Description

COMPOSITION FOR CLEANSING AND / OR REMOVING MAKEUPS FROM KERATIN MATERIALSTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a composition for cleansing and / or removing makeups from keratin materials, and also relates to a process for cleansing and / or removing makeups from keratin materials.BACKGROUND ART

[0002] Cleansing the skin is very important, especially for caring for the face. It must be as efficient as possible because greasy residues, such as dirt, excess sebum, and remnants of cosmetic products used daily, and make-up products can result in an unpleasant oily appearance. Moreover, nowadays it has become more and more important that cleansing compositions provide effective cleansing of the keratin materials as well as mildness for said keratin materials.

[0003] Efforts have been made to meet the requirements as mentioned above. As a result, mild surfactants, such as amino acid surfactants, are being used more frequently to provide a mild, high satisfactory cleanser. For example, it is known to formulate an amino acid surfactant in combination with a relatively higher level of a soap-based surfactant or salt of fatty acid to obtain a cleansing product with mild sensation.

[0004] For the current cleansing products, they can be disposed in various containers, including tubes, jars, caps, unit dose packages, and bottles, such as squeezable tubes and bottles, pump bottles, and spray bottles. Due to convenience, a pump system, e.g., pump bottles, are more and more popular, especially for men cleansing products. In this way, good pumping performance is desirable.

[0005] However, the current cleansing products comprising an amino acid surfactant may not provide desirable stability, rheology, foaming and / or pumping performances.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need for a composition for cleansing and / or removing makeups from keratin materials comprising an amino acid surfactant, which can provide desirable stability, rheology, foaming and / or pumping performances.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The inventors have found that such a need can be achieved by the composition according to the present invention.

[0008] According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to a composition, especially for cleansing and / or removing makeups from keratin materials, comprising:

[0010] b) an amount of less than 5 wt. %of at least one salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms, relative to the total weight of the composition, and

[0011] c) at least one acrylates copolymer.

[0012] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a process for cleansing and / or removing makeups from keratin materials, comprising applying the above composition onto the keratin materials.

[0013] According to a third aspect, the present invention relates to use of a salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms for improving pumping performance of a composition comprising an amino acid surfactant, wherein the salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms is present in an amount of less than 5 wt. %, relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0108] Table 2

[0109] Preparation process

[0110] The compositions were prepared from a process comprising the following steps:

[0111] 1) . mixing acrylates copolymer (if present) with water, and adjusting pH value of the resulted mixture to 7.2 using sodium hydroxide to form Mixture 1;

[0112] 2) . adding amino acid surfactant into Mixture 1 to form Mixture 2;

[0113] 3) . adding salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms (if present) into Mixture 2 to form the final composition.

[0114] Test of stability

[0115] For each composition of Inventive Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-4, the stability was tested by being stored at RT, 4℃, 37℃, and 45℃ for 2 months respectively.

[0116] Test of viscosity

[0117] For each composition of Inventive Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-4, the viscosity was measured at 25℃ and atmospheric pressure using a Rheomat  apparatus equipped with M3 spindle at a rotation speed of 200 rpm after 10 minutes of rotation of the spindle in the composition.

[0118] Test of foaming performance

[0119] Preparation procedure:

[0120] 1) taking 0.5 ml of each composition of Inventive Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-4 to be tested with a syringe, and 2 x 1 ml of water with pipettes;

[0121] 2) rinsing hands under tap water for 2 seconds and placing 0.5 ml of each composition onto palm (s) with a syringe, then adding 1 ml of water with one pipette;

[0122] 3) making back and forth movements for 20 rounds (2 circles / second) and pausing to gather foam in the palm (s) to prevent the foams from flowing if necessary;

[0123] 4) adding 1 ml of water with one pipette again, and making back and forth movements for 20 rounds (2 circles / second) , and pausing to gather foam in the palm (s) to prevent foam from flowing if necessary; and

[0124] 5) putting together all the foam in one palm.

[0125] Foaming performance was evaluated by the volume of the foams obtained at the end of rubbing hands (40 rounds) . The scores of 1-5 were given. The higher of the score, the better the foaming performance was.

[0126] Score 5: very large;

[0127] Score 4: slightly large;

[0128] Score 3: common;

[0129] Score 2: slightly small;

[0130] Score 1: small.

[0131] Test of pumping performance

[0132] Pressing force was measured by Dynamometer (LRX plus) equipped with a stroke regulating device to test the pumping performance of each composition. 150 g of each composition of Invention Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-4 was filled into the same type of container with a pump system respectively and placed on the dynamometer. The adapter was positioned on the actuator, the counters were set at zero (force and stroke) , via regulating the speed at 63.5 mm / minute, the actuator was pushed as far as possible, the pressing force shown on the dynamometer was recorded for each composition accordingly. The force was also recorded for empty pumping without composition filled (i.e., 15N) . The pressing force deviation between each composition and the empty pumping was calculated and shown in Table 3. The lower of the pressing force deviation, the better the pumping performance was.

[0133] The pressing force deviation (8 to 10N) : very difficult to pump out;

[0134] The pressing force deviation (6 to<8N) : difficult to pump out;

[0135] The pressing force deviation (4 to<6N) : neither easy nor difficult to pump;

[0136] The pressing force deviation (2 to<4N) : easy to pump out;

[0137] The pressing force deviation (0 to<2N) : very easy to pump out.

[0138] From the standards for scores of foaming and pumping performances, a score of 3.5 or higher can be taken as desirable results, and the results of the stability, viscosity, foaming and pumping performances are shown in Table 3.

[0139] Table 3

[0140] It can be seen that only the composition of the Inventive Example 1, comprising an amino acid surfactant, an amount of less than 5 wt. %of a salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms, and an acrylates copolymer, can simultaneously bring desirable stability and rheology performance, and desirable foaming and pumping performances.

[0141] By contrast, each of the compositions of the Comparative Examples 3-4, which does not comprise a salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms or an acrylates copolymer, cannot obtain desirable rheology and / or foaming performance, and the composition of the Comparative Example 4, which does not comprise an acrylates copolymer, is even not stable after being stored at different temperatures for two months.

[0142] Moreover, even for the compositions of the Comparative Examples 1-2, which comprise 5 wt. %or more of a salt of fatty acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms, cannot bring desirable pumping performance.
