Description
A HANGING ASSEMBLY
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims priority to and the benefit of Chinese Patent Application No. 20232326594, filed on November 30, 2023, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.BACKGROUND
[0003] The present application is generally in the field of structures and assemblies for hanging tools for storage and / or during use.
[0004] In various work settings, several different tool types are often used, such as electric drills, calipers, pliers, and more. In some scenarios, such as when working outdoors, it may be desirable for one to wear one or more tools around their waist or neck by means of a belt, separating the tool (s) from the belt as needed. In other scenarios, it may be desirable to hang one or more tools in a fixed position when the tool (s) is not in use, while still being able to easily access the tool (s) as needed.
[0005] It would therefore be desirable to provide a hanging assembly to facilitate the hanging of tools in this manner. Current systems for doing so, such as that described in CN218592914U, utilize an attachment suspension device having a sleeve within which one or more tools may be affixed. However, with this system, the tool (s) are not easily accessible to the user and may easily fall out of the attachment device.
[0006] It would therefore be desirable to provide new and improved systems and assemblies for hanging tools in a convenient, secure, and easily accessible manner.SUMMARY
[0007] In one aspect, a hanging assembly is provided. The hanging assembly may include a hanging attachment and a hanging member configured to engage with the hanging attachment, where, when the hanging member is engaged with the hanging attachment, the hanging attachment is secured to the hanging member. The hanging member may include a hanging body, a front wall, a bottom wall, and an opening provided opposite the bottom wall, wherein, when the hanging attachment is engaged with the hanging member, the hanging attachment is secured against the hanging body, the front wall, and the bottom wall of the hanging member. The hanging member may also include a mating portion interlockable with the hanging attachment, such that when the hanging attachment is locked with the mating portion of the hanging member, the hanging attachment is secured against the mating portion in a direction towards the opening of the hanging member. [0033] The disclosure will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which example embodiments are shown. This disclosure may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein.
[0034] As used herein, the terms "first" , "second" , "third" , "fourth" , etc. are used to distinguish similar objects, and need not be used to describe a particular order or sequence.
[0035] As used herein, orientation terms such as "up" , "down" , "left" , "right" , "front" , "back" , "top" , and "bottom, " are defined with respect to the positions of the structures in the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that the use of orientation terms should not limit the scope of the present disclosure.
[0036] FIGS. 1-3 illustrate a hanging assembly 1, which includes a hanging member 10 configured to engage with a hanging attachment 20. The hanging member 10 may be connected to a fixed structure such as a belt, a lanyard, a toolbox, a tool board, or a wall. The hanging attachment 20 may be connected to a tool, such as a caliper or an electric drill. In embodiments, the hanging member 10 includes an external hanging body 11, a front wall 113, a sidewall 112, a bottom wall 114, and a top opening 111 provided opposite to the bottom wall 114 on the hanging body 11. When the hanging attachment 20 is engaged with the hanging member 10, the hanging attachment 20 may be held against the front wall 113, the sidewall 112, and the bottom wall 114, thereby limiting motion of the hanging attachment 20 relative to the hanging member. The hanging member 10 may also include a mating portion 115 that can be interlocked with the hanging attachment 20. When the hanging attachment 20 is locked with the mating portion 115, the hanging attachment 20 may be held against the mating portion 115 in a secure manner, thereby preventing the outer hanging attachment 20 from falling out of the top opening 111.
[0037] In some embodiments, the hanging attachment 20 is a plate-like structure that may be configure to attach to a tool. This enables a user to, for example, secure a tool to their body (e.g., around their waist or neck) while mobile. The user may secure the hanging member 10 around a belt, and then may attach the hanging attachment 20 to secure a tool to said belt. When in use, the user may remove the tool, or may separate the hanging attachment 20 from the hanging member 10 when the tool is needed for use.
[0038] In some embodiments, when the hanging attachment 20 is engaged with the hanging member 10, the hanging body 11 limits the movement of the hanging attachment 20 in the rear direction, the front wall 113 limits the movement of the hanging attachment 20 in the front direction, the sidewall 112 limits the movement of the hanging attachment 20 in the left and right directions, and the bottom wall 114 limits the movement of the hanging attachment 20 in the downward direction. As such, the hanging member 10 is only permitted to move in the upward direction, in the direction of the top opening 111. In other embodiments, the sidewall 112 may not be provided so that the hanging member 10 can be moved in the left and right directions to adjust the position of the hanging attachment 20 relative to the hanging member 10.
