Abstract
Description
Antenna and antenna assembly including the same
[0001] The present invention relates to an antenna and an antenna assembly including the same.
[0002] As vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communication services like CV2X (Cellular Vehicle to Everything communication) become commercialized, antennas to support these services in vehicles are being developed. Recently, demand is growing for antennas capable of supporting next-generation communication services, such as 5G and higher. Such antennas can be, for example, equipped with shark fin antennas for vehicles.
[0003] Automotive shark fin antennas are designed to receive 4G (LTE), eCall, ISM wireless communication bands, GPS / GNSS, and DMB / DBA / ISDB-T signals. However, because these shark fin antennas are manufactured to protrude from the vehicle's windshield, they can diminish the aesthetic appeal of the vehicle's exterior. To address this issue, active research is underway on transparent antennas to replace existing shark fin antennas.
[0004] A transparent antenna for a vehicle can be located either inside or outside the vehicle's glass. A transparent antenna located inside the glass is designed to be inserted between laminated glass. Additionally, a transparent antenna located outside the glass is designed to adhere to the inner surface of the glass or to all four sides of the laminated glass.
[0005] Meanwhile, in the case of conventional antennas that are inserted or attached to the inside or outside of glass, there is a problem in that the pattern and boundary of the antenna itself are exposed to the outside, which causes obstruction of the driver's view and reduction in the aesthetic elements of the vehicle.
[0006] Accordingly, the problem that the present invention seeks to solve is to provide an antenna that minimizes the pattern and boundary of the antenna itself from being exposed to the outside, thereby minimizing the obstruction of the driver's view and the reduction of the aesthetic elements of the vehicle.
[0007] According to one aspect of the present invention for achieving the above object, an antenna is provided that is placed in a close state by being in close contact with glass having a refractive index of 1.5 or more and 1.55 or less, the antenna including: a base layer; and a coating layer coated on the base layer so that at least a portion of the base layer is disposed between the base layer and the glass when in the close state, wherein the coating refractive index, which is a refractive index of the coating layer, is greater than or equal to one of the glass refractive index, which is a refractive index of the glass, and the base refractive index, which is a refractive index of the base layer, and is less than or equal to the other.
[0008] Additionally, an antenna may be provided in which the coating refractive index is greater than or equal to the glass refractive index and less than or equal to the base refractive index.
[0009] In addition, when the antenna and the glass are in a state of close contact, and the direction in which they face each other is referred to as a close contact direction, an antenna may be provided in which the coating layers are provided in multiple numbers, and the multiple coating layers include a first coating layer coated on one side of the base layer in the close contact direction; and a second coating layer coated on the other side of the base layer in the close contact direction.
[0010] Additionally, an antenna may be provided in which the hardness of the second coating layer is greater than the hardness of the first coating layer.
[0011] In addition, when the antenna and the glass are in a state of close contact, and the direction in which they face each other is called a close contact direction, an antenna may be provided in which the thickness of the coating layer in the close contact direction is smaller than the thickness of the base layer in the close contact direction.
[0012] Additionally, an antenna may be provided in which the coating layer includes a quencher.
[0013] In addition, an antenna may be provided that further includes a pattern forming layer that is disposed between the glass and the coating layer when in the above-described close state to form a pattern of the antenna, wherein the pattern forming layer further includes a plurality of pattern determining portions that determine the shape of the pattern; and a resin layer having a plurality of pattern grooves formed into which the plurality of pattern determining portions are inserted.
[0014] In addition, when the antenna and the glass are in a close contact state and the direction in which they face each other is called a close contact direction, an antenna may be provided in which each of the plurality of pattern determination parts includes an electrode layer; and a plurality of blackening layers arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the close contact direction with the electrode layer therebetween.
[0015] In addition, an antenna assembly may be provided, including glass; and an antenna in close contact with the glass, wherein the antenna includes a base layer; and a coating layer disposed between the base layer and the glass, and a coating refractive index, which is a refractive index of the coating layer, is greater than or equal to one of a glass refractive index, which is a refractive index of the glass, and a base refractive index, which is a refractive index of the base layer, and is less than or equal to the other.
[0016] In addition, when the direction in which the antenna and the glass face each other is referred to as a contact direction, the glass includes a first glass region that contacts one side of the antenna in the contact direction; and a second glass region that contacts the other side of the antenna in the contact direction, and an antenna assembly may be provided in which the first glass region and the second glass region are joined to each other along the contact direction with the antenna interposed therebetween based on the contact direction.
