Abstract
Description
Adhesive and base material separation device
[0001] The present invention relates to an apparatus for separating adhesive and substrate.
[0002] Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes are used in large quantities for attaching labels and the like to articles and packaging materials, for packing packaging materials, for use in the manufacturing processes of electronic and optical components, for masking purposes, etc. In particular, in recent years, the use of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes in the manufacturing processes of electronic and optical components has been increasing, resulting in the generation of large amounts of waste pressure-sensitive adhesive tape at manufacturing sites and the like.
[0003] Although waste adhesive tapes are usually disposed of by being incinerated or by being taken to a waste disposal site, such disposal methods are not desirable from the viewpoints of reducing the environmental load and recycling resources.
[0004] Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the above-mentioned disposal of adhesive tape waste as much as possible and reuse resources. Recycling of adhesive tape materials is considered as a means to reduce the amount of waste disposal of adhesive tape. If recycling technology for adhesive tape materials can be established, it will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions associated with fossil resource mining, and is expected to have a significant effect on solving the problem of climate change.
[0005] Typical materials for adhesive tapes include an adhesive and a substrate. Typically, adhesive tapes are obtained by dissolving a polymer (sometimes referred to as a base polymer) and additives such as a crosslinking agent in a solvent to form an adhesive composition, applying the adhesive composition to a substrate, and optionally heating and drying the composition to promote a crosslinking reaction, thereby forming an adhesive on the substrate (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

[0010] Fig. 1 is a schematic explanatory diagram of an adhesive and substrate separation device according to one embodiment of the present invention, as seen from a first side; Fig. 2 is a schematic plan view of an adhesive and substrate separation device according to one embodiment of the present invention, as seen from above; Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A in Fig. 1, showing an adhesive and substrate separation device according to one embodiment of the present invention, as seen from a third side; Fig. 4 is a schematic side view of an adhesive and substrate separation device according to one embodiment of the present invention, as seen from a first side;
[0011] Representative embodiments of the present invention will be described below. The embodiments described below are representative examples of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described below.
[0012] The apparatus for separating a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate according to an embodiment of the present invention is an apparatus for separating a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate from a mixture (A) containing the pressure-sensitive adhesive and the substrate.
[0013] <<Mixture (A)>> The mixture (A) to be separated using the pressure-sensitive adhesive and substrate separation device according to an embodiment of the present invention will now be described. The mixture (A) need only contain a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate, and may be a mixture of a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate, or a mixture of a pressure-sensitive adhesive, a substrate, and any other appropriate component. Examples of such other components include organic solvents. The composition and content ratio of the mixture (A) may be any appropriate composition and content ratio within a range that does not impair the effects of the present invention.
[0014] As the adhesive, any appropriate adhesive may be used as long as it does not impair the effects of the present invention. Only one type of adhesive may be used, or two or more types may be used. Examples of such adhesives include acrylic adhesives, silicone adhesives, urethane adhesives, and rubber adhesives, and a representative example is an acrylic adhesive.
[0015] As the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, any appropriate acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive may be employed as long as it does not impair the effects of the present invention. Representative examples of such acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives include waste acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (sometimes referred to as "waste acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives"). Examples of waste acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives include acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives contained in acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes collected after use, mixtures containing acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives obtained by subjecting acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes collected after use to any appropriate treatment, acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives that remain on adherends when the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is peeled from the adherend to which the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has been attached, and acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives attached to acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive manufacturing equipment.
[0016] As the substrate, any appropriate substrate can be adopted as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired. The substrate may be one type or two or more types. A representative example of such a substrate is a substrate contained in a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.
[0017] Any appropriate substrate can be used as the substrate as long as it does not impair the effects of the present invention. Representative examples of such substrates include substrates that are waste (sometimes referred to as "waste substrates"). Examples of waste substrates include substrates contained in adhesive tapes collected after use, and mixtures containing substrates obtained by subjecting adhesive tapes collected after use to any appropriate treatment.
[0018] Any appropriate material can be used as the substrate material as long as it does not impair the effects of the present invention. A typical example of such a substrate material is a resin material.
[0019] Examples of resin materials that can be used as the substrate include acrylic resins such as polyimide (PI), polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate, triacetyl cellulose (TAC), polysulfone, polyarylate, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), ethylene-propylene copolymer, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polyamide (nylon), wholly aromatic polyamide (aramid), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinyl acetate, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), fluorine-based resins, and cyclic olefin polymers.
