Abstract
Description
[0001] Gas turbine aircraft engine support used for maintenance
[0002] Technical field
[0003] The invention relates to the field of aeronautical maintenance, in particular the handling or transport of aeronautical components.
[0004] Background to the invention
[0005] The aircraft engine must be transported undamaged from the factory to the aircraft, and the transport bracket must be designed to facilitate efficient and safe assembly on the aircraft. Disassembly for maintenance is equally demanding. To this end, support frames designed to secure the engine for transport must ensure a number of safety and flexibility criteria.
[0006] State of the art of the invention
[0007] Patent US20180311808 discloses a motor assembly bracket which comprises two parallel posts, a horizontal beam which connects the tops of the posts and which is vertically movable, and a suspension frame which can be moved along the movable beam in a lateral direction and which is further adapted to rotate the motor mounted on this bracket around the main axes.
[0008] WO2015168637A1 relates to a novel aircraft engine mount having load transfer pins that transfer axial and lateral loads from the engine to the cradle frame. This reduces vibration and stress on the engine, improving its durability and performance.
[0009] Summary :
[0010] The present invention relates to an aircraft engine support for easily transporting a heavy aircraft engine safely and without damaging the components. The support is composed of two beams that support the engine modules, and support pillars. The maintenance support is useful for safety and performance maintenance operations of gas turbine engines. The two front and rear pillars have adapters that conform to the shape of the gas turbine engine. These adapters have attachment points that can be inserted into suitable housings on the engine body. The present invention also relates to the method of mounting the engine on the support.
[0011] Description of the invention:
[0012] In the preferred embodiment, the stand is equipped with a base that rests on the ground. The base is made of steel and is designed to support the weight of the motor. It is composed of two horizontal parallel bars. Four vertical pillars are embedded to support the weight of the motor.
[0013] The maintenance engine stand is constructed entirely from E 24 square steel tubing. It consists of a rectangular frame measuring 3.37 meters by 1.55 meters, supported by four casters. The two front casters allow full 360-degree rotation for maneuverability, while the two rear casters are fixed. The stand is equipped with four pillars to securely hold the engine in place. These pillars are reinforced by three braces, which help distribute stress evenly across the stand structure when the engine is placed on it.
[0014] At the rear end of the engine stand, there is a push handle for convenience, and the stand can also be pulled from the front, as shown in the attached figures. The basic steel frame of the stand is divided into three compartments using square steel tubes. The first compartment serves as a storage space for the operator's tools or spare parts. The other two compartments are covered with ribbed aluminum sheeting. This serves two purposes: first, to prevent parts that might fall off the engine from being lost, and second, to prevent engine oils from reaching the ground.
[0015] The safest method of supporting the engine is one in which the aircraft holds it, and the handling bracket will use the same attachment points as demonstrated below.
[0016] The product is used during engine removal. Its purpose is to raise the engine to a sufficient height to allow technicians to access all these areas during maintenance work on the engine. The support can also be moved within the hangar.
[0017] The stand is equipped with a work platform that allows technicians to access the engine for maintenance operations. The platform is convenient and ensures the safety of technicians.
[0018] In order to mount the engine on the maintenance support, especially type EMBRAER 145, it is necessary to follow successive steps for a better fixing: fixing the front support adapters (12) with the engine using the attachment points while the engine is held by the crane, lowering the engine to the level of the support, inserting the vice (22) through the part (21) and fixing it with the nut (23), fixing the rear support part (30) with the engine using the rear attachment points (32).
