Description

Work machinery

[0001] The present invention relates to a work machine equipped with an indicator capable of indicating the rotation speed of a power unit such as an engine that serves as a power source for operating a work device.

[0002] Hydraulic excavators and other work machines are equipped with an engine and a hydraulic pump, and the rotation of the engine discharges hydraulic oil from the hydraulic pump, which drives the actuators installed on the work machine. The operator in the driver's seat can set the engine rotation speed to an appropriate level depending on the work load.

[0003] Typically, engine rotation speed is set via a dial-type input device such as that described in Patent Document 1. Dial-type input devices have a predetermined range of rotation for the dial. For example, when the dial is rotated to the limit position in the clockwise direction, the engine rotation speed becomes maximum, and conversely, when the dial is rotated to the limit position in the counterclockwise direction, the engine rotation speed becomes minimum. Furthermore, when the dial is positioned between the limit positions, any rotation speed between the maximum and minimum rotation speeds can be set depending on the position. With such dial-type input devices, the minimum and maximum dial positions are used as references, allowing the operator to intuitively set the engine rotation speed.

[0004] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2008-150965

[0005] However, in dial-type input devices, the minimum and maximum engine rotation speed values corresponding to the dial's limit positions are generally set according to the specifications of the engine installed in the work machine, etc. Therefore, if the rotatable range (movable range) of the dial is set wide, the change in engine rotation speed relative to the amount of rotation of the dial becomes small, making it possible to fine-tune the engine rotation speed, but in work where the engine rotation speed is often greatly increased or decreased, this may result in reduced work efficiency and be troublesome for the operator.

[0006] On the other hand, narrowing the rotatable range of the dial (movable range) increases the change in engine speed relative to the amount of rotation of the dial, so while it is possible to quickly make large increases or decreases in engine speed, it is not suitable for fine adjustment of engine speed. In this case, it is difficult to set an appropriate engine speed according to the work content, making it impossible to optimize the operating state of the work machine, and there is a concern that this may result in a deterioration in fuel efficiency.

[0007] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a work machine that is capable of achieving both large increases and decreases in engine rotation speed and ease of fine adjustment.

[0008] In order to solve the above problem, the working machine of the present invention is a working machine comprising a power unit that drives rotation, a working device that operates using the power unit as a power source, and an indicator device that instructs the power unit to increase or decrease the rotational speed, wherein the indicator device has a first indicator device and a second indicator device, and the smallest unit of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the first indicator device is different from the smallest unit of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the second indicator device.

[0009] According to the present invention, it is possible to achieve both large increases and decreases in the rotation speed of the power unit and ease of fine adjustment.

[0011] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings, showing an example of a work machine using the present invention.

[0012] An overview of a hydraulic excavator 1, an example of a work machine, is shown in Fig. 1. The hydraulic excavator 1 is composed of an articulated front working machine 1A consisting of a boom 1a, an arm 1b, and a bucket 1c, each of which rotates vertically, and a vehicle body 1B consisting of an upper rotating body 1d and a lower traveling body 1e. The upper rotating body 1d is attached to the top of the lower traveling body 1e so that it can rotate left and right. In addition, a driver's cab 1f is provided on the upper rotating body 1d.

[0013] The base end of the boom 1a of the front working unit 1A is supported on the front part of the upper revolving structure 1d. The boom 1a, arm 1b, bucket 1c, upper revolving structure 1d, and lower traveling structure 1e are driven by actuators for the boom cylinder 2a, arm cylinder 2b, bucket cylinder 2c, revolving motor 3d, and left and right traveling motors 3e, 3f, respectively.

[0014] The upper rotating body 1d is equipped with an engine 4, a pump 5, an electronically controlled valve 6, and other components for operating the hydraulic excavator 1. The pump 5 is driven by the rotation of the engine 4 and discharges hydraulic oil to each actuator. The electronically controlled valve 6 controls the operation of each actuator by changing the flow rate and flow direction of the hydraulic oil in response to operation inputs from control levers 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d (see FIG. 2) provided in the operator's cab 1f. The rotational speed of the engine 4 (hereinafter referred to as engine rotational speed) is controlled by a control device 7, and the engine 4 can be driven at a preset range between a minimum rotational speed and a maximum rotational speed (hereinafter referred to as a range of 800 to 2000 rpm). The higher the engine rotational speed, the greater the flow rate of hydraulic oil discharged from the pump 5, allowing the front working implement 1A to operate at higher speeds and with greater horsepower.

