Description

Salicylic acid solubilizing composition

[0001] The present application relates to a salicylic acid solubilizing composition.

[0002] Keratinocytes, which are produced in the basal layer of the skin, migrate through the spinous layer, granular layer, and stratum corneum in that order as new keratinocytes are produced. Keratinocytes have a lifespan of approximately two weeks, and dead keratinocytes remain in the stratum corneum for approximately two weeks before being shed from the skin. Accordingly, the skin regeneration cycle is known to be approximately 28 days.

[0003] However, the skin regeneration cycle can be lengthened or shortened for various reasons, including UV exposure, stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, and nutritional imbalances. Specifically, when the skin regeneration cycle is prolonged, the stratum corneum thickens, causing rough skin, reduced absorption and spreadability of cosmetics, and dead skin cells can clog pores, leading to acne.

[0004] Meanwhile, salicylic acid removes dead skin cells and impurities from the skin surface and pores, and its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties improve acne and soothe the skin. Therefore, it is used as a key ingredient in exfoliants. However, salicylic acid is a typical poorly soluble ingredient due to its fat solubility, and research is ongoing into surfactants and solubilizers to stabilize it.

[0005] In particular, when the content of salicylic acid is insufficient, there is a problem that the effects of improving keratin and acne are low. Accordingly, an effective solubilizer that can solubilize sufficient content of salicylic acid is needed.

[0006] The purpose of this application is to provide a salicylic acid solubilizing composition for solving the above problems.

[0007] The technical problems of the present application are not limited to the technical problems mentioned above, and other technical problems not mentioned will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art from the description below.

[0008] According to an embodiment of the present application, a salicylic acid solubilizing composition is provided. The salicylic acid solubilizing composition comprises salicylic acid, a solubilizing agent, and a polyol, wherein the solubilizing agent comprises octyldodeceth-16 and C12-14pareth-12, and the polyol may be included in an amount of 20 to 90 wt% based on the total weight of the composition.

[0009] Additionally, the salicylic acid may be included in an amount of 1 to 6 wt% based on the total weight of the composition.

[0010] Additionally, the C12-14pareth-12 may be included in a weight ratio of 0.1 to 10 based on the weight of octyldodeceth-16.

[0011] Additionally, the octyldodeceth-16 may be included in an amount of more than 0.5 wt% and less than 1.5 wt% based on the total weight of the composition.

[0012] Additionally, the C12-14pareth-12 may be included in an amount of 0.01 to 10 wt% based on the total weight of the composition.

[0013] In addition, the polyol may include at least one selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, methylpropanediol, butylene glycol, pentylene glycol, isopentyldiol, hexylene glycol, caprylyl glycol, glycerin, and diglycerin.

[0014] Additionally, the solubilizer and the polyol may be included in a weight ratio of 1 to 10:20 to 90.

[0015] Additionally, the octyldodeceth-16, the C12-14pareth-12, and the polyol may be included in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 10:20 to 90.

[0016] Additionally, according to an embodiment of the present application, a cosmetic composition may be provided. The cosmetic composition may include a salicylic acid solubilizing composition according to an embodiment of the present application.

[0017] Additionally, the cosmetic composition may be used for exfoliation.

[0018] According to an embodiment of the present application, a formulation including salicylic acid, a poorly soluble component, can be stably maintained by controlling the weight ratio of the solubilizer and polyol.

[0019] In addition, according to the embodiment of the present application, the effect of improving keratin can be maximized by stabilizing salicylic acid.

[0020] To facilitate a more thorough understanding of the drawings cited in the detailed description of this application, a brief description of each drawing is provided.

[0021] Figures 1 to 4 are photographs showing the appearance of a salicylic acid solubilizing composition.

[0023] Among the properties mentioned in this specification, if the measurement temperature affects the properties, the properties are properties measured at room temperature and pressure unless otherwise specified.

[0024] The term room temperature used in this specification refers to the natural temperature that is not heated or cooled, and may mean, for example, any temperature within the range of 10°C to 30°C, for example, a temperature that is about 15°C or higher, about 18°C or higher, about 20°C or higher, about 23°C or higher, about 27°C or lower, or 25°C. Unless specifically defined herein, the unit of temperature is Celsius (°C).

[0025] The terms a to b used in this specification mean a and b inclusive and within the range between a and b.

