[0011] Hereinafter, an example of an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0012] (Embodiment) <Projection system 100 of embodiment> Fig. 1 is a diagram showing an example of a projection system 100 of an embodiment. As shown in Fig. 1, the projection system 100 includes a first projection device 10a, a second projection device 10b, a computer 50, and a colorimeter 131. The computer 50 is an example of the "control device" in the present invention.
[0013] The computer 50 is capable of communicating with the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b. In the example shown in FIG. 1 , the computer 50 is connected to the first projection device 10a via a communication cable 8a and is capable of communicating with the first projection device 10a. The computer 50 is also connected to the second projection device 10b via a communication cable 8b and is capable of communicating with the second projection device 10b. The computer 50 may be connected directly or indirectly to the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b. The first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b may also be configured as an integrated unit with the computer 50.
[0014] The first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b are projection devices capable of projecting onto the projection object 6. The colorimeter 131 is a device capable of measuring the colorimetric values of the light projected onto the projection object 6 from the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b.
[0015] The colorimeter 131 measures, for example, tristimulus values XYZ of the XYZ color system. The colorimeter 131 measures the colorimetric values while attached to, for example, a tripod 132. FIG. 1 shows the colorimeter 131 measuring the colorimetric values of light projected from the first projection device 10a. The computer 50 acquires the colorimetric values measured by the colorimeter 131. Note that the colorimetric values may also be acquired by capturing an image with a camera (a built-in camera of the first projection device 10a or the second projection device 10b or the computer 50, or an external camera). In addition, although the computer 50 is an example of a control device in this embodiment, the first projection device 10a or the second projection device 10b may also be an example of a control device.
[0016] The projection object 6 is an object such as a wall having a projection surface on which projected images are displayed by the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b. In the example shown in Fig. 1, the projection surface of the projection object 6 is a rectangular, flat wall. The wall is a projection surface that may have, for example, unevenness at the joints of the wall, obstacles such as recessed electrical outlets on the wall, patterns on the wall, or shadows from other objects. The top, bottom, left, and right of the projection object 6 in Fig. 1 are assumed to be the top, bottom, left, and right of the actual projection object 6.
[0017] The projection range 11a shown by the dashed dotted line on the left is the area of the projection object 6 onto which projection light is irradiated by the first projection device 10a. The projection range 11a is a part or all of the projectable range where projection is possible by the first projection device 10a. The projection range 11b shown by the dashed dotted line on the right is the area of the projection object 6 onto which projection light is irradiated by the second projection device 10b. The projection range 11b is a part or all of the projectable range where projection is possible by the second projection device 10b. In the example shown in FIG. 1, the projection ranges 11a and 11b are rectangular.
[0018] <First Projection Device 10a and Second Projection Device 10b> Fig. 2 is a diagram showing an example of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b. Each of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b is configured, for example, by the projection device 10 shown in Fig. 2. The projection device 10 includes a projection unit 1, a control unit 4, an operation reception unit 2, and a communication unit 5. The projection unit 1 is configured, for example, by a liquid crystal projector or a projector using LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon). The following description will be given assuming that the projection unit 1 is a liquid crystal projector.
[0019] The control unit 4 controls the projection by the projection device 10. The control unit 4 is a device including a control unit configured with various processors, a communication interface (not shown) for communicating with each unit, and a storage medium 4a such as a hard disk, an SSD (Solid State Drive), or a ROM (Read Only Memory), and controls the projection unit 1 in an integrated manner. The various processors of the control unit 4 include a CPU (Central Processing Unit), which is a general-purpose processor that executes programs to perform various processes; a programmable logic device (PLD), which is a processor whose circuit configuration can be changed after manufacture, such as an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array); or a dedicated electrical circuit, such as an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), which is a processor having a circuit configuration designed specifically for performing specific processing.
[0020] More specifically, the structure of these various processors is an electric circuit that combines circuit elements such as semiconductor elements. The control unit of the control unit 4 may be configured with one of the various processors, or may be configured with a combination of two or more processors of the same or different types (for example, a combination of multiple FPGAs or a combination of a CPU and an FPGA).
[0021] The operation reception unit 2 detects instructions from the user (user instructions) by receiving various operations from the user. The operation reception unit 2 may be a button, key, joystick, or the like provided on the control unit 4, or may be a receiving unit or the like that receives signals from a remote controller that remotely controls the control unit 4.
[0022] The communication unit 5 is a communication interface capable of communicating with the computer 50. The communication unit 5 may be a wired communication interface that performs wired communication as shown in Fig. 1, or a wireless communication interface that performs wireless communication.
[0023] The projection unit 1, the control unit 4, and the operation reception unit 2 may be realized by, for example, a single device (see, for example, FIGS. 4 and 5), or the projection unit 1, the control unit 4, and the operation reception unit 2 may be separate devices that communicate with each other and cooperate with each other.
[0024] <Internal Configuration of Projection Unit 1> Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram showing an example of the internal configuration of the projection unit 1. As shown in Fig. 3, the projection unit 1 of the projection device 10 shown in Fig. 2 includes a light source 21, a light modulation unit 22, a projection optical system 23, and a control circuit 24. The light source 21 includes a light-emitting element such as a laser or an LED (Light Emitting Diode), and emits, for example, white light.
[0025] The light modulation unit 22 is composed of three liquid crystal panels (light modulation elements) that modulate the color light emitted from the light source 21 and separated into three colors, red, blue, and green, by a color separation mechanism (not shown) based on image information to emit each color image, and a dichroic prism that mixes the color images emitted from the three liquid crystal panels and emits them in the same direction. These three liquid crystal panels may be equipped with red, blue, and green filters, respectively, and the white light emitted from the light source 21 may be modulated by each liquid crystal panel to emit each color image.
[0026] The projection optical system 23 receives light from the light source 21 and the light modulation unit 22, and is configured by, for example, a relay optical system including at least one lens. The light that passes through the projection optical system 23 is projected onto the projection object 6.
[0027] The area of the projection object 6 that is irradiated with light that passes through the entire range of the light modulation unit 22 is the projectable range in which projection can be performed by the projection unit 1. Within this projectable range, the area that is irradiated with light that actually passes through the light modulation unit 22 is the projection range (projection range 11a or projection range 11b) of the projection unit 1. For example, by controlling the size, position, and shape of the area of the light modulation unit 22 through which light passes, the size, position, and shape of the projection range of the projection unit 1 can be changed within the projectable range.
[0028] The control circuit 24 controls the light source 21, the light modulation unit 22, and the projection optical system 23 based on the display data input from the control unit 4, thereby projecting an image based on this display data onto the projection object 6. The display data input to the control circuit 24 is made up of three pieces of data: red display data, blue display data, and green display data.
[0029] Furthermore, the control circuit 24 changes the projection optical system 23 based on a command input from the control unit 4, thereby enlarging or reducing the projection range of the projection unit 1. Furthermore, the control unit 4 may change the projection optical system 23 based on an operation from the user accepted by the operation accepting unit 2, thereby moving the projection range of the projection unit 1.