[0039] In embodiments, the hanging member 10 also includes a mating portion 115 that can be interlocked with the hanging attachment 20. The mating portion 115 may be used to limit the movement of the hanging attachment 20 in the upward direction, so that when the hanging attachment 20 is locked with the mating portion 115, the hanging attachment is secured to the hanging member 10. The mating portion 115 therefore locks the hanging attachment 20 with the hanging member 10. In some embodiments, the mating portion 115 further locks the hanging attachment 20 to the hanging member 10, making it suitable for movement or stationary use. To remove the hanging attachment 20 from the hanging member 10, the hanging attachment 20 may be disengaged from the mating portion 115 so that the hanging attachment 20 may be removed via the top opening 111.
[0040] As illustrated in FIG. 3, the hanging body 11, two sidewalls 112, two front walls 113, and the bottom wall 114 together form a recessed groove 110. The recessed groove 110 may also be provided with a front opening 116 opposing the wall of the recessed groove 110 defined by the hanging body 11. When the hanging attachment 20 is coupled with the hanging member 10, the hanging attachment 20 may be inserted into the recessed groove 110 via the top opening 111. According to a preferred embodiment, the recessed groove 110 is in a U-shape, where the top opening 111 is provided at the top of the recessed groove 110, and the bottom wall 114 is provided at the bottom of the recessed groove 110. In another embodiment, the recessed groove 110 may be in an inverted U-shape, where the top opening 111 is provided at the bottom of the recessed groove 110 and the bottom wall 114 is provided at the top of the recessed groove 110.
[0041] In some embodiments, the hanging attachment 20 includes a hanging attachment body 22 and a snap-fit portion 24 disposed on the hanging attachment body 22 on the side adjacent to the hanging member 10. The snap-fit portion 24 may fit into a recessed groove 110 of the hanging member via the top opening 111, thereby engaging the snap-fit portion 24 and the hanging attachment 20 with the hanging member 10.
[0042] FIGS. 4-6 illustrate the hanging member 10 in greater detail. As shown in FIG. 4, the mating portion 115 may be provided within at least one of the sidewalls 112. In some embodiments, the mating portion 115 is a recess provided within both sidewalls 112 of the recessed groove 110. In other embodiments, only one mating portion 115 is present within only one sidewall 112, on either side of the recessed groove 110. In further embodiments, the mating portion (s) 115 may be provided in or on the hanging member 10 in a location other than within the sidewall (s) 112 of the recessed groove 110. For example, a single mating portion 115 may be provided within the front wall 113, either within or outside of the recessed groove 110. When the mating portion (s) 115 is locked with the hanging attachment 20, the mating portion 115 may limit the movement of the hanging attachment 20 within the recessed groove 110 in one or more directions.
[0043] In embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 5-6, the recessed groove 110 comprises a first slot 110A and a second slot 110B. The first slot 110A and the second slot 110B are disposed adjacent to one another and together continuously form the recessed groove 110. In some embodiments, first slot 110A is positioned along the hanging body 11 along a width W of the recessed groove. In some embodiments, the width of the first slot 110A is greater than the width of the second slot 110B. The first slot 110A and the second slot 110B therefore form a ledge 110C where the first slot 110A and the second slot 110B meet. In some embodiments, the mating portion 115 is provided within the sidewall of the second slot 110B. In other embodiments, the mating portion 115 is provided on the sidewall of the first slot 110A.
[0044] In some embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 5, the hanging member 10 also includes a cleat 12 connected to the hanging body 11. The cleat 12 may be located adjacent to the hanging body 11 on the side opposite the recessed groove 110. The cleat 12 may be connected to the hanging body 11 on one end (e.g., the top end) and selectively engageable with the hanging body on the opposing end (e.g., the bottom end) . In some embodiments, the hanging member 10 includes a pivot shaft 15 connecting the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12, so that the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are pivotably connected at one end (e.g., the top end) of the hanging body. In some embodiments, the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are selectively engageable on the opposing end (e.g., the bottom end) via a snap-fit mechanism 13. When the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are secured together, a gap 120 is formed therebetween to accommodate, for example, a belt.
[0045] In such an embodiment, where the gap 120 accommodates a belt, the hanging member 10 may effectively be used as a belt buckle. For example, in use, the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are rotated open, and then a belt is placed between the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12. The hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are then rotate closed and locked together via the snap-fit mechanism 13, leaving the belt to sit within the gap 120 between the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 so that the hanging member 10 is connected and secured to the belt.
