[0040] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments. Note that the various aspects described below with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments are merely exemplary and should not be construed as limiting the scope of protection of the present invention.

[0041] According to one aspect of the present invention, a frequency conversion circuit is provided for increasing the amplitude of an output signal while performing frequency conversion.

[0042] FIG1 shows a block diagram of a frequency conversion circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG1 , the frequency conversion circuit includes a differential unit 1 , a current shunting unit 2 , a current acquisition unit 3 and a current source I.

[0043] Differential unit 1 is the amplification unit primarily responsible for frequency conversion and includes a symmetrically arranged differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2. The control terminals of the differential pair are used to receive the differential input signals Rfin+ and Rfin-. The current input terminals of the differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2 are short-circuited to form the input of differential unit 1, while the current output terminals of the differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2 are short-circuited to form the output of differential unit 1. The input of differential unit 1 is connected to the power supply, while the output of differential unit 1 is connected to the current source I.

[0044] The differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2 can be bipolar transistors or field-effect transistors. The control terminals of the differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2 refer to the base of the bipolar transistor or the gate of the field-effect transistor. The current inflow terminals refer to the collector of the N-type bipolar transistor, the emitter of the P-type bipolar transistor, the drain of the M-type field-effect transistor, or the source of the P-type field-effect transistor. The current outflow terminals refer to the emitter of the N-type bipolar transistor, the collector of the P-type bipolar transistor, the source of the M-type field-effect transistor, or the drain of the P-type field-effect transistor. Regarding the input and output of the frequency amplifier circuit, the input signal of the frequency amplifier circuit is introduced from the control terminals of the differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2, and the output signal of the frequency amplifier circuit is drawn from the current inflow terminals of the differential pair of transistors Q1 and Q2.

[0045] The shunt unit 2 and the differential unit 1 are both connected to the current source I. Therefore, the output current of the shunt unit 2 and the output current of the differential unit 1 are both controlled by the current source I. When the output current of the differential unit 1 changes with the transformation of its input signal, the current of the current source I remains unchanged. Obviously, the output current of the shunt unit 2 will change inversely with the output current of the differential unit 1, that is, the output current of the shunt unit 2 is negatively correlated with the output current of the differential unit 1.

[0046] The current collection unit 3 is used to collect the current of the shunt unit 2 and output the collected current corresponding to the current of the shunt unit 2 to the input end of the differential unit 1 .

[0047] That is, the shunt unit 2 can generate a certain response according to the change of the input signal of the differential unit. The response is collected by the current acquisition unit 3 and the collected current is output to the current inflow end of the differential unit 1. The output end of the frequency conversion circuit is generally set at the current inflow end of the differential unit 1. Therefore, the shunt unit 2 and the current acquisition unit 3 can be regarded as an input-to-output feedback compensation structure of a frequency conversion circuit.

[0048] It can be understood that the differential unit 1 itself can form an input-to-output response, and the combination of the shunt unit 2 and the current acquisition unit 3 can form an input-to-output feedback compensation structure. It can be seen that the input to output of the frequency conversion circuit has two response branches. Therefore, on the basis of frequency conversion, the superposition of the two response branches can also increase the amplitude.

[0049] The current collected by the current collection unit 3 is proportional to the input current or output current of the shunt unit 2. Preferably, the ratio of the current collected to the input current or output current of the shunt unit 2 is greater than or equal to 1.

[0050] Although FIG1 does not show the specific circuit structure of the shunt unit 2 and the current acquisition unit 3, those skilled in the art may respectively adopt existing or future circuits for realizing the shunt function, the current acquisition function, or a circuit for the feedback compensation function of their combination to realize them according to the individual functions or the combined functions of the shunt unit 2 and the current acquisition unit 3.

[0051] For example, the shunting unit 2 can be implemented by using one or more conventional resistors, variable resistors, or a combination thereof, wherein the variable resistors include manually adjustable resistors (such as slice resistors) or active resistors.

