Abstract
Description
Textiles and protective clothing
[0001] The present invention relates to a fabric containing flame-retardant fibers, which not only has flame retardancy but also effectively forms a heat-blocking air layer and has excellent washing durability and abrasion resistance, and to protective clothing.
[0002] The fabrics used to make heat-resistant protective clothing worn by firefighters during firefighting operations are often flame-retardant organic fibers such as aramid fiber, polyphenylene sulfide fiber, polyimide fiber, and polybenzimidazole fiber, which are surface-treated with metal aluminum or the like by coating or vapor deposition to prevent radiant heat. In addition to providing heat resistance, measures such as using ice packs in the inner layer or ensuring breathability through stitching have recently been adopted to prevent heatstroke and other conditions caused by heat stress during summer work. Furthermore, Patent Document 1, for example, proposes a heat-resistant fire-resistant clothing with high heat insulation and lightweight properties. However, the washing durability and abrasion resistance of the heat-shielding layer of such heat-resistant protective clothing have yet to be fully satisfied.
[0003] JP 2010-255129 A

[0005] The present inventors have conducted extensive research to achieve the above object, and have found that by using flame-retardant fibers with a high tensile modulus in a woven fabric containing flame-retardant fibers, it is possible to obtain a woven fabric that not only has flame retardancy but also effectively forms a heat-blocking air layer and is excellent in washing durability and abrasion resistance. Further extensive research has led to the completion of the present invention. Thus, the following invention is provided: 1. Note that when abrasion resistance is not required, the following invention is preferably provided.12. A woven fabric containing yarns in at least one of the warp and weft directions that contain 10% or more flame-retardant fibers with a tensile modulus of 100 cN / dtex or more by weight, and 3 g / cm as specified in JIS L 1096. 2 A woven fabric characterized in that the initial thickness under load is 2.0 mm or more, and the change in thickness after five washes based on 6N-F of ISO 6330:2012 is within ±15%.
[0006] According to the present invention, a woven fabric containing flame-retardant fibers is obtained, which not only has flame retardancy but also effectively forms a heat-blocking air layer and has excellent washing durability and abrasion resistance, and a protective garment.
[0007] FIG. 1 is a diagram of the structure used in Example 1.
[0008] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail. First, in the present invention, it is important that the flame-retardant fiber has a tensile modulus of 100 cN / dtex or more (preferably 400 to 900 cN / dtex). By including yarns containing such flame-retardant fibers in an amount of 10% or more (more preferably 10 to 100%) by weight relative to the yarn weight in at least one of the warp and weft directions (preferably the warp and weft directions), the fabric can maintain its thickness without being crushed even under a constant load. In addition, washing durability is improved, and the thickness can be maintained even after washing.
[0009] Here, the flame-retardant fiber preferably has a limiting oxygen index of 25 or more as measured according to JIS K7201, and specifically, a copolymerized para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber or a para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber is preferred.
[0010] The yarn may further contain at least one fiber selected from Group A consisting of meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber (meta-aramid fiber), flame-retardant rayon fiber, modacrylic fiber, flame-retardant acrylic fiber, flame-retardant vinylon fiber, polybenzoxazole fiber, polybenzimidazole fiber, melamine fiber, polyimide fiber, and polyimideamide fiber.
[0011] In particular, to further improve abrasion resistance and flame retardancy, the yarn preferably contains meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers that do not contain a flame retardant. Furthermore, it is preferable that the amount of pigment added to each fiber constituting the yarn is 5% by weight or less. This improves abrasion resistance.
[0012] Furthermore, it is preferable that the yarn is a multilayer spun yarn, the core component is a copolymerized para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber, and the sheath component is a flame retardant-free meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber. In this case, the core component may be a stretch-broken spun copolymerized para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber.
[0013] The convex portions are bulges formed by thermal shrinkage of the high shrinkage fibers in the warp or weft direction due to the thermal history during processing, which is achieved by alternately arranging high shrinkage fibers and low shrinkage fibers in the warp or weft direction of the fabric.
[0014] The woven fabric of the present invention may further contain at least one of Group B consisting of polyester fibers, nylon fibers, acrylic fibers, and natural fibers. In particular, by using a high-shrinkage polyester fiber (preferably having a boiling water shrinkage rate of 10 to 60%) as described in Japanese Patent No. 6037837, it is possible to form convex portions on the woven fabric.
[0015] The weight ratio of the fibers of Group B, such as polyester fibers, contained in the woven fabric is preferably within the range of 5 to 40% by weight relative to the weight of the woven fabric. If the weight ratio of the fibers of Group B is less than 5%, sufficient convex portions will not be formed, and in the radiant heat resistance test specified in ISO 6942, the time it takes for the sensor temperature to rise by 24°C (RHTI24) may not be 18 seconds or more. On the other hand, if the weight ratio of the fibers of Group B is more than 40%, there is a risk of afterflame or melting during the test according to JIS L1091 A-4 method or JIS L1091 A-1 method.
