AI Technical Summary
Aircraft are at risk of damage due to collisions with external obstacles like electrical wires or telephone cables during flight, as existing cable cutter systems fail to effectively absorb the high-speed impact forces, leading to erosion of cutting surfaces.
The cutter mechanism incorporates movable plates with a damping mechanism, where the plates move from a first position to a second position upon cable impact, allowing the force to be partially absorbed and directed towards a cutter for safe cable cutting.
This solution effectively reduces the damage to the aircraft surface by damping the force generated during cable impact, ensuring safer operation by preventing erosion of cutting surfaces and minimizing damage from high-speed collisions.

Abstract
Description
[0001] A CUTTER MECHANISM
[0002] Th present invention relates to a cutter mechanism that provides damping on cable cutters in aircraft.
[0003] In aircraft, which may be helicopters, planes, or unmanned aerial vehicles, accidents such as damage to the aircraft or crashing of the aircraft may occur as a result of external obstacles such as electrical wires or telephone cables hitting the aircraft during flight. Cable cutter systems are used on the aircraft to reduce the risk of damage by hitting the aircraft surface with obstacles such as electrical wires or telephone cables. Cable cutter systems can be placed on the upper or lower surface of the aircraft and are produced to have high resistance when cutting the cable. Since the cable hits the cable cutter on the aircraft at very high speeds, it erodes the cutting surfaces and causes damage.
[0004] Aircraft cable cutter systems are mentioned in the United States patent document numbered US10196136B2 in the state of the art. The cable directly contacts the cutting blades and by means of the reverse connection of the cutting blades to the arms, the cutting blades are closed. Thus, cable cutting is carried out. Since the cable cutters are connected to the spring, energy damping can be achieved when the cable first contacts the blades. The spring restores the blades after the cable is cut.
[0005] In the United States patent document numbered US91 14873B2 in the state of the art, the body is fixed to the upper part of the jaw by means of a pivot pin or a fastening pin passing through said upper part and said jaw. The rotary blade is thus suitable for rotating a pivot pin extending into the notch in a Y direction, in the direction of the thickness of the jaw, about the pivot axis. When the rotary blade is in its initial position, the tapered side is visible as the body of the rotary blade is fixed within the setback at the top of the jaw. At least one cable is inserted into the notch before coming into contact with the device. More precisely, the rotary blade is arranged in the notch in an upward direction from the first and second sharp edges. The first and second sharp edges are placed to extend the rotary blade. The jaw comprises a return spring to keep the rotary blade in its original position when there is no cable. By means of a cutter mechanism developed with the present invention, when the aircraft gets stuck on obstacles such as cables or wires during flight or taxi, the wire is cut by cutters and the aircraft is prevented from being damaged.
[0006] Another aim of the invention is to reduce the damage to the surface by damping the force generated on the cutting surface when the aircraft gets stuck on obstacles such as cables or wires during flight or taxi.
[0007] The cutter mechanism defined in the first claim and the claims dependent on this claim, which is realised to achieve the aim of the invention, includes a body that is an air vehicle. There is at least one cutter on the body that cuts a cable that hits the body during the movement of the body, thus preventing damage to the body. There is at least one panel on the body and a cutter is located in the panel.
[0008] The cutter mechanism of the invention comprises at least two plates positioned movably and opposite each other on the panel. It comprises a first position (I) where the plates contact each other and a second position (II) where the plates move away from each other by a certain distance due to the impact of the cable between the plates. The cable creates force by hitting the plates, and by allowing the plates to move from the first position (I) to the second position (II), some of the resulting force is allowed to be damped. When the plates reach the second position (II), the cable slides over the plates and is directed towards the cutter.
[0009] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least one slot on the panel inside the tube, into which the plates enter when they move from the first position (I) to the second position (II).
[0010] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least one spring that is compressed by the plate by storing energy as the plate enters the slot, with the force generated by the cable hitting the plates, located inside the slot. By means of the spring, the plate is held in the slot in the second position (II).
[0011] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises a spring located in the slot, which moves the plate from the tight position to the released position when the plate comes out of the slot, allowing the plate to come to the first position (I) and being held there. In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises a spring that almost completely absorbs the impact force created by the cable by moving to the second position (I) when the cable hits the plate.
[0012] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises more than one spring positioned within the slot to allow damping at more than one place where the cable hits the plate.
[0013] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises plates that extend in front of the cutter and ensure that the cable hitting it is directed towards the cutter. The cable slides between the plates and is directed towards the cutter.
[0014] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least one explosive within the panel that triggers the cutter so that the cutter is activated.
[0015] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least one trigger between the cutter and the plate, which triggers the explosive upon contact of the cable.
[0016] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least two cutters that are supported around a support point on the panel at a location predetermined by the user, and when the explosive is triggered, they approach each other at least partially, centring on the support point, thus allowing the cable to be cut by remaining between them.
[0017] In one embodiment of the invention, the cutter mechanism comprises at least two cutters, which are predetermined by the manufacturer and preferably produced as C- shaped, to surround the cable between them.
[0018] The cutter mechanism realised to achieve the aim of this invention is shown in the attached figures, and of these figures;
[0019] Figure 1 is the side view of the cutter mechanism.