[0052] The current acquisition unit 3 can be implemented by using a common Hall current sensor or other device for current acquisition, or it can be implemented by referring to the transformer principle and utilizing the mechanism that the secondary current changes with the primary current, or it can be implemented by using a circuit structure in which the output is in a certain proportion to the input and the current direction can be changed (such as a current mirror).

[0053] FIG2 shows a schematic diagram of a frequency conversion circuit in a specific embodiment. In which the shunt unit 2 adopts an adjustable resistor R F To achieve this, the current acquisition unit 3 is implemented by using a current mirror.

[0054] As shown in FIG2 , the current acquisition unit 3 includes an input tube PM1 and a mirror tube PM2 , wherein the input tube PM1 is connected in series to an adjustable resistor R F and its power supply end, the output end of the mirror tube PM2 is connected to the current inflow end of the differential unit 1.

[0055] Those skilled in the art will appreciate that a current mirror is a common current source circuit, and its connection method is a necessary condition for it to generate a mirror current. Therefore, it will not be described in detail. Reference may be made to the current mirror 3 shown in FIG2 . The current mirror using the connection method shown in FIG2 uses a P-type MOS transistor or a transistor.

[0056] Fig. 3 shows a schematic circuit diagram of a frequency conversion circuit in another specific embodiment, wherein the current shunting unit 2 is implemented by an active resistor Q3, and the current acquisition unit 3 is implemented by a transformer.

[0057] As shown in FIG3 , the current acquisition unit 3 includes a primary side L1 and a secondary side L2, wherein the primary side L1 is connected in series between the current inflow end of the active resistor Q3 and its power supply end, and the secondary side L2 is connected in series between the current inflow end of the differential unit 1 and the power supply end of the differential unit 1. The current outflow end of the active resistor Q3 is connected to the current source I, and the control end of the active resistor Q3 is a port for controlling the size of its resistance, which can be the gate of a field effect transistor or the base of a transistor. In the frequency conversion circuit shown in FIG3 , the connection point between the secondary side L2 of the transformer 3 and the input end of the differential unit 1 can serve as the output end P of the frequency conversion circuit. out .

[0058] In the frequency conversion circuit shown in Figure 2 or Figure 3, the shunt unit 2 can be composed of a plurality of adjustable resistors. The shunt unit 2 in Figure 2 can adopt a structure in which a plurality of adjustable resistors are connected in parallel, and the shunt unit 2 in Figure 3 can adopt a structure in which a plurality of active resistors are connected in parallel. The current inflow ends of the plurality of active resistors connected in parallel are short-circuited to form the input end of the shunt unit 2, the current outflow ends of the plurality of active resistors connected in parallel are short-circuited to form the output end of the shunt unit 2, and the control ends of the plurality of active resistors connected in parallel are short-circuited to form the control end of the shunt unit 2. The control voltage of the control end can control the parallel resistance value of the plurality of active resistors. In order to reduce losses, preferably, the plurality of resistors connected in parallel can be one or two. Preferably, the control voltage of the control end is equal to the amplitude or equivalent voltage of the differential input signal of the differential unit 1.

[0059] In the frequency conversion circuit shown in FIG2 or FIG3, the current acquisition unit 3 can be set at the input end or input end of the shunt unit 2, that is, the input tube PM1 shown in FIG2 can also be set at the variable resistor R F The primary side L1 shown in FIG3 may also be provided between the current outflow end of the active transistor Q3 and the current source I. As shown in FIG3 , the primary side L1 shown in FIG3 may also be provided between the current outflow end of the active transistor Q3 and the current source I.

[0060] In the embodiment shown in Figure 1 , the current at the input of the differential unit 1 can serve as the output signal of the frequency conversion circuit. As shown in Figure 1 , the connection point between the current acquisition unit 3 and the differential unit 1 can form a current confluence point A, and the current signal at confluence point A can serve as the output signal.