[0030] The projection device 10 also includes a shift mechanism that mechanically or optically shifts the projection range of the projection unit 1 while maintaining the image circle of the projection optical system 23. The image circle of the projection optical system 23 is the area through which projection light incident on the projection optical system 23 passes through the projection optical system 23 appropriately in terms of light intensity loss, color separation, peripheral curvature, etc.
[0031] The shift mechanism is realized by at least one of an optical system shift mechanism that performs an optical system shift and an electronic shift mechanism that performs an electronic shift.
[0032] The optical system shift mechanism is, for example, a mechanism that moves the projection optical system 23 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis (see, for example, FIGS. 5 and 29), or a mechanism that moves the light modulation unit 22 in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis instead of moving the projection optical system 23. The optical system shift mechanism may also be a mechanism that moves the projection optical system 23 and the light modulation unit 22 in combination.
[0033] The electronic shift mechanism is a mechanism that shifts the pseudo projection range by changing the range through which light is transmitted in the light modulation section 22 .
[0034] The projection device 10 may also include a projection direction change mechanism that moves the projection range together with the image circle of the projection optical system 23. The projection direction change mechanism is a mechanism that changes the projection direction of the projection unit 1 by changing the orientation of the projection unit 1 through mechanical rotation (see, for example, FIG. 29 ).
[0035] <Mechanical Configuration of Projection Device 10> Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram showing the external configuration of the projection device 10. Fig. 5 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the optical unit 106 of the projection device 10 shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 5 shows a cross section taken along a plane along the optical path of light emitted from the main body 101 shown in Fig. 4.
[0036] 4, the projection device 10 includes a main body 101 and an optical unit 106 that protrudes from the main body 101. In the configuration shown in Fig. 4, the operation reception unit 2, the control unit 4, the light source 21, the light modulation unit 22, and the control circuit 24 in the projection unit 1, and the communication unit 5 are provided in the main body 101. The projection optical system 23 in the projection unit 1 is provided in the optical unit 106.
[0037] The optical unit 106 includes a first member 102 supported by the main body 101. The optical unit 106 may be configured to be detachable from the main body 101 (in other words, configured to be replaceable).
[0038] As shown in FIG. 5, the main body 101 has a housing 15 in which an opening 15a for passing light is formed at a portion connected to the optical unit 106.
[0039] 4, a light source 21 and a light modulation unit 12 including a light modulation section 22 (see FIG. 3) that generates an image by spatially modulating the light emitted from the light source 21 based on input image data are provided inside the housing 15 of the main body 101. The light emitted from the light source 21 is incident on the light modulation section 22 of the light modulation unit 12, spatially modulated by the light modulation section 22, and then emitted.
[0040] As shown in Figure 5, the image formed by the light spatially modulated by the light modulation unit 12 passes through the opening 15a of the housing 15 and enters the optical unit 106, and is projected onto the projection object 6, making the image G1 visible to the observer.
[0041] The optical unit 106 includes a first member 102 having a hollow portion 2A connected to the inside of the main body portion 101, a first optical system 121 arranged in the hollow portion 2A, a lens 34, and a first shift mechanism 105.
[0042] The first member 102 is a member having, for example, a rectangular cross-sectional outer shape, and the openings 2a and 2b are formed on planes parallel to each other. The first member 102 is supported by the main body 101 with the opening 2a positioned opposite the opening 15a of the main body 101. Light emitted from the light modulation section 22 of the light modulation unit 12 in the main body 101 passes through the openings 15a and 2a and enters the hollow section 2A of the first member 102.
[0043] The direction of light incident from the main body 101 into the hollow portion 2A is referred to as direction X1, the opposite direction to direction X1 is referred to as direction X2, and directions X1 and X2 are collectively referred to as direction X. In addition, in Figure 5, the direction from the front of the page toward the back and the opposite direction are referred to as direction Z. Of direction Z, the direction from the front of the page toward the back is referred to as direction Z1, and the direction from the back of the page toward the front is referred to as direction Z2.
[0044] Furthermore, a direction perpendicular to direction X and direction Z is referred to as direction Y, and within direction Y, the upward direction in Fig. 5 is referred to as direction Y1, and the downward direction in Fig. 5 is referred to as direction Y2. In the example of Fig. 5, the projection device 10 is disposed so that direction Y2 is the vertical direction.
[0045] 5, the projection optical system 23 shown in Fig. 3 is configured with a first optical system 121 and a lens 34. Fig. 5 also shows the optical axis K of the projection optical system 23. The first optical system 121 and the lens 34 are arranged along the optical axis K in this order from the light modulation unit 22 side.
[0046] The first optical system 121 includes at least one lens, and guides light traveling in the direction X1 that is incident on the first member 102 from the main body 101 to the lens 34 .
[0047] The lens 34 is disposed at the end of the first member 102 on the direction X1 side so as to cover the opening 2b formed at this end. The lens 34 projects the light incident from the first optical system 121 onto the projection object 6.
[0048] The first shift mechanism 105 is a mechanism for moving the optical axis K of the projection optical system (in other words, the optical unit 106) in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis K (direction Y in FIG. 5 ). Specifically, the first shift mechanism 105 is configured to be able to change the position of the first member 102 in direction Y relative to the main body 101. The first shift mechanism 105 may be one that moves the first member 102 manually, or one that moves the first member 102 electrically.
[0049] Fig. 5 shows a state in which the first member 102 has been moved to the maximum extent in the direction Y1 by the first shift mechanism 105. When the first member 102 is moved in the direction Y2 by the first shift mechanism 105 from the state shown in Fig. 5, the relative position between the center of the image formed by the light modulation unit 22 (in other words, the center of the display surface) and the optical axis K changes, and the image G1 projected onto the projection object 6 can be shifted (translated) in the direction Y2.
[0050] The first shift mechanism 105 may be a mechanism that moves the light modulation unit 22 in the direction Y, instead of moving the optical unit 106 in the direction Y. Even in this case, the image G1 projected onto the projection object 6 can be moved in the direction Y.
[0051] <Hardware Configuration of Computer 50> Fig. 6 is a diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of the computer 50. As shown in Fig. 5, the computer 50 shown in Fig. 1 includes a processor 51, a memory 52, a communication interface 53, and a user interface 54. The processor 51, the memory 52, the communication interface 53, and the user interface 54 are connected by, for example, a bus 59.
[0052] The processor 51 is a circuit that performs signal processing, and is, for example, a CPU that controls the entire computer 50. The processor 51 may be realized by other digital circuits such as an FPGA or a DSP (Digital Signal Processor). The processor 51 may also be realized by combining multiple digital circuits.
[0053] The memory 52 includes, for example, a main memory and an auxiliary memory. The main memory is, for example, a RAM (Random Access Memory). The main memory is used as a work area for the processor 51.
[0054] The auxiliary memory is a non-volatile memory such as a magnetic disk, an optical disk, a flash memory, etc. The auxiliary memory stores various programs that operate the computer 50. The programs stored in the auxiliary memory are loaded into the main memory and executed by the processor 51.