[0016] In the woven fabric of the present invention, the single fiber fineness of the fibers constituting the woven fabric is preferably 3.0 dtex or less (more preferably 0.1 to 3.0 dtex). When producing a spun yarn, if the single fiber fineness is greater than 3.0 dtex, the number of fibers constituting the spun yarn will be small, and the spun yarn may not exhibit sufficient tensile strength. Furthermore, the cotton count of the single yarn of the spun yarn is preferably 10 to 60, and more preferably 20 to 50.
[0017] The woven fabric of the present invention can be produced, for example, by the following method. First, the flame-retardant fiber and, if necessary, a fiber of group A are spun by a known method to obtain yarn 1. Then, the flame-retardant fiber and, if necessary, a fiber of group A are further spun by a known method to obtain a spun yarn, which is then doubling with a high-shrinkage yarn such as a polyester fiber and twisted to obtain yarn 2 (composite yarn).
[0018] In this case, the weight ratio of the polyester fiber is preferably 50 to 90% by weight (more preferably 70 to 90% by weight, and even more preferably 75 to 90% by weight) relative to the weight of the composite yarn. If the weight ratio of the polyester fiber is less than 50%, there is a risk of afterflame being observed or melting during testing according to JIS L1091 A-4 or JIS L 1091A-1. On the other hand, if the weight ratio of the polyester fiber exceeds 90%, the coverage is too high and thickness is not achieved, and in the radiant heat resistance test specified in ISO 6942, there is a risk that RHTI24, the time it takes for the sensor temperature to rise by 24°C, will not be 18 seconds or more.
[0019] Next, using a shuttle loom, a rapier loom, an air jet loom, or the like, a double woven fabric is woven according to the weaving structure diagram shown in Figure 1, for example, with yarn 1 and yarn 2 alternately arranged as warp yarns and yarn 1 arranged as weft yarns, and when yarn 2 is shrunk by heat setting, convex portions made of yarn 1 appear.
[0020] The thus obtained woven fabric had a density of 3 g / cm as specified in JIS L1096 8.4. 2 It is important that the initial thickness under load is 2.0 mm or more (more preferably 2.0 to 6.0 mm, particularly preferably 2.0 to 5.0 mm). If the thickness is less than 2.0 mm, there is a risk that heat cannot be effectively blocked.
[0021] It is also important that the change in thickness after five washes based on ISO 6330:2012 6N-F is within ±25% (more preferably within ±10%). By suppressing the decrease in thickness after washing, the heat-shielding properties of the fire-resistant clothing can be maintained. Furthermore, by suppressing the increase in thickness after washing, the comfort of the wearer can be maintained. Furthermore, in order to maintain sufficient heat-shielding properties even after washing, it is preferable that the thickness after washing is 2.0 mm or more. Furthermore, in order to maintain the comfort of the wearer, the fabric weight is 170 g / m 2 or less (more preferably 100 to 150 g / m 2 ) is preferred.
[0022] The woven fabric of the present invention, having the above-described structure, is not only flame-retardant, but also effectively forms a thermal barrier air layer and exhibits excellent washing durability and abrasion resistance. It is important that the abrasion resistance based on ISO 12947-2 is 15,000 cycles or more. To achieve such abrasion resistance, for example, a flame-retardant-free meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber may be added to the yarn containing 10% or more by weight of a flame-retardant fiber having a tensile modulus of 100 cN / dtex or more.
[0023] Next, the protective clothing of the present invention includes such a woven fabric. In this case, it has a structure in which three layers, a surface layer, an intermediate layer, and a heat-shielding layer, are stacked in this order from the outside air side, and of these layers, it is preferable that the heat-shielding layer is made of the woven fabric. Furthermore, it is preferable that the surface layer and the intermediate layer are also made of the flame-retardant fiber and, if necessary, further made of fibers of Group A.
[0024] First, the surface layer will be described. The surface layer is preferably made of meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber and para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber. As the type of fabric, woven or knitted fabric or nonwoven fabric is used, with woven fabric being preferred from a practical viewpoint of strength. The meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber and the para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber can be used in the form of filaments, blended yarns, spun yarns, etc., but blending and use in the form of spun yarns is preferred. The mixing ratio of the para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber is preferably 1 to 70 wt % based on the total weight of fibers constituting the surface layer. If the mixing ratio of the para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber is less than 1 wt %, the fabric may be destroyed and holes may be formed when exposed to flames. If the mixing ratio exceeds 70 wt %, the para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber may be fibrillated, resulting in reduced abrasion resistance. In particular, a woven fabric made of spun yarns composed of meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers and para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers in a weight ratio (meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers:para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers) of 95:5 to 85:15 is preferred. 2 The outer layer may be single-ply or double-ply. In order to obtain protective clothing with higher water resistance and chemical resistance, it is preferable to apply a fluorine-based or non-fluorine-based (silicone-based or hydrocarbon-based) water-repellent resin to the outer layer by a processing method such as coating, spraying, or dipping.
