Abstract
Description
Folding oil fence with rapid deployment and recovery
[0001] The disclosed content relates to a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and recovery, which is configured such that multiple fence units are connected to enable stacked storage of the fence units, and is configured such that rapid automatic installation at sea is possible by the elasticity of a tension spring provided inside the fence unit, thereby preventing the spread of spilled crude oil in the event of a crude oil spill at sea and enabling rapid capture.
[0002] Unless otherwise indicated herein, the material described in this section is not prior art to the claims of this application, and its inclusion in this section is not intended to be admitted as prior art.
[0003]
[0004] When an oil spill occurs in the ocean or a river, the oil or hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) float on the surface of the water and rapidly spread throughout the surrounding area, causing serious environmental pollution. Therefore, when an oil or HNS spill occurs, it is crucial to promptly remove the spilled oil or HNS.
[0005] When an oil spill occurs, conventional methods include spraying emulsifiers onto the surface of the oil to cause it to sink to the ocean or riverbed, or using absorbent pads to remove the oil from the shore after it has spread to the shore. However, emulsifiers can cause secondary contamination by causing the oil to settle to the bottom, and absorbent pads can only be used after the spread of the contaminant has already progressed significantly. Therefore, technologies that effectively block and recover the oil immediately after a spill are required.
[0006] Additionally, when a ship carrying oil, such as an oil tanker, collides at sea and the oil spills into the sea, an oil fence can be used to prevent the spread of the spilled oil and to quickly collect it.
[0007] According to conventional technology, when an oil spill accident occurs at sea, an oil fence that functions as a barrier is loaded onto a mobile vessel and moved to the oil spill area, and then the oil fence is placed around the spilled oil by a tugboat or the like to prevent the spread of the oil, and the oil blocked by the oil fence is collected by using a collection vessel that collects the spilled oil.
[0008] However, since the oil fence according to this conventional technology is manually moved and placed by a tugboat or the like, it is difficult to place each unit of the oil fence in an appropriate location, and since the oil fence only has the function of a barrier, there is a problem in that the height, etc. cannot be actively adjusted according to surrounding influences such as waves, wind, currents or tsunamis, and because of the volume of the oil fence itself, it is difficult to store it or move it to the accident area.
[0009] In addition, conventional oil fences are bulky and heavy, and require additional equipment such as hydraulic fillers for collection and storage, making transportation and storage difficult.
[0010] In particular, in the case of solid oil fences using styrofoam buoyancy bodies, they cannot be folded and stored, so their volume is quite large, which causes problems in storage.
[0011] As an example of such an oil fence, Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2018-0076882 (published on July 6, 2018) discloses an oil fence having a floater that floats on the surface of water, an oil separation membrane that is connected to the floater and allows water to pass through and captures substances contained in the water, and the oil separation membrane has a porous material whose surface is treated to have hydrophilic properties.
[0012] In addition, Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2019-0136814 (published on December 10, 2019) discloses an automatic expansion oil fence device that is easy to replace a buoyancy material, which uses a floating body that automatically expands by utilizing the elasticity of a buoyancy material, and is configured to allow replacement of a buoyancy material by inserting and removing a thin plate-shaped composite material buoyancy material bent into a semicircular or circular shape into a buoyancy material pocket.
[0013] However, in the case of the oil fence as described above, the oil fence is modularized and connected in multiple pieces so that it can be folded in a zigzag pattern for storage in a small volume, and it does not include a function to automatically unfold at sea to quickly prevent and capture the spread of spilled crude oil in the event of a crude oil spill at sea, so there is a limit to the quick extension and recovery function of the oil fence.
[0014] The present invention provides a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and recovery, comprising: a fence unit capable of automatic expansion by elasticity; a connecting portion connecting the fence unit to an adjacent fence unit; and an outer shell covering a plurality of fence units connected by the connecting portion; wherein the fence unit comprises a structure connected by the connecting portion so that side edges can rotate; a buoyant body having buoyancy; a tension spring fastened to opposite edges of the structure; and a load providing portion providing a load to the structure, thereby enabling not only stacked storage of the fence units but also rapid automatic installation at sea by the elastic force of the tension spring, thereby preventing the spread of spilled crude oil in the event of a crude oil spill at sea and enabling rapid capture.