[0055] The auxiliary memory may also include portable memory that is removable from the computer 50. Portable memory includes memory cards such as a USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash drive or an SD (Secure Digital) memory card, and an external hard disk drive.
[0056] The communication interface 53 is a communication interface that communicates with the outside of the computer 50 (for example, the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b). The communication interface 53 is controlled by the processor 51. The communication interface 53 may be a wired communication interface that performs wired communication, a wireless communication interface that performs wireless communication, or may include both a wired communication interface and a wireless communication interface.
[0057] The user interface 54 includes, for example, an input device that accepts operation input from the user and an output device that outputs information to the user. The input device can be realized by, for example, a pointing device (for example, a mouse), keys (for example, a keyboard), or a remote control. The output device can be realized by, for example, a display or a speaker. The input device and the output device may also be realized by, for example, a touch panel. The user interface 54 is controlled by the processor 51.
[0058] <Generation of Lookup Table (LUT) for Color Adjustment> Generation of a lookup table for color adjustment will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0059] 7 is a diagram showing how a lookup table for color adjustment is generated. The computer 50 generates the lookup table for color adjustment in advance to perform color adjustment between the projections of the first projector 10a and the second projector 10b. This lookup table is generated using one arbitrarily selected projector.
[0060] The selected projection device may be, for example, one of the first projection device 10a or the second projection device 10b described in Fig. 1, or may be a different projection device. However, the first projection device 10a, the second projection device 10b, and the different projection device are projection devices having the same or similar projection characteristics. Having the same or similar projection characteristics means, for example, that the optical design is the same (for example, the same model).
[0061] In this example, the lookup table is generated using the first projection device 10a, as shown in Fig. 7. The lookup table may be generated at the site where the projection system 100 is installed, or at a location different from the site (for example, a manufacturing plant). The lookup table (LUT) is an example of "adjustment data" in the present invention.
[0062] 8 is a diagram showing an example of a lookup table generation process. First, in order to generate a lookup table for a predetermined color for color adjustment, the computer 50 creates an image of a test pattern I(r, g, b) for the predetermined color and transmits the created test pattern I(r, g, b) to the first projection device 10a.
[0063] As will be described later, color adjustment may be performed for multiple colors (e.g., white, cyan, magenta, etc.), but here, the case where the adjustment color is white will be described. When the adjustment color is white, the test pattern is test pattern I (r, g, b = 255). White (r, g, b = 255) is an example of the "first color" in the present invention. Note that when the adjustment color is cyan, the test pattern is I (r, g, b = 0, 255, 255), and when the adjustment color is magenta, the test pattern is I (r, g, b = 255, 0, 255).
[0064] At this time, the computer 50 also changes color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, ..., pn) as parameters, and sequentially transmits test patterns I with different color adjustment parameters P to the first projection device 10a. In this example, the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, ..., pn) are parameters for gain adjustment for each of the color components R, G, and B of the image. Therefore, the gain of R is p1, the gain of G is p2, and the gain of B is p3, and the color adjustment parameters P = (p1, p2, p3).
[0065] The color adjustment parameter P is a parameter for adjusting (changing) the color of the projection. Note that the color adjustment parameter is not limited to a gain value for each of R, G, and B, but may be, for example, an offset value for each of R, G, and B, or a combination of a gain value and an offset value. The color adjustment parameter may also include other parameters such as hue.
[0066] The first projection device 10 a sequentially projects test patterns I (r, g, b) with varying color adjustment parameters P received from the computer 50 onto the projection object 6 .
[0067] The colorimeter 131 measures the XYZ values (XYZ (r,g,b=255) (p1, p2, p3) are measured respectively.
[0068] The computer 50 sets, as the reference white, the XYZ values of the color adjustment parameter P that result in the maximum luminance (maximum brightness) for white, among the XYZ values for the white test pattern measured by the colorimeter 131. The computer 50 converts the XYZ values of the reference white into values on, for example, the Lab color space 61. L indicates brightness, and a and b indicate chromaticity. This color space expresses relative color values based on the reference white. The computer 50 converts each XYZ value obtained by changing the color adjustment parameter P into values on the Lab color space 61. The Lab color space 61 is an example of the "specific color space" of the present invention. Note that, for example, the "Luv color space" may also be used as the specific color space.
[0069] The computer 50 creates a lookup table 62 that indicates the relationship between the color adjustment parameter P and the position in the Lab color space 61. The lookup table 62 has inputs p1, p2, ..., pn and outputs L. * a * b * In this example, since the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) are R, G, and B gain values, the lookup table is three-dimensional.
[0070] The absolute color of the adjusted color (e.g., white) differs between projection devices (e.g., the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b). In this invention, we focus on the fact that projection devices with the same or similar projection characteristics have the same tendency for relative color movement for a certain color (adjusted color) due to the color adjustment parameters of the projection device, and perform color adjustment of the projection device using a lookup table that records this relative color movement. The above-mentioned projection devices with the same or similar projection characteristics refer to projection devices with projection characteristics that can be considered to have the same tendency for relative color movement due to the color adjustment parameters.
[0071] FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing the process of generating a lookup table by the processor 51 of the computer 50.
[0072] The processor 51 causes the first projection device 10a to project the test pattern I(r, g, b) of the adjusted color onto the projection object 6 (step S11). In this example, as described above, a white test pattern I(r, g, b=255) is projected.
[0073] The processor 51 sequentially projects the test pattern I(r, g, b) for a plurality of combinations obtained by varying the color adjustment parameters P(p1, p2, p3) for white. As described above, p1 is the R gain, p2 is the G gain, and p3 is the B gain.
[0074] The processor 51 sets the target combination of color adjustment parameters P in the first projection device 10a and projects the test pattern I(r, g, b) (step S12).
[0075] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ (r,g,b=255) (p1, p2, p3)) is measured by the colorimeter 131 (step S13). In this case, the processor 51 may issue a message such as "Please perform color measurement," or may control the colorimeter 131 to measure the color.
[0076] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ (r,g,b=255) The colorimetric values of (p1, p2, p3) are acquired from the colorimeter 131 (step S14).
[0077] Next, the processor 51 converts the colorimetric values of each XYZ value obtained by changing the white color adjustment parameter P into values on a specific color space (in this example, the Lab color space 61) (step S15).
[0078] Next, the processor 51 creates a lookup table (r, g, b=255) for white adjustment that indicates the relationship between a plurality of combinations of the color adjustment parameter P and values in the Lab color space 61 (step S16).
[0079] Fig. 10 is a diagram showing an example of color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3). As shown in Fig. 10, the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) are parameters for adjusting the gain for each of R, G, and B, for example, and the output also changes continuously in response to an increase or decrease in the parameter. As described above, the R gain is p1, the G gain is p2, and the B gain is p3. Note that for ease of explanation, Fig. 10 shows input and output as linear.
