Description

[0001] Device and method for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for storing electrical energy

[0002] The invention relates to a device for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for, in particular electrochemically, storing electrical energy, according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for, in particular electrochemically, storing electrical energy, according to the preamble of patent claim 6.

[0003] DE 102018 200 553 A1 discloses an electrode arrangement for a battery cell. Furthermore, DE 102015 104439 B4 discloses an electrochromic element. Furthermore, JP 6156398 B2 discloses a method for producing an electrode.

[0004] The object of the present invention is to provide a device and a method so that an electrode, in particular for a storage cell for storing electrical energy, in particular electrochemically, can be produced particularly advantageously.

[0005] This object is achieved according to the invention by a device having the features of patent claim 1 and by a method having the features of patent claim 6. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

[0006] A first aspect of the invention relates to a device for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for storing, in particular electrochemically, electrical energy. This means that the storage cell, in its fully manufactured state, comprises the electrode, wherein electrical energy is to be stored or is stored, in particular electrochemically, by means of or in the storage cell and thereby in particular by means of the electrode. In particular, the storage cell can be a lithium-ion cell. In particular, it is conceivable that the device is designed or used for producing the storage cell.

[0007] The device has at least one drying device, which is also referred to as a drying section or can be designed as a drying section. The drying device is designed to dry at least one coating web made of an active material applied to a, in particular metallic, conductor foil. This means that, to produce the electrode, in particular the storage cell, the coating web is applied to the conductor foil so that the conductor foil is or is coated with the coating web. The coating web is formed from the aforementioned active material. The device has at least one receiving area in which the, preferably metallic, conductor foil coated with the coating web and thus provided with the coating web can be received at least temporarily. This means that the conductor foil and the coating web applied to the conductor foil can be or are received at least temporarily in the receiving area of the device, wherein the coating web applied to the conductor foil can be or is dried in the receiving area, ie in particular while the conductor foil received on the coating web is arranged or received in the receiving area, by means of the drying device.

[0008] In order to be able to produce the electrode, in particular the storage cell, particularly advantageously, it is provided according to the invention that the drying device has a plurality of outflow elements, also referred to as outflow vents, which can be supplied with a heated gas. The heated gas can flow through the respective outflow element in a respective flow direction. The respective outflow element is also referred to as a nozzle and / or can be designed as a nozzle. The heated gas can be discharged from the outflow elements. This means that the respective outflow element can provide the heated gas in such a way that the gas flows through the respective outflow element and in the process flows out of the outflow element and flows in particular, preferably directly, into the receiving area.By removing or discharging the heated gas from the discharge elements, the coating web can be exposed to the heated gas, in particular directly, to dry the coating web. This means that the gas flowing out of the discharge elements and thereby, in particular directly, into the receiving area can flow onto the coating web, in particular directly, to dry the coating web, in particular while the coating web is arranged in the receiving area, and most particularly while the coating web and thus the discharge foil are being conveyed through the receiving area.

[0009] The dryer device also has at least one distribution chamber which is common to the outflow elements and which can be supplied with the heated gas. This means that the heated gas can be introduced into the distribution chamber, i.e. can be supplied to the distribution chamber. The heated gas can flow into the distribution chamber and then flow through the distribution chamber and then flow from the distribution chamber to the outflow elements, so that the gas is divided or distributed between the outflow elements by means of the distribution chamber. The distribution chamber is therefore arranged upstream of the outflow elements in the flow direction of the flowing gas. For example, the distribution chamber can be supplied with a total flow of the heated gas, also referred to as the total flow, so that the total flow of the heated gas can be introduced into the distribution chamber and thus supplied to the distribution chamber. For example, the total flow is distributed or divided among the outflow elements via or by means of the distribution chamber in such a way that the total flow is divided into partial flows, with each outflow element being able to be or being flowed through by exactly one of the partial flows. The partial flows flowing through the outflow elements can flow out of the outflow elements and into the receiving area, where they can flow onto the coating web, in particular directly, thereby allowing the coating web to be dried.