[0066] FIG. 1 is a first perspective view showing the overall configuration of a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and recovery according to an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, FIG. 2 is a second perspective view showing the detailed configuration of a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and recovery according to an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, and FIG. 8 is a state diagram showing a state of use of a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and recovery according to an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter.
[0067]
[0068] A folding oil fence (1) capable of rapid deployment and recovery according to the disclosed content is configured such that a plurality of fence units (100) are connected to each other, so that the fence units (100) can be folded in a zigzag pattern for stacked storage, and is configured such that rapid automatic installation at sea is possible by the elasticity of a tension spring (131) provided inside the fence unit (100), thereby preventing the spread of spilled crude oil and enabling rapid capture in the event of a crude oil spill at sea. As illustrated in FIGS. 1, 2, and 6, the folding oil fence may include a fence unit (100), a connecting portion (200), and an outer shell (300).
[0069]
[0070] The above fence unit (100) is configured to automatically expand due to elasticity.
[0071] Specifically, the above fence unit (100) corresponds to a unit module of an oil fence (1) that is connected in multiple pieces to the inside of the outer shell (300) and installed in a belt shape on the sea, and is connected to a neighboring fence unit (100) by a connecting portion (200) coupled to both sides of the fence unit (100), and the outer shell (300) is covered and fastened to the outer surface of the long belt-shaped fence unit (100) and the connecting portion (200) thus formed, thereby forming a folding oil fence (1) that can be quickly extended and recovered according to the disclosed content.
[0072] In addition, the above fence unit (100) is configured so that multiple plates can be folded and connected, and can be unfolded without separate operation when deployed at sea due to elasticity, so that it can stand upright stably at sea.
[0073] Accordingly, the fence unit (100) may include a structure (110), a buoyancy body (120), an elastic part (130), and a load providing part (140).
[0074]
[0075] Figure 3 is a schematic diagram showing the detailed configuration of a structure according to an embodiment of the disclosed content.
[0076]
[0077] The structure (110) according to the disclosed content is configured to have a hollow interior as shown in FIG. 3, and the side edges are connected to each other so that they can rotate.
[0078] In addition, the structure (110) includes a first surface (111), a second surface (112) having one end connected to one end of the first surface (111), a third surface (113) having one end connected to the other end of the first surface (111), and a fourth surface (114) having one end connected to the other end of the second surface (112) and the other end connected to the other end of the third surface (113).
[0079] Accordingly, the structure (110) is configured such that the first surface (111), the second surface (112), the third surface (113), and the fourth surface (114) are connected by joints, and the cross section of the structure (110) has a diamond shape when automatically expanded.
[0080] In addition, the structure (110) is configured so that each surface edge can rotate by an external force, so that when the oil fence (1) is stored, it can be pressed flat by an external force (the load of the fence units stacked in layers) and stacked in a zigzag pattern, and when deployed at sea, the structure (110) that is pressed while being placed at sea can be unfolded by the elastic restoring force of the tension spring (130) provided inside, so that it can be deployed at sea in a state where the cross-section has a diamond shape.
[0081] In addition, as shown in Fig. 6(a), the structure (110) has a buoyancy body (120) formed with a certain area on the inner side of the first surface (111) and the second surface (112), so that the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) can be exposed above the water surface.
[0082] That is, the structure (110) forms an upper freeboard in which the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) are exposed above the sea surface, and the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) are exposed in a triangular shape above the sea surface, thereby enabling stable oil capture.
[0083] In this case, the third side (113) and the fourth side (114) can be placed in a state of being submerged in seawater to form the first skirt part (113b) and the second skirt part (114b) to be described later.
[0084] Accordingly, the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) may be provided with a buoyancy body (120) for buoyancy, and the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114) may be provided with a load providing unit (140) that provides a constant load so that the shape can be stably maintained while being submerged below the sea level.