[0020] The mixture (A) may be obtained by any means. One embodiment of such a mixture (A) is a mixture obtained by impregnating a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape containing a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate with a pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid containing an organic solvent. The phrase "impregnated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid" used here refers to impregnating the pressure-sensitive adhesive contained in the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape with the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid, for example, by immersing at least a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive in the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid. This is because the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid penetrates into the pressure-sensitive adhesive when at least a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive is immersed in the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid. Therefore, the entire pressure-sensitive adhesive tape may be immersed in the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid, or at least a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and at least a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive may be immersed in the pressure-sensitive adhesive treatment liquid.
[0021] In a typical embodiment of the mixture (A), the PSA is impregnated with an organic solvent (hereinafter referred to as an "organic solvent-impregnated PSA"). Accordingly, one typical embodiment of the mixture (A) is an organic solvent-impregnated PSA comprising a PSA, a substrate, and an organic solvent, and in which the PSA is impregnated with at least a portion of the organic solvent. The amount of organic solvent impregnated in the organic solvent-impregnated PSA can vary depending on factors such as the type and amount of the PSA, the type and amount of the organic solvent, the composition of the PSA treatment liquid, and the conditions for impregnation with the PSA treatment liquid.
[0022] <<Sorting Apparatus>> An apparatus for separating a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a substrate according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 1 to 4. However, the sorting apparatus of the present invention is not limited to the description based on Figures 1 to 4.
[0023] Fig. 1 is a schematic explanatory diagram of an apparatus 1000 for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention, as viewed from the first side surface 101 of the stirring tank 100. Fig. 2 is a schematic plan view of the apparatus 1000 for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention, as viewed from above. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A in Fig. 1, and is a schematic cross-sectional view of the apparatus 1000 for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention, as viewed from the third side surface 103 of the stirring tank 100. Fig. 4 is a schematic side view of the apparatus 1000 for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention, as viewed from the first side surface 101 of the stirring tank 100.
[0024] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 , an adhesive and substrate separation apparatus 1000 according to one embodiment of the present invention includes an agitation tank 100, an agitation means 200 for agitating a mixture (A) 2000 in the agitation tank 100, a first liquid supply unit 300 for supplying a first liquid 350 into the agitation tank 100, an adhesive discharge unit 400 for discharging the adhesive 10 together with the liquid from an upper portion of a first side surface 101 of the agitation tank 100, an adhesive recovery unit 500 for recovering the adhesive 10 discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, and a substrate recovery unit 600 for recovering the substrate 20 from within the agitation tank 100.
[0025] In an apparatus 1000 for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention, the mixture (A) 2000 is stirred by the stirring means 200 in the stirring tank 100, thereby sufficiently loosening the mixture (A) 2000 and separating the adhesive 10 from the substrate 20, and then the first liquid 350 is supplied from the first liquid supply unit 300 into the stirring tank 100, causing the adhesive 10 floating to the top in the stirring tank 100 to overflow together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400, thereby recovering the adhesive 10. Furthermore, the substrate 20 separated in the stirring tank 100 sinks to the bottom of the stirring tank 100 without being discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, and is recovered by the substrate recovery unit 600. Thus, in the apparatus 1000 for separating adhesive 10 and substrate 20 according to one embodiment of the present invention, by providing an area X in which the mixture (A) 2000 is sufficiently loosened to separate the adhesive 10 from the substrate 20, an adhesive recovery area Y in which the adhesive 10 is recovered by utilizing the overflow of the liquid containing the adhesive 10, and a substrate recovery area Z in which the last remaining substrate 20 is recovered, it is possible to easily separate the adhesive 10 and the substrate 20 from the mixture (A) containing the adhesive 10 and the substrate 20. As shown in Figures 1 to 3, a partition plate 110 may be provided in the mixing tank 100 to prevent the separated adhesive 10 and substrate 20 from mixing with each other.
[0026] In order to further realize the effects of the present invention, it is preferable that in the adhesive recovery area Y, the adhesive 10 floats to the top in the stirring tank 100 and the substrate 20 sinks to the bottom in the stirring tank 100, and typically, it is more preferable that in the adhesive recovery area Y, the specific gravity of the adhesive 10 (which may be an organic solvent-impregnated adhesive) is smaller than that of the liquid in the stirring tank 100 and the specific gravity of the substrate 20 is larger than that of the liquid in the stirring tank 100.
[0027] The stirring tank 100 has a first side surface 101 and a second side surface 102 that face each other in the length direction, a third side surface 103 and a fourth side surface 104 that face each other in the width direction, and a bottom surface 105 .