[0010] The dryer device also has at least one supply line through which the heated gas can flow, via which the distribution chamber can be supplied with the heated gas flowing through the supply line. Thus, for example, the total flow flows through the supply line and from the supply line into the distribution chamber, so that the supply line is arranged upstream of the distribution chamber in the flow direction of the heated gas flowing through the supply line, the distribution chamber, and the outflow elements. Thus, the distribution chamber is arranged downstream of the supply line and upstream of the outflow elements in the flow direction of the heated gas flowing through the supply line, the distribution chamber, and the outflow elements. The distribution chamber is particularly characterized by the fact that, compared to the supply line and the respective outflow element, it has a larger flow cross-section through which the heated gas can flow than the supply line and the respective outflow element. Thus, for example, if the supply line, the distribution chamber, and the outflow elements form an overall line through which the heated gas can flow, the distribution chamber, for example, forms a local cross-sectional enlargement, i.e., a local enlargement of the flow cross-section through which the heated gas can flow on its way from the supply line via the distribution chamber to the respective outflow element.

[0011] The device also has at least one volume and / or mass flow sensor arranged in the supply line, which is also referred to as the first sensor. By means of the first sensor, a volume and / or mass flow of the heated gas flowing through the supply line can be detected, wherein the volume and / or mass flow detectable by means of the first sensor is also referred to as the first measured variable. The device also has at least one first temperature sensor arranged in the supply line or in the distribution chamber, which is also referred to as the second sensor. Preferably, the second sensor is spaced apart from the first sensor. By means of the second sensor, a temperature of the gas flowing through the supply line or the distribution chamber can be detected. By means of the second sensor, detectable, ieThe temperature to be measured is also referred to as the second measured variable; the device additionally has at least one second temperature sensor, by means of which a temperature of a surface of the coating web can be detected without contact in the drying device. The second temperature sensor is also referred to as the third sensor. The temperature of the surface of the coating web that can be detected by the third sensor is also referred to as the third measured variable. The feature that the third sensor can detect, i.e. measure, the temperature of the coating web without contact is to be understood as meaning that the temperature of the surface relative to the surface can be detected without contact by means of the third sensor. In other words, the third sensor can detect or measure the temperature of the surface of the coating web without the third sensor touching the coating web.For example, the third sensor is designed as an infrared temperature sensor, in particular as an infrared pyrometer (IR pyrometer). The temperature of the surfaces of the coating plan is also referred to as surface temperature. Very preferably, the third sensor is spaced apart from the first sensor and the second sensor. Preferably, the third sensor is arranged at one end of the receiving area, in particular of the dryer device as a whole. The device also has at least one pressure sensor arranged in the supply line or in the distribution chamber, which pressure sensor is also referred to as a fourth sensor. The fourth sensor can be used to detect the pressure of the gas flowing through the supply line or the distribution chamber, wherein the pressure detectable by the fourth sensor is also referred to as the fourth measured variable. In particular, the quarter measured variable is an absolute pressure of the gas flowing through the supply line or the distribution chamber. Preferably, the fourth sensor is spaced apart from the first sensor, the second sensor, and the third sensor.

[0012] The device also has at least one differential pressure sensor, which is also referred to as a fifth sensor. By means of the fifth sensor, a difference, also referred to as a pressure difference or pressure difference, between a first pressure prevailing in an environment and thus outside the drying device and a second pressure prevailing in the receiving area and thus in the drying device can be detected, i.e. measured, wherein the difference between the first pressure and the second pressure is also referred to as the fifth measurand. Overall, it can be seen that the sensors detect the measurands, i.e. can measure them, in particular while the coating web is being dried in the receiving area. The drying of the coating web is also referred to as drying or the drying process. The device according to the invention enables monitoring of the drying process by recording the measured values during the drying process. This enables online or inline monitoring of the drying process, allowing the electrode to be manufactured with particularly high quality and process reliability.

[0013] The sensors mentioned form a measuring technology or are a component of a measuring technology, wherein the measured variables are or can be recorded by means of the measuring technology, in particular during the drying process, i.e. while the coating web is being dried in the drying device. Thus, the measuring technology is also referred to as online or inline measuring technology. The invention is based on the knowledge that without such inline measuring technology, a quality of the electrode and / or the drying device, i.e. at least a variable characterizing the quality of the electrode and / or the drying device, can only be determined after the drying device and in particular only after the electrode has been completely manufactured. During the manufacture of the electrode, for example, the in particular metallic conductor foil is unwound from a reel also referred to as a coil, then coated with the coating web made of the active material, i.e.and then conveyed through the drying device, in particular through the receiving area, so that, for example, the coating web applied to the conductor foil is dried in and by means of the drying device, while the conductor foil and the coating web applied to the conductor foil are moved relative to the drying device, in particular translationally, and are thereby conveyed through the receiving area. Typically, the aforementioned quality of the drying device and / or electrode can only be determined after the entire coll has been processed.