[0085] Meanwhile, as shown in FIG. 6(b), the structure (110) may have a buoyancy body (120) attached not only to the inner side of the first side (111) and the second side (112), but also to an area of the third side (113) adjacent to the first side (111), that is, the upper side of the third side (113), and an area of the fourth side (114) adjacent to the second side (112), that is, the inner side of the upper side of the fourth side (114).
[0086] In this case, one area of the first surface (111), the second surface (112), the third surface (113) and one area of the fourth surface (114) may be exposed above the water surface.
[0087] This configuration not only increases the efficiency of oil capture by exposing a certain portion of the upper side of the third side (113) and the fourth side (114) to the water surface, but also offsets waves, allowing the oil fence to be placed more stably on the sea even against waves.
[0088] In addition, it may be preferable that the above structure (110) be made of PP (Polypropylene) material that is lightweight, yet maintains a stable shape and has excellent durability.
[0089]
[0090] FIG. 5 is a state diagram showing a state in which the third and fourth sides are combined with the first slit and the second slit according to an embodiment of the disclosed content.
[0091]
[0092] The third surface (113) according to the disclosed content is a surface that is connected to the fourth surface (114) and is placed below the sea level as shown in FIG. 5, and may include a first slit (113a) that is horizontally perforated in a certain portion of the other side and a first skirt portion (113b) that extends from the first slit (113a) to the other end of the third surface (113).
[0093]
[0094] The above first slit (113a) is a longitudinal through hole arranged in a certain portion of the lower side of the third surface (113), and is a longitudinal through hole extending from one end edge of the third surface (113) to the center so as to communicate with the outside.
[0095] In addition, the first slit (113a) is fitted into the second slit (114a) described later, thereby enabling the third side (113) and the fourth side (114) to be combined.
[0096]
[0097] The above first skirt portion (113b) is a portion that extends from the third surface (113) to the bottom based on the first slit (113a).
[0098] In addition, the first skirt part (113b) is arranged underwater in an 'ㅅ' shape with the second skirt part (114b) described later, thereby forming an open state at the lower part of the skirt, thereby preventing the risk of submersion and loss of function.
[0099] In addition, the first skirt portion (113b) may be provided with a first load member (142) to be described later, which applies a constant load to the structure (110) so that the structure (110) can stand upright stably while submerged in the sea surface.
[0100]
[0101] The fourth surface (114) is a surface that is connected to the third surface (113) and is positioned below the sea level as shown in FIG. 5, and may include a second slit (114a) that is perforated in a horizontal direction opposite to the first slit (113a) at a position corresponding to the first slit (113a) and a second skirt portion (114b) that extends from the second slit (114a) to the other end of the fourth surface (114).
[0102]
[0103] The above second slit (114a) is a longitudinal through hole arranged in a certain portion of the lower side of the fourth surface (114), and is a longitudinal through hole extending from the other end edge of the fourth surface (114) toward the center so as to communicate with the outside.
[0104] That is, the second slit (114a) is opened in the opposite direction to the direction of the first slit (113a), and is fitted into the first slit (113a), thereby allowing the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114) to be joined.
[0105]
[0106] The above second skirt portion (114b) is a portion that extends from the fourth surface (114) to the bottom based on the second slit (114a).
[0107] In addition, the second skirt part (114b) is positioned underwater in an 'ㅅ' shape with the first skirt part (113b), thereby forming an open state at the lower part of the skirt, thereby preventing the risk of submersion and loss of function.
[0108] In addition, the second skirt portion (114b) may be provided with a first load member (142) that applies a constant load to the structure (110) so that the structure (110) can stand upright stably while submerged in the sea surface.
[0109] That is, the third side (113) and the fourth side (114) are joined with the first slit (113a) and the second slit (114a) fitted together, so that the first skirt part (113b) and the second skirt part (114b) are opened at the bottom in an 'ㅅ' shape.
[0110] In addition, the structure (110) may further include a water hole (115), a fastening hole (116), and a fastening member (117).