[0017] In addition, when the direction in which the antenna and the glass face each other is referred to as a close contact direction, an antenna assembly may be provided in which one side or the other side of the close contact direction of the antenna is close contact with the glass, and the other side is exposed to the outside of the antenna assembly.
[0018] The antenna according to the present invention has the effect of minimizing the pattern and boundary of the antenna itself from being exposed to the outside, thereby minimizing the obstruction of the driver's view and the reduction of the aesthetic elements of the vehicle.
[0019] In addition, the antenna according to the present invention has the effect of minimizing the refraction and reflection of light when attached or inserted into glass, thereby reducing visual noise to the driver and improving the performance of the antenna.
[0020] FIG. 1 is a front view of an antenna assembly according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0021] Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A' of Figure 1.
[0022] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of an antenna assembly according to another embodiment of the present invention.
[0023] Hereinafter, some embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to exemplary drawings. When designating components in each drawing, it should be noted that, where possible, identical components will be given the same reference numerals, even if they appear in different drawings. Furthermore, when describing embodiments of the present invention, detailed descriptions of related known structures or functions will be omitted if they are deemed to hinder understanding of the embodiments of the present invention.
[0024] Additionally, terms such as first, second, A, B, (a), (b), etc. may be used to describe components of embodiments of the present invention. These terms are only intended to distinguish the components from other components, and the nature, order, or sequence of the components are not limited by the terms. When a component is described as being "closely attached" to another component, it should be understood that the component may be directly attached to the other component, but another component may also be "closely attached" between the respective components.
[0025] Hereinafter, with reference to the drawings, an antenna assembly (10) according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described.
[0026] Referring to FIG. 1, an antenna assembly (10) may be installed in a vehicle, for example. As a detailed example, the antenna assembly (10) may be installed in the front or rear of the vehicle, and may be arranged to be fixed to the frame (F) of the vehicle. This antenna assembly (10) may include an antenna (100) and glass (200).
[0027] Referring further to FIG. 2, the antenna (100) may be adhered to the glass (200). For example, when a user looks at the antenna (100) adhered to the glass (200), the antenna (100) may be observed transparently. In other words, the antenna (100) may be provided to minimize visibility. Such an antenna (100) may be referred to as a 'transparent antenna'. For example, when a user looks at the antenna (100) adhered to the glass (200), the pattern and border of the antenna (100) may not be observed by the user. The user may include not only the driver of the vehicle in which the antenna assembly (10) is mounted, but also the driver of another vehicle located outside the vehicle. Such an antenna (100) may include a base layer (110), a coating layer (120), and a pattern forming layer (130).
[0028] The base layer (110) may be a base film of the antenna (100). The base layer (110) may have, for example, one or more materials selected from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyimide, and acrylic. Preferably, the base layer (110) may be made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The first thickness of the base layer (110), which is a thickness in the adhesion direction, may be greater than the second thickness, which is a thickness in the adhesion direction of the coating layer (120). The adhesion direction may be defined as a direction in which the antenna (100) and the glass (200) face each other. The adhesion direction may include a first adhesion direction (D1) and a second adhesion direction (D2). The first adhesion direction (D1) may be defined as a direction in which the base layer (110) faces the pattern forming layer (130). The second adhesion direction (D2) can be defined as the opposite direction of the first adhesion direction (D1).
[0029] Additionally, the first thickness may be, for example, 50 μm or more and 100 μm or less. However, the present invention is not limited to these examples, and the first thickness may have any value that is thicker than the second thickness.
[0030] The coating layer (120) may be an index matching layer that is disposed between two different materials and can reduce the difference in refractive index between the two different materials. In other words, the coating layer (120) may be coated on the boundary between the two different materials and index-match the two different materials. This coating layer (120) may be coated on the base layer (110). When in a close contact state, at least a portion of the coating layer (120) may be disposed between the base layer (110) and the glass (200). The close contact state may mean a state in which the glass (200) and the antenna (100) are in close contact with each other.
[0031] The coating refractive index, which is the refractive index of the coating layer (120), may be greater than or equal to one of the glass refractive index and the base refractive index, and less than or equal to the other. The glass refractive index may refer to the refractive index of the glass (200). In addition, the base refractive index may refer to the refractive index of the base layer (110).
[0032] For example, the coating refractive index may be greater than or equal to the glass refractive index. More specifically, the coating refractive index may be greater than the glass refractive index. For example, the coating refractive index may be greater than or equal to 1.55 and less than or equal to 1.6. Additionally, the glass refractive index may be greater than or equal to 1.55 and less than or equal to 1.5.