[0014] If quality problems are discovered, the entire processed coil is considered scrap, which can lead to high scrap rates and thus high costs, particularly in a pilot or series line for electrode production. Therefore, monitoring the drying process is desirable, which can now be achieved by the invention. By recording, and thus measuring, the measured variables, quality characteristics such as the adhesion strength of the coating web to the conductor foil can be monitored during the drying process of the coating web. This is particularly advantageous since the adhesion strength of the coating web to the conductor foil is essentially created during the drying process. The previously mentioned measurement parameters were identified as particularly advantageous for monitoring the drying process and thus ensuring a particularly high quality of the manufactured electrode and in particular of the drying process.

[0015] To enable the electrode to be produced particularly advantageously, one embodiment of the invention provides for the dryer device to have at least one heating element by means of which the gas can be heated. The heating element is preferably an electrical heating element that can be supplied with or is supplied with electrical energy, thereby heating the gas via the heating element. This allows, for example, the temperature of the gas to be adjusted in a targeted manner.

[0016] Preferably, air is used as the gas in order to avoid undesirable impairment of the coating web.

[0017] A further embodiment is characterized in that the drying device has at least one third temperature sensor as a sixth sensor, by means of which a temperature of the heating element itself can be detected. The temperature detectable by the sixth sensor is also referred to as the sixth measured variable, which can be detected, i.e., measured, by the sixth sensor. This allows the drying process to be monitored particularly advantageously, ensuring a particularly high quality of the drying process itself and of the produced electrode. Excessive waste can thus be avoided.

[0018] In a further, particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the dryer device has at least one discharge path via which the gas can be discharged from the coating web and from the receiving area after the coating web has been exposed to the gas. If the gas is air, the gas flowing through the discharge path is also referred to as exhaust air. The device has at least one second volume and / or mass flow sensor arranged in the discharge path as a seventh sensor, by means of which a volume and / or mass flow of the gas flowing through the discharge path can be detected. The volume and / or mass flow of the gas detectable by means of the seventh sensor is also referred to as the seventh measured variable, which can be detected, i.e. measured, by means of the seventh sensor. This allows the drying process to be monitored particularly advantageously, so that a particularly high quality of the drying process and the electrode can be guaranteed.

[0019] A further embodiment is characterized by a conveyor device by means of which the conductor foil coated with the coating web can be moved through the receiving area, in particular in a translational manner, and can thus be conveyed through. The coating web applied to the conductor foil and the conductor foil provided with the coating web, i.e. coated, form a composite, also referred to as an electrode composite, in a state in which the coating web is applied to the conductor foil, the coating web of which is to be dried or is dried in the receiving area by means of the drying device. Thus, in the receiving area and thus in the drying device, the coating web is dried by means of the gas ... while the composite is in the receiving area, in particular while the composite is moved through the receiving area and thus through the drying device. Thus, the conveying device is designed to move the composite relative to the drying device, in particular translationally, and thereby convey the composite through the receiving area while the coating web of the composite is dried by means of the gas, such that the coating web of the composite is exposed, in particular directly, to the gas flowing out of the outflow elements and thus provided by the outflow elements. This allows the electrode to be manufactured with high quality and with particularly reliable processes.

[0020] A second aspect of the invention relates to a method for producing at least one electrode, in particular by means of a device according to the first aspect of the invention. In the method according to the second aspect of the invention, at least one coating layer made of an active material is applied to at least one, in particular metallic, conductor foil, whereby the conductor foil is provided with the coating layer, i.e., coated. In the method according to the second aspect of the invention, the conductor foil provided with the coating layer is fed to a receiving area of a drying device, by means of which the coating layer is dried in the receiving area. This means that in the method, the coating web is dried by means of the drying device, while the coating web applied to the arrester foil and thus the arrester foil are located in the receiving area, in particular are moved through the receiving area and thus conveyed through. In the method according to the second aspect of the invention, the electrode is produced from the arrester foil provided with the coating web dried by means of the drying section. In other words, as already described in relation to the first aspect of the invention, the coating web applied to the arrester foil and the arrester foil provided with the coating web together form a composite, also referred to as an electrode composite, the coating web of which is dried in the receiving area by means of the drying device. After the coating web has been dried, the at least one electrode is produced from the composite.