[0111]
[0112] The above-mentioned water hole (115) is a hole of a certain area provided on the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114), and when the structure (110) expands above the water surface, water smoothly flows into the structure (110), allowing the structure (110) to expand quickly.
[0113] In addition, the above-described water hole (115) is not limited to the shape or number shown, and can be applied in various shapes and numbers depending on the specifications and shape of the structure (110).

[0116] That is, the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) can be joined by connecting a string-shaped fastening member (117) to a plurality of fastening holes (116) formed on one side of each surface.
[0117]
[0118] The above fastening member (117) is configured as a string or ring that is fastened after connecting the fastening hole (116) of the first surface (111) and the fastening hole (116) of the second surface (112), and any known fastening member can be applied without limitation.
[0119]
[0120] FIG. 6(a) is a cross-sectional view of a folding oil fence capable of rapid expansion and recovery with a buoyancy body applied according to one embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, and FIG. 6(b) is a cross-sectional view of a folding oil fence capable of rapid expansion and recovery with a buoyancy body applied according to another embodiment of the disclosed subject matter.
[0121]
[0122] The buoyancy body (120) according to the disclosed content is attached to one side area of the structure (110) and has a buoyancy configuration.
[0123] Specifically, the buoyancy body (120) is configured to be attached to the inside of the structure so that the oil fence (1) can safely float above the water surface by buoyancy, and even if it is damaged, it maintains buoyancy and maintains its own shape, thereby preventing the oil fence (1) from being submerged.
[0124] In addition, the buoyancy body according to one embodiment of the disclosed content is attached to the inner side of the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) with a certain area as shown in FIG. 6(a), so that the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) are placed on the sea surface.
[0125] In addition, the buoyancy body (110) according to another embodiment of the disclosed content may be attached to a certain area on the inner side of the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) as shown in FIG. 6(b), as well as to an area on the inner side of the third surface (113) adjacent to the first surface (111) and an area on the inner side of the fourth surface (114) adjacent to the second surface (112).
[0126] In this case, the upper portions of the first surface (111), the second surface (112), the third surface (113) and the upper portions of the fourth surface (114) can be exposed above the sea surface.
[0127] This configuration not only increases the efficiency of oil capture by exposing a certain portion of the upper side of the third side (113) and the fourth side (114) above the water surface, but also offsets waves, allowing the oil fence to be placed more stably on the sea even against waves.
[0128] Additionally, the buoyancy body (120) is made of high polyethylene and may be filled with polyurethane foam to prevent damage due to impact.
[0129] Additionally, the buoyancy body (120) becomes resistant to benzene and chemicals.
[0130] Additionally, the buoyancy body (120) can also be attached to the connecting portion (200) as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
[0131]
[0132] FIG. 4(a) is a cross-sectional view showing a folded state of a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and retrieval according to an embodiment of the disclosed content, and FIG. 4(b) is a cross-sectional view showing an unfolded state of a folding oil fence capable of rapid extension and retrieval according to an embodiment of the disclosed content.
[0133]
[0134] The elastic member (130) according to the disclosed content is configured such that both ends are fastened to opposite corners of the structure (110) as shown in FIG. 4(a) and FIG. 4(b), and the structure (110) is automatically expanded by elasticity.
[0135] Specifically, the elastic member (130) is a longitudinal elastic member that crosses the inner space of the structure (110), and when the fence unit (1) is stored, it is stretched by an external force pressing down as shown in FIG. 4(a) so that the structure can be folded flat, and when the fence unit (1) is deployed at sea, it is contracted by a restoring force when the external force pressing down is removed as shown in FIG. 4(b) so that the structure (110) can be unfolded into a diamond shape.
[0136] Accordingly, the elastic member (130) is connected at one end to one side of the corner where the first surface (111) and the third surface (113) meet, and at the other end to one side of the corner where the second surface (112) and the fourth surface (114) meet, so that the first surface (111) and the second surface (112) can be arranged above the sea surface, and the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114) can be arranged below the sea surface.
[0137] Additionally, the elastic member (130) may include a tensile spring (131) and a fixed tube (132).