[0033] In addition, the coating refractive index may be less than or equal to the base refractive index. For example, the coating refractive index may be less than the base refractive index. In addition, the base refractive index may be, for example, 1.6 or more and 1.65 or less. For a more specific example, the coating refractive index may be greater than the glass refractive index and less than the base refractive index. When the coating refractive index is greater than the glass refractive index and less than the base refractive index, the boundary (frame) of the antenna (100) may be prevented from being revealed to the driver due to the difference in refractive index between the glass refractive index and the base refractive index. In this way, when the boundary of the antenna (100) is prevented from being revealed to the driver, the driver's field of vision and the reduction in the aesthetic elements of the vehicle may be effectively prevented.
[0034] Below, the results of comparison of visible light transmittance, Haze, and color of an antenna (100) including a coating layer (120) (one embodiment of the present invention) and an antenna (comparative example) not including a coating layer (120) are described.
[0035]
[0036] (Glass area: an area where the glass (200) and the antenna (100) do not overlap when the antenna assembly (10) is viewed in the close direction, antenna area: an area where the glass (200) and the antenna (100) overlap when the antenna assembly (10) is viewed in the close direction, L*: brightness, a*: red-green color system, b*: yellow-blue color system) Brightness (L*) may mean a degree close to black or white. Specifically, L*=0 may mean black, and L*=100 may mean white. Red-green color system (a*) may mean a degree close to red or green. Specifically, a positive (+) a* may mean red, and a negative (-) a* may mean green.
[0037] The yellow-blue color system (b*) can mean the degree to which it is close to yellow or blue. Specifically, a positive (+) b* can mean yellow, and a negative (-) b* can mean blue.
[0038] Referring to the comparison results of [Table 1] above, the antenna assembly (10) according to one embodiment of the present invention may have a smaller difference between the glass area and the antenna area than the comparative example. In this way, since the transmittance difference, haze difference, and color difference between the glass area and the antenna area of the antenna assembly (10) according to one embodiment of the present invention are smaller than those of the comparative example, the difference in visibility is formed smaller, and thus the transparency of the antenna assembly (10) can be maximized. Accordingly, there is an effect in that the driver's recognition of the boundary between the glass (200) and the antenna (100) is minimized.
[0039] In addition, the second thickness (thickness in the adhesion direction of the coating layer (120)) may be, for example, 5 μm or more and 30 μm or less. For example, when the second thickness is less than 5 μm, sufficient hardness is not achieved, and when the second thickness exceeds 30 μm, there is a problem that the volume of the antenna (100) increases as the thickness increases excessively. Accordingly, when the second thickness is 5 μm or more and 30 μm or less, there is an advantage of having sufficient hardness while preventing the volume of the antenna (100) from becoming excessively large.
[0040] This coating layer (120) may include a matting agent. This matting agent may be, for example, 5 wt% or more and 20 wt% or less of 100 wt% of the coating layer (120). This matting agent may be, for example, any one of silicon dioxide, wax, and organic materials. This coating layer (120) may be provided in multiple forms. The multiple coating layers (120) may include a first coating layer (121) and a second coating layer (122).
[0041] The first coating layer (121) may be disposed between the base layer (110) and the pattern forming layer (130) based on the adhesion direction. For example, the first coating layer (121) may be coated on the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the base layer (110). In addition, the first coating layer (121) may be adhered to the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the pattern forming layer (130). The first coating layer (121) may include an acrylic compound, a matting agent, a photoinitiator, and a solvent.
[0042] The acrylic compound may be, for example, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The acrylic compound may be, for example, present in an amount of 30 wt% or more and 70 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the first coating layer (121).
[0043] The matting agent may be, for example, silica (SiO2). The matting agent may be present in an amount of 5 wt% or more and 20 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the first coating layer (121).
[0044] The photoinitiator may be, for example, IRGACURE 184. The photoinitiator may be present in an amount of 1 wt% or more and 10 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the first coating layer (121).
[0045] The solvent may be, for example, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). This solvent may be present in an amount of 15 wt% or more and 50 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the first coating layer (121).
[0046] The information regarding the refractive index and thickness of the first coating layer (121) is based on the description regarding the refractive index and thickness of the coating layer (120).
[0047] The second coating layer (122) may be coated on the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the base layer (110). In other words, based on the adhesion direction, the first coating layer (121) and the second coating layer (122) may be spaced apart from each other with the base layer (110) interposed therebetween.
[0048] The hardness of this second coating layer (122) may be greater than the hardness of the first coating layer (121). This second coating layer (122) may be referred to as a 'hard coating layer'. This second coating layer (122) may have anti-blocking properties that can prevent adhesion problems (blocking phenomenon: a phenomenon in which films or sheets with smooth surfaces stick to each other and do not easily separate) between two different layers.
