Description

Stereotactic surgery system

[0001] The present invention relates to a stereotactic surgery system, and more particularly, to a stereotactic surgery system that facilitates position adjustment of an electrode reaching a surgical site of a patient.

[0002] Stereotactic brain surgery is a common surgical procedure for treating movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Using electrically conductive electrodes, it inserts electrodes into specific areas of the brain and delivers electrical stimulation to alleviate or even cure symptoms.

[0003] This type of stereotactic brain surgery requires a robot or device that can support the brain surgical electrode during the surgical procedure while precisely approaching and inserting it into the surgical site of the patient's brain. Currently, a stereotactic frame (10, Leksell frame) and a stereotactic surgical system assembled thereto and equipped with a sliding guide serve to guide the precise position and direction of insertion of the electrode (500).

[0004] Figure 1 is a drawing for explaining a conventional stereotactic surgical system.

[0005] Referring to FIG. 1, a conventional stereotactic surgical system includes an arc frame (2) that guides an electrode (1) along a circumferential direction, first and second arc supports (3-1, 3-2) that are connected between the arc frame (2) and the stereotactic frame (10) to horizontally move the arc frame (2), and an end of the electrode (1) is positioned to reach an imaginary central axis parallel to the X-axis that crosses the center of a support ring (3b) at the top of a vertical frame (3a) of the first and second arc supports (3-1, 3-2).

[0006] In this conventional stereotactic surgical system, the Y-axis movement of the arc frame (2) is guided through the first and second arc supports (3-1, 3-2), and the rotation of the arc frame (2) about the X-axis is guided, so that the position of the electrode (1) is adjusted so that the electrode (1) faces the surgical site of the patient.

[0007] This conventional stereotactic surgical system is used by being mounted on a stereotactic frame (10), and as shown in FIG. 1, the first and second arc supports (3-1, 3-2) are positioned so that the support ring (3b) connected to the arc frame (2) is eccentrically positioned to one side of the vertical frame (3a) of the first and second arc supports (3-1, 3-2).

[0008] Therefore, when the support ring (3b) is mounted on the stereotactic frame (10) so that the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) faces the direction of the patient's face, and the arrival point of the end of the electrode (1) is set to the location of the patient's tumor according to the location of the patient's tumor, if the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) is not assembled so that the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) faces the direction of the patient's face according to the AP (anterior-posterior) position in which the patient is lying down looking at the ceiling and the opposite PA (posterior-anterior) position, that is, if the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) is assembled so that the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) faces the opposite direction of the patient's face, the arrival point of the end of the electrode (1) will be different, so it is preferable to assemble the support ring (3b) so that the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) faces the direction of the patient's face at all times. However, in the case of an inexperienced user, there is a concern that the eccentric direction of the support ring (3b) may be assembled opposite to the direction of the patient's face, and this may cause the electrode (1) to deviate from the tumor location during stereotactic surgery, which may result in serious problems such as surgical failure or complications during the stereotactic surgery.

[0009] Therefore, the problem that the present invention seeks to solve is to provide a stereotactic surgery system that enables even an unskilled user to easily adjust the position of an electrode to reach the surgical site of a patient without distinction of front or back according to the patient's AP position and PA position during stereotactic brain surgery.

[0010] A stereotactic surgical system according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: first and second Y-axis moving slides slidably coupled to Y-axis frames on the left and right sides of a stereotactic frame, respectively; first and second arc supports assembled to the first and second Y-axis moving slides, respectively, so as to be able to ascend and descend along a Z-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis; first and second arc horizontal moving guides assembled to upper portions of the first and second arc supports, respectively, so as to be able to rotate around an X-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis; an arc frame assembled to the first and second arc horizontal moving guides so as to be able to horizontally move; and a needle-shaped electrode provided on the arc frame so as to be able to move along a circumference of the arc frame, wherein the first and second arc supports comprise: a vertical frame assembled to the first and second Y-axis moving slides so as to be able to ascend and descend along the Z-axis; And it includes a support ring connected to the upper end of the vertical frame and connected to the first and second arc horizontal movement guides, and the support ring is characterized in that it is connected to the upper end of the vertical frame so that the center of the circle of the support ring is located on an imaginary central axis parallel to the Z-axis in the middle of the width of the vertical frame.

[0011] In one embodiment, the end of the electrode facing the stereotactic frame may be positioned on an imaginary X-axis parallel centerline passing through the center of the support ring of each of the first and second arc supports.

[0012] According to the stereotactic surgery system according to the present invention, there is an advantage in that even an unskilled user can easily adjust the position of the electrode to reach the surgical site of the patient by horizontal movement without distinction of front and back according to the AP position and PA position of the patient during stereotactic brain surgery.