[0080] When the processor 51 measures the XYZ values by changing the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3), it measures the colors for multiple combinations in which the R gain value (p1), G gain value (p2), and B gain value (p3) are each changed in increments of 0.02 from 1.0 to 0.5. The XYZ values of the reference white described above are the colorimetric values of the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) when the R, G, and B gain values are all set to 1.0. Note that, although colorimetric measurements are performed by changing the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) in increments of 0.02, the colorimetric values between these values can also be calculated by interpolation using, for example, nearby colorimetric values.
[0081] 11 is a diagram showing an example of a lookup table when the adjustment color is white. As described above, the lookup table (LUT) is a three-dimensional table that indicates the relationship between the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) and positions in the Lab color space.
[0082] The lookup table when the adjustment color is white is LUT 白 =LUT (255,255,255) The relationship between the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) and the position in the Lab color space is expressed as follows: * , a * , b * ) = LUT (r,g,b) Therefore, when the adjustment color is white, the relationship between the color adjustment parameters P(p1, p2, p3) and the position in the Lab color space is expressed as (L * , a * , b * ) = LUT (255,255,255) (R gain, G gain, B gain) is displayed.
[0083] The gain value of the color adjustment parameter P (p1, p2, p3) in the reference white that gives the maximum luminance is R, G, B gain = 1.0, so the position of the reference white in the Lab color space is (L * , a * , b * ) = (100,0,0), the relationship is (100,0,0) = LUT (255,255,255) (1.0, 1.0, 1.0). This relationship is set as a spatial position 63 in the three-dimensional lookup table shown in FIG.
[0084] <Color Adjustment of Projection Devices Using Lookup Table> Color adjustment between the projections of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b using a lookup table for color adjustment will be described with reference to FIGS. 12 to 15. FIG.
[0085] FIG. 12 is a flowchart showing a color adjustment process using a lookup table by the processor 51 of the computer 50.
[0086] First, the processor 51 causes the first projection device 10a to project a test pattern I(r, g, b) of the adjusted color toward the projection object 6 (step S21). In this example, a case will be described in which the white color between the projections of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b is adjusted using the lookup table for white adjustment created as described above. Therefore, in step S21, the processor 51 causes the first projection device 10a to project a white test pattern I(r, g, b=255). Note that while the first projection device 10a is projecting, the processor 51 controls the second projection device 10b so that no light is projected.
[0087] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3)) is measured by the colorimeter 131 (step S22). In this case, the processor 51 may issue a message such as "Please perform color measurement," or may control the colorimeter 131 to measure the color. Note that the colorimetric value of white is expressed as "XYZ 白 ,” and the colorimetric values of the first projection device 10a are “XYZPJ1 " should be written as ".
[0088] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3) is acquired from the colorimeter 131 (step S23).
[0089] Next, similarly to the case of the first projection device 10a, the processor 51 causes the second projection device 10b to project a white test pattern I (r, g, b = 255) onto the projection object 6 (step S24). At this time, the processor 51 controls the first projection device 10a so that no light is projected.
[0090] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ 白 PJ2 (p1, p2, p3)) is measured by the colorimeter 131 (step S25). PJ2 In this case, the processor 51 may also issue a message such as "Please perform color measurement," or may control the colorimeter 131 to perform color measurement.
[0091] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ values (XYZ 白 PJ2 (p1, p2, p3) is acquired from the colorimeter 131 (step S26).
[0092] Next, the processor 51 performs a determination process to determine appropriate color adjustment parameters for matching (bringing closer) the white colors of the first and second projection devices 10a and 10b (step S27). This determination process will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG. 13.
[0093] Next, the processor 51 sets the appropriate color adjustment parameters determined in the determination process of step S27 to the adjustment projection device (either the first projection device 10a or the second projection device 10b) also determined in the determination process of step S27 (step S28), and ends this color adjustment process.
[0094] 13 is a flowchart showing the color adjustment parameter determination process performed by the processor 51. The color adjustment parameter determination process corresponds to the process in step S27 in FIG.
[0095] The processor 51 calculates the XYZ coordinates of the first projection device 10a measured in step S22. 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3) and the XYZ of the second projection device 10b measured in step S25 白 PJ2 By comparing (p1, p2, p3), the projection device with the larger Y (brightness) is determined as the adjustment projection device (Adj) that adjusts color, and the projection device with the smaller Y is determined as the reference projection device (Ref) that does not adjust color (step S31).
[0096] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ colorimetry values of the white of the adjusted projection device. 白 Adj is used as the reference white, and the color measurement value (XYZ 白 Adj ) to the value (L * a * b *白 Adj ) and calculate the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 Ref ) to the value (L * a * b *白 Ref ) is calculated (step S32). The colorimetric values of the adjusted projection device (Adj) are calculated as "XYZ Adj ", and the value in the Lab color space is "L * a * b * Adj ". Also, the color measurement values of the reference projection device (Ref) are expressed as "XYZ Ref ", and the value in the Lab color space is "L * a * b * Ref " should be written as ".
[0097] Next, the processor 51 searches the input white adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) in the lookup table for white adjustment (r, g, b=255) created in step S16 of FIG. 9, and calculates the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The color adjustment parameter P that gives the minimum color difference (ΔE) between the pred is calculated (step S33). pred is calculated by the following formula (1).
[0098] P pred =argmin(p1,p2,p3)(||L * a * b *白 Ref -LUT 白 (p1, p2, p3) | |) = argmin (p1, p2, p3) (ΔE * ab 白 (p1, p2, p3)) …(1)
[0099] Color adjustment parameter P pred is the colorimetric value (XYZ) of the adjusted projection device. 白 Adj ) in the Lab color space is expressed as the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 Ref ) in the Lab color space. The position in the Lab color space (specific color space) is, for example, * , a * , b * The color adjustment parameter P pred is an example of the "first color adjustment parameter" in the present invention.
[0100] The lookup table in this embodiment is *Therefore, the projection distance from the first projection device 10a to the projection object 6 when the lookup table is generated (FIG. 7) may be different from the projection distance when the generated lookup table is applied (FIG. 1).
[0101] FIG. 14 is a diagram showing the setting of positions in the Lab color space in the process of determining color adjustment parameters.
[0102] As shown in FIG. 14, the processor 51 converts the colorimetric values of the first projection device 10a into XYZ values. 白 PJ1 The processor 51 also sets the colorimetric values of the second projection device 10b as XYZ (p1, p2, p3). 白 PJ2 The processor 51 sets the XYZ 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3) and XYZ 白 PJ2 (p1, p2, p3) are compared, and the projection device with the larger Y (brightness) is determined as the adjustment projection device (Adj) that adjusts the color of the test pattern I, and the projection device with the smaller Y is determined as the reference projection device (Ref) that does not adjust the color of the test pattern I. This corresponds to the processing of step S31 in FIG.
[0103] In this example, the XYZ of the first projection device 10a 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3) is the XYZ coordinate of the second projection device 10b. 白 PJ2 Assume that Y is greater than (p1, p2, p3). Therefore, the processor 51 determines the first projection device 10a as the adjustment projection device (Adj). The processor 51 also determines the second projection device 10b as the reference projection device (Ref).