[0049] This second coating layer (122) may include an acrylic compound, a matting agent, a photoinitiator, a solvent, and a photocurable resin. For example, the second coating layer (122) may further include a photocurable resin in addition to the materials included in the first coating layer (121).
[0050] The acrylic compound may be, for example, 3-acryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane. The acrylic compound may be, for example, present in an amount of 30 wt% or more and 70 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the second coating layer (122).
[0051] The matting agent may be, for example, silica (SiO2). The matting agent may be present in an amount of 5 wt% or more and 20 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the second coating layer (122).
[0052] The photoinitiator may be, for example, IRGACURE 184. The photoinitiator may be present in an amount of 1 wt% or more and 10 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the second coating layer (122).
[0053] The solvent may be, for example, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). This solvent may be present in an amount of 15 wt% or more and 50 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the second coating layer (122).
[0054] The photocurable resin may be, for example, an aliphatic multifunctional acrylate (product name: MU9500, manufacturer: Miwon Corporation). This photocurable resin may be, for example, present in an amount of 5 wt% or more and 20 wt% or less among 100 wt% of the second coating layer (122).
[0055] The information regarding the refractive index and thickness of the second coating layer (122) is based on the description regarding the refractive index and thickness of the coating layer (120).
[0056] The pattern forming layer (130) can form a pattern of the antenna (100). The pattern of the antenna (100) may be, for example, an irregular pattern. However, the spirit of the present invention is not limited thereto, and the pattern of the antenna (100) may also be a regular pattern.
[0057] In addition, the pattern forming layer (130) may be placed between the glass (200) and the coating layer when in a close contact state. The thickness of the pattern forming layer (130) in the close contact direction may be, for example, 10 μm or more and 20 μm or less. The pattern forming layer (130) may include a resin layer (131) and a pattern determining portion (132).
[0058] A pattern groove into which a pattern determining portion (132) can be inserted may be formed in the resin layer (131). This pattern groove may be a groove introduced into the resin layer (131) in a second adhesion direction (D2). In addition, a plurality of pattern determining portions (132) may be provided, and a plurality of pattern grooves may be provided to correspond to a plurality of pattern determining portions (132). The refractive index of the resin layer (131) may be, for example, 1.5 or more and 1.6 or less. In addition, the thickness of the resin layer (131) in the adhesion direction may correspond to the thickness of the pattern forming layer (130) in the adhesion direction.
[0059] The pattern determination unit (132) can determine the shape of the pattern of the antenna (100). A plurality of such pattern determination units (132) may be provided. The plurality of pattern determination units (132) may be arranged to be spaced apart from each other in a direction crossing the adhesion direction. The pattern determination unit (132) may include a blackening layer (132-1) and an electrode layer (132-2). The pattern determination unit (132) has a structure in which the blackening layer (132-1) is arranged on the electrode layer (132-2), thereby improving visibility by preventing light reflection and providing an effect of preventing oxidation of the electrode layer.
[0060] The blackening layer (132-1) may have one or more materials selected from carbon, aluminum (Al), and chromium (Cr). Preferably, the blackening layer (132-1) may be made of carbon. The thickness of the blackening layer (132-1) in the contact direction may be, for example, 1 μm or more and 2 μm or less. The blackening layer (132-1) may be provided in multiples. The multiple blackening layers (132-1) may be arranged to be spaced apart from each other along the contact direction with the electrode layer (132-2) interposed therebetween. For example, the multiple blackening layers (132-1) may include a first blackening layer and a second blackening layer.
[0061] The first blackening layer may be arranged on the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the electrode layer (132-2). The second blackening layer may be arranged on the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the electrode layer (132-2). Based on the adhesion direction, the second blackening layer may be arranged to face the resin layer (131). For example, the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the second blackening layer may be in adhesion with the resin layer (131). As a more detailed example, the second blackening layer, the electrode layer (132-2), and the first blackening layer may be arranged sequentially along the first adhesion direction (D1).
[0062] The electrode layer (132-2) may be made of silver (Ag), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), or tungsten (W). Preferably, the electrode layer (132-2) may be made of silver. The thickness of the electrode layer (132-2) in the contact direction may be, for example, 6 μm or more and 7 μm or less.
[0063] The bonding film (A) can bond two different materials together. For example, the bonding film (A) may be polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Furthermore, the bonding film (A) may have a configuration not included in the antenna (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention. A plurality of such bonding films (A) may be provided.