[0014] FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a stereotactic surgical system according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0015] FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating the first and second arc supports illustrated in FIG. 2.

[0020] FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a stereotactic surgical system according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a drawing illustrating the first and second arc supports illustrated in FIG. 2.

[0021] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a stereotactic surgical system according to one embodiment of the present invention may include first and second Y-axis movement slides (101, 102), first and second arc supports (201, 202), first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302), an arc frame (400), and an electrode (500).

[0022] The first and second Y-axis movement slides (101, 102) can be slidably coupled to the left and right Y-axis frames (11) parallel to the Y-axis of the positioning frame (10) illustrated in Fig. 1. For example, they can be coupled to the Y-axis frame (11) in the form of a dovetail projection and a dovetail groove.

[0023] The first and second arc supports (201, 202) can be assembled to the first and second Y-axis moving slides (101, 102) respectively so as to be able to move up and down along the Z-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis.

[0024] The first and second arc supports (201, 202) may include a vertical frame (20a) and a support ring (20b).

[0025] The vertical frame (20a) can be assembled to the first and second Y-axis moving slides (101, 102) so as to be able to move up and down along the Z-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis. For example, the vertical frame (20a) can be coupled to the first and second Y-axis moving slides (101, 102) with a structure of a dovetail projection and a dovetail groove.

[0026] The support ring (20b) is connected to the upper end of the vertical frame (20a) and can be connected to the first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302). The support ring (20b) is provided in the shape of a circular ring, and when connected to the upper end of the vertical frame (20a), the center of the circle of the support ring (20b) is located on an imaginary central axis (C2) parallel to the Z-axis in the middle of the width of the vertical frame (20a), as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and is connected to the upper end of the vertical frame (20a). That is, the support ring (20b) is located at the upper end of the vertical frame (20a) without being eccentric to one side.

[0027] The first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302) can be assembled to the upper ends of the first and second arc supports (201, 202) so as to be rotatable about the X-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis. For example, the first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302) can include a support connection portion (30a) having an assembly ring (a2) at one end of the linear frame (a1), and a guide frame portion (30b) that is bent from the other end of the linear frame (a1) and extends parallel to the X-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis.

[0028] The arc frame (400) can be horizontally movably assembled to the first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302). For example, the arc frame (400) can be assembled to the first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302) through a movable member (401) that is horizontally movably assembled to the guide frame portion (30b) of each of the first and second arc horizontal movement guides (301, 302).

[0029] The electrode (500) may be provided on the arc frame (400) so as to be movable along the circumference of the arc frame (400) and may be provided in the form of a needle. For example, the electrode (500) may be placed on the arc frame (400) via an electrode moving carrier (600) that is slidably assembled on the arc frame (400). At this time, the end of the electrode (500) may be placed on an imaginary X-axis parallel center line (C1) passing through the center of the support ring (20b) of each of the first and second arc supports (201, 202).

[0030] In the stereotactic surgical system of the present invention, the support rings (20b) of each of the first and second arc supports (201, 202) are connected to the upper end of the vertical frame (20a) so that the center of the circle of the support rings (20b) is positioned on an imaginary central axis (C2) parallel to the Z-axis in the middle of the width of the vertical frame (20a), so that the support rings (20b) of each of the first and second arc supports (201, 202) are positioned so as not to be eccentric to one side from the upper end of the vertical frame (20a), and the ends of the electrodes (500) are positioned on an imaginary X-axis parallel central line (C1) passing through the centers of the support rings (20b) of each of the first and second arc supports (201, 202). Accordingly, since the support ring (20b) is not eccentric when the first and second arc supports (201, 202) move horizontally along the Y-axis, the arrival point of the end of the electrode (500) becomes the same whether the first and second arc supports (201, 202) move to the left or right.

[0031] The stereotactic surgical system of the present invention does not need to be reassembled according to the patient's position and surgical location for stereotactic brain surgery after being mounted on the stereotactic frame (10) worn on the patient's head.

[0032] That is, unlike the conventional stereotactic surgical system described in the background art, there is no need to reassemble the eccentric support rings (20b) of the first and second arc supports (201, 202) so that they face the patient's face according to the patient's AP position and PA position.

[0033] Therefore, the stereotactic surgical system of the present invention has the advantage that even an unskilled user can easily adjust the position of the electrode (500) to reach the surgical site of the patient by horizontal movement without distinction of front and back according to the AP position and PA position of the patient during stereotactic brain surgery.

[0034] The description of the disclosed embodiments is provided to enable any person skilled in the art to make or use the present invention. Various modifications to these embodiments will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein may be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the present invention is not intended to be limited to the embodiments disclosed herein, but is to be construed in the broadest scope consistent with the principles and novel features disclosed herein.