[0021] In order to avoid excessive waste and thus excessively high costs for manufacturing the electrode, as well as to be able to produce the electrode reliably and with a high quality, the second aspect of the invention provides that the drying device has a plurality of outflow elements which are supplied with a heated gas and through which the heated gas flows, in particular in a respective flow direction. The flow directions in which the gas flows through the outflow elements preferably run parallel to one another. Because the heated gas flows through the outflow elements, the heated gas flows out of the outflow elements and, in particular directly, into the receiving area, whereby the coating web is exposed to the heated gas, in particular directly, to dry the coating web. This means in particular that the heated gas flowing out of the outflow element flows onto the coating web, in particular directly.

[0022] The device also has at least one distribution chamber common to the outflow elements, which is supplied with the heated gas and through which the heated gas flows. The heated gas is supplied to the outflow elements via the distribution chamber, in particular distributed among the outflow elements. The dryer device also has at least one supply line through which the heated gas flows. The heated gas is supplied to the distribution chamber via the supply line, i.e., is introduced into the distribution chamber. As a result, the distribution chamber is supplied with the heated gas via the supply line.

[0023] In order to advantageously monitor the drying of the coating web, also referred to as the drying process, while the coating web is being dried by means of the dryer device in the receiving area, the device has at least one volume and / or mass flow sensor arranged in the supply line, by means of which a volume and / or mass flow of the heated gas flowing through the supply line is detected during the drying of the coating web. The device also has at least one first temperature sensor arranged in the supply line or in the distribution chamber, by means of which a temperature of the gas flowing through the supply line or the distribution chamber is detected during the drying of the coating web.The device also has at least one second temperature sensor, by means of which a temperature of a surface of the coating web is detected in the drying device during drying of the coating web without any testing. The device also has at least one pressure sensor arranged in the supply line or in the distribution chamber, by means of which a pressure, in particular in the form of absolute pressure, of the gas flowing through the supply line or the distribution chamber is detected during drying of the coating web. Furthermore, according to the second aspect of the invention, the device has at least one differential pressure sensor, by means of which a difference between a first pressure prevailing in an environment and thus outside the drying device and a second pressure prevailing in the receiving area and thus inside the drying device is detected during drying of the coating web.Advantages and advantageous embodiments of the first aspect of the invention are to be regarded as advantages and advantageous embodiments of the second aspect of the invention, and vice versa. In order to be able to produce the electrode with particularly high quality in a particularly time- and cost-effective manner, one embodiment of the second aspect of the invention provides that the conductor foil provided with the coating web, thus the aforementioned composite, is conveyed by means of a conveyor device through the receiving area and thus through the drying device, while the coating web is dried by means of the drying device.

[0024] Further details of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment with the accompanying drawing. The sole FIG. 1 shows a partial schematic and sectional side view of an apparatus for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for storing electrical energy, in particular electrochemically.

[0025] Fig. 1 shows a detail in a schematic side view of a device 1 for producing at least one electrode, in particular for a storage cell for storing, in particular electrochemically, electrical energy. In addition, a method for producing the electrode is described below with reference to Fig. 1. The electrode is used, in particular after its production, for or in the aforementioned storage cell, wherein electrical energy can be stored, in particular electrochemically, by means of the storage cell. For example, the storage cell is a lithium-ion cell. In the method and, for example, by means of the device 1, at least one coating layer 3 made of an active material is applied to at least one, preferably metallic, conductor foil 2, such that the conductor foil 2 is provided with the coating layer 3 and thus with the active material, i.e. is coated. In the device shown in Fig.In the exemplary embodiment shown in Figure 1, the coating web 3 made of the active material is applied, in particular by means of the device 1, to a first surface 4 of the conductor foil 2, so that the surface 4 is provided with the coating web 3, i.e., coated. Furthermore, for example, in the method and in particular by means of the device 1, a second coating web 6 made of the active material is applied to a second surface 5 of the conductor foil 2 facing away from the surface 4, so that, for example, the surface 5 is coated, i.e., provided, with the coating web 6 and thus with the active material.

[0026] The device 1 has a drying device 7, which is also referred to as a dryer or drying section. For example, the conductor foil 2 is provided with the coating webs 3 and 6 by means of a coating device of the device 1, also referred to as a coater and not shown in Fig. 1, in particular while the conductor foil 2 is moved relative to the coater, in particular translationally, by means of a conveyor device not shown in Fig. 1 and is thus moved through the coater, i.e., conveyed through it.