[0028] The mixture (A) 2000 can be introduced into the stirring tank 100 by any appropriate method. In one embodiment, the mixture (A) 2000 is introduced from above the third side surface 103 of the stirring tank 100, as shown in FIG.
[0029] Any appropriate stirring means can be adopted as the stirring means 200 within the scope that does not impair the effects of the present invention, as long as it can stir the mixture (A) 2000 in the stirring tank 100. Examples of such stirring means 200 include stirring by a liquid flow generated by supplying the second liquid 750 from the second liquid supply unit 700 into the stirring tank 100, stirring by a stirring blade, and stirring by a liquid flow generated by compressed air bubbling.
[0030] 1 to 3, agitation by a liquid flow generated by supplying the second liquid 750 from a second liquid supply unit 700 in the stirring tank 100 is preferred as the stirring means 200, from the viewpoints of sufficient loosening of the mixture (A) 2000, high maintainability such as suppression of adhesion of the mixture (A) 2000, high stirring capacity, and low cost. Here, agitation by a liquid flow generated by supplying the second liquid 750 from the second liquid supply unit 700 in the stirring tank 100 refers to a liquid flow (for example, a clockwise flow as shown in FIG. 3) formed in the stirring tank 100 by supplying the second liquid 750 from the second liquid supply unit 700 provided in the stirring tank 100, and stirring of the mixture (A) 2000 performed by this liquid flow.
[0031] The second liquid supply unit 700 may be disposed on the first side surface 101 side or the second side surface 102 side within the stirring tank 100. In order to further exert the effects of the present invention, the second liquid supply unit 700 is preferably disposed on the first side surface 101 side. Figures 1 to 3 show the case where the second liquid supply unit 700 is disposed on the first side surface 101 side.
[0032] The second liquid supply unit 700 may include a plurality of horizontally oriented second liquid supply ports 701. By including a plurality of horizontally oriented second liquid supply ports 701 in the second liquid supply unit 700, a strong and efficient liquid flow can be generated.
[0033] In order to more effectively demonstrate the effects of the present invention, the second liquid supply section 700 is preferably arranged on the first side surface 101 side of the lower part of the stirring tank 100, with multiple second liquid supply ports 701 facing horizontally and toward the second side surface 102.
[0034] The supply rate of the second liquid 750 from the second liquid supply unit 700 may be determined to be any appropriate rate within a range that does not impair the effects of the present invention, taking into consideration the structure and size of the stirring tank 100 and the structure and size of the second liquid supply unit 700. Such a supply rate is, for example, 1 m / min to 1500 m / min, and preferably 10 m / min to 500 m / min, per second liquid supply port 701.
[0035] The first liquid supply unit 300 supplies the first liquid 350 into the stirring tank 100. In order to further exhibit the effects of the present invention, as shown in Figures 1 to 4, the first liquid supply unit 300 is disposed so as to supply the first liquid 350 into the stirring tank 100 from above the stirring tank 100.
[0036] By supplying the first liquid 350 from the first liquid supply unit 300 into the stirring tank 100, the adhesive 10 can be caused to overflow together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400 and efficiently discharged.
[0037] The first liquid supply unit 300 may be disposed on the first side surface 101 side, or on the second side surface 102 side. In order to more effectively exert the effects of the present invention, the first liquid supply unit 300 is preferably disposed on the second side surface 102 side. Figures 1 to 4 show the case where the first liquid supply unit 300 is disposed on the second side surface 102 side.
[0038] The first liquid supply unit 300 may include a plurality of first liquid supply ports 301. By including a plurality of first liquid supply ports 301 in the first liquid supply unit 300, the adhesive 10 can be caused to overflow together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400 and be discharged more efficiently. The first liquid supply ports 301 may be oriented in any appropriate direction, such as horizontally or vertically, as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
[0039] The supply rate of the first liquid 350 from the first liquid supply unit 300 may be determined to be any appropriate rate within a range that does not impair the effects of the present invention, taking into consideration the structure and size of the stirring tank 100 and the structure and size of the first liquid supply unit 300. Such a supply rate is, for example, 1 m / min to 600 m / min, and preferably 10 m / min to 300 m / min, per first liquid supply port 301.
[0040] The adhesive discharge unit 400 discharges the adhesive 10 together with the liquid from the upper part of the first side surface 101 of the stirring tank 100. As described above, by supplying the first liquid 350 from the first liquid supply unit 300 into the stirring tank 100, the adhesive 10 can be caused to overflow together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400 and efficiently discharged (in the direction of arrow F in FIG. 2 ).
