
[0224] · a second ascending order of indexes of the MG configurations,
[0225] · a third ascending order of lengths of the MG occasions,
[0226] · a fourth ascending order of end time of the MG occasions,
[0227] · a fifth descending order of the lengths of the MG occasions,
[0228] · a sixth descending order of the end time of the MG occasions,
[0229] · a seventh order of MG types of the MG occasions, or
[0230] · an eighth order of MG purposes of the MG occasions.
[0231] · a ninth order of cell group (s) , by which the MG occasions are configured.
[0232] In some implementations, the first indication may indicate to skip or activate a group of MG occasions of a group of MG configurations. In such implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with the group of MG occasions and indicates whether the group of MG occasions is to be skipped or activated. For example, a bit in the first bitmap is associated with MG group j, where j is the ascending or descending order of a time position of a start MGO in the MG group j. Value of the bit associated with MG group j indicates whether MGOs in the MG group j are to be skipped or activated.
[0233] In some implementations, the UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, information about mapping between the group of MG configurations and the MG configurations.
[0234] In some implementations, the UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, a configuration for the number of the MG occasions in the group of MG occasions.
[0235] Alternatively, in some implementations, the group of MG configurations may comprise at least a first MG configuration and a second MG configuration. The UE 104 may receive, from the network entity 102, a second configuration for a first number of at least one MG occasion of the first MG configuration indicated in the first indication and a second number of at least one MG occasion of the second MG configuration indicated in the first indication.
[0236] Fig. 8 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining a group of MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 8, the UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2, and both MGs are activated. A group of MG configurations comprises MG 1 and MG 2. The UE 104 may be configured with the number of the MG occasions in the group of MG occasions. The UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap. For example, the number of the MG occasions in the group of MG occasions may be equal to 4.
[0237] Alternatively, the UE 104 may be configured with a first number of MG occasions for MG 1 and a second number of MG occasions for MG 2. For example, the first number may be equal to 2, and the second number may be equal to 2.
[0238] In the example of Fig. 8, a bit value of the first bitmap associated with the group is “1” . The first bitmap indicates that MG occasions 810 and 820 for MG 2 as well as MG occasions 830 and 840 for MG 1 are to be skipped.
[0239] In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap and a second plurality of bitmaps. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether one of the second plurality of bitmaps which is associated with a respective one of the MG configurations is present. Each of bits in each of the second plurality of bitmaps is associated with at least one MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations and indicates whether the at least one MG occasion is to be skipped or activated. This will be described with reference to Fig. 9.
[0240] Fig. 9 illustrates example formats of a first bitmap and a second plurality of bitmaps in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 9, each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether one of the second plurality of bitmaps which is associated with a respective one of the MG configurations is present. The MG configurations may be represented by MG0, MG1, …, MGj, where j is the ascending or descending order of indexes of the MG configurations. The second plurality of bitmaps may be represented by second bitmap 0, second bitmap 1, …, second bitmap j. A bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj indicates whether a second bitmap j associated with MGj is present. For example, if a value of the bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 1, it indicates a second bitmap j associated with MGj is present. If a value of the bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 0, it indicates the second bitmap j associated with MGj is not present.
[0241] In some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a first plurality of MG configurations which are configured for the UE 104. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the occasions for all the configured MG configurations.
[0242] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a second plurality of MG configurations which are configured to be allowed to be skipped or activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the occasions for part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be skipped or activated.
[0243] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a third plurality of MG configurations which are activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the activated occasions.
[0244] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG configurations may comprise a fourth plurality of MG configurations which are activated and deactivated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the first indication is for the activated occasions and deactivated occasions.
[0245] With continued reference to Fig. 9, each of the second plurality of bitmaps is associated with one of MG0, MG1, …, MGj. Each of bits in a second bitmap j associated with MGj indicates whether an MG occasion for MGj is to be skipped. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates the MG occasion for MGj is to be skipped, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates the MG occasion for MGj is not to be skipped.
[0246] In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap and a second bitmap. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether an MG occasion of a respective one of the MG configurations is mapped to a bit in the second bitmap. Each of bits in the second bitmap is associated with an MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations and indicates whether the MG occasion is to be skipped or activated.
[0247] In some implementations, the MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations may comprise a start MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations to which the first indication is to be applied.