[0027] From Fig. 1 it can be seen that the drying device 7 has a receiving area 8 in which the arrester foil 2 coated with the coating webs 3 and 6 can be received at least temporarily for drying the coating webs 3 and 6. In the method, the arrester foil 2 provided with the coating webs 3 and 6 is fed to the receiving area 8, and in the method the coating webs 3 and 6 applied to the arrester foil 2, which are arranged on the mutually opposite surfaces 4 and 5 of the arrester foil 2 and thus on mutually opposite sides of the arrester foil 2, are dried by means of the drying device 7, while the coating webs 3 and 6 applied to the arrester foil 2 are arranged in the receiving area 8, in particular are conveyed through the receiving area 8.This means that the coating webs 3 and 6 applied to the conductor foil 2 and the conductor foil 2 form a composite, also referred to as an electrode composite, which is moved by means of the conveying device in a direction of movement illustrated by an arrow 9 relative to the drying device 7, in particular translationally, and is thereby moved in the conveying direction through the receiving area 8, i.e. is conveyed through, while the coating webs 3 and 6 of the composite are dried by means of the drying device 7.

[0028] The device 1 can, for example, have a plurality of dryer devices 7, which are also referred to as dryer segments. A plurality of first dryer segments are arranged, for example, one behind the other along the forward direction illustrated by arrow 9, and thus sequentially, in particular by forming a first dryer line. A plurality of second dryer segments can, for example, be arranged one behind the other, and thus sequentially, in particular by forming a second dryer line, through which, for example, a second assembly can be conveyed, in order to dry coating webs of the second assembly while the second assembly is conveyed through the second dryer line. This allows a large number of electrodes to be produced quickly and cost-effectively.The previous and following statements regarding the drying device 7 can easily be applied to the other dryer segments, and vice versa. After the coating webs 3 and 6 of the composite have been dried, at least one electrode is removed from the composite, i.e., from the conductor foil provided with the coating webs 3 and 6 dried by the drying device 7.

[0029] 2 manufactured.

[0030] In order to be able to produce the electrode particularly advantageously, the drying device 7 has first outflow elements 10 and second outflow elements 11, which are supplied with heated air as heated gas and through which the heated air flows, in particular in a respective flow direction that runs, for example, perpendicular to the conveying direction. The heated air flows in the flow direction through the respective outflow element 10, 11 and out of the respective outflow element 10, 11, so that the heated air flows out of the respective outflow element 10, 11 in the flow direction, i.e. is discharged. The respective outflow element 10, 11 is also referred to as an outflow vent. The heated air flowing out of the outflow vents flows, in particular directly, into the receiving area 8, so that the heated air flowing out of the outflow vents flows directly onto the coating webs 3 and 6 and thus directly acts on them.By applying the heated air flowing out of the outlets to the coating tracks 3 and 6, the coating tracks are...

[0031] 3 and 6. It can be seen that the surfaces 4 and 5 and thus the sides of the conductor foil 2 point away from each other in a direction running perpendicular to the conveying direction, wherein the respective flow direction coincides with the said direction. The outflow elements 10 form a first outflow group, and the outflow elements 11 form a second outflow group, wherein the outflow groups lie opposite each other along this direction, and wherein the composite is conveyed in the conveying direction between the outflow groups, while the coating webs 3 and 6 are dried by means of the heated air. It can also be seen that the flow direction in which the heated air flows out of the respective outflow element 10 is opposite the flow direction in which the heated air flows out of the respective outflow element 11.

[0032] The drying device 7 has a first distribution chamber 12 common to the outflow elements 10 and a second distribution chamber 13 common to the outflow elements 11. The respective distribution chamber 12, 13 is supplied with the heated air and flows through it. The heated air is supplied to the outflow elements 10 via the distribution chamber 12 and to the outflow elements 11 via the distribution chamber 13, so that, for example, the heated air is distributed via and by means of the distribution chamber 12 to the outflow elements 10 and via and by means of the distribution chamber 12 to the outflow elements 11. Furthermore, the drying device 7 has a first supply line 14, through which the heated gas flows. The heated gas is supplied to the distribution chamber 12 via the first supply line 14, i.e., is introduced into the distribution chamber 12, which is thus supplied with the heated gas via the supply line 14.The drying device 7 also has a second supply line 15 assigned to the distribution chamber 13, through which the heated air flows, which is supplied to the distribution chamber 13 by means of and via the second supply line 15, i.e. is introduced into the distribution chamber 13. The distribution chamber 13 is thus supplied with the heated air via and by means of the supply line 15. The drying device 7 also has, for example, a supply line 16 common to supply lines 14 and 15, through which the heated gas flows. The heated gas flows via and by means of the supply line 16, the supply lines 14 and 15 are supplied with the heated gas, which is thus introduced into the supply lines 14 and 15 via the supply line 16. The flow of the air is illustrated by an arrow 17.