[0041] The adhesive discharge portion 400 is typically a cutout portion provided in the upper portion of the first side surface 101 as shown in FIGS.
[0042] 1 to 4, the adhesive recovery unit 500 is disposed to recover the adhesive 10 that has overflowed and been discharged together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400. The adhesive recovery unit 500 is typically connected to the mixing tank 100 via the adhesive discharge unit 400.
[0043] The adhesive recovery unit 500, which can further exhibit the effects of the present invention, includes a separating member 501 that recovers the adhesive 10 discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, and a recovery tank 502 that collects the liquid discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, with at least a portion of the separating member 501 immersed in the liquid. A typical example of the adhesive recovery unit 500 is one in which a basket-shaped separating member 501 is placed inside the recovery tank 502, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 4. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the adhesive recovery unit 500 is arranged so that the mixture of adhesive 10 and liquid that has overflowed and been discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400 is introduced into the basket-shaped separating member 501. A material capable of solid-liquid separation can be used as such a separating member, and examples thereof include a basket-shaped metal mesh.
[0044] The adhesive recovery unit 500 thus includes a separating member 501 that recovers the adhesive 10 discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, and a recovery tank 502 that stores the liquid discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400, and at least a portion of the separating member 501 is immersed in the liquid, so that the mixture of adhesive 10 and liquid that overflows and is discharged from the adhesive discharge unit 400 is poured into the basket-shaped separating member 501, and the adhesive 10 remains within the basket-shaped separating member 501. Since at least a portion of the separating member 501 is immersed in the liquid in the recovery tank 502, there is an advantage that clogging of the separating member 501 with the adhesive 10 is less likely to occur.
[0045] Finally, the adhesive 10 can be efficiently separated by an operation such as lifting up the cage-shaped separating member 501 to separate the adhesive 10 in the cage-shaped separating member 501 from the liquid in the recovery tank 502.
[0046] The liquid discharged from adhesive discharge unit 400, typically the liquid stored in recovery tank 502, can be reused as at least one selected from the group consisting of first liquid 350 and second liquid 750. By recycling in this manner, it becomes possible to separate adhesive 10 and substrate 20 at low cost. Examples of a method for recycling include a method in which the liquid discharged from adhesive discharge unit 400 is reused by appropriately adjusting the composition or the like depending on the difference in composition between first liquid 350 and second liquid 750.
[0047] The pressure-sensitive adhesive and substrate separation device 1000 according to one embodiment of the present invention may include a control unit that controls the supply amount of the first liquid 350 from the first liquid supply unit 300 and the supply amount of the second liquid 750 from the second liquid supply unit 700. By including such a control unit, the supply amounts of the first liquid 350 and the second liquid 750 can be controlled in an appropriate and coordinated manner, enabling more efficient separation of the pressure-sensitive adhesive 10 and the substrate 20.
[0048] Examples of the first liquid 350 include water, alcohols, hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, halogen compounds, and mixtures thereof. Examples of alcohols include methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol (IPA), 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, benzyl alcohol, diethylene glycol, and dipropylene glycol. Examples of hydrocarbons include benzene, toluene, styrene, hexane, cyclohexane, heptane, and methylcyclohexane. Examples of esters include ethyl acetate. Examples of ketones include acetone. Examples of halogen compounds include chloroform and carbon tetrachloride.
[0049] Examples of the second liquid 750 include water, alcohols, hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, halogen compounds, and mixtures thereof. Examples of alcohols include methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol (IPA), 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, benzyl alcohol, diethylene glycol, and dipropylene glycol. Examples of hydrocarbons include benzene, toluene, styrene, hexane, cyclohexane, heptane, and methylcyclohexane. Examples of esters include ethyl acetate. Examples of ketones include acetone. Examples of halogen compounds include chloroform and carbon tetrachloride.
[0050] The substrate recovery unit 600 recovers the substrate 20 from the stirring tank 100. In the adhesive and substrate separation device 1000 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the mixture (A) 2000 is stirred by the stirring means 200 in the stirring tank 100 to separate the adhesive 10 and the substrate 20, and then the adhesive 10 is recovered by overflowing together with the liquid from the adhesive discharge unit 400 as described above, while the substrate 20 may settle to the bottom of the stirring tank 100. The substrate 20 that has settled to the bottom of the stirring tank 100 is recovered by the substrate recovery unit 600.