[0046] The snap-fit mechanism is shown in greater detail in FIG. 5. In embodiments, the snap-fit mechanism 13 includes a member pin 131 disposed on at least one side of the hanging body 11, a depressible portion 132 connected to the member pin 131, and at least one mating groove 134 disposed on the cleat 12. When the hanging body 11 is locked with the clamp plate 12, the member pin 131 is accommodating within the mating groove 134. The depressible portion 132 may be used to unlock the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12, where depression of the depressible portion 132 disengages the member pin 131 from the mating groove 134, thereby releasing the hanging body 11 from the cleat 12. It would be understood that, although the snap-fit mechanism 13 is described herein as being positioned on the hanging body 11, in some embodiments, the snap-fit mechanism 13 may be positioned on the cleat 12 and the mating groove 134 disposed on the hanging body.
[0047] In embodiments, the snap-fit mechanism 13 includes two member pins 131, where the each of the two member pins 131 are disposed on opposite sides of the hanging body 11. The cleat 12 may also have two mating grooves 134, similarly disposed on oppose ends of the cleat 12 to receive each of the pins 131 therein. In some embodiments, the snap-fit mechanism 13 also includes a first elastic member 133 disposed between the two member pins 131. In embodiments where only a single member pin 131 is present, the elastic member 133 may be positioned between the member pin 131 and the hanging body 11. The elastic member 133 may be provided within the snap-fit mechanism 13 so as to facilitate the locking of the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12.
[0048] In some embodiments, the member pin (s) 131 includes a pin protrusion 131A for facilitating mating between the member pin (s) 131 and the mating groove 134. As the pin (s) 131 comes into contact with the mating groove 134, the pin protrusion 131A contacts the edge of the mating grove 134 to push the pin inward 131, ultimately causing the member pin (s) 131 to snap into the mating groove 13 when the hanging body 11 and the cleat 12 are further advanced together. To unlock the pin (s) 131 from the mating groove (s) 134, opposing sides of the depressible portion (s) 132 are pushed towards each other to disengage the pins 131 from the mating groove 134. More specifically, as the depressible portion (s) 132 are moved towards each other, the elastic member 133 contracts to reduce the distance between the pins 131 to be less than the distance between the opposing mating grooves 134. The inward motion of the depressible portions 132 and the pins 131 accumulates force in the elastic member 133, and when the depressible portions 132 and pins 131 are released from tension, the elastic member 133 will revert to its resting position. According to a preferred embodiment, the elastic member 133 is a spring.
[0049] In other embodiments, where only one pin 131 is present on the hanging body 11, the elastic member 133 may be provided between the pin 131 and the hanging body 11, or between the pin 131 and the depressible portion 132.
[0050] In embodiments, the hanging body 11 also includes a receiving slot 117 for holding the snap-fit mechanism 13 within the hanging body 10. The receiving slot 117 may be disposed within the hanging body 11 on a side opposite the cleat 12, and is sized and shaped to receive the pin (s) 131, the depressible portion (s) 132, and the elastic member 133 of the snap-fit mechanism 13 therein. The pin (s) 131 and the depressible portion (s) 132 pass through the receiving slot 117 and protrude outward from the hanging body 11 on the side of the hanging body 11 adjacent to the cleat 12. More specifically, the receiving slot 117 may include an exit passage 118 configured to receive the member pins 131 therethrough, and opposing side passages 119 configured to receive the depressible portions 132 therethrough. The exit passage 118 may be positioned on the same side of the hanging body 11 as the cleat, opposite the receiving slot 117. When the snap-fit mechanism 13 is secured within the receiving slot 117, a cover plate 14 may be provided to cover the snap-fit mechanism 13 and the receiving slot 117.
[0051] Referring now to FIGS. 7-9, the hanging attachment 20 is shown in greater detail. In embodiments, the hanging attachment 20 includes a locking mechanism 26 connected to the attachment body 22 and / or the snap-fit portion 24 of the hanging attachment 20. The locking mechanism 26 may engage with the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10 in order to restrict any vertical movement (i.e., movement in the upward or downward directions) of the hanging attachment 20 with respect to the hanging member 10. The engagement between the locking mechanism 26 of the hanging attachment and the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10 may also prevent the hanging attachment 20 from becoming separated from the hanging member 10.
[0052] In embodiments, as shown in FIG. 8, the locking mechanism 26 includes a locking pin 261 disposed on at least one side of the snap-fit portion 24, and a handle portion 263 drivably coupled to the locking pin 261. The locking pin 261 may interlock with the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10 in order to lock and unlock the locking mechanism 26 from the mating portion 115.