[0061] Those skilled in the art will appreciate that when the output signal of the frequency conversion circuit needs to be a voltage signal, an output unit may be further provided at the confluence point shown in FIG. 1 to convert the current signal into a voltage signal for output.

[0062] Figure 4 shows a schematic diagram of the frequency conversion circuit architecture in one embodiment. In the embodiment shown in Figure 4 , an output unit 4 is further provided at the connection point between the current acquisition unit 3 and the differential unit 1. Output unit 4 can be implemented using a resistor or an active resistor; in some embodiments, output unit 4 can also utilize a current mirror to isolate the output signal. In current mirror embodiments, preferably, the output end of the mirror tube of the current mirror can also utilize a series resistor to convert the mirror current into a mirror voltage.

[0063] In some embodiments, when the output end of the frequency conversion circuit is matched with its load, the output unit 4 may also be a matching circuit that achieves impedance matching with the load circuit.

[0064] Figure 5 shows a schematic diagram of a frequency conversion circuit. The embodiment shown in Figure 5 differs from the embodiment shown in Figure 2 in that output unit 4 comprises resistor R1. A first end of resistor R1 is connected to power supply terminal VDD, and a second end is connected to bus point A. The second end of resistor R1 serves as the output terminal Pout of the frequency conversion circuit.

[0065] FIG6 shows a schematic diagram of a frequency conversion circuit. The difference between the embodiment shown in FIG5 and the embodiment shown in FIG2 is that the adjustable resistor R F Active transistor Q3 is used for implementation, and output unit 4 adopts a matching circuit to achieve output matching of the frequency conversion circuit.

[0066] It can be understood that the matching circuit can be implemented by a circuit that meets the matching requirements of the output load of the frequency conversion circuit. For example, the matching circuit is a circuit that can achieve conjugate matching between the output impedance of the frequency conversion circuit and its output load impedance.

[0067] Taking the matching circuit 4 shown in Figure 6 as an example, the matching circuit may include an inductor L3, a resistor R1, and a capacitor C1. The inductor L3 and the resistor R1 are connected in series between the power supply terminal VDD and the input terminal of the differential unit 1. One end of the capacitor C1 is connected between the power supply terminal VDD and the inductor L3, and the other end of the capacitor C1 is grounded. The output terminal Pout of the frequency conversion circuit can be set at any point between the inductor L3 and the input terminal of the differential unit.

[0068] FIG7 shows a schematic diagram of a frequency conversion circuit. The embodiment shown in FIG7 differs from the embodiment shown in FIG5 in that: the adjustable resistor R F This is achieved using an active transistor Q3; the current collection unit is implemented using an electrical connection line. Specifically, the control terminal of the active transistor Q3 is connected to the confluence point A, and the connection line from the control terminal of the active transistor Q3 to the confluence point A constitutes the current collection unit. In this case, the output terminal Pout of the frequency conversion circuit can be located between the resistor R1 and the confluence point A.

[0069] FIG8 is a circuit diagram of a frequency conversion circuit. The difference between the embodiment shown in FIG8 and the embodiment shown in FIG7 is that the output terminal Pout of the frequency conversion circuit is arranged between the shunt unit 2 and the current source I.

[0070] The output end of the frequency conversion circuit mentioned in the present invention does not refer to a port in a narrow sense, but refers to the extraction point of the output signal of the frequency conversion circuit. The extraction point can be used as an output port, or the signal of the output end can be extracted through other required output circuits.

[0071] Furthermore, in any of the aforementioned embodiments, the current source I may be a single current source, or may be composed of multiple current sources connected in parallel.

[0072] The foregoing description is provided to enable any person skilled in the art to practice the various aspects described herein. However, it should be understood that the scope of protection of the present invention is subject to the appended claims and is not limited to the specific structures and components of the above-illustrated embodiments. Those skilled in the art may make various changes and modifications to the various embodiments within the spirit and scope of the present invention, and such changes and modifications are also within the scope of protection of the present invention.
