[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0133757, filed on October 6, 2023, and Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0133758, filed on October 6, 2023, and refiled Korean Patent Application No. 10-2024-0133295, filed on September 30, 2024, and refiled Korean Patent Application No. 10-2024-0133298, filed on September 30, 2024, which are each incorporated herein by reference. The entire disclosure of the relevant Korean patent applications is hereby incorporated by reference herein.
[0003] The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin composition, a method for producing the same, and a molded article comprising the same, wherein the thermoplastic resin composition is excellent in mechanical properties, film processability, appearance characteristics such as gloss and whiteness, weather resistance, and heat stability, and further has an environmentally friendly advantage by preventing deterioration of properties even when a recycled resin is included, and wherein the thermoplastic resin composition is excellent in mechanical properties, film processability, low-light characteristics, weather resistance, and heat stability, a method for producing the same, and a molded article comprising the same.
[0004] ABS resins, represented by acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resins, have been used in various fields due to their excellent molding processability, mechanical properties, and appearance characteristics. However, because they are based on conjugated diene rubbers with chemically unstable unsaturated bonds, they have problems with poor weather resistance, such as easy aging due to exposure to ultraviolet rays. Therefore, ASA resins, represented by acrylate compound-styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers, have been proposed as a material that can replace ABS resins.
[0005] ASA resins have excellent weather resistance, heat stability, aging resistance, and chemical resistance, as well as moldability, rigidity, and impact resistance, and are widely used in various fields regardless of indoor / outdoor use, such as electrical and electronic components, construction materials, automobile interior and exterior materials, ships, and leisure goods.
[0006] The above ASA resin is based on acrylate rubber and provides impact resistance, and is mainly consumed by blending with hard resins, and a representative example of hard resins is styrene-acrylonitrile resin.
[0007] Meanwhile, polyester resins, such as polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate, boast outstanding mechanical, electrical, and other physical and chemical properties, making them widely used in automotive components, electrical and electronic devices, and office equipment. Their utility is particularly increasing in the automotive component sector, where lightweight materials are becoming increasingly common and advanced technologies, such as electric vehicles and autonomous driving, are advancing rapidly.
[0008] However, although it is expected that blending the above ASA resin and polyester resin will provide a very useful material, in reality, there is a problem that the ASA resin and polyester resin do not have good compatibility with each other, and thus the properties that are expressed are not up to expectations.
[0009] Meanwhile, while plastics are consumed in significant quantities in modern society due to their convenience, they do not decompose naturally, which has led to a growing demand for waste disposal and utilization methods. Furthermore, environmental regulations are mandating the use of recycled resins. However, recycled resins age due to physical and chemical factors such as impact, wear, heat, UV, moisture, and exposure to high and low temperatures during the manufacturing, consumption, and disposal processes. Furthermore, they are susceptible to contamination from foreign substances, resulting in significantly lower moldability, mechanical strength, appearance quality, flexibility, chemical resistance, and thermal stability compared to newly polymerized virgin resins.
[0010] Therefore, there is a need to develop a thermoplastic resin composition that contains ASA resin and polyester resin, yet has excellent compatibility and exhibits expected properties, and also has properties that can be applied to existing plastic material fields even when containing a certain level of recycled resin.

[0085] In this description, the average particle size of the rubber is not particularly limited when measured by a measurement method commonly used in the technical field to which the present invention pertains, including an electron microscope measurement method using SEM, TEM, etc., or a dynamic light scattering method, etc. For example, the measurement can be performed by sampling at the time when the rubber is completed and using the dynamic light scattering method, and specifically, the measurement is performed as an intensity value in Gaussian mode using a particle measuring device (product name: Nicomp 380, manufacturer: PSS). At this time, as a specific measurement example, the sample is prepared by diluting 0.1 g of latex (total solid content TSC 35-50 wt%) 1,000 to 5,000 times with deionized water or distilled water, that is, diluting it appropriately so as not to greatly exceed the Intensity Setpoint 300 kHz, placing it in a glass tube, and measuring it using an auto-dilution flow cell. The measurement mode is dynamic light scattering / Intensity 300 kHz / Intensity-weight Gaussian Analysis, and the setting values are a temperature of 23°C and a measurement wavelength of 632.8 nm.