[0104] Next, the processor 51 converts the colorimetric values of the adjusted projection device (Adj) into XYZ 白 Adj The processor 51 also sets the colorimetric values of the reference projection device (Ref) as XYZ. 白 Ref Set it as (p1, p2, p3).
[0105] Next, the processor 51 calculates the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 Adj ) to the value (L * a * b *白 Adj ) and the processor 51 calculates the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 Ref ) to the value (L * a * b *白 Ref At this time, the white color measurement value (XYZ 白 Adj ) is used as the reference white. Therefore, the value (L * a * b *白 Adj ) becomes (100, 0, 0) in the Lab color space. This corresponds to the processing in step S32 in FIG.
[0106] XYZ 白 PJ1 The brightness based on (p1, p2, p3) is XYZ 白 PJ2 Brighter than the brightness based on (p1, p2, p3). * The L based on the colorimetric values of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b is * The higher the value, the more accurate the projection device will be. * The one with the lower color measurement value (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) is an example of the "first colorimetric value" of the present invention. 白 PJ2 ) is an example of the "second colorimetric value" of the present invention.
[0107] As shown in FIG. 14, in the Lab color space 61, the L of the adjustment projection device (first projection device 10a) * a * b *白 Adj The value is determined at the spatial position 71, and the L* a * b *白 Ref The value is determined at spatial location 72. * a * b *白 Adj The value is (100, 0, 0). * a * b *白 Adj The spatial position of the value 71 and L * a * b *白 Ref The closer the spatial positions 72 of the values are, the closer the colors projected by the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b are.
[0108] 15 is a diagram showing how color adjustment parameters are determined in the color adjustment parameter determination process. As shown in FIG. 15, the processor 51 performs a full search of a white adjustment lookup table (r, g, b=255) 62 for white adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3), for example, as shown in a search path 64.
[0109] The processor 51 calculates the colorimetric values (XYZ) obtained when applied to the projection of white light by the adjusted projection device. 白 Adj ) in the Lab color space 61 and the colorimetric values (XYZ) obtained by projecting white using a reference projection device. 白 Ref ) in the Lab color space 61 and the color difference between pred Decide on 65.
[0110] The processor 51 selects the color adjustment parameter P , which minimizes the color difference, from the color adjustment parameters in the lookup table (r, g, b=255) 62. pred Specifically, the processor 51 determines the L of the adjusted projection device as 65. * a * b *白 Adj Position of the value and L of the reference projection device * a * b *白 Ref The color adjustment parameter Ppred Decide on 65.
[0111] The processor 51 determines the color adjustment parameter P pred 65 is set as the adjustment projection device (first projection device 10a) and the test pattern I is projected. (r,g,b=255) When the value is converted into a value in the Lab color space 61, the L * a * b *白 PJ1 The location of the value is determined to be the spatial location 66 .
[0112] As described above, the computer 50 of this embodiment uses a lookup table that is created in advance as information indicating the relationship between the color adjustment parameter P and the position in the Lab color space, and the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) and the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ2 ) and based on the colorimetric value (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) in the Lab color space is determined by the colorimetric value (XYZ 白 PJ2 ) to approach the position in the Lab color space. pred According to this configuration, color adjustment is performed using a lookup table that records the relative color movement according to the color adjustment parameters of the projection device 10, so it is possible to perform color adjustment accurately in a short time.
[0113] <Modification of Color Adjustment Using Lookup Table> A modification of color adjustment between the projections of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b using a lookup table for color adjustment will be described with reference to FIGS. 16 and 17. FIG.
[0114] Fig. 16 is a flowchart showing a modified example of the color adjustment process using a lookup table by the processor 51. The color adjustment process in Fig. 12 described above focuses on adjusting only the white color. However, due to the internal configuration of the projection device, there are colors that are difficult to control and prone to deviation due to factors such as the combination of light sources and color wheels, and specific representative colors used in each image, and there are cases where colors other than white need to be adjusted. Therefore, in this modified example, a case where multiple colors are adjusted will be described.
[0115] First, the processor 51 creates a color adjustment lookup table indicating the relationship between a plurality of combinations of the color adjustment parameter P and values in the Lab color space 61 for colors to be adjusted other than white, in the same manner as in FIGS. 7 to 11. (r,g,b) For example, when the adjustment color is cyan, the lookup table is (r, g, b = 0, 255, 255), and when the adjustment color is magenta, the lookup table is (r, g, b = 255, 0, 255).
[0116] Next, the processor 51 performs the processes from step S41 to step S46 for each of the plurality of adjustment colors, as shown in Fig. 16. The plurality of adjustment colors may include cyan, magenta, etc. in addition to white. Note that the processes from step S41 to step S46 are the same as the processes from step S21 to step S26 described in Fig. 12, and therefore description thereof will be omitted.
[0117] Next, the processor 51 performs a determination process to determine appropriate color adjustment parameters for matching (bringing closer) the colors of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b based on the information acquired in steps S41 to S46 (step S47). This determination process will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG. 17.
[0118] Next, the processor 51 sets the appropriate color adjustment parameters determined in the determination process of step S47 to the adjustment projection device (either the first projection device 10a or the second projection device 10b) also determined in the determination process of step S47 (step S48).
[0119] 17 is a flowchart showing a modified example of the color adjustment parameter determination process by the processor 51. The color adjustment parameter determination process corresponds to the process of step S47 in FIG.
[0120] The processor 51 calculates the XYZ values of the first projection device 10a measured in step S42. 白 PJ1 (p1, p2, p3) and the XYZ of the second projection device 10b measured in step S45 白 PJ2 By comparing (p1, p2, p3), the projection device with the larger Y (brightness) is determined as the adjustment projection device (Adj) that adjusts color, and the projection device with the smaller Y is determined as the reference projection device (Ref) that does not adjust color (step S51).
[0121] Next, the processor 51 calculates the XYZ colorimetry values of the white of the adjusted projection device. 白 Adj is used as the reference white, and for each adjusted color, the color measurement value (XYZ 調整色 Adj ) to the value (L * a * b *調整色 Adj ) and calculate the colorimetric values (XYZ 調整色 Ref ) to the value (L * a * b *調整色 Ref ) is calculated (step S52). The colorimetric values of each adjusted color are calculated as "XYZ 調整色 The value of each adjusted color in the Lab color space is expressed as "L * a * b *調整色 " should be written as ".
[0122] Next, the processor 51 calculates the value (L * a * b *調整色 Adj ) in the adjustment color lookup table * a * b *調整色 AdjThe offset value for adjusting the base point of the value is the value on the Lab color space of the reference projection device (L * a * b *調整色 Ref ) (step S53).
[0123] If the adjustment color is white, * a * b *白 Adj Since the base point of the value is (100,0,0), no special processing is required to align the base point. However, for other (non-white) adjustment colors, the L of the adjustment projection device * a * b *調整色 Adj The base point of the value and the L expected in the lookup table of the adjusted color * a * b *調整色 Adj The base value may vary slightly due to measurement errors, etc.
[0124] The processor 51 calculates this deviation as an offset value and compares it with the look-up table. * a * b *調整色 Ref By reflecting the offset value in the value, a correction process is performed to reduce the deviation of the base point. * a * b *調整色 The Ref+Offset value is calculated by the following equation (2).