[0015] Figure 2 shows the interior of the operator's cab 1f. Electric control levers 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d are installed inside the operator's cab 1f. The control levers 8a and 8b can be operated in four directions, forward, backward, left, and right, and correspond to the operation of the front work implement 1A and the upper rotating body 1d (the boom cylinder 2a, arm cylinder 2b, bucket cylinder 2c, and swing motor 3d that operate them). The control levers 8c and 8d can be operated in two directions, forward and backward, and correspond to the operation of the left and right traveling motors 3e and 3f attached to the lower traveling body 1e.

[0016] An engine control dial 9 is installed on the front right of the driver's cab 1f, and can be rotated to set an arbitrary engine rotation speed. FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the appearance of the engine control dial 9. The engine control dial 9 is a rotary input device that can be rotated infinitely, and in this embodiment, has 24 operation steps per rotation. When the engine control dial 9 is rotated clockwise 301, the engine rotation speed increases according to the amount of rotation (number of steps), and when the engine control dial 9 is rotated counterclockwise 302, the engine rotation speed decreases according to the amount of rotation (number of steps). In other words, the engine control dial 9 is a dial-type indicating device that can be rotated to increase or decrease the engine rotation speed.

[0017] Furthermore, a touch monitor 10 is installed in the operator's cab 1f, which enables confirmation of the operating status of the hydraulic excavator 1 and setting operations to be performed. Fig. 4 is a diagram showing an example of the display screen of the touch monitor 10. The display screen of the touch monitor 10 displays icons 401, 402, and 403 indicating the setting status of the hydraulic excavator 1, instruments such as a fuel level gauge 404 and a water temperature gauge 405, a camera image 406 (obtained by a camera mounted on the vehicle body 1B or the like) for assisting the operator's field of vision, a clock 407, and the like.

[0018] Additionally, a meter 408 indicating the engine rotation speed is displayed at the bottom of the display screen of the touch monitor 10, and the engine rotation speed (800 to 2000 rpm) is displayed using 24 segments. Furthermore, touch buttons 409 and 410 for increasing or decreasing the engine rotation speed are provided, and the engine rotation speed can be increased or decreased by tapping each touch button. In other words, the touch buttons 409 and 410 set or displayed on the touch monitor 10 are touch-type instruction devices that can be used to increase or decrease the engine rotation speed by touch operation. The meter 408 and touch buttons 409 and 410 may not be displayed all the time, but may be displayed only when the engine rotation speed is changed or when the operator performs a predetermined operation on the touch monitor 10.

[0019] 5 is a side view showing the positional relationship of each device. In this embodiment, the engine control dial 9 is located behind the operating lever 8b, and the touch monitor 10 (i.e., the touch buttons 409, 410) is located above and in front of the operating lever 8b. That is, the operating lever 8b is located between the engine control dial 9 and the touch buttons 409, 410. The linear distance 502 between the grip portion 501 of the operating lever 8b and the engine control dial 9 is shorter than the linear distance 503 between the grip portion 501 of the operating lever 8b and the touch buttons 409, 410 (in other words, the engine control dial 9 is located closer to the operating lever 8b than the touch buttons 409, 410). Therefore, when the operator is holding the operating lever 8b, the operator can operate the engine control dial 9 more easily than the touch buttons 409, 410. In addition, when there are multiple operating devices (operating levers) as in this embodiment, it is desirable to arrange each device based on the representative operating device that is expected to be operated (held) most frequently during normal operation of the work machine and that is located in the direction of the hand used when operating the engine control dial 9 or touch monitor 10.