[0033] The drying device 7 has a first volume flow sensor 18 arranged in the supply line 14, by means of which a volume flow of the heated air flowing through the supply line 14 is detected, i.e. measured, during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6 and while the composite is conveyed through the receiving area 8. Furthermore, the drying device 7 has a second volume flow sensor 19 arranged in the supply line 15, by means of which a volume flow of the heated air flowing through the supply line 15 is detected, i.e. measured, during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6. The drying device 7 further has, for example, a first temperature sensor 20 arranged in the supply line 14, which is arranged downstream of the volume flow sensor 18 in the flow direction of the heated gas (heated air) flowing through the supply line 14.By means of the temperature sensor 20, a temperature of the heated air flowing through the supply line 14 is detected during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6. The drying device 7 further comprises a second temperature sensor 21, by means of which a temperature of a surface 22 of the coating web 3 is detected in the drying device 7 without contact during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6. For this purpose, the temperature sensor 21 is designed, for example, as an infrared pyrometer. It can be seen that, for example, the temperature sensor 21 is arranged in the receiving area 8. The drying device 7 further comprises a pressure sensor 23 arranged in the supply line 14, by means of which a pressure, in particular an absolute pressure, of the heated air flowing through the supply line 14 is detected, i.e. measured, during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6.Furthermore, the drying device 7 has a first differential pressure sensor 24, by means of which a difference between a first pressure prevailing in an environment 30 and thus outside the drying device 7 and a second pressure prevailing in the receiving area 8 is detected, i.e. measured, during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6.

[0034] In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the drying device 7 also has a second differential pressure sensor 25, by means of which a difference between a third pressure prevailing in the environment 30 and a fourth pressure prevailing in the receiving area 8 is detected during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6.

[0035] In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the drying device 7 also has a third temperature sensor 26. Several, and thus at least or exactly two, temperature sensors 26 can be provided, which are arranged, for example, one after the other along an arrangement direction, in particular at a distance from one another. The arrangement direction preferably runs perpendicular to the conveying direction and in a plane in which the conveying direction runs, wherein, for example, the conductor foil 2 extends in this plane. Thus, for example, the arrangement direction runs perpendicular to the flow direction. The conductor foil 2, in particular the composite, has, in particular, a width running along the arrangement direction, so that, for example, the temperature sensors 26 are arranged distributed over the width, also referred to as the web width.By means of the temperature sensor 26 and during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6, a temperature, in particular in the receiving area 8 and / or the surface 22, is detected, i.e. measured, in particular without contact.

[0036] As illustrated by an arrow 27, after the air has dried the coating webs 3 and 6, the air flows away from the coating webs 3 and 6 and, for example, out of the receiving area 8, so that the air flows away from the coating webs 3 and 6 after the coating webs 3 and 6 have been exposed to the heated air. This is illustrated by the arrow 27. A discharge path, illustrated by the arrow 27, is provided, via which the air is discharged from the coating webs 3 and 6 and, in particular, from the receiving area 8 after the coating webs 3 and 6 have been exposed to the air. For example, at least one volume and / or mass flow sensor is arranged in the discharge path, by means of which a volume and / or mass flow of air flowing through the discharge path is detected, in particular during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6.

[0037] The drying device 7 further comprises a heating element 28, in particular an electric one, which is arranged, for example, in the supply line 16. The air is heated by means of the heating element 28. A temperature sensor 29, for example, is provided, by means of which a temperature of the heating element 28 itself is detected, i.e., measured, particularly during the drying of the coating webs 3 and 6 and in particular while the air is being heated by the heating element 28.

[0038] The temperatures, volume flows, and differences, as well as the pressure, are measured variables that are measured while the coating webs 3 and 6 are being dried and while the composite is being passed through the receiving area 8. The drying of the coating webs 3 and 6 is also referred to as the drying process. Preferably, the electrode is manufactured depending on the measured variables. In particular, the drying process is carried out depending on the measured variables. For example, the composite is passed through the receiving area 8 depending on the measured variables.