[0051] Any appropriate structure or device may be employed for the substrate recovery section 600, provided that it is capable of recovering the substrates 20 collected at the bottom of the stirring tank 100 and does not impair the effects of the present invention. Examples of such substrate recovery sections 600 include belt conveyor-type transport and recovery devices as shown in Figures 1 to 4.
[0052] The present invention will be specifically explained below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples in any way.
[0053] [Manufacturing Example 1]: Preparation of Adhesive and Substrate Mixture (A) Acrylic adhesive tape (manufactured by Nitto Denko Corporation, product name "No. 3195MS," after foaming) was cut into 20 mm x 20 mm pieces to prepare adhesive tape samples. Potassium hydroxide was added to a 1-butanol / water mixture solution (volume ratio: 12.1% / 87.9%) to a concentration of 2.6 wt% to prepare an adhesive treatment solution. The adhesive treatment solution was heated to 70°C, and the adhesive tape sample was added at a 20% (weight ratio) to the adhesive treatment solution. These were placed in a pail (sealed container) and stirred for 30 minutes using a pail stirrer (manufactured by Misugi Co., Ltd., product name "Mazemazeman"). The solid and liquid were then separated using a filter or the like, and mixture (A) was obtained as the solid side. The resulting mixture (A) was a mixture in which the acrylic adhesive and PET substrate were entangled.
[0054] Example 1 Separation of an adhesive and a substrate from a mixture (A) containing an adhesive and a substrate was carried out using a separation device for separating an adhesive and a substrate according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in Figures 1 to 4, the separation device was comprised of a stirring tank (length: 100 cm, width: 65 cm, depth: 45 cm) having a first side and a second side facing each other in the length direction, a third side and a fourth side facing each other in the width direction, and a bottom, the stirring tank having an adhesive discharge section (length: 40 cm, depth: 6 cm) which was a notch provided at the top of the first side and at a position facing the first liquid supply section, and a horizontally extending pipe (length: 40 cm, depth: 6 cm) provided at the bottom of the stirring tank on the side of the first side. The mixing chamber includes a second liquid supply unit having 18 second liquid supply ports (each having a diameter of Φ3) facing in the horizontal direction and in the direction of the second side surface, a first liquid supply unit having one first liquid supply port (having a diameter of Φ20) facing in the horizontal direction and in the direction of the first side surface on the second side surface 102 above the stirring layer, an adhesive recovery unit connected to the stirring tank via an adhesive discharge unit, and a substrate recovery unit that recovers substrates that have settled to the bottom of the stirring tank. The adhesive recovery unit is a collection tank (length: 50 cm, width: 35 cm, depth: 40 cm) as shown in Figures 1 to 4, in which a basket-shaped metal mesh filter (length: 45 cm, width: 25 cm, depth: 40 cm) is placed as a separation member inside the collection tank (length: 50 cm, width: 35 cm, depth: 40 cm). First, a mixed solution of water and 1-butanol (weight ratio: water:1-butanol = 92:8) as the second liquid was filled into the stirring tank up to a position 10 cm below the top of the stirring tank. Then, a mixed solution of water and 1-butanol (weight ratio: water:1-butanol = 92:8) as the second liquid was supplied from the second liquid supply unit at a supply rate of 330 m / min (flow rate: 2.3 L / min), forming a clockwise liquid flow in the stirring tank as shown in FIG. 3 . Furthermore, a mixed solution of water and 1-butanol (weight ratio: water:1-butanol = 92:8) as the first liquid was supplied from the first liquid supply unit at a supply rate of 140 m / min (flow rate: 44 L / min), allowing the liquid to overflow from the adhesive discharge unit. In this state, 50 g of a mixture (A) containing an adhesive and a substrate was added from above the third side of the stirring tank.As a result, the mixture (A) was first loosened by the liquid flow formed by the supply of the second liquid from the second liquid supply unit, and separated into the adhesive and the substrate. Then, in the area where the first liquid was supplied from the first liquid supply unit, the liquid containing the adhesive overflowed from the adhesive discharge unit and was poured into the basket-shaped separating member of the adhesive recovery unit, while the substrate settled to the bottom in the mixing tank. The basket-shaped separating member was then lifted from the recovery tank of the adhesive recovery unit, allowing the adhesive to be separated. Meanwhile, the substrate that had settled to the bottom in the mixing tank was recovered using a simple belt conveyor, allowing the substrate to be separated.
[0055] The adhesive and substrate separating device according to the embodiment of the present invention can be effectively used to recycle the large amount of waste adhesive tape generated at manufacturing sites of electronic components and optical components, for example.