[0248] In some implementations, the MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations may comprise a first MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations. The first MG occasion is immediately after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0249] Alternatively, in some implementations, the MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations may comprise a second MG occasion of the respective one of the MG configurations. The second MG occasion is immediately after a sixth number of time units after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0250] Fig. 10 illustrates example formats of a first bitmap and a second bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 10, each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether an MG occasion of a respective one of the MG configurations is mapped to a bit in the second bitmap. The MG configurations may be represented by MG0, MG1, …, MGj, where j is the ascending or descending order of indexes of the MG configurations.
[0251] A bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj indicates whether an MG occasion of MGj is mapped to a bit in the second bitmap. For example, if a value of the bit j in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 1, it indicates an MG occasion of MGj is mapped to a bit in the second bitmap. If a value of the bit j in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 0, it indicates no MG occasions of MGj are mapped to bits in the second bitmap, or it indicates the value of the bit j is reserved.
[0252] In some implementations, the MG occasion of MGj which is mapped to a bit in the second bitmap may comprise a start MG occasion to which the first indication is to be applied.
[0253] For example, the MG occasion of MGj may comprise a first MG occasion of MGj. The first MG occasion is immediately after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0254] For another example, the MG occasion of MGj may comprise a second MG occasion of MGj. The second MG occasion is immediately after a sixth number of time units after the time unit on which the first indication is received or scheduled.
[0255] In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap and a second plurality of bitmaps. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether one of the second plurality of bitmaps which is associated with a respective one of the MG configurations is present. Each of bits in each of the second plurality of bitmaps is associated with multiple MG occasions of the respective one of the MG configurations and indicates whether the multiple MG occasions are to be skipped or activated. This will be described with reference to Fig. 11.
[0256] Fig. 11 illustrates example formats of a first bitmap and a second plurality of bitmaps in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 11, each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with one of MG configurations and indicates whether one of the second plurality of bitmaps which is associated with a respective one of the MG configurations is present. The MG configurations may be represented by MG0, MG1, …, MGj, where j is the ascending or descending order of indexes of the MG configurations.
[0257] The second plurality of bitmaps may be represented by second bitmap 0, second bitmap 1, …, second bitmap j. The number of bits in each of the second plurality of bitmaps may be represented by m, where m may be equal to or less than j.
[0258] A bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj indicates whether a second bitmap j associated with MGj is present. For example, if a value of the bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 1, it indicates a second bitmap j associated with MGj is present. If a value of the bit in the first bitmap associated with MGj is set to 0, it indicates the second bitmap j associated with MGj is not present.
[0259] Each of the second plurality of bitmaps is associated with one of MG0, MG1, …, MGj. Each of bits in a second bitmap j associated with MGj indicates whether an MGOm for MGj is to be skipped. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates the MGOm for MGj is to be skipped, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates the MGOm for MGj is not to be skipped. MGO0 for MGj may be a start MGO for MGj to which the first indication is to be applied.
[0260] As described above, the first indication indicates to skip or activate at least one MG occasion of at least one MG configuration. In some implementations, the first indication may comprise a first bitmap associated with one or more MG occasions. Each of the one or more MG occasions is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with an MG occasion of one of the multiple MG configurations. and may indicate whether the MG occasion is to be skipped if the MG occasion is an MG occasion of an MG configuration which is activated, or indicate whether the MG occasion is to be activated if the MG occasion is an MG occasion of an MG configuration which is deactivated.
[0261] For example, the first bitmap is associated with MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi, where i is the ascending or descending order of one or more indexes of the one or more MGOs. Each of MGO0, MGO1, …, MGOi is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. A bit associated with MGOi indicates whether MGOi is to be skipped if MGOi is an activated MGO, or indicates whether MGOi is to be activated if MGOi is a deactivated MGO. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates MGOi is to be skipped if MGOi is an activated MGO, and a value of 1 of the bit indicates MGOi is to be activated if MGOi is a deactivated MGO.
[0262] In some implementations, the multiple MG configurations may comprise a first plurality of MG configurations which are configured for the UE 104. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the skip indication is for the activated occasions for all the configured MG configurations and that the activation indication is for the deactivated occasions for all the configured MG configurations.
[0263] Alternatively, in some implementations, the multiple MG configurations may comprise a second plurality of MG configurations which are configured to be allowed to be skipped or activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the skip indication is for the activated occasions for a first part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be skipped and that the activation indication is for the deactivated occasions for a second part of the configured MG configurations which are allowed to be activated. The first part of the configured MG configurations may be the same as or different from the second part of the configured MG configurations.