[0086] In this description, the average particle diameter may preferably be an average particle diameter based on the dynamic light scattering method.
[0087]
[0088] In this description, unless otherwise defined, the weight average molecular weight can be measured using GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography, waters breeze), and as a specific example, it can be measured as a relative value to a standard PS (standard polystyrene) sample through GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography, waters breeze) using THF (tetrahydrofuran) as an eluent. At this time, as a specific measurement example, solvent: THF, column temperature: 40℃, flow rate: 0.3ml / min, sample concentration: 20mg / ml, injection volume: 5㎕, column model: 1xPLgel 10㎛ MiniMix-B(250x4.6mm) + 1xPLgel 10㎛ MiniMix-B(250x4.6mm) + 1xPLgel 10㎛ MiniMix-B Guard(50x4.6mm), equipment name: Agilent 1200 series system, refractive index detector: Agilent G1362 RID, RI temperature: 35℃, data processing: Agilent ChemStation S / W, test method (Mn, Mw and PDI): OECD TG 118 conditions can be measured.
[0089] In the present invention, the copolymer grafted onto the rubber, i.e., the core, i.e., the shell, can be separated from the rubber (core) by a separation method commonly used in the technical field to which the present invention pertains for measuring the weight average molecular weight. For example, a sol from which insoluble matter (gel) is separated by a method described in the graft ratio measurement method described below is dissolved in a THF solvent to prepare a solution, and the filtrate obtained by filtering this can be used as a sample for measuring the weight average molecular weight.
[0090]
[0091] The grafting ratio of this invention can be obtained by, as a specific measurement example, adding 30 g of acetone to 0.5 g of graft copolymer powder, stirring at 210 rpm for 12 hours at room temperature (SKC-6075, Lab companion), centrifuging at 18,000 rpm at 0°C for 3 hours using a centrifuge (Supra R30, Hanil Science), collecting only the insoluble matter (gel) that is not dissolved in acetone, and then drying at 85°C for 12 hours using a forced circulation method (OF-12GW, Lab companion), and measuring the weight, and calculating using the following mathematical formula 1.
[0092] [Mathematical Formula 1]
[0093] Grafting ratio (%) = [Weight of grafted monomer (g) / Weight of rubber (g)] * 100
[0094] In the above mathematical expression 1, the weight (g) of the grafted monomer is the weight (g) of the insoluble matter obtained after dissolving the graft copolymer in acetone and centrifuging it, minus the rubber weight (g), and the rubber weight (g) is the weight (g) of the rubber component theoretically added in the graft copolymer powder.

[0231]
[0232] thermoplastic resin composition
[0233] The thermoplastic resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a base resin comprising 15 to 50 wt% of the (A) graft copolymer, 20 to 55 wt% of the (B) copolymer, and 10 to 40 wt% of the (C) polyalkylene terephthalate; and 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a compatibilizer; and has the advantage of excellent injection gloss, whiteness, film processability, weather resistance, and heat stability while maintaining the mechanical properties inherent to ASA resins and polyester resins at a level equivalent to or higher, and further has the advantage of being environmentally friendly because property degradation is prevented even when a recycled resin is included, and has the advantage of excellent film processability, extrusion low-light characteristics, weather resistance, and heat stability.
[0234]
[0235] The thermoplastic resin composition may have, for example, a weight ratio (A:C) of the (A) graft copolymer and (C) polyalkylene terephthalate of 0.5 to 2.0:1, preferably 0.5 to 1.8:1, more preferably 0.6 to 1.5:1, and even more preferably 0.7 to 1.3:1, in which case it has the advantages of excellent impact resistance, film processability, gloss, and whiteness, and further, when it includes a recycled resin, it has the advantage of being environmentally friendly, while also having the advantages of excellent low-light properties, film processability, and impact resistance.
