Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] Patient glove

[0003] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The invention, as the title of this specification indicates, is a glove for patients. This is an innovation that, within current techniques, offers previously unknown advantages.

[0005] TECHNICAL SECTOR

[0006] The present invention falls within the sector of outerwear, protective clothing and accessories, especially gloves.

[0007] STATE OF THE ART

[0008] The present invention arose because hospitalized patients, when they feel disoriented or uncomfortable, tend to try to remove the IVs from their arm, which can cause serious damage.

[0009] Faced with this situation, medical staff choose to tie them to the beds as a precautionary measure, causing even more discomfort for the patient and their families.

[0010] Consequently, the present invention consists of a patient glove that, while safely and comfortably protecting the patient's integrity, prevents the patient from removing the IVs from his or her arm, providing peace of mind to both medical staff and family members by avoiding the need to tie the patient to the bed.

[0011] Currently, the existence of any glove for patients that have structural and constitutive technical characteristics equal to or similar to those described in this specification, as claimed, is unknown.

[0012] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0013] The object of the present invention is the creation of a patient glove, which provides a notable innovation within its field of application in the current state of the art, the characterizing details that make it possible being conveniently collected in the final claims that accompany this description. The present invention concerns a patient glove, which comprises a mitten that completely covers the fingers and the hand, extending to the wrist, where it is attached to a thick band that is in turn linked to a sleeve. At the upper end of the sleeve, there is a narrow band, which is attached to an adjustable fastening strip that has a fixing strap to safely hold and secure the patient's medical route, preventing it from accidentally shifting or moving.

[0014] This invention solves the problem of having to strap the patient to the bed to prevent them from removing the IV tubes. Alternatively, the IV tubes are secured and the patient is prevented from using their hand to remove them, while maintaining their remaining mobility.

[0015] This invention is extremely beneficial in providing confidence to both medical staff and family members, as it eliminates the need to restrain the patient in bed to prevent the removal of the IV tubes.

[0016] The glove features a lightweight, anatomical mitt that, in use, has a convex shape on the outside, similar to a boxing glove, and a slightly concave shape to rest the palm of the hand.

[0017] Inside, each finger has individual spaces. It's also made of soft, hypoallergenic, padded, and breathable materials, providing a comfortable feel and preventing any skin irritation or allergies.

[0018] The mitten is attached to the sleeve by a thick, flexible band that covers the contour of the wrist, allowing for movement. The sleeve extends over the forearm to near the elbow, where it is connected to a thin band that is also attached to an adjustable strap that fits snugly around the forearm and has a snap button for added security.

[0019] This adjustable support strip is attached to a fixing strap to ensure the patient's medical pathway is securely fastened.

[0020] To use the glove, place the mitten on the patient's hand, making sure, if necessary, to place each finger in its corresponding space.

[0021] The sleeve is then slipped over the forearm and the support strap is adjusted, securing it with a snap button for a secure fit. Finally, the fixation strap is used to ensure the stability of the patient's medical pathways, preventing any unintentional movement or shifting.

[0022] EXPLANATION OF THE FIGURES

[0023] To complete the description being made and in order to help better understand the characteristics of the invention, this specification is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by some figures in which, for illustrative and non-limiting purposes, the following has been represented.

[0024] Figure 1 shows a front perspective view of the patient glove.

[0025] Figure 2 shows a side perspective view of the patient glove.

[0026] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION.

[0027] The patient glove comprises a mitten (1) that completely covers the fingers and hand extending to the wrist, where it joins a thick flexible band (2) which, in turn, is linked to a sleeve (3). At the upper end of the sleeve (3), there is a narrow band (4), also flexible, which is joined to an adjustable fastening strip (5) that has an overlapping fixing tape (6) to safely hold and secure the patient's medical route, preventing it from being accidentally displaced or moved.

[0028] In a preferred embodiment, the mitten (1) is anatomical, lightweight, with a thickly padded dorsal area that has a convex shape on the outside, similar to boxing gloves, while the palmar area is thin and has a slightly concave shape, which allows the palm of the hand to rest comfortably. The finger area may have seams that delimit interdigital areas, providing individual spaces for each finger.

[0029] Preferably, the mitten (1) is made of soft, hypoallergenic, padded and breathable materials.

[0030] Generally, the thick band (2) covers part of the wrist contour and is made of a soft, rubberized material that is very flexible, allowing the wrist to move. In another preferred embodiment, the sleeve (3) is elongated and truncated cone-shaped, covering the forearm up to the elbow. It is made on the inside from a material such as siliconized hollow fiber, while on the outside it has a material such as elastic perforated polyester.

[0031] Generally, the narrow band (4) covers the contour near the elbow and is made of a very flexible, soft, rubberized material, allowing for mobility of the forearm.

[0032] Generally, the adjustable fastening strip (5) is made of hook and loop that fits the arm and includes a first pressure button (5.1, for a more secure closure.

[0033] Preferably, the fixing tape (6) is a hook and loop connecting strip that is fixed with a second pressure button (6.1), for a more secure fixing of the sanitary routes.

[0034] Preferably, the mitten (1), the thick band (2), the sleeve (3), the narrow band (4), the adjustable fastening strip (5) and the fixing tape (6) are joined together by sewing.

[0035] In a preferred embodiment, the glove contains a casing for the hand. This casing is rigid or semi-rigid, preventing the fingers from moving in a gripping motion. This casing will allow lateral movement of the fingers, making them more comfortable to use, but not the gripping motion.

[0036] This casing will usually have ventilation holes so that the hand can breathe properly and not become excessively sweaty.

[0037] Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to explain it further so that any expert in the field may understand its scope and the advantages derived from it, stating that, within its essence, it may be put into practice in other embodiments that differ in detail from that indicated by way of example, and to which it will also achieve the protection sought provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