[0138]
[0139] The above tensile spring (131) is a longitudinal spring in which one end is connected to the other end of the first surface (111) and the other end is connected to the other end of the second surface (112).
[0140] In addition, the tension spring (131) is pressed and extended at the upper side by an external force when the oil fence (1) is stored, and when it is deployed at sea, the pressing external force is removed and it contracts by elastic restoring force, thereby allowing the structure (110) to expand.
[0141]
[0142] The above fixed tube (132) is a cylindrical tube in the longitudinal direction that surrounds the tension spring (131), and is a tube that maintains a constant width gap of the structure (110) when the structure (110) expands.
[0143] That is, the fixed tube (132) is a cylindrical tube that surrounds the tension spring (131), and is formed with a length equal to the width interval of the structure (110) required when the structure (110) is expanded, so that the structure (110) can maintain a constant width interval when expanded by the fixed tube (132).
[0144] In addition, the fixed tube (132) prevents the tension spring (131) inserted inside from being twisted or folded during use.
[0145] Accordingly, the fixed pipe (132) is formed so that the diameter of the internal hole is larger than the thickness of the tension spring (131) so that the tension spring (131) can be placed with sufficient room, and the length of the fixed pipe (132) is determined by the width gap of the structure (110) required when the structure (110) expands, that is, the distance from the corner where the first surface (111) and the third surface (113) meet to the corner where the second surface (112) and the fourth surface (114) meet.
[0146]
[0147] The above load providing unit (140) is configured to be fastened to the other side area of the structure (110) and to provide a load so that the structure (110) can stand upright under the water surface.
[0148] Accordingly, it may be desirable for the load-providing unit (140) to be placed on the portion of the structure (110) that is submerged in the sea surface, i.e., the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114), so that the load-providing unit (140) can stably maintain its shape while submerged below the sea surface.
[0149] In addition, the load providing unit (140) may include a hinge member (141), a first load member (142), and a second load member (143).
[0150]
[0151] The above hinge member (141) is formed between the first slit (113a) and the second slit (114a), and is configured to couple and rotate the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114).
[0152] Specifically, the hinge member (141) is configured as a metal hinge on one side of the corner where the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114) are connected, thereby further strengthening the connection of the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114) connected by the first slit (113a) and the second slit (114a), while also performing the function of providing a load to the structure by being configured as a metal.
[0153]
[0154] The above first load member (142) is a plate-shaped metal body attached to each of the first skirt portion (113b) and the second skirt portion (114b) covered with the outer skin (300).
[0155] Accordingly, the first load member (142) is a rectangular metal plate that is fastened to the outer side of the outer skin (300) that covers the outer surface of the first skirt part (113b) by joining the outer skin (300) and the first skirt part (113b).
[0156] In addition, the first load member (142) is a rectangular metal plate that is fastened to the outer side of the outer skin (300) that covers the outer surface of the second skirt part (114b) by joining the outer skin (300) and the second skirt part (114b).
[0157] Accordingly, the first load member (142) performs both the function of joining the outer skin (300) to the structure (110) and the function of providing a load to the lower side of the structure (110).
[0158]
[0159] The above second load member (143) is a metal plate in the shape of a plate attached to the outer surface of the third surface (113) and the fourth surface (114).
[0160] In addition, the second load member (143) can be fastened in various specifications and arrangements according to the specifications and size of the structure (110).
[0161]
[0162] Therefore, it may be preferable that the hinge member (141), the first load member (142), and the second load member (143) corresponding to the load providing unit (140) be composed of a metal having a constant load.
[0163]
[0164] The above connecting portion (200) is arranged on both sides of the fence unit (100) and is configured to connect the fence unit (100) to a neighboring fence unit (100).
[0165] In addition, the connecting portion (200) may include a longitudinal connecting member (210) having at least one connecting hole (211) on both sides, and a connecting member (220) that connects the connecting hole (211) to a connecting hole (211) of an adjacent fence unit.
[0166]
[0167] The above connecting member (210) is in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped with a constant length, and a connecting hole (211) into which the connecting member (220) is inserted is arranged at both ends, so that the structure (110) can be connected to an adjacent structure (110).