[0236]
[0237] The thermoplastic resin composition above contains acrylate rubber as a rubber component, but does not contain conjugated diene rubber, so it has excellent weather resistance, and thus has an excellent effect of maintaining properties for a long period of time even when exposed to an environment that causes aging, such as heat or ultraviolet rays. In addition, it has the advantage of excellent film processability and heat stability even though it contains ASA resin and polyester resin, which have low compatibility with each other.
[0238]
[0239] The thermoplastic resin composition may have an injection gloss of, for example, 108 or more, preferably 108 to 130, more preferably 108 to 125, and even more preferably 109 to 120, as measured at 45° according to ASTM D2457 using an injection molded specimen having a thickness of 3 mm. In this case, there is an advantage of superior gloss without deterioration of other physical properties. Here, the unit of gloss may be GU (gloss unit).
[0240] The thermoplastic resin composition may be a high-gloss resin composition including, for example, (C) polyalkylene terephthalate, a non-recycled polyalkylene terephthalate, and having an injection gloss of 108 or more. In this case, in addition to excellent gloss, it has the advantage of being able to provide a high-quality, high-gloss injection-molded product with excellent film processability, impact resistance, weather resistance, and thermal stability.
[0241]
[0242] The thermoplastic resin composition may have an extrusion gloss of, for example, less than 50, measured at 45° according to ASTM D2457 on an extruded film specimen having a thickness of 0.08 mm, preferably 20 to 47, more preferably 22 to 45, even more preferably 23 to 42, and even more preferably 25 to 40, and in this case, it has the advantage of excellent low-light characteristics without deterioration of other physical properties.
[0243] The thermoplastic resin composition may be a low-gloss resin composition including, for example, (C) a recycled polyalkylene terephthalate, and having an extrusion gloss of less than 50. In this case, in addition to the environmentally friendly advantage and low-gloss properties, it has the advantage of being able to provide a high-quality, environmentally friendly, low-gloss film with excellent film processability, impact resistance, weather resistance, and thermal stability.
[0244]
[0245] The thermoplastic resin composition has, for example, excellent film processability, low torque applied to the extruder during the film extrusion process, and thus excellent film thickness uniformity and even glossiness are realized over the entire film, resulting in excellent film appearance quality.
[0246] In this description, the torque refers to the magnitude of the output required to rotate the screw at a set rotation speed during the process of extruding the molten mixture or pellets of the thermoplastic resin composition with a film extruder, and this can be measured by a sensor built into the extruder. During the film extrusion process, when the molding conditions such as the molding temperature, screw rotation speed (rpm), and composition feed rate are the same, the higher the torque value means the greater the load applied to the extruder, which means that the flowability of the composition, i.e., the molding processability, is poor. Therefore, when the molding conditions are the same, the higher the torque value may be, the lower the thickness uniformity of the film may be. Conversely, the lower the torque value means the lower the load applied to the extruder, which means that the flowability of the composition is excellent, and in this case, there is an advantage of excellent film processability and excellent thickness uniformity of the film.
[0247] In this paper, the torque is measured as an example, using a T-die extruder (Techline 20T, Collins, screw diameter 20 nm, L / D = 25) at a molding temperature of 250°C and a molding pressure of 200 kgf / cm. 2 , can be measured under extrusion molding conditions of a film thickness of 0.08 mm under the conditions of a screw rotation speed of 100 rpm, a roll temperature of 85°C, and a roll rotation speed of 3.5 m / min, and can be expressed as a ratio (%) to the maximum torque value (output limit) at which the extruder can operate. The ratio to the maximum torque value at which the extruder can operate can be expressed as a value measured by a sensor built into the extruder and displayed on the torque display unit.