[0020] 2, a shutoff lever 11 is provided on the left front side of the operator's cab 1f, and the operator switches the shutoff lever 11 to either a locked position or an unlocked position depending on the work status. When the shutoff lever 11 is in the locked position, the electronically controlled valve 6 is controlled so that the actuator does not operate, regardless of the operation of the operating levers 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d.

[0021] 6 is a diagram showing the system configuration of this embodiment. Each input / output device is connected to a control device 7, which performs various controls such as inputting and outputting information to and from an operator and issuing operational commands to the vehicle body. The control device 7 is configured to include processes of a lever input determination unit 601, an operation feasibility determination unit 602, a valve control unit 603, a dial input determination unit 604, a touch input determination unit 605, a change request value calculation unit 606, an engine control unit 607, and a display control unit 608. The processing flow in each processing unit will be described below.

[0022] A lever input determination unit 601 determines the amount of operation of each operating lever 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d based on the electrical signals output from the operating levers 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d, and outputs the result to a valve control unit 603. An operation feasibility determination unit 602 detects the position (locked position or unlocked position) of the shut-off lever 11, determines whether the vehicle body is operable based on this state, and outputs the result to the valve control unit 603 and a change request value calculation unit 606. When the vehicle body is in an operable state, the valve control unit 603 calculates and outputs a control command value for the electronically controlled valve 6 based on the amount of operation of the operating levers 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d.

[0023] The dial input determination unit 604 detects the operation of the engine control dial 9 and outputs the operation information to the change request value calculation unit 606. The operation information includes the rotation direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) of the engine control dial 9 and the number of rotation steps.

[0024] The touch input determination unit 605 determines whether or not a tap operation has been performed on the touch buttons 409 and 410, and outputs the number of times each button has been operated to the change request value calculation unit 606. Note that if the touch buttons 409 and 410 are pressed and held down, the unit 605 may determine that one tap operation has occurred every predetermined time and output the result.

[0025] The change request value calculation unit 606 calculates a change request value for the rotation speed of the engine 4 in accordance with the operation of the touch buttons 409, 410 and the engine control dial 9, and outputs the calculated value to the engine control unit 607. Figure 7 is a diagram showing the processing flow in the change request value calculation unit 606.

[0026] First, in step 606a, operation information is acquired for the touch buttons 409, 410 and the engine control dial 9. If the type of operation information acquired is a tap operation on the touch buttons 409, 410, the process proceeds to step 606b, where the type of touch button operated by the tap operation is determined.

[0027] In step 606b, if the tapped touch button is touch button 409 for increasing the engine rotation speed, the process proceeds to step 606c, where a change request value is calculated so that the engine rotation speed is increased by 50 rpm per tap. If the acquired operation information includes multiple tap operations, the smallest change request value per tap (50 rpm) is multiplied by the number of tap operations to determine the amount of increase in engine rotation speed.

[0028] On the other hand, if the type of touch button tapped in step 606b is the touch button 410 that reduces the engine rotation speed, the process proceeds to step 606d, where a change request value is calculated so that the engine rotation speed is reduced by 50 rpm per tap.

[0029] In step 606a, if the acquired operation information is a dial operation on the engine control dial 9, the process proceeds to step 606e, where the operable / inoperable state of the vehicle body determined by the operable / inoperable state determination unit 602 is acquired. If the vehicle body is in an inoperable state, the process proceeds to step 606f, where the rotation direction of the dial operation is determined. If the rotation direction of the dial operation is clockwise rotation 301, the process proceeds to step 606c, where a change request value is calculated to increase the engine rotation speed by 50 rpm per rotation step. On the other hand, if the rotation direction of the dial operation is counterclockwise rotation 302 in step 606f, the process proceeds to step 606d, where a change request value is calculated to decrease the engine rotation speed by 50 rpm per rotation step.

[0030] If the vehicle body is in an operable state in step 606e, the process proceeds to step 606g, where the rotation direction of the dial is determined in the same manner as in step 606f. If the rotation direction of the dial is clockwise 301, the process proceeds to step 606h, where a requested change value is calculated so that the engine speed is increased by 200 rpm per rotation step.