[0053] In some embodiments, the locking mechanism 26 includes two or more (preferably two) locking pins 261 and a resilient member 262 positioned between the two locking pins 261. According to a preferred embodiment, the resilient member 262 is a spring. The two locking pins 261 may be driven by the handle portion 263 towards each other, thereby disengaging the pins 261 from the mating portion 115 to unlock the hanging attachment 20 from the hanging member 10. Movement of the locking pins 261 via the handle portion 263 may cause the resilient member to compress, such that when external force on the handle portion 263 is released, the resilient member 262 and locking pins 261 will revert to a resting position.
[0054] In other embodiments, the locking mechanism 26 includes a second resilient member 262, where the second resilient member 262 is disposed between the handle portion 263 and the attachment body 22 of the hanging attachment 22. In these embodiments, the second resilient member 262 may actuate the movement of the locking pins 261 via the handle portion 263.
[0055] In embodiments, the locking pin (s) 261 have a beveled edge 2612 configured to be received by the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10. When the hanging attachment 20 is engaged with the hanging member 10, the locking pin 261 may be stopped by the sidewall 112 of the hanging member 10, causing the pin 261 to inwardly retract. When the locking pin (s) 261 is moved to engage with the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10, the pin (s) 261 may move inward due to a compression force from the resilient member 262 being exerted on the pin (s) 261, and release of said compression force enables the pin (s) 261 to move outward and into engagement with the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10. This interlocking of the pin 261 and the hanging member 115 effectively locks the locking mechanism 26 with the mating portion 115.
[0056] In embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 10A-10B, the locking mechanism 26 may also convert vertical movement of the handle portion 263 into lateral movement of the locking mechanism 26. This may be effective to unlock the locking mechanism 26 in a simple manner via only the handle portion 263, so that the user may, for example, unlock the hanging attachment 20 using only one hand.
[0057] In embodiments, the steering structure includes a beveled surface 264 provided on the handle portion 263, such that the locking pin 261 rests on the beveled surface 264 of the handle portion 263. In some embodiments, the beveled surface 264 is provided on the locking pin 261, such that the handle portion 263 rests on the beveled surface 264 of the locking pin 261. In other embodiments, the handle portion 263 and the locking pin 261 are both provided on the beveled surface 264, and the beveled surface 264 is provided on the locking pin 261. In some embodiments, the handle portion 263 moves up and down relative to the attachment body 22. In other embodiments, the handle portion 263 and the locking pin 261 are capable of moving diagonally relative to each other to translate the vertical movement of the handle portion 263 into the horizontal telescopic movement of the locking pin 261. The motion of the handle portion 263 relative to the attachment body 22 may be effective to unlock the hanging attachment 20 from the hanging member 10.
[0058] In some embodiments, the handle portion 263 is provided with pin-receiving slot 2631a pin-receiving slot 2631, and the locking pin 261 is provided with a pin protrusion 2611 to be inserted into the pin-receiving slot 2631. The beveled surface 264 may be provided on the inner wall of the pin-receiving slot 2631, such that the pin protrusion 2611 of the locking pin 261 abuts the beveled surface 264 when the locking pin (s) 261 is inserted into the pin-receiving slot 2631. When the handle portion 263 is moved up or down, the pin protrusion 2611 is able to move along the beveled surface 264 to retract the locking pin 261 inwardly, disengaging the pin 261 from the mating portion 115. Disengagement of the pin (s) 261 from the mating portion 115 may be effective to unlock the hanging attachment 20 from the hanging member 10.
[0059] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 10A, the pin-receiving slot 2631 is an inverted trapezoid, and the beveled surface 264 is inwardly inclined in a downward direction. The locking pin 261 may be in an outstretched state when the pin protrusion 2611 of the locking pin 261 is located at a top position of the beveled surface 264 (i.e., at the top of the pin-receiving slot 2631) . When a user moves the handle portion 263 upward, the pin protrusion 2611 of the locking pin 261 may inwardly retract and disengage from the mating portion 115. More specifically, the pin protrusion 2611 of the locking pin 261 is forced inward due to the contact of the protrusion 2611 with the beveled surface 264, which in turn causes the locking pin 261 to retract. At the same time, the resilient member 262 may be compressed, as shown in FIG. 10B. Release of the handle portion 263 may release any stored tension in the resilient member 262, thereby causing the handle 263 to revert to the resting position shown in FIG. 10A. In other embodiments, the pin-receiving slot 2631 may be a trapezoidal, where the beveled surface 264 inwardly inclined in an upward direction, such that when a user moves the handle 263 down, the pin protrusion 2611 of the locking pin 261 retracts inwardly to release the pin 261 from the mating portion 115.