[0125] Offset value = LUT 調整色 (P base point) -L * a * b *調整色 Adj L * a * b *調整色 Ref+Offset=L * a * b *調整色 Ref +Offset value ... (2)
[0126] The P base point is, for example, the base point when the R, G, B gain values are 1.0. It is possible to correct the output value of the lookup table, but applying this to the entire lookup table increases the processing load. Therefore, the L of the reference projection device is used. * a * b *調整色 Ref Correct the value.
[0127] Next, the processor 51 creates a lookup table for color adjustment for each adjustment color. (r,g,b) , the color adjustment parameters P (p1, p2, p3) for each input adjustment color are searched for, and the L of the reference projection device that reflects the offset value for each adjustment color is calculated. * a * b *調整色 The color adjustment parameter P that gives the minimum value in the sum of the color differences with Ref+Offset pred is calculated (step S54). pred is calculated by the following equation (3).
[0128] P pred =argmin(p1, p2, p3)(Σ 調整色 ||L * a * b *調整色 Ref+Offset-LUT 調整色 (p1, p2, p3) | |) = argmin (p1, p2, p3) (Σ 調整色 ΔE * ab 調整色 (p1, p2, p3)) …(3)
[0129] Specifically, in step S54, the processor 51 creates a lookup table (r, g, b=255) for adjusting white and a lookup table (r, g, b=255) for adjusting the adjustment color. (r,g,b) and colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) and colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ2 ) and colorimetric values (XYZ 調整色 PJ1 ) and colorimetric values (XYZ 調整色 PJ2 ) and the color adjustment parameter Ppred Determine.
[0130] The processor 51 calculates the colorimetric values (XYZ) obtained when applied to the projection of white light by the adjusted projection device. 白 Adj ) in the Lab color space 61 and the colorimetric values (XYZ) obtained by projecting white using a reference projection device. 白 Ref ) in the Lab color space 61 and calculates a first color difference, which is the difference between the position of the adjusted color and the position of the adjusted color. 調整色 Adj ) in the Lab color space 61 and the colorimetric values (XYZ) obtained by projecting the adjusted color using the reference projection device. 調整色 Ref ) in the Lab color space 61 and a second color difference, which is the difference between
[0131] Then, the processor 51 calculates a color adjustment parameter P based on the result of adding the first color difference and the second color difference. pred The processor 51 determines the look-up table for each adjustment color (e.g., white, cyan, magenta, etc.). (r,g,b) Among the color adjustment parameters, the color adjustment parameter that minimizes the sum of the first color difference and the second color difference is designated as the color adjustment parameter P pred The colorimetric values (XYZ 調整色 PJ1 ) is an example of the "third colorimetric value" of the present invention. 調整色 PJ2 ) is an example of the "fourth colorimetric value" of the present invention. 調整色 The adjusted colors in are, for example, cyan, magenta, etc.
[0132] The processor 51 may perform weighted addition of the color differences when adding the first color difference and the second color difference. pred When determining the adjustment colors, for example, the priority of the colors in the content of the image to be projected may be taken into consideration, and weighting may be applied to each adjustment color.
[0133] In this way, even when adjustments are made with multiple colors, color adjustments can be made quickly and accurately by using a lookup table for each adjustment color that records the relative color movement due to the color adjustment parameters of the projection device 10.
[0134] <Setting of Adjustment Projection Device (Adj) and Reference Projection Device (Ref)> Fig. 18 is a diagram showing an example of setting a projection device with a large Y (luminance) as the adjustment projection device (Adj). When a projection device with a large Y is set as the adjustment projection device, as shown in Fig. 18, the L of the adjustment projection device in the Lab color space 61 is * a * b *白 Adj The value is determined at spatial position 71, for example.
[0135] Then, the L of the reference projection device, which is the projection device with the small Y, * a * b *白 Ref The value is determined, for example, at spatial position 72. Here, if the XYZ values of the white of the adjusted projection device are taken as the reference white, then spatial position 71 is determined as the L * a * b *白 Adj The value is (100, 0, 0).
[0136] In this case, the Y of the adjustment projection device (Adj) is lowered to adjust the Y of the adjustment projection device (Adj) to the Y of the reference projection device (Ref). * a * b *白 Adj The position of the value (spatial position 71) is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The color adjustment parameter P pred The color adjustment parameters 82 (marked with stars) in the lookup table (r, g, b=255) 81 are determined as follows:
[0137] Then, the determined color adjustment parameters 82 are applied to the adjusted projection device (Adj), thereby adjusting the L of the adjusted projection device. * a* b *白 Adj The position showing the value is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The position closest to the value position (spatial position 72) (minimum color difference) is the position.
[0138] 19 is a diagram showing an example of setting a projection device with a small Y (luminance) as the adjustment projection device (Adj). When a projection device with a small Y is set as the adjustment projection device, as shown in FIG. 19, the L of the adjustment projection device in the Lab color space 61 is * a * b *白 Adj The value is determined at spatial location 72, for example.
[0139] Then, the L of the reference projection device, which is a projection device with a large Y, * a * b *白 Ref The value is determined, for example, at spatial position 71. Here, if the XYZ values of the white of the adjusted projection device are taken as the reference white, then spatial position 72 is determined as the L * a * b *白 Adj The value is (100, 0, 0).
[0140] In this case, the adjustment projection device (Adj) with a small Y is adjusted to adjust the L of the reference projection device (Ref) with a large Y. * a * b *白 Ref The L of the adjustment projection device is adjusted to approach the position of the value (spatial position 71). * a * b *白 Adj The position of the value (spatial position 72) is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The color adjustment parameter P pred The color adjustment parameters 83 (marked with stars) in the lookup table (r, g, b=255) 81 are determined as follows:
[0141] Then, the determined color adjustment parameters 83 are applied to the adjusted projection device (Adj), thereby adjusting the L of the adjusted projection device. * a * b *白 Adj The position showing the value is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The position (minimum color difference) is closest to the position of the value (spatial position 71).
[0142] When adjusting the color of multiple projection devices 10, there are cases where it is undesirable to adjust the brightness of a projection device with a high brightness by reducing (darkening) it to match that of a projection device with a low brightness. Also, there are cases where the user has decided which projection device will be used as the adjustment reference based on the layout of multiple projection devices. Therefore, by allowing the user to select which projection device will be used as the adjustment projection device and which projection device will be used as the reference projection device, it becomes possible to perform color adjustment of the projection devices in accordance with the user's intentions.
[0143] <Determining Color Adjustment Parameters Using Chromaticity Difference> Fig. 20 is a diagram showing an example of determining color adjustment parameters based on chromaticity difference. In the example described above, input parameters are searched for in a lookup table, and the L of the reference projection device is determined. * a * b * The color difference (ΔE * ab ) is the color adjustment parameter P pred However, the present invention is not limited to the above, and for example, the chromaticity difference (Δa * b * ) is the color adjustment parameter P pred may be determined.