[0031] In this case, the engine rotation speed may be divided into 200 rpm divisions (800 / 1000 / 1200 / 1400 / 1600 / 1800 / 2000), and if the current engine rotation speed does not fall into one of these divisions, the process may calculate a change request value so that the engine rotation speed is increased from the current engine rotation speed to the division closest to the change direction for only the rotation operation corresponding to the first step among the input dial operations.

[0032] In step 606g, if the rotation direction of the dial operation is counterclockwise 302, the process proceeds to step 606i, where a requested change value is calculated so that the engine rotation speed is reduced by 200 rpm per rotation step, contrary to step 606h.

[0033] The requested change values for the engine rotation speed calculated in steps 606c, 606d, 606h, and 606i are output to the engine control unit 607 in step 606j, and the processing of the requested change value calculation unit 606 is terminated.

[0034] The engine control unit 607 determines the rotation speed of the engine 4 in accordance with the change request value calculated by the change request value calculation unit 606, and controls the engine 4 so as to satisfy that rotation speed. The engine rotation speed is determined comprehensively not only in accordance with the change request value calculated by the change request value calculation unit 606, but also in accordance with requests from various functions installed in the hydraulic excavator, such as an auto-idle function that automatically reduces the engine rotation speed to a minimum rotation speed when the control lever is not operated for a certain period of time or longer.

[0035] The display control unit 608 acquires the current engine rotation speed from the engine control unit 607, determines the number of segments of the meter 408 (FIG. 4) according to the engine rotation speed, and displays it on the touch monitor 10.

[0036] An example of the behavior of this embodiment will be described below. First, an example of changing the engine rotation speed using the touch monitor 10 will be described.

[0037] When the touch button 409 displayed on the touch monitor 10 for increasing the engine rotation speed is tapped three times, the change request value calculation unit 606 proceeds through steps 606a, 606b, and 606c in this order, and a change request value is determined to increase the engine rotation speed by 150 rpm. Note that, depending on the tap speed, the operating cycle of the control device, etc., a change request value for increasing the engine rotation speed by 50 rpm may be output three times.

[0038] 8 is a diagram showing the change in meter 408 when engine control unit 607 increases the engine rotation speed by 150 rpm in accordance with this change request value. If the engine rotation speed before the change is 1100 rpm, the engine rotation speed increases to 1250 rpm after the change, and the increase in engine rotation speed can be confirmed by the fact that three segments (50 rpm per segment) change to an active color as shown in (B) of FIG. 8 compared to (A).

[0039] When changing the engine speed by tapping in this way, it is possible to change the engine speed in small increments (minimum change unit) of 50 rpm. This allows the operator to fine-tune the engine speed according to the type of work being done and set an engine speed that is appropriate for the work, allowing for efficient work without consuming more fuel than necessary.

[0040] Although the present embodiment shows an example in which a tap operation is used, the engine rotation speed may also be set using a different type of touch operation, such as a swipe operation using a slider bar. Also, in the present embodiment, the amount of change in engine rotation speed due to a tap operation is set to 50 rpm, but any value may be set depending on the characteristics of the work machine, etc.

[0041] Next, an example of changing the engine rotation speed using the engine control dial 9 will be described.

[0042] When the shut-off lever 11 is in an unlocked state and the hydraulic excavator 1 is in an operable state, if the engine control dial 9 is rotated 301 three steps to the right, the change request value calculation unit 606 proceeds through the processing of steps 606a, 606e, 606g, and 606h in that order, and a change request value is determined so as to increase the engine rotation speed by 600 rpm.

[0043] 9 is a diagram showing the change in the meter 408 when the engine control unit 607 increases the engine rotation speed by 600 rpm in accordance with this change request value. As in the example described above, if the engine rotation speed before the change is 1100 rpm, after the change the engine rotation speed increases to 1700 rpm, and 12 segments (50 rpm / segment) change to the active color as shown in (B) of FIG. 9 compared to (A).