[0264] Fig. 12 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 12, the UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap. The UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2. MG 1 is activated and MG 2 is deactivated.
[0265] For example, the number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions which are activated and deactivated. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “11” . The first bitmap indicates that an MG occasion 1210 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 is to be activated and an MG occasion 1220 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 is to be skipped.
[0266] Hereinafter, some implementations of activating at least one deactivated MG occasion of at least one MG configuration will be described. In such implementations, the network entity 102 indicates the UE 104 to activate or enable one or more MG occasions by the activation indication. Thus, the UE 104 prioritizes measurement during the one or more activated MG occasions. The activation indication may be transmitted via downlink control information (DCI) or medium access control control element (MAC CE) .
[0267] In some implementations, the activation indication may comprise a first bitmap associated with one or more MG occasions. Each of the one or more MG occasions is associated with one of multiple MG configurations. Each of bits in the first bitmap is associated with an MG occasion of one of the multiple MG configurations, and each of the bits indicates whether the MG occasion is to be activated.
[0268] In some implementations, the multiple MG configurations comprises a first plurality of MG configurations which are configured for the UE 104.
[0269] Alternatively, in some implementations, the multiple MG configurations comprises a second plurality of MG configurations which are configured to be allowed to be activated.
[0270] Alternatively, in some implementations, the multiple MG configurations comprises a third plurality of MG configurations which are activated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the activation indication is for the deactivated occasions.
[0271] Alternatively, in some implementations, the multiple MG configurations comprises a plurality of MG configurations which are deactivated. In such implementations, the first bitmap may indicate that the activation indication is for the occasions of the MG configurations which are deactivated.
[0272] Fig. 13 illustrates an example of a first bitmap and determining one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. In the example of Fig. 13, the UE 104 is configured with the number of bits in the first bitmap.
[0273] For example, the UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2, and both MGs are deactivated. The number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2.The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “11” . The first bitmap indicates that an MG occasion 1310 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 and an MG occasion 1320 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 is to be activated.
[0274] For another example, the UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2, and both MGs are deactivated. The number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 4. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “1101” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 1310 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2, the MG occasion 1320 (i.e., MG occasion #2) for MG 1 and an MG occasion 1340 (i.e., MG occasion #4) for MG 1 are to be activated.
[0275] For a further example, the UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2. MG 1 is activated, and MG 2 is deactivated. The number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 2. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions of one or more MG configurations which are deactivated. The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time of the one or more MG occasions. Bit values of the first bitmap are “11” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 1310 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 and an MG occasion 1330 (i.e., MG occasion #3) for MG 2 is to be activated.
[0276] For a still further example, the UE 104 is provided two MG configurations: MG 1 and MG 2. MG 1 is activated, and MG 2 is deactivated. The number of bits in the first bitmap may be equal to 4. The one or more MG occasions to be indicated in the first bitmap comprise one or more MG occasions The UE 104 determines an order of the one or more MG occasions based on the first ascending order of start time (s) the one or more MG occasions of the one or more MG configurations which are deactivated and activated. Bit values of the first bitmap are “1010” . The first bitmap indicates that the MG occasion 1310 (i.e., MG occasion #1) for MG 2 and an MG occasion 1330 (i.e., MG occasion #3) for MG 2 is to be activated.
[0277] In some implementations, the UE 104 may dynamically activate a pattern by activation indication from the network entity 102. The pattern indicates which MG occasion (s) for an MG configuration in a period is to be skipped. The pattern may be configured by an RRC message. For example, the parameters may include a bitmap. Each bit in the bitmap is associated with an MGO. This bit i field indicates whether the MGO is to be skipped, where i is the ascending or descending order of start time of the MG occasions among the configured MG in a period after receiving the MG configuration by RRC message. For example, bit 0 is corresponding to the first MGO in a period, which is determined, and bit 1 is corresponding to the second MGO in the period. The period may be included in the parameters. The UE 104 may be configured multiple periodic / semi-persistent configurations indicating more patterns. The network entity 102 can activate one or more patterns.