[0026] The terminology used in this specification is for the purpose of describing embodiments and is not intended to limit and / or restrict the present application. The singular expression includes the plural expression unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. In this specification, it should be understood that the terms "comprises" or "has" are intended to indicate the presence of a feature, number, step, operation, component, part, or combination thereof described in the specification, but do not preclude the possibility of the presence or addition of one or more other features, numbers, steps, operations, components, parts, or combinations thereof.

[0027]

[0028] In this specification, “solubilization” refers to a phenomenon in which the solubility of salicylic acid, a poorly soluble component, increases and it remains in a thermodynamically stable state.

[0029] In this specification, “solubilizing agent” refers to an ingredient that increases the solubility of salicylic acid, a poorly soluble ingredient.

[0030]

[0031] According to an embodiment of the present application, a salicylic acid solubilizing composition is provided. The salicylic acid solubilizing composition may include salicylic acid, a solubilizing agent, and a polyol.

[0032] Salicylic acid is a fat-soluble beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) ingredient that helps improve skin keratin and acne. However, salicylic acid is an acidic ingredient, and excessive amounts can cause skin tissue destruction due to strong irritation.

[0033] Salicylic acid may be present in an amount of at least 1 wt%, at least 1.5 wt%, or at least 2 wt%, or at most 6 wt%, at most 5 wt%, at most 4 wt%, at most 3 wt%, at most 2.5 wt%, or at most 2 wt%, based on the total weight of the composition. For example, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition may comprise 1 to 6 wt%, or 2 to 6 wt%, of salicylic acid.

[0034] When the salicylic acid solubilizing composition includes salicylic acid within the aforementioned range, salicylic acid can be stably solubilized within the solubilizing composition, and not only can the cosmetic composition including the salicylic acid solubilizing composition sufficiently exhibit effects such as improvement of keratin and improvement of acne, but also has the advantage of low risk of skin irritation.

[0035] The solubilizer is used to stabilize or solubilize salicylic acid, which is a poorly soluble component, and may include Octyldodeceth-16 and C12-14Pareth-12. The salicylic acid solubilizing composition may require sufficient solubilizer and polyol, for example, since it contains 1 to 6 wt% of salicylic acid. If the content of the solubilizer and polyol is insufficient, it may be difficult to stabilize or solubilize a high content of salicylic acid, and since salicylic acid is not stabilized in the composition, there may be concerns about skin irritation.

[0036] In embodiments, octyldodeceth-16 can be present in an amount greater than 0.5 wt%, greater than 0.6 wt%, greater than 0.7 wt%, greater than 0.8 wt%, greater than 0.9 wt%, or greater than 1 wt%, or less than 1.5 wt%, less than 1.4 wt%, less than 1.3 wt%, less than 1.2 wt%, less than 1.1 wt%, or less than 1 wt%, based on the total weight of the composition. For example, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition can comprise octyldodeceth-16 in an amount greater than 0.5 wt% and less than 1.5 wt%, from 0.6 to 1.4 wt%, or from 0.8 to 1.2 wt%.

[0037] In embodiments, C12-14pareth-12 may be present in an amount of at least 0.01 wt%, at least 0.05 wt%, at least 0.1 wt%, at least 0.5 wt%, at least 1 wt%, at least 2 wt%, at least 3 wt%, or at least 4 wt%, or at most 10 wt%, at most 9 wt%, at most 8 wt%, at most 7 wt%, at most 6 wt%, at most 5 wt%, at most 4 wt%, at most 3 wt%, or at most 2 wt%, based on the total weight of the composition. For example, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition may comprise C12-14pareth-12 in an amount of 0.01 to 10 wt%, or 0.1 to 4 wt%.

[0038] In an embodiment, C12-14pareth-12 can be present in an amount of 0.1 wt% or more, 0.5 wt% or more, 1 wt% or more, 2 wt% or more, 3 wt% or more, or 4 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, 9 wt% or less, 8 wt% or less, 7 wt% or less, 6 wt% or less, 5 wt% or less, 4 wt% or less, 3 wt% or less, or 2 wt% or less, relative to the weight of octyldodeceth-16. For example, the solubilizer can comprise C12-14pareth-12 in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt%, 0.1 to 8 wt%, or 0.1 to 4 wt% relative to the weight of octyldodeceth-16.

[0039] Polyol refers to an aliphatic compound having two or more hydroxyl groups (-OH). In an embodiment, the polyol may include at least one selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, methylpropanediol, butylene glycol, pentylene glycol, isopentyldiol, hexylene glycol, caprylyl glycol, glycerin, and diglycerin.