[0248]

In addition, even when a recycled resin is included, deterioration of properties is prevented, so that it has an environmentally friendly advantage, and at the same time, film processability and low-light characteristics are both excellent.

In this case, there is an advantage in that the processing amount per unit time is appropriate, melt mixing is sufficiently achieved, and thermal decomposition, etc., are suppressed.

[0327] Examples 1-1 to 1-7, 2-1 to 2-9, and Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-11, 2-1 to 2-12
[0328] The above (A) to (D) were mixed using a super mixer in the contents shown in Tables 1 and 3 below and extruded using a twin-screw extruder (screw diameter 26 mm, L / D=40) under extrusion conditions of a cylinder temperature of 230°C and a screw rotation speed of 200 rpm to produce pellets.
[0329] The thermoplastic resin composition in the form of pellets was dried at 100°C for 2 hours or more, and then injection-molded in an injection molding machine under the conditions of an injection molding machine barrel temperature of 260°C, a mold temperature of 60°C, and an injection speed of 30 mm / sec to produce a specimen for measuring physical properties. [0331]
[0332] [Example Exam]
[0333] The physical properties of the specimens manufactured in the above examples and comparative examples were measured by the following methods, and the results are shown in Tables 2 and 4 below.
[0334]
[0335] * Injection gloss (gloss unit; GU): Gloss was measured using a gloss meter VG7000 at 45° on an injection specimen with a thickness of 3 mm according to ASTM D2457.
[0336] * Whiteness (L value): Based on the CIE1976 L*a*b* colorimetric system, the L value was measured at Degree Observer 10° under a UV D65 light source using a colorimeter (model name X-lite Color Eye 7000A) with a 3 mm thick injection molded specimen, and the L value was measured in Reflectance Mode according to the Munsell System and CIE Lab method.
[0337] * Extruded film gloss (gloss unit; GU): Gloss was measured using a gloss meter VG7000 at 45° on an extruded film specimen with a thickness of 0.08 mm according to ASTM D2457.
[0338] * 1 / 8" Izod impact strength (kgf·cm / cm): Measured at room temperature with 1 / 8" thick injection-molded specimens according to ASTM D256.
[0339] * 1 / 4" Izod impact strength (kgf·cm / cm): Measured at room temperature with 1 / 4" thick injection-molded specimens according to ASTM D256.
[0340] * Processability (%): Molding temperature 250℃, molding pressure 200 kgf / cm using a T-die extruder (Techline 20T, Collins, screw diameter 20 nm, L / D = 25) 2 , in the process of extrusion molding with a film thickness of 0.08 mm under the conditions of a screw rotation speed of 100 rpm, a roll temperature of 85°C, and a roll rotation speed of 3.5 m / min, the torque value applied to the motor connected to the screw to rotate the screw at the set rotation speed was expressed as a ratio to the maximum torque value of the extruder. A lower torque value means better processability.
[0341] * Weatherability (ΔE): For injection molded specimens with a thickness of 3 mm, accelerated weatherability test equipment (weather-o-meter, ATLAS Ci4000, xenon arc lamp, Quartz (inner) / S.Boro (outer) filter, irradiance 0.55 W / m 2At 340 nm), after 2,000 hours of measurement under the applied SAE J1960 conditions, ΔE was evaluated by calculating with the following mathematical formula 2. The ΔE below is the arithmetic mean of the Hunter Lab (L, a, b) values measured before and after the accelerated weathering test, and the closer the ΔE value is to 0, the better the weathering resistance is. The Hunter Lab (L, a, b) values were measured using a color meter (X-lite Color-eye 7000A) according to the CIE1976 L*a*b* colorimetric system.