[0060] In some embodiments, as shown in greater detail in FIG. 8, a locking slot 27 is provided on the attachment body 22 of the hanging member 20 on the side opposite the snap-fit portion 24, and extends from the outward-facing sidewall of the attachment body 22 into the snap-fit portion 24. The locking pin 261 and the resilient member 262 may be disposed in the locking slot 27, such that the locking pin 261 is able to pass through the locking slot 27 to engage with the mating portion 115 of the hanging member 10. In some embodiments, a sidewall of the locking slot 27 is provided with a perforation 274 configured for receiving the locking pin 261.
[0061] The handle portion 263 may also include a contact portion 263A disposed within the second accommodation slot 27, and a clasp portion 263B extending from the locking slot 27. The pin-receiving slot 2631 with the beveled surface 264 may be disposed on the contact portion 263A. The clap portion 263B may be manipulated (i.e., moved in an upward or downward direction) by a user.
[0062] In some embodiments, such as that shown in FIG. 8, the locking mechanism 26 may have two or more locking pins 261, where the pins 261 are provided on opposite sides of the resilient member 262. The locking slot 27 may also be provided with a guiding groove 271, sized and shaped to receive the locking pins 261 and the resilient member 262 therein. When the locking pins 261 are positioned within the guiding groove 271, the guiding groove 271 may restrict motion of the pins 261 to prevent unwanted motion thereof.
[0063] In some embodiments, the hanging attachment 20 also includes a second cover plate 28 located on an exterior of the attachment body 22, opposite the snap-fit portion 24. The second cover plate 28 may be provided to cover the opening defined by the locking slot 27, in that the cover plate 28 may be connected to the attachment body 22 in a manner that covers the locking slot 27, with the exception of the clasp portion 263B.
[0064] In some embodiments, the snap-fit portion 24 includes a plate 241 and a connection portion 242. The plate 241 may be located on the side of the snap-fit portion 24 adjacent to the hanging member 10, and is attached to the connection portion 242, which extends from the hanging attachment body 22. In some embodiments, the second pin (s) 261 is provided adjacent to the connection portion 242, such that the locking pin 261 is able to extend out of the connection portion 242 after passing through the sidewall of the second accommodation slot 27.
[0065] Along a direction of the width W of the hanging member 10 and / or hanging attachment 20, the width of the plate 241 may be greater than the width of the connection portion 242. When the hanging attachment 20 is inserted into and mated with the hanging member 10, the plate 241 may fit within the first slot 110A and abut the step 110C. The connection portion 242 may fit within the second slot 110B, thereby enabling the second pin (s) 261 to snap together and engage with the mating portion 115, thereby locking the attachment body 20 to the hanging member 10. In some embodiments, the width of the first slide 110A may decrease along the height of the hanging member 10. The width of the plate 241 may therefore similarly decrease.
[0066] Referring now to FIGS. 11 to 13B, the handle portion 363 may be rotationally connected to the attachment body 32 of the hanging attachment 30. The steering structure of the handle 363 may include a pivot shaft 321 provided on the attachment body 32, and the handle portion 363 may be rotationally connected up and down by the pivot shaft 321 to transform the up and down rotational movement of the handle portion 363 into a telescopic movement of the second pin 221, thereby realizing unlocking. In some embodiments, the second pin 361 is provided with a protruding portion 3611. When the handle portion 363 is rotated, the handle portion 363 may drive the second pin 361 to retract and disengage from the mating portion 115, thereby unlocking the hanging attachment 30 from the attachment member 10.
[0067] In some embodiments, the handle portion 363 includes a contact portion 363A disposed within an accommodation slot 37 and a gripping portion 363B extending outside of the accommodation slot 37. The contact portion 363A may abut the second pin 361 to drive motion of the pin 361 when the gripping portion 363B is manipulated (e.g., rotated clockwise or counterclockwise) by a user.
[0068] As shown in FIGS. 12 and 13A, a single pin 361 is present adjacent to an end of an elastic member 362. The opposing end of the elastic member 362 may abut the inner wall of the accommodation slot 27. When the user pivots the handle portion 363 in a counterclockwise direction, the second pin 361 is compressed by the contact portion 363A of the handle portion 363, which inwardly retracts the pin 361 to disengage the pin 361 from the mating portion 115. At the same time, the elastic member 362 may be compressed, as shown in FIG. 13B. Release of the handle portion 363 may release the tension from the elastic member 362, restoring the handle portion 363 to the resting state shown in FIG. 13A.
[0069] Referring now to FIG. 14, a hanging plate 40 having several fixed hanging members 10 is provided. In embodiments, the hanging plate 40 may be mounted to a fixed position, and may be used to hang a plurality of the same or different hanging attachments via respecting hanging members 10.