[0278] In some implementations, the UE 104 may dynamically activate a pattern by activation indication from the network entity 102. The pattern indicates which MG occasion (s) for an MG configuration in a period is to be skipped. The pattern may be configured by an RRC message. For example, the parameters may include period or semi-persistent configuration including at least one of: a time-window period, a time-window offset and time-window duration. The UE 104 derives time windows according to the semi-persistent configuration. If the time-window duration is overlapped the MG duration, the MG occasion is considered as skipped. The UE 104 may be configured multiple periodic / semi-persistent configurations indicating more patterns. The network entity 102 can activate one or more patterns.
[0279] In some implementations, to help the network entity 102 determine successful transmission of the activation indication, the UE 104 may transmit confirmation information for the activation indication to the network entity 102. The confirm information can help the network entity 102 to timely determine whether to further transmit the first indication or the activation indication to the UE 104.
[0280] In some implementations, the confirmation information indicates at least one of the following: the activation indication is received; activation of the at least one pattern is confirmed or accepted; or the at least one MG configuration, wherein activation of the at least one pattern is confirmed or accepted. For example, a bitmap is associated with one or more pattern. For example, the bitmap is associated with pattern0, pattern1, …, patterni, where i is the ascending or descending order of one or more indexes of the pattern configuration. A bit associated with pattern indicates whether the activation indication for patterni is confirmed or accepted. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates the activation indication for patterni is confirmed or accepted, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates the activation indication for patterni is not confirmed or not accepted.
[0281] In some implementations, to help the network entity 102 determine successful transmission of the first indication, the UE 104 may transmit confirmation information for the first indication to the network entity 102. The confirm information can help the network entity 102 to timely determine whether to further transmit the first indication or the activation indication to the UE 104.
[0282] In some implementations, the confirmation information indicates at least one of the following: the first indication is received; skipping or activation of the at least one MG occasion is confirmed or accepted; or the at least one MG configuration, wherein skipping or activation of the at least one MG occasion of the at least one MG configuration is confirmed or accepted.
[0283] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information in an uplink control information (UCI) . The UCI may be carried on PUSCH or PUCCH. For example, a bit is used to indicate whether the first indication is received. For another example, a bit is used to indicate whether skipping or activation of the at least one MG occasion is confirmed or accepted.
[0284] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information via a scheduling request (SR) . An SR configuration is specially configured by the network entity 102.
[0285] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information via a preamble. The preamble is specially configured by the network entity 102. RACH preamble transmission is allowed during an activated MGO. A random access procedure can be triggered by the confirmation information.
[0286] Alternatively, in some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information in a MAC CE.
[0287] For example, a MAC sub-header only is used to indicate the confirmation. A unique LCID is allocated for the confirmation of the first indication.
[0288] For example, an MAC CE is used to carry the confirmation information. The MAC CE may comprise a third bitmap. This will be described with reference to Fig. 14.
[0289] Fig. 14 illustrates an example format of a third bitmap in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in Fig. 14, the third bitmap is associated with one or more MGs. For example, the third bitmap is associated with MG0, MG1, …, MGi, where i is the ascending or descending order of one or more indexes of the MGs. A bit associated with MGi indicates whether the first indication for MGi is confirmed or accepted. For example, a value of 1 of the bit indicates the first indication for MGi is confirmed or accepted, and a value of 0 of the bit indicates the first indication for MGi is not confirmed or not accepted.
[0290] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information at a time instance after receiving the first indication or activation indication in a time window. The length of the time window may be configured by the network entity 102.
[0291] For example, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information after Y time units after receiving the PDCCH scheduling the first indication or activation indication.
[0292] For example, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information after Y time units after the last / first symbol of the PDCCH carrying the first indication or activation indication.
[0293] For example, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information after Y time units after the last / first symbol of the PDCCH scheduling a PDSCH including the first indication or activation indication.
[0294] For example, the UE 104 may transmit the confirmation information after Y time units after the last / first symbol of PDSCH carrying the first indication or activation indication.
[0295] In some implementations, Y may be predefined or configured by the network entity 102. The time units may be symbols, slots, sub-frames, radio frames or ms.
[0296] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit assistance information to the network entity 102. The UE 104 may transmit assistance information for solution (s) to enable Tx / Rx in gaps / restrictions that are caused by RRM measurements.