[0044] Note that meter 408 may not only simultaneously reflect the change in engine rotation speed as shown in (A) to (B) of Figure 9, but may also sequentially reflect the amount of change for each step of dial operation, thereby clearly indicating the amount of change in engine rotation speed corresponding to the dial operation.

[0045] Furthermore, as in the above-mentioned specifications, the engine rotation speed may be divided into 200 rpm intervals, and if the current engine rotation speed does not fall within the intervals, the input dial operation that corresponds to the first step may be processed to increase the engine rotation speed from the current engine rotation speed to the nearest interval.

[0046] At this time, assuming that the engine control dial 9 is rotated clockwise 301 by three steps, the current engine rotation speed is acquired and a change request value is calculated in step 606h of the change request value calculation unit 606. If the current engine rotation speed is 1100 rpm, the nearest division is 1200 rpm, so in the first step of the three-step dial operation, a change request value (increase of 100 rpm) is determined to increase the engine rotation speed to 1200 rpm.

[0047] For the remaining two steps, the engine speed is increased by 200 rpm per step according to the specified process, and a change request value is determined to increase the engine speed by a total of 400 rpm. Therefore, the change request value calculation unit 606 outputs a change request value to increase the engine speed by a total of 500 rpm. Figure 10 shows the changes in the meter 408 when these processes are performed. Figure 10B shows the engine speed increasing to 1200 rpm as a result of the first step (two segments change to an active color compared to (A)), while Figure 10C shows the engine speed increasing to 1600 rpm as a result of the remaining two steps (eight more segments change to an active color compared to (B)). While Figure 10B is provided here for illustrative purposes, the transition from Figure 10A to Figure 10C may occur without passing through Figure 10B.

[0048] In this way, by changing the engine rotation speed in accordance with the divisions of the engine rotation speed, the operator can easily intuitively understand the current engine rotation speed.

[0049] As in the process described above, when the hydraulic excavator 1 is in an operable state, even in cases where the rotation speed is increased from the minimum rotation speed (800 rpm) to the maximum rotation speed (2000 rpm), it is sufficient to rotate the engine control dial 9 a maximum of six steps, so that even if a large increase or decrease in engine rotation speed is required instantaneously during work, the engine rotation speed can be changed quickly.

[0050] Furthermore, if the shut-off lever 11 is in a locked state and the hydraulic excavator 1 is in an inoperable state, the change request value calculation unit 606 determines to proceed from step 606e to step 606f.

[0051] Then, in step 606f, the process proceeds to step 606c or step 606d depending on the rotation direction of the dial operation, and a requested change value is determined. The requested change value is changed by 50 rpm per step, similar to the change in engine rotation speed due to tap operation. That is, in this embodiment, when the hydraulic excavator 1 is in an inoperable state, the minimum requested change value per step due to dial operation (initial change unit) is made to match the minimum requested change value per tap (minimum change unit) (50 rpm) due to tap operation.

[0052] In situations where there is no need to instantaneously increase or decrease the engine rotation speed significantly, such as when the work machine is in an inoperable state, the amount of change in engine rotation speed per step (smallest unit of change) is made smaller than when the work machine is in an operable state (in this embodiment, it is made to match the amount of change in engine rotation speed per tap (smallest unit of change)), thereby enabling fine adjustment of the engine rotation speed.

[0053] In this embodiment, the engine control dial 9 is located closer to the operating lever 8b than the touch monitor 10. Therefore, when the work machine is in an inoperable state, the operator can make fine adjustments to the engine rotation speed with the engine control dial 9 without having to reach out to the touch monitor 10, thereby enabling work to be carried out more efficiently.

[0054] As described above, in this embodiment, two engine rotation speed setting devices (indicating devices) are provided, namely, the engine control dial 9 and the touch monitor 10, and by providing a difference in the minimum amount of change in engine rotation speed that can be set from each setting device (indicating device), it is possible to achieve both large increases and decreases in engine rotation speed and ease of fine adjustment, thereby improving work efficiency.