[0025] The intermediate layer is preferably moisture-permeable and waterproof, and is most preferably a woven fabric made of meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers and / or para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers, laminated with a moisture-permeable and waterproof thin film. A particularly preferred intermediate layer is a woven fabric made of spun yarns composed of meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers and para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers in a weight ratio (meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers:para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fibers) of 95:5 to 85:15, laminated with a moisture-permeable and waterproof thin film made of polytetrafluoroethylene or the like. In this case, the basis weight of the woven fabric is 30 to 90 g / m. 2It is preferable that the thickness of the intermediate layer is within the range of 100 μm to 150 μm. The insertion of such an intermediate layer improves moisture permeability, waterproofness, and chemical resistance, and promotes evaporation of sweat from the wearer, thereby reducing heat stress on the wearer. The fibers constituting the intermediate layer may be spun yarn or filament, and may be in the form of woven fabric, knitted fabric, or nonwoven fabric.
[0026] Such protective clothing is not only flame-retardant but also capable of effectively forming a thermal barrier air layer. In this case, in a test specified in ISO 6942 after about five washes based on ISO 6330 6N-F, the time it takes for the sensor temperature to rise by 24°C (RHTI24) is preferably 18 seconds or more, more preferably 20 seconds or more. In a test specified in ISO 9151, the time it takes for the sensor temperature to rise by 24°C (HTI) is preferably 13 seconds or more, more preferably 15 seconds or more.
[0027] In the present invention, when abrasion resistance is not required, the following woven fabric is preferred: That is, a woven fabric containing, in at least one of the warp and weft directions, yarns containing 10% or more by weight of flame-retardant fibers with a tensile modulus of 100 cN / dtex or more, and a tensile modulus of 3 g / cm 3 specified in JIS L 1096. 2 The woven fabric is characterized by having an initial thickness under load of 2.0 mm or more, and a thickness change rate after five washes based on ISO 6330:2012 6N-F of within ±15%.
[0028] The woven fabric of the present invention can be suitably used not only for protective clothing but also for textile products such as fire-resistant clothing for firefighters, clothing for firefighting activities, rescue clothing, workwear, police uniforms, clothing for the Self-Defense Forces, and military uniforms.
[0029] Examples and comparative examples of the present invention will be described in detail below, but the present invention is not limited to these. (1) Tensile modulus: Measured according to JIS L 1015. (2) Thickness: 3 g / cm according to JIS L 1096 8.4. 2The thickness of the heat-shielding layer was measured before processing and before and after washing under a load of 10 ... (6) Heat Shielding Property (Flame Resistance) For a protective suit having three layers, a surface layer, an intermediate layer, and a heat shielding layer, the time it takes for a copper sensor to rise by 24°C from the start of convective heat exposure, HTI24, was determined based on ISO 9151: 2016. (7) Fabric Weight: Measured according to JIS L1096 8.3.
[0030] [Example 1] The surface layer was made of a plain-woven fabric (basis weight: 240 g / m²) using spun yarn (count: 20 / 2) made by blending a flame-retardant-containing meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber (manufactured by Teijin Limited, trademark name: Conex, tensile modulus: 53 cN / dtex) and a copolymerized para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber (manufactured by Teijin Limited, trademark name: Technora, tensile modulus: 530 cN / dtex) in a blend ratio of 90:10. 2 ) was used.
[0031] The intermediate layer is a plain-woven fabric (basis weight: 65 g / m²) made from a spun yarn (count: 40 / -) in which a flame-retardant-containing meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber (manufactured by Teijin Limited, trademark name: Conex, tensile modulus: 53 cN / dtex) and a copolymerized para-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber (manufactured by Teijin Limited, trademark name: Technora, tensile modulus: 530 cN / dtex) are mixed in a blend ratio of 95:5. 2 ) laminated with a commercially available moisture-permeable and waterproof film made of polytetrafluoroethylene.

The fabric was then desized at 80°C for 1 minute and finally set at 180°C for 1 minute, causing the polyester fiber yarn to heat shrink, resulting in a double-layered fabric with warp projections on the back surface of the fabric. The evaluation results for the protective clothing, which had the above-mentioned three layers stacked together, namely, the outer layer, the middle layer, and the heat-shielding layer, are shown in Table 1.