[0144] For example, as shown in FIG. 20, when a projection device with a small Y is set as an adjustment projection device (Adj), the L of the adjustment projection device is * a * b *白 Adj The position of the value (spatial position 72) is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 RefThe color adjustment parameter P pred Determine.
[0145] In this case, the color adjustment parameter P pred The color adjustment parameters 84 (marked with stars) in the lookup table (r, g, b=255) 81 are determined as follows. Then, by applying the determined color adjustment parameters 84 to the adjusted projection device (Adj), the L of the adjusted projection device is * a * b *白 Adj The position showing the value is the L of the reference projection device. * a * b *白 Ref The position closest to the value position (spatial position 71) (minimum chromaticity difference) is the position.
[0146] In this way, the color adjustment parameter P pred When determining the chromaticity difference (Δa * b * ), it becomes possible to perform color adjustment of the projection device in accordance with the user's intentions.
[0147] <Correction of colorimetric values in the presence of disturbance light> Correction of colorimetric values in the presence of disturbance light during color adjustment of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b will be described with reference to Fig. 21 and Fig. 22. Fig. 21 is a diagram showing an example of color adjustment in an environment with disturbance light. Fig. 22 is a diagram showing an example of colorimetric measurement of disturbance light in an environment with only disturbance light.
[0148] The generation of the color adjustment lookup table described in Fig. 7 is based on the assumption that the lookup table is generated in an environment free of ambient light when measuring the color of an image. Therefore, the color adjustment process using the lookup tables described in Figs. 1 and 12 also requires that the color adjustment process be performed in an environment free of ambient light. However, at an actual installation site of the projection system 100, for example, as shown in Fig. 21 , task lighting 91 or the like is provided, making it difficult to reproduce an environment free of ambient light when adjusting the color.
[0149] Therefore, in this case, the ambient light colorimetric values are measured in an environment with only the task lighting 91 (ambient light) as shown in Fig. 22. Then, when acquiring the colorimetric values in steps S23 and S26 in the color adjustment process of Fig. 12, the ambient light colorimetric values are subtracted from the colorimetric values of the colorimeter 131, and then color adjustment processing is performed using a lookup table.
[0150] Therefore, the colorimetric values (XYZ) of the first projection device 10a in the color adjustment of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b are 白 PJ1 ) is a value obtained by subtracting the colorimetric value of the first projection device 10a in a non-projecting state from the colorimetric value of the light projected, for example, in white from the first projection device 10a. 白 PJ2 ) is a value obtained by subtracting the colorimetric value of the second projection device 10b in a non-projection state from the colorimetric value of light projected, for example, in white from the second projection device 10b. The non-projection state refers to an environment in which the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b are not projecting, and only the task lighting 91 (ambient light) is irradiated.
[0151] In this way, in color adjustment of the projection device 10, the influence of ambient light during color measurement can be eliminated, making it possible to perform even more accurate color adjustment.
[0152] <Guide for Colorimetry Position> Guides for the position at which colorimetry values are measured when performing color adjustment on the projection device 10 will be described with reference to Figs. 23 to 25. Fig. 23 is a diagram showing an example of a state in which the colorimetry position is not stable during colorimetry. Fig. 24 is a diagram showing an example of guide lines 92 that guide the colorimetry position. Fig. 25 is a diagram showing a state in which the guide lines 92 shown in Fig. 24 have disappeared.
[0153] When performing color adjustment for the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b, it is desirable to keep the color measurement position in each projection range 11a, 11b unchanged during color measurement in order to obtain accurate color measurement values for each projection device. Furthermore, when measuring multiple adjustment colors, it is desirable to use the same measurement position for each adjustment color.
[0154] In this case, the processor 51 calculates the colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 In acquiring the color measurement values (XYZ) of the second projection device 10b, the processor 51 causes the first projection device 10a to project an image of guide lines 92 that guide the position of a colorimeter 131 that measures the color of the light projected from the first projection device 10a. 白 PJ2 ), an image of guide lines 92 that guide the position of a colorimeter 131 that measures the color of the light projected from the second projection device 10b is projected from the second projection device 10b.
[0155] For example, as shown in Fig. 23 , when measuring the color of a test pattern (e.g., a white pattern) projected from the first projection device 10a onto the projection range 11a of the projection object 6, if the position of the colorimeter 131 held by the user does not stabilize, there is a risk that the colorimetric values will not be measured accurately. Therefore, as shown in Fig. 24 , an image of guide lines 92, including, for example, crosshairs, that guide the colorimetric position is projected onto the projection range 11a along with an image of the test pattern. This allows the user to measure the color by aligning the colorimeter 131 with the guide lines 92, for example.
[0156] However, if color measurement is performed while the guide lines 92 are still displayed, the color components of the guide lines 92 will be included in the color measurement values. Therefore, as shown in Fig. 25, an image in which only the test pattern is displayed and the guide lines 92 are not displayed is projected, and this image and the image in which the guide lines 92 are displayed (the image in Fig. 24) are alternately displayed at predetermined intervals.
[0157] This allows the user to obtain accurate color measurement values by measuring the colors when the guide lines 92 are not displayed. Note that, although the first projection device 10a has been described in this example, the same may be done for the second projection device 10b.
[0158] <Modification of guide lines> Fig. 26 is a diagram showing a modification of the guide lines that guide the color measurement position. As shown in Fig. 26, the modified guide line 93 is a cross-shaped guide line, and the position where the sensor of the colorimeter 131 should be aligned is represented by, for example, a white circle.
[0159] 24 shows a crosshair intersection at the position where the sensor of the colorimeter 131 should be aligned, whereas the guide line 93 of the modified example shows a blank white circle at the position where the sensor of the colorimeter 131 should be aligned. The guide line 93 of the modified example makes it possible to obtain accurate color measurement values without switching between displaying and hiding the guide line 93 when measuring the adjustment color.
[0160] The form of the guide line is not limited to the guide line 93 in which the position where the sensor of the colorimeter 131 should be aligned is a white circle, but may be any position that allows the user to recognize the position where the sensor of the colorimeter 131 should be aligned and that position is a white image.
[0161] <Projection Range of Image During Color Measurement> The projection range of a colorimetric image when performing color adjustment on the projection device 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 27. Fig. 27 is a diagram showing an example of the projection range of an image during color measurement.
[0162] In the color adjustment of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b described above, for example, as shown in FIG. 1, a test pattern (colorimetric image) is projected from the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b toward the projection object 6 over the entire projection ranges 11a and 11b, and the colorimetric values are measured.
[0163] However, if the place where the work is performed is, for example, a small, enclosed space, the light from the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b may reflect off the walls, floor, ceiling, etc., and this reflected light may enter the colorimeter 131, making it impossible to accurately measure the colorimetric values. Furthermore, if the worker approaches the projection surface (screen) of the projection target 6 with the colorimeter 131 to measure the color, the influence of light reflection from the clothes the user is wearing may also occur.
