Description

Cosmetic composition for restoring damaged hair

[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for hair containing a Bis-Bromoacetylaminoethyl Glycol compound as an active ingredient, which is non-toxic to the human body, restores damaged hair, and can be used in the form of a shampoo, treatment, serum, cream, oil, etc.

[0002] Hair is a bundle of fibers, consisting of millions of polypeptides, regularly twisted together by repeating peptide bonds of approximately 18 different amino acids. Peptide bonds are the main backbone bonds, giving it a very strong molecular structure and firmly anchoring it in place through disulfide bonds, salt bonds, and hydrogen bonds in both transverse and cross-chain directions.

[0003] Salt bonds, also called ionic bonds, are relatively weak bonds formed by intermolecular forces between negative and positive charges between acidic amino acids with carboxyl groups on the side chains, such as aspartic acid and glutamic acid, and basic amino acids with two amino groups and one carboxyl group, such as lysine, arginine, and histidine. Salt bonds are easily destroyed by changes in pH and are restored when the pH returns to normal. Salt bonds are much weaker than disulfide bonds, but they account for about 30% of hair strength because of the large number of bonds.

[0004] Hydrogen bonds are very weak physical transverse bonds between positive and negative charges due to the difference in electronegativity of hydrogen and oxygen. They are easily destroyed by water or heat, and are re-formed when dried or cooled.

[0005] A disulfide bond is a very strong bond called an SS bond, which is a covalent bond between sulfur atoms in the form of -SS-, where the thiol groups of two adjacent cysteines are bonded together.

[0006] However, even the strongest disulfide bonds can be easily modified or damaged by intense heat or chemical treatments such as permanent waves and hair dyes. That is, these side chain bonds are easily affected by chemical reactions, and chemical treatments such as permanent waves, dyeing, and bleaching can break the bonds, causing some of the protein to be lost, ultimately resulting in hair damage.

[0007] In this way, the side chain bonds that determine the elasticity and strength of hair have reversible properties that allow them to break and rejoin repeatedly depending on water, pH, and chemical oxidation / reduction reactions. However, some of them can be lost through repeated chemical treatments and extreme heat and chemical treatments, making them unable to rejoin, which can cause permanent damage to the hair.

[0008] Prior art on a cosmetic composition for restoring hair from such permanent damage can be exemplified by Korean Patent Publication No. 2021-0081672 (Patent Document 1). The present invention is a cosmetic composition for restoring damaged hair, comprising 75 to 94 wt% of a keratin protein or peptide having a weight of 520 to 3,000 daltons; 5 to 20 wt% of coconut oil; and 1 to 5 wt% of citric acid, based on the total weight of the composition, and provides effects such as gloss, lubricity, moisturizing properties, and styling elasticity.

[0009] However, it is difficult to expect recovery of hair side chain bonds such as disulfide bonds by adding hair components such as keratin protein or peptides, so the hair recovery effect is very limited.

[0010] Therefore, there is an urgent need for research on cosmetic compositions for restoring damaged hair that can restore hair damaged by various physical, chemical or environmental factors to its original healthy state.

[0066]

[0067] Example

[0068]

[0069] Comparative Examples 1 to 4 and Examples 1 to 4 were prepared by placing the components of Table 1 into a mixing container and stirring them for 5 minutes using a Homo mixer, and then performing the following experiments.

[0070]

[0071] Experimental example

[0072] 1. Conditioning Evaluation

[0073] In order to evaluate the conditioning of Comparative Examples 1 to 4 and Examples 1 to 4, the frictional force of experimental hair weighing 6 g and 100 mm in length was measured using a friction coefficient tester (Neo-Tribo (FCMS 170)), and each sample was evenly applied to the same hair.

[0074] At this time, 2g each of the experimental contents of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 and Examples 1 and 2 were applied to 6g of healthy hair tufts and absorbed, and 2g each of the experimental contents of Comparative Examples 3 and 4 and Examples 3 and 4 were applied to 6g of damaged hair tufts that had been bleached three times and absorbed to treat the samples (i.e., healthy hair is the untreated group, damaged hair is the bleached group, and the origin of each hair tuft may be the same or different).

[0075] The friction of dried hair is measured using a friction coefficient tester (Neo-Tribo (FCMS 170)).

[0076] The greater the change in the coefficient of friction, the better the hair conditioning effect.

[0077]

[0078]

[0079] 2. Wool (gloss and sheen) evaluation

[0080] To evaluate the wool effect of Comparative Examples 1 to 4 and Examples 1 to 4, the hair samples were evenly applied and dried (i.e., healthy hair is the untreated group, damaged hair is the bleached group, and the origin of each hair tuft may be the same or different).

[0081] By illuminating a hair sample with a constant light source, gloss bands, which appear as light scattering on the hair surface, are visually observed. The larger the area of the band and the more evenly it spreads, the greater the gloss.

[0082] The results were as shown in Fig. 1 and Table 3 below.

[0083] Comparative Example 1 Comparative Example 2 Example 1 Example 2 Comparative Example 3 Comparative Example 4 Example 3 Example 4 +++++++++++++++++++++ Note: + indicates the gloss level using a 5-point rating system evaluated by the researcher, and the higher the number, the wider the gloss band observed.

[0084]

[0085] 3. Evaluation of damaged hair bonding strength

[0086] In order to check for damaged bonds and hair elasticity according to Comparative Examples 1 to 4 and Examples 1 to 4, tensile strength evaluation was conducted as follows.

[0087] 2g of each of the experimental contents of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 and Examples 1 and 2 were applied to 6g of healthy hair tufts and allowed to be absorbed, and 2g of each of the experimental contents of Comparative Examples 3 and 4 and Examples 3 and 4 were applied to 6g of damaged hair tufts that had been bleached three times and allowed to be absorbed to treat the samples (i.e., healthy hair is the untreated group, damaged hair is the bleached group, and the origin of each hair tuft may be the same or different).

[0088] Dried hair was measured using a tensile strength tester (model name: Neo-Tribo (FCMS 170)), and the values obtained from a total of 10 tests were statistically processed.

[0089] The results were as shown in Table 4 below.

[0090]

[0091] As confirmed in the above experiment, it can be confirmed that the hair cosmetic composition of the present invention re-bonds damaged bonds in the hair, restores elasticity and damage to the hair, and improves smoothness and shine of the hair.

[0092]

[0093] The present invention can be widely used in the hair care field.