[0055] [Summary] As explained above, the work machine (hydraulic excavator 1) of this embodiment is a work machine equipped with a power unit (engine 4) that drives rotation, a work implement (front work implement 1A, etc.) that operates using the power unit as a power source, and an indicator that gives instructions to increase and decrease the rotational speed of the power unit, the indicator having a first indicator (engine control dial 9) and a second indicator (touch buttons 409, 410 on touch monitor 10), and the smallest increment of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the first indicator (200 rpm) is different from the smallest increment of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the second indicator (50 rpm).

[0056] Furthermore, the smallest increment of change in the rotational speed of the power unit (200 rpm) that can be instructed by the first indicating device is larger than the smallest increment of change in the rotational speed of the power unit (50 rpm) that can be instructed by the second indicating device, and the first indicating device (engine control dial 9) is located closer to the operating devices (operating levers 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d) for operating the work implements (front work implement 1A, etc.) than the second indicating device (touch buttons 409, 410 of touch monitor 10).

[0057] The first indicating device (engine control dial 9) is a dial-type indicating device that can indicate the rotation speed of the power unit by rotating it, and the second indicating device (touch buttons 409, 410 of the touch monitor 10) is a touch-type indicating device that can indicate the rotation speed of the power unit by touching it.

[0058] Furthermore, when the work machine is in an inoperable state, the minimum unit of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the first indicating device is made to match the minimum unit of change in the rotational speed of the power unit that can be instructed by the second indicating device.

[0059] The operating device is disposed between the first instruction device (engine control dial 9) and the second instruction device (touch buttons 409, 410 of touch monitor 10).

[0060] The first instruction device (engine control dial 9) is disposed on the rear side of the operating device, and the second instruction device (touch buttons 409, 410 of the touch monitor 10) is disposed on the front side of the operating device.

[0061] The work machine (hydraulic excavator 1) according to this embodiment is equipped with a first indicating device and a second indicating device for indicating the rotational speed of the power unit (engine 4), and by setting the minimum amount of change in rotational speed for each indicating device to a different value, it is possible to operate the indicating device appropriately for making a large increase or decrease in the rotational speed of the power unit and for making fine adjustments, and to efficiently set the target rotational speed.

[0062] Furthermore, by positioning the first indicating device, which has a larger minimum change amount, closer to the operating device than the second indicating device, the rotational speed of the power unit can be quickly set even if a large increase or decrease in the rotational speed of the power unit is required in an instant while operating the work machine.

[0063] Furthermore, by making the first and second indicating devices indicating devices with different input formats, and further making the first indicating device, which has a large minimum amount of change, a dial-type indicating device that can be rotated, it is possible to quickly and without hesitation set the rotation speed of the power unit even when it becomes necessary to suddenly significantly increase or decrease the rotation speed of the power unit.

[0064] Furthermore, when the work machine is in an inoperable state, by reducing the minimum amount of change in rotational speed in the first indicator device, it becomes possible to change the rotational speed of the power unit, including making fine adjustments, using only the first indicator device during non-working hours when it is unlikely that the rotational speed of the power unit will be increased or decreased instantaneously, thereby enabling work to be carried out more efficiently.

[0065] As described above, according to this embodiment, by achieving both large increases and decreases in the rotation speed of the power unit and ease of fine adjustment, it is possible to easily set the rotation speed of the power unit to be suitable for the work, thereby improving work efficiency.

[0066] The components of the control device 7, as well as their functions and execution processes, may be partially or entirely implemented by hardware (e.g., by designing logic for executing each function using an integrated circuit). The components of the control device 7 may also be implemented as a program (software) that is read and executed by an arithmetic processing device (e.g., a CPU) to implement each function of the control device. Information related to the program may be stored in, for example, a semiconductor memory (flash memory, SSD, etc.), a magnetic storage device (hard disk drive, etc.), or a recording medium (magnetic disk, optical disk, etc.).

[0067] In addition, in the above description of the embodiment, the control lines and information lines are those that are considered necessary for the description of the embodiment, but they do not necessarily represent all the control lines and information lines related to the product. In reality, it can be considered that almost all components are interconnected.