[0342] [Equation 2]
[0343] ΔE= √{(L-L') 2 + (a-a') 2 + (b-b') 2} (√: radical symbol)
[0344] * Thermal stability: During the injection molding process of the property evaluation specimen, the Hunter Lab (L, a, b) values were measured for the specimens injected with an additional 5 minutes of residence time in the cylinder at a cylinder temperature of 260°C of the injection molding machine and for the specimens without an additional 5-minute residence time, and the color values measured before and after the additional 5-minute residence time at 260°C were substituted into the following mathematical formula 3 to calculate the ΔE value. The closer the ΔE value is to 0, the better the thermal stability is.
[0345] [Equation 3]
[0346] Before and after stay ΔE= √{(L-L') 2 + (a-a') 2 + (b-b') 2} (√: radical symbol)

[0352] Referring to Tables 1 and 2 above, in the case of Examples 1-1 to 1-7 according to the present invention, when non-recycled PET was applied as (C) polyalkylene terephthalate, the injection gloss was excellent with a gloss of 110 or higher, the whiteness L value was excellent with a whiteness of 90.0 or higher, the impact strength was excellent with a impact resistance of 9.6 kgf·cm / cm or higher, and the torque value was reduced by at least 29.2% or more compared to Comparative Example 1-1 in which PET and a compatibilizer were not mixed with the ASA / SAN alloy resin, confirming that the film processability was greatly improved. Furthermore, the ΔE value before and after the accelerated weathering test was 1.7 or lower, and the ΔE value before and after the additional residence at 260°C for 5 minutes was within a range of 3.4 or lower, confirming that the weathering resistance and heat stability were also excellent.
[0353] On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-11, which are outside the scope of the present invention, the gloss was found to be greatly reduced in all cases except for Comparative Example 1-8, and Comparative Example 1-8 showed significantly poor weather resistance and heat stability, and overall, the impact resistance, processability (torque), whiteness, weather resistance, and / or heat stability were found to be very poor, confirming that the mechanical properties, film processability, gloss, whiteness, weather resistance, and heat stability of the thermoplastic resin composition according to the present invention were excellent.
[0354]
[0355] Meanwhile, referring to Tables 3 and 4 above, in the case of Examples 2-1 to 2-9 according to the present invention, when recycled PET was applied as (C) polyalkylene terephthalate, the gloss of the extruded film was low gloss of 37 or less, and the impact strength was excellent impact resistance of 9.8 kgf·cm / cm or more, and the torque value was reduced by at least 27.1% compared to Comparative Example 2-1 in which recycled PET and compatibilizer were not mixed with ASA / SAN alloy resin, confirming that the film processability was greatly improved. Furthermore, the ΔE value before and after the accelerated weathering test was 2.0 or less, and the ΔE value measured before and after an additional residence time of 5 minutes at 260℃ was within the range of 3.8 or less, confirming that the weathering resistance and heat stability were also excellent.
[0356] On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Examples 2-1 to 2-12, which are outside the scope of the present invention, it was confirmed that the gloss was all excessively increased, and the impact resistance, processability (torque), weather resistance, and / or thermal stability were very poor. In particular, in the case of Comparative Example 2-8, it was confirmed that the processability and thermal stability were lowered compared to the examples, and the low-light characteristics were very poor, even though it did not include recycled PET.
[0357]
[0358] Therefore, it was confirmed that the thermoplastic resin composition according to the present invention can provide a high-quality thermoplastic resin molded product while maintaining the inherent mechanical properties of ASA resin and polyester resin at an equivalent or higher level, while also having excellent film processability, weather resistance, and thermal stability, and possessing both mechanical rigidity (impact resistance) and molding processability. In particular, it was confirmed that it has properties suitable for providing high-gloss injection molded products in various colors due to excellent injection gloss and whiteness when not containing recycled resin (recycled PET). In addition, it was confirmed that it has properties suitable for providing an environmentally friendly low-gloss extrusion film because it prevents deterioration of properties even when containing recycled resin (recycled PET) and has an environmentally friendly advantage with excellent low-gloss properties.