[0168] In addition, the connecting member (210) has a length that allows each fence unit (100) to be connected at an interval that allows the fence unit (100) to be folded in a zigzag pattern when stored.
[0169] If the length of the connecting member (210) is too short and the gap between the fence units (100) is narrow, it may be difficult to stack the fence units (100) in a zigzag pattern during storage. Therefore, the connecting member (210) is configured to have an appropriate length so that the fence units (100) can be stacked in a zigzag pattern.
[0170]
[0171] The above-mentioned connecting member (220) is configured as a string or ring that is fastened after connecting the connecting hole (211) and the connecting hole (211) of the adjacent structure (110), and any known one can be applied without limitation.
[0172]
[0173] The above outer shell (300) is configured to cover the outer surface of a plurality of fence units (100) connected by the above connecting portion (200).
[0174] That is, the outer shell (300) is configured to cover the outer surface of a plurality of fence units (100) that are connected at regular intervals by connecting portions (200), and both ends are connected to the first skirt portion (113b) and the second skirt portion (114b) by the first load member (142).
[0175] Additionally, the outer shell (300) may be composed of a material such as PVC tarpaulin or PU.
[0176]
[0177] Fig. 7 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a webbing strap according to an embodiment of the disclosed content.
[0178]
[0179] A folding oil fence (1) capable of rapid deployment and recovery according to an embodiment of the disclosed content may further include a webbing strap (400) attached longitudinally to the outer surface of the outer shell (300) as shown in FIG. 7.
[0180]
[0181] The above webbing strap (400) is configured in the longitudinal direction to be attached to the outer skin (300) so as to cover the outer skin (300) on the corner side of the fence unit (100).
[0182] Specifically, the webbing strap (400) is attached to increase the durability of the outer skin (300) on the corner side of the structure (110) where the folding oil fence (1) is repeatedly folded and unfolded for storage and installation, thereby reinforcing the tension and external friction of the outer skin (300).
[0183] Accordingly, the webbing strap (400) is attached longitudinally to the outer skin (300) on the corner side of the diamond-shaped structure (110), thereby preventing tearing or damage to the outer skin (300).
[0184] Accordingly, it may be desirable for the webbing strap (400) to be made of a material that has excellent strength and does not stretch or tear even when subjected to impact.
[0185]
[0186] According to a folding oil fence capable of rapid deployment and recovery according to one embodiment disclosed, it is configured to enable rapid automatic installation at sea by the elasticity of a tension spring provided inside the fence unit, thereby preventing the spread of spilled crude oil in the event of a crude oil spill at sea and enabling rapid capture.
[0187] In addition, since a plurality of fence units are connected by joints and then covered with an outer skin, the fence units can be folded in a zigzag pattern for stacking and storage, which has the effect of significantly reducing the volume during storage.
[0188] In addition, since no additional equipment such as hydraulic presses are required for collection and storage, it can be utilized for rapid initial response measures by maritime police such as coast guard patrol ships and police stations, which has the effect of significantly improving the prevention of marine pollution.
[0189] In addition, since each buoyancy body inside the oil fence is not connected as a whole but is configured as a single module, the twisting phenomenon of the oil fence is prevented.
[0190] In addition, the first and second skirt sections, which are submerged below the sea level, can maintain their shape stably, and since they are configured in an 'ㅅ' shape and the lower part is open, there is no problem of submersion or loss of function.
[0191] In addition, the load providing member, which is composed of a hinge member fastened between the first slit and the second slit, a plate-shaped first load member attached to each of the first skirt portion and the second skirt portion, and a plate-shaped second load member attached to the outer surfaces of the third and fourth surfaces, functions as a weight of the structure, thereby enabling the lower part of the structure spread out in a diamond shape to stably stand upright under the water surface.
[0192] In addition, since the structure includes a perforated water hole with a certain area on the third and fourth sides, when the structure expands above the water surface, water smoothly flows into the inside of the structure, thereby enabling rapid expansion.
[0193]
