Abstract
Description
[0001] Kitchen and Pantry Cabinet System
[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The present invention relates to an integral kitchen cabinet system to provide efficient storage and easy access to appliances. More specifically, the present invention is a kitchen and pantry cabinet system that allows the user to store items within the pantry and access the stored items through the backsplash wall.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0005] Kitchen cabinets are the built-in furniture installed in many kitchens for storage of food, cooking equipment, and often silverware and dishes for table service. Appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens are often integrated into kitchen cabinetry. Kitchen cabinets are generally separated into two types of cabinets (wall cabinets and base cabinets). More specifically, base cabinets are mounted on top of the flooring as the base cabinets provide storage and accommodate the countertop. Wall cabinets are mounted adjacent to the ceiling as the wall cabinets also provide storage. In most kitchen layouts, the pantry is positioned adjacent or behind the kitchen thus allowing the kitchen cabinets to be installed to the side or the front of the pantry wall. As a result, the stored items within the pantry can only be accessed and transported through the pantry entrance as the stored items cannot be accessed from the kitchen. However, carrying items back and forth between the kitchen and the pantry can be tiresome due to the weight and size of the stored items and the distance between the kitchen and the pantry.
[0006] It is therefore an objective of the present invention to provide a kitchen and pantry cabinet system that provides efficient storage space while maintaining a sleek and unobtrusive appearance when not in use. Furthermore, the stored item within the pantry can be easily accessed through the backsplash of the kitchen without physically walking into the pantry. More specifically, the backsplash wall functions as a door so that the stored items can be pulled out onto the countertop through the door opening. As a result, the present invention provides a multi-functional cabinet system that create versatile storage solutions for heavy items and small kitchen appliances while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of interior spaces. The backsplash wall that functions as a door can include regular doors, backsplash tile doors, glass doors, and a screen TV door thus providing distinct functional and decorative purposes.