[0040] In embodiments, the polyol may be present in an amount of at least 20 wt%, at least 25 wt%, at least 30 wt%, or at least 35 wt%, or at most 90 wt%, at most 80 wt%, at most 70 wt%, at most 60 wt%, at most 50 wt%, at most 45 wt%, at most 40 wt%, at most 35 wt%, or at most 30 wt%, based on the total weight of the composition. For example, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition may comprise 20 to 90 wt%, 20 to 60 wt%, or 20 to 35 wt% of the polyol.

[0041] In embodiments, the polyol may be present in an amount of at least 20 parts by weight, at least 25 parts by weight, at least 30 parts by weight, or at least 35 parts by weight, or at most 90 parts by weight, at most 80 parts by weight, at most 70 parts by weight, at most 60 parts by weight, at most 50 parts by weight, at most 45 parts by weight, at most 40 parts by weight, at most 35 parts by weight, or at most 30 parts by weight relative to 1 to 10 parts by weight of the solubilizer. For example, the polyol may be present in an amount of from 20 to 90 parts by weight, from 20 to 60 parts by weight, from 20 to 45 parts by weight, or from 20 to 35 parts by weight relative to 1 to 10 parts by weight of the solubilizer.

[0042] In an embodiment, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition may comprise octyldodeceth-16, C12-14pareth-12, and a polyol in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 10:20 to 90, respectively. Specifically, the salicylic acid solubilizing composition may comprise octyldodeceth-16, C12-14pareth-12, and a polyol in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 10:20 to 60, a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 10:20 to 45, or a weight ratio of 1:0.1 to 10:20 to 35.

[0043] Meanwhile, a capryloyl salicylic acid solubilizing composition was prepared using the same solubilizing agent and polyol as in the examples of the present application, but when capryloyl salicylic acid was included, the composition became cloudy and a layer separation phenomenon occurred, resulting in an unstable formulation, and the keratin improvement effect was also lower than that of salicylic acid. In other words, the solubilizing agent and polyol according to the examples of the present application were suitable for solubilizing salicylic acid, but were not suitable for solubilizing capryloyl salicylic acid.

[0044]

[0045] According to an embodiment of the present application, a cosmetic composition comprising a salicylic acid solubilizing composition is provided. The cosmetic composition can be manufactured into various products. For example, it can be manufactured into functional cosmetics such as nourishing creams, essences, and ampoules, or basic cosmetics such as toners and lotions. In addition, it can be manufactured into soaps, detergents, cleansing creams, and cleansing waters, or color cosmetics such as lipsticks, lip balms, mascara, blushers, shading, highlighters, makeup bases, foundations, pacts, concealers, and skin covers. It can also be manufactured into hair cleansing products such as shampoos, rinses, hair conditioners, and hair gels. Furthermore, it can be manufactured into products that adhere to the skin, such as packs, hydrogel slimming patches, or products that are sprayed onto the skin, such as mists and aerosols.

[0046] In an embodiment, the cosmetic composition may further include additives commonly used in the art, as long as they do not impair the effects of the present application. For example, the cosmetic composition may further include thickeners, pH adjusters, surfactants, stabilizers, preservatives, antiseptics, bactericides, moisturizers, sunscreens, skin conditioning agents, whitening agents, colorants, organic pigments, inorganic pigments, fragrances, vitamins, natural pigments, pearls, and other functional ingredients. Here, the functional ingredients may include, for example, wrinkle-improving ingredients, whitening ingredients, antioxidant ingredients, anti-aging ingredients, plumping ingredients, exfoliating ingredients, scrubbing ingredients, moisturizing ingredients, skin barrier strengthening ingredients, skin elasticity strengthening ingredients, and the like. Those skilled in the art can easily select the blending amounts of the above ingredients, as long as they do not impair the purpose and effects of the present application.

[0047] In an embodiment, the cosmetic composition may be for exfoliation. Such an exfoliation cosmetic composition may include, in addition to the aforementioned ingredients, commonly used ingredients, such as moisturizers, preservatives, thickeners, surfactants, fragrances, etc., and these ingredients can be easily selected by those skilled in the art within a range that does not impair the purpose and effect of the present application.

[0048]

[0049] Hereinafter, the present application will be described in more detail through manufacturing examples and experimental examples. However, these manufacturing examples or experimental examples are intended to illustrate some experimental methods and compositions for illustrative purposes, and the scope of the present application is not limited to these manufacturing examples or experimental examples.