[0297] In some implementations, the assistance information may comprise UE assistance information related to measurement occasions. The UE assistance information related to measurement occasions may comprise at least one of the following: the number of needed measurement gaps / SMTC with restrictions within a time period; the maximum number or ratio of MGs / SMTC with restrictions that can be skipped within a time period; the number of required SSBs within a time period; the number of consecutive RRM measurements that can be skipped; the maximum interval between two consecutively reserved gap / restriction occasions for RRM measurements; the patterns of gap (s) / restriction (s) where skipping is feasible or acceptable.
[0298] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the assistance information may comprise UE assistance information related to channel conditions. The UE assistance information related to channel conditions may comprise RSRP is below / above search threshold (s-MeasureConfig) .
[0299] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the assistance information may comprise UE assistance information related to traffic. The UE assistance information related to traffic may indicate PDU set importance (PSI) .
[0300] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the assistance information may comprise UE assistance information related to the UE mobility. The UE assistance information related to the UE mobility may comprise L3 parameters related to mobility, e.g., static or not.
[0301] In some implementations, the UE 104 may receive a configuration for transmitting the assistance information from the network entity 102. The configuration for transmitting the assistance information may help reduce overhead for transmission of the assistance information.
[0302] In some implementations, the configuration for transmitting the assistance information may indicate at least one MG type, the assistance information about which is allowed to be transmitted. In such implementations, the UE 104 may transmit information related to the at least one MG type together with the assistance information to the network entity 102.
[0303] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the configuration for transmitting the assistance information may indicate at least one index of the at least one MG configuration, the assistance information about which is allowed to be transmitted. In such implementations, the UE 104 may transmit information related to at least one index of the at least one MG configuration together with the assistance information to the network entity 102.
[0304] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the configuration for transmitting the assistance information may indicate a data radio bearer (DRB) or a quality of service (QoS) flow to be considered for determination of the assistance information. For example, if DRB1 carries an XR traffic, the UE 104 may determine the assistance information based on the traffic pattern of the DRB or QoS flow and MG gap pattern.
[0305] Alternatively or additionally, in some implementations, the configuration for transmitting the assistance information may indicate at least one link via which the assistance information is to be transmitted. The UE 104 determines one or more links among MCG and SCG, via which the UE 104 transmits the assistant information to the network entity 102.
[0306] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via RRC or MAC CE (e.g., enhanced Delay Status Report or enhanced Buffer Status Report or a new dedicated MAC CE) .
[0307] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via at least one link indicated by the network entity 102. For example, if the network entity 102 indicates to use MCG to transmit the assistant information, the UE 104 transmits the assistant information via MCG. For example, if the network entity 102 indicates to use SCG to transmit the assistant information, the UE 104 transmits the assistant information via SCG. For example, if the network entity 102 indicates to use one or more specified cell (such as PCell or PScell) to transmit the assistant information, the UE 104 transmits the assistant information via the specified cell (e.g., PCell or PScell) .
[0308] In some implementations, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via a link related to XR service specified by the network entity 102. If traffic specified by NG-RAN is in MCG, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via MCG. For example, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via SRB1 or MAC CE. If traffic specified by NG-RAN is in SCG, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via SCG. For example, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via SRB3 or MAC CE. If traffic specified by NG-RAN is in MCG and SCG, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via either MCG or SCG. For example, the UE 104 may transmit the assistant information via split SRB1 or MAC CE.
[0309] In some implementation, if a cell group receives the assistant information from the UE 104, the cell group may transfer some assistant information or the received assistant information to the other cell group according to the received assistant information.
[0310] In some implementation, if a cell group configures an MG configuration to the UE 104, the UE 104 transmits the assistant information to the cell group. For example, UE transmits the assistant information related to the MG configuration configured by MCG to the MCG. For example, the UE 104 transmits the assistant information related to the MG configuration configured by SCG to the SCG.
[0311] Consider an example. In the example, the network entity 102 configures MG 1. The network entity 102 requests the UE 104 to transmit assistant information related to measurement occasions for MG 1. The UE 104 transmits the assistant information related to measurement occasions including an index of MG 1 to MCG.
[0312] The network entity 102 configures MG 2. The network entity 102 requests the UE 104 to transmit assistant information related to measurement occasions for MG2. The UE 104 transmits the assistant information related to measurement occasions including an index of MG 2 to SCG.
[0313] The network entity 102 configures MG3. The network entity 102 requests the UE 104 to transmit assistant information related to measurement occasions for MG3. The UE 104 transmits the assistant information related to measurement occasions including an index of MG 3 to MCG.