[0064] These multiple bonding films (A) may include a first bonding film that bonds the first glass region (210) and the pattern forming layer (130) to be described later, and a second bonding film that bonds the second glass region (220) and the second coating layer (122) to be described later.
[0065] The first bonding film may be positioned between the first glass region (210) and the pattern forming layer (130) based on the adhesion direction. For example, the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the first bonding film may be in contact with the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the first glass region (210), and the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the first bonding film may be in contact with the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the pattern forming layer (130).
[0066] The glass (200) may be mounted on the frame (F) of the vehicle. An antenna (100) may be inserted into the interior of the glass (200). The glass (200) may be, for example, double-laminated glass. The glass (200) may include a first glass region (210) and a second glass region (220).
[0067] The first glass region (210) may form a first adhesion direction (D1) side of the antenna assembly (10). Based on the adhesion direction, the first glass region (210) and the pattern forming layer (130) may be arranged to face each other. For example, the first glass region (210) may be in adhesion to the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the antenna (100).
[0068] The thickness of the first glass region (210) in the adhesion direction may be, for example, 1800 μm or more and 3100 μm or less. The first glass region (210) may be arranged closer to the first adhesion direction (D1) than the second glass region (220).
[0069] The second glass region (220) may form a second adhesion direction (D2) side of the antenna assembly (10). Based on the adhesion direction, the second glass region (220) and the second coating layer (122) may be arranged to face each other. For example, the second glass region (220) may be adhered to the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the antenna (100). The adhesion direction thickness of the second glass region (220) may correspond to the adhesion direction thickness of the first glass region (210).
[0070] The first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) can be bonded to each other along the bonding direction with the antenna (100) interposed therebetween, based on the bonding direction. For example, when the antenna assembly (10) is viewed in the bonding direction, the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) can be bonded to each other in the remaining area of the glass (200) excluding the area where the glass (200) and the antenna (100) overlap.
[0071] In addition, the meaning of the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) being bonded to each other can be interpreted to include not only the case where the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) are directly bonded to each other, but also the case where the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) are indirectly bonded to each other by another configuration. For example, the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) can be bonded to each other by the bonding film (A) with the bonding film (A) therebetween. However, the idea of the present invention is not limited to these examples, and the first glass region (210) and the second glass region (220) can also be bonded so as to be in direct contact with each other.
[0072] Below, a method of coating a coating layer (120) on the base layer (110) of the present invention is described.
[0073] After depositing a coating layer (120) on a base layer (110) through wet sputtering, the base layer (110) and the coating layer (120) are dried at 100°C, and then UV is irradiated on the coating layer (120) so that the coating layer (120) is photocured, so that the coating layer (120) can be coated on the base layer (110).
[0074] Hereinafter, with reference to FIG. 3, an antenna assembly (10) according to another embodiment of the present invention will be described. When describing an antenna assembly (10) according to another embodiment of the present invention, differences from one embodiment of the present invention will be mainly described.
[0075] An antenna assembly (10) according to another embodiment of the present invention may include an antenna (100) and glass (200a). In addition, the base layer (110), the coating layer (120), and the pattern forming layer (130) of the antenna (100) according to another embodiment of the present invention refer to the description of the base layer (110), the coating layer (120), and the pattern forming layer (130) according to one embodiment of the present invention. In addition, the antenna (100) according to another embodiment of the present invention may further include an adhesive layer (140).
[0076] The glass (200a) may be provided as a single glass. For example, the antenna (100) may be adhered to either the first adhesion direction (D1) side or the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the glass (200a). For example, the first adhesion direction (D1) side of the antenna (100) may be adhered to the second adhesion direction (D2) side of the glass (200a). For example, the glass (200a) and the pattern forming layer (130) may be adhered to each other by an adhesive layer (140).
[0077] According to another embodiment of the present invention, the adhesive layer (140) may be, for example, an OCA (Optical Clear Adhesive). OCA may refer to an optical adhesive. Such an OCA may have a film form, such as a double-sided tape, for example. In addition, the OCA may be one or more of a silicone-based, acrylic-based, and urethane-based material.
[0078] In addition, the antenna (100) may be in close contact with one of the first contact direction (D1) side and the second contact direction (D2) side of the glass (200a), and the other of the first contact direction (D1) side and the second contact direction (D2) side of the glass (200a) may be exposed to the outside of the antenna assembly (10).
[0079] Although all components constituting the embodiments of the present invention have been described above as being combined or operating in combination, the present invention is not necessarily limited to these embodiments. That is, within the scope of the purpose of the present invention, all components may be selectively combined and operated one or more times.