[0164] In this case, when the processor 51 instructs the first projection device 10a to project, for example, a white test pattern, the processor 51 causes the first projection device 10a to project the white test pattern in a part of the projection range 11a of the first projection device 10a. Also, when the processor 51 instructs the second projection device 10b to project, for example, a white test pattern, the processor 51 causes the second projection device 10b to project the white test pattern in a part of the projection range 11b of the second projection device 10b.
[0165] 27, when measuring colorimetric values with the first projection device 10a, a white test pattern is projected onto a partial range 94 of the projection range 11a, and colorimetric measurements are performed by aligning the sensor of the colorimeter 131 with that range. This makes it possible to reduce the effects of light reflections on the walls, floor, ceiling, etc., and enables accurate measurement of colorimetric values.
[0166] In this example, the color adjustment of the first projection device 10a and the second projection device 10b has been described, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the same applies to, for example, color measurement when generating a lookup table for color adjustment.
[0167] <Re-measurement of color after color adjustment> The processor 51 measures the color after the previous color adjustment parameter P pred1 In a state where the above is applied to projection by the first projection device 10a, the first projection device 10a is instructed to project, for example, in white, and the applied colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) to obtain the
[0168] The processor 51 calculates the applied colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) in the Lab color space * a * b *白 Adj2 The value position, the lookup table for white adjustment, and the previous color adjustment parameter P pred1 LUT in Lab color space based on 白 (P Pred1 ) value and the recolor adjustment parameter P to be applied to the projection by the first projection device 10a based on the difference between pred2 Determine.
[0169] The applied colorimetric values (XYZ 白 PJ1 ) is an example of the "fifth colorimetric value" of the present invention. * a * b *白 Adj2 is an example of the "position of the fifth colorimetric value in the specific color space" of the present invention. 白 (P Pred1) is an example of "a position in a specific color space based on the first color adjustment data and the first color adjustment parameter" of the present invention. The difference is a prediction error in the previous color adjustment, and includes a direction and a distance in the color space. The color adjustment parameter P pred1 are the color adjustment parameters determined in the previous color adjustment. pred2 are color adjustment parameters determined by re-adjustment through re-color measurement.
[0170] Specifically, the processor 51 remeasures the projection of the adjusted projection device (Adj) after adjustment, and calculates the L * a * b *白 Adj2 and LUT 白 (P Pred1 The processor 51 calculates the prediction error of the recolor adjustment parameter P pred2 In the calculation of the above, the prediction error is calculated by, for example, the "LUT" of the above equation (1) in step S33 of FIG. 白 (p1, p2, p3)) For example, the prediction error is added to PredErr1 白 Then, P pred2 is calculated by the following equation (4).
[0171] PredErr1 白 =L * a * b *白 Adj2 -LUT 白 (P pred1 ) P pred2 =argmin(p1,p2,p3)(||L * a * b *白 Ref1 -LUT 白 (p1, p2, p3)+PredErr1 白 ||) … (4)
[0172] The previously predicted color adjustment parameters P pred1 After setting the above, the color of the adjusted projection is measured again, and readjustment is performed based on the deviation of the predicted value, thereby improving the accuracy of the color adjustment.
[0173] <Variation 1> In Figures 4 and 5, the configuration of the projection device 10 is described as one in which the optical axis K is not bent, but a configuration in which a reflective member is provided in the optical unit 106 and the optical axis K is bent one or more times may also be used.
[0174] Fig. 28 is a schematic diagram showing another external configuration of the projection device 10. Fig. 29 is a schematic cross-sectional view of the optical unit 106 of the projection device 10 shown in Fig. 28. In Figs. 28 and 29, parts that are the same as those shown in Figs. 4 and 5 are given the same reference numerals and descriptions thereof will be omitted.
[0175] 28, the optical unit 106 includes a first member 102 supported by a main body 101, and a second member 103 supported by the first member 102. The first member 102 and the second member 103 may be integrated into one member.
[0176] As shown in Figure 29, the optical unit 106 includes, in addition to the first member 102, a second member 103 having a hollow portion 3A connected to the hollow portion 2A of the first member 102, a first optical system 121 and a reflecting member 122 arranged in the hollow portion 2A, a second optical system 31, a reflecting member 32, a third optical system 33, and a lens 34 arranged in the hollow portion 3A, a first shift mechanism 105, and a projection direction change mechanism 104.
[0177] 28 and 29 , the openings 2a and 2b of the first member 102 are formed on planes perpendicular to each other. The projection optical system 23 shown in FIGS. 28 and 29 is composed of a reflecting member 122, the second optical system 31, the reflecting member 32, and the third optical system 33, in addition to the first optical system 121 and the lens 34 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 . With this projection optical system 23, the optical axis K is folded back by bending twice, as shown in FIG. 29 . The first optical system 121, the reflecting member 122, the second optical system 31, the reflecting member 32, the third optical system 33, and the lens 34 are arranged along the optical axis K in this order from the light modulation unit 22 side.
[0178] The first optical system 121 guides light that is incident on the first member 102 from the main body 101 and travels in direction X1 to the reflecting member 122. The reflecting member 122 reflects the light that is incident from the first optical system 121 in direction Y1. The reflecting member 122 is formed, for example, with a mirror. The first member 102 has an opening 2b formed on the optical path of the light reflected by the reflecting member 122, and this reflected light passes through the opening 2b and travels to the hollow portion 3A of the second member 103.
[0179] The second member 103 is a member having a substantially L-shaped cross-sectional outer shape, and has an opening 3a formed in a position facing the opening 2b of the first member 102. Light from the main body 101 that passes through the opening 2b of the first member 102 passes through this opening 3a and enters the hollow portion 3A of the second member 103. The cross-sectional outer shapes of the first member 102 and the second member 103 are arbitrary and are not limited to those described above.
[0180] The second optical system 31 includes at least one lens and guides light incident from the first member 102 to the reflecting member 32. The reflecting member 32 reflects the light incident from the second optical system 31 in direction X2 and guides it to the third optical system 33. The reflecting member 32 is formed of, for example, a mirror. The third optical system 33 includes at least one lens and guides the light reflected by the reflecting member 32 to the lens 34.
[0181] The lens 34 is disposed at the end of the second member 103 on the direction X2 side so as to cover the opening 3c formed at this end. The lens 34 projects the light incident from the third optical system 33 onto the projection object 6.
[0182] Fig. 29 shows a state in which the first member 102 has been moved to the maximum extent in the direction Y1 by the first shift mechanism 105. When the first member 102 is moved in the direction Y2 by the first shift mechanism 105 from the state shown in Fig. 29, the relative position between the center of the image formed by the light modulation unit 22 and the optical axis K changes, and the image G1 projected onto the projection object 6 can be shifted in the direction Y1.
[0183] The projection direction change mechanism 104 is a rotation mechanism that rotatably connects the second member 103 to the first member 102. This projection direction change mechanism 104 allows the second member 103 to rotate freely around a rotation axis (specifically, optical axis K) that extends in direction Y. Note that the projection direction change mechanism 104 is not limited to the arrangement position shown in Fig. 29 as long as it can rotate the optical system. Furthermore, the number of rotation mechanisms is not limited to one, and multiple mechanisms may be provided.
